Emily Hale
Emily S. Hale, 86, of Sikeston, Mo., died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.
Born March 19, 1917, in Kennett, daughter of the late Irvin d. and Lula Hutchens Smith, she was a seamstress, Cub Scout leader and co-owner of Hale's Jewelry Store in Sikeston. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston.
On Jan. 21, 1940, in Bruceton, Tenn., she married
George Loy Hale, Jr., who preceded her in death on May 31, 1989. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Jospeh D. Smith. Survivors include two sons, Jim Hale and wife, Nancy, of Evansville, Ind. and George Loy Hale III, and wife, Brenda, of Sikeston; three granddaughters, Christy Hale McKenna, of Cartersville, Pa., Loy Anne Hale Brown, of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Lisa Hale James, of Sikeston and five great-grandchildren, Bayleah and Jordan James, both of Sikeston, Jack and Owen McKenna, of Cartersville and Madelyn Brown, of Colorado Springs.
Funeral services were held at noon today, Tuesday, May 6, at the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston with the Rev. Sandra Schaller officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Park cemetery.
Pallbearers were Charlie Caldwell, Dale Springs, Ray Kelley, Jim Critchlow, Bob Watson and Mike Zaricor.
Donations may be made to the Sikeston Bootheel Humane Society, P.O. Box 1428, Sikeston, Mo. 63801or the First United Methodist Church, 1307 North Main, Sikeston, Mo. 63801.

Gracie Kneski
Gracie W. Kneski, 69, formerly of Caruthersville, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.
Born Aug. 17, 1933, in Caruthersville, daughter of the late Clarence E. and Clara Jane Ayers Johnston, she was a member of the Church of Christ.
In 1979, in Sarasota, Fla., she married
Tommy Kneski, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Kim Rembisz and husband, Richard, of Laurinburg, N.C.; two brothers, Verland Johnston, of Lexington, Ky. and Clyde Johnston, of Campbell, Mo.; two sisters, Peg Summers, of Florida and Daisy Williams, of Doniphan, Mo. and two grandchildren, Pamela Rembisz, of Greemwood, S.C. and Anthony Rembisz, of Newberry, S.C.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie cemetery at Caruthersville.
J.T. Morgan
J.T. Morgan, 74, of Campbell, Mo., died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare South in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.
Ruthie Phillips
Ruthie Mae Phillips, 82, of Kennett, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Bradshaw Fuenral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
David Pierce
David Pierce, 46, of Corning, Ark., died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Three Rivers North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born Nov. 2, 1956, in St. Louis, Mo., son of Donald Pierce and Rugh Mae Cooper Cavitt, he was a land surveyor, a truck driver and of the Missionary Baptist faith. He was a member of the McDougal Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include one son, Matthew Pierce, of Fayetteville, Ark.; one daughter, Kristen Pierce, of Fayetteville; his parents, Ruth and Thurman Cavitt, of Corning and Donald and Helen Pierce, of Corning; one brother, Donald Lynn Pierce, of Cabot, Ark.; one step-sister, Debbie Pence, of Corning and grandmother, Smantha Cooper, of Corning.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, May 6, at the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning with the Rev. Johnnie Bradshaw officiating.
Burial was in the Corning cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the McDougal Volunteer Fire Department.
James Queen
James Elmer Queen, 52, of Kennett, died Monday, May 5, 2003, at the St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Stanley Skinner
Stanley Turner Skinner, 54, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Friday, May 2, 2003, at his residence.
Born Sept. 12, 1948, in Memphis, Tenn., son of the late Leroy Skinner, Sr. and Mary Turner Skinner, he was farm laborer and attended Kinfolks Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Rose Skinner, Sabirna Kay Valley, of Blanket, Texas and Trina Kay Skinner, of Caruthersville; two sons, Stanley Dewayne and Stanley Moses Skinner, both of Caruthersville; step-mother, Hattie Fay Rudy; six sisters, Ellen Emery, Carolyn Huff, Betty Osman, Linda Dawson, Ohylen Winters and Ruby Ricker; four brothers, Jimmy Lee Skinner, Leroy Skinner, Jr., John Bowman and Clifford Gifford and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 6, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele, Mo. with the Rev. Harold Norton officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery at Steele.
Bill Stone
Bill Stone, 67, of Bernie, Mo., died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born May 18, 1935, in Peach Orchard, Mo., son of the late Elmer "Ham" and Omega Nolen Stone, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a farmer. He was a member of the Bernie United Methodist Church and the Dexter Elk's Lodge No.2439.
On May 29, 1952, in Pocahontas, Ark., he married
Jeanette White, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three sons, Danny Stone and wife, Cindy and Eddie and Dennis Stone, all of Bernie; two daughters, Debbie Pleimling and Angie Smothers and husband, Royce, all of Bernie; two brothers, Bob Stone, of Wappapello, Mo. and Jerrell Stone, of Bernie; one sister, Hytene Buesking, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home Chapel in Bernie with the Rev. Susan Marner-Sides officiating.
Burial was in the Bernie cemetery.
Lula Taylor
Lula Moore Taylor, 94, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at the Paragould Nursing Center in Paragould, Ark.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 6, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Arbyrd.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at the Calvary Full Gospel Church in Cardwell, Mo. with the Rev. Leland Dement officiating.
Burial will follow at the Cardwell cemetery.
Wanda Telker
Wanda Telker, 90, of St. Peters, Mo., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at St. Peters Manor Care Center.

