Grover Gargus, Jr.
Grover Allison Gargus, Jr., 69. of Troy, Tenn., died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at his residence.
Born Aug. 12, 1933, in Hayti, Mo., son of the late Grover Allison Gargus, Sr. and Ruth McCoy Gargus, he was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Protemus Presbyterian Church in Troy. He was a job setter and union steward at the Chrysler Corporation for 30 years.
In 1969, he married
Lula Milligan, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include four daughters, Carolyn Brooks, of Kennett, Ruthie McKeiver, of Lorell, Ind., Tonja Cottingham, of Gas City, Ind. and Marsha Hoillier, of Coppars Cove, Texas; three sons, Larry Gargus, of Kennett, Allen Gargus, of Mill springs, N.C. and Mark Gargus, of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Shirley Lopez, of California and Carma Jean Collins, of Michigan; one half-brother, James Gargus, of California; two step-brothers, Denny Fry, of California and Jackie Fry, of Michigan; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, June 6, at the Protemus Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Troy with James Robert Gunter officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Obion County Cancer Agency or the Protemus Presbyterian Church, c/o Betty Rhamy, 2372 W. Shawtown Rd., Troy, Tenn. 38260.

Leatrice Harris
Leatrice Davie Harris, 63, of Risco, Mo., died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at the Ridgeview Nursing Center.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating.
Burial will follow at the Macedonia cemetery in Malden.
Troy Hart
Troy Hart, 72, of Tallapoosa, Mo., died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born July 9, 1930, in Pemiscot County, Mo., son of the late William and Lou Davenport Hart, he was a farmer and a member of the Pentecostal Holliness Church in Tallapoosa.
On Sept. 4, 1964, he married
Pauline Price, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include six sons, Fred and Dean Price, both of Tallapoosa, Raymond Price, of Caruthersville, Mo., Eugene Price, of Dexter, Mo., Frank Price, of Gideon, Mo. and Jessie Price, of Bernie, Mo.; two sisters, Clara Rudd, of Wardell, Mo. and Willie Petty, of Ellington, Mo.; two brothers, Tommy Hart, of Puxico, Mo. and Frankie Hart, of Lilbourn, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters and one son.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, June 5, at the John W. German Funral Home Chapel in Hayti with the Rev. Wayne Gilmore officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.
James Green, Jr.
James Cooper Green, Jr., 56, of Hudson, Fla., formerly of Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at his residence.
Born Jan.7, 1947, in Kennett, son of the late James Cooper, Sr. and Annabell Ghyers Green, he was in the construction business as a general contractor and a member of the Kinfolks Ridge Baptist Church. He was a 3rd degree mason.
On June 17, 1974, he married
Linda Copeland, who survives of the home. Survivors also include four sons, Donnie and