Leslie Williams, Jr.
Leslie Gwen Williams, Jr., 66, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at his residence.
Born Sept. 14, 1936, in Hardyville, Ky., son of Flossie Ann Wright Williams, of Cave City, Ky. and the late Leslie Gwen Williams, Sr., he was former CEO at Colson Corporation in Caruthersville and owner & operator of Metal Fabrication Factory. He was of the Baptist faith. On Dec. 21, 1988, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., he married
Shirley Williams, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Shawn Christopher Williams, of Steele, Mo.; two daughters, Leslie Gwen Williams Crane, of Dyersburg, Tenn. and Connie Slaughter, of Louisville, Ky.; four step-sons, Johnny and Dennis Harmon, both of Caruthersville, Michael Harmon, of Lawton, Okla. and Jerry Harmon, of Sailors Point, Pa.; one sister, Elizabeth Ann Neville, of St. Padrre Island, Texas and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Bob Hunt Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City.
Burial was in the Cave City cemetery.

Kurt Winfield
Kurt Willson Winfield, 58, of Kennett, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at his residence.
Born Sept. 28, 1944, in Marblerock, Iowa, he was the son of Cathorine Irene Patton Winfield and the late Owen Curtis Winfield.
Survivors include one son, Kurt Winfield, of Atkins, Iowa; one daughter, Kimberly Warnell, of Grinnell, Iowa; his mother, Cathorine Veckert, of Mason City, Iowa and three brothers, Paul Winfield, of Arnold, Neb., Leigh Winfield, of Fort Collins, Colo. and Gary Winfield, of Grove City, Minn.

Larry Bagwell
Larry Wayne Bagwell, 53, of Hayti, Mo., died Saturday, May 3, 2003, in Lexington, Ky.
Born Jan. 13, 1950, in West Ridge, Ark., son of the late William Arthur and Celia Mae Pryor Bagwell, he was a Vietnam veteran. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.
On July 18, 1983, in Hayti, he married
Brenda Walker, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three daughters, Wendy Thompson, of Monroe, La. and Jennifer Bagwell and LaTisha Hollimon, both of Kennett; one son, Larry Bagwell II, of Kennett; one step-son, Terry Walker, of Hayti; three sisters, LaNelle Brown, of Camden, Tenn. and Sue Jackson and Joyce Darnell, both of Hayti and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Mike Tinnin officiating.
Burial with full military honors was held in the Woodlawn cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Greg, Chris, Kelly and Jeff Brown and Terry and Danny Walker.
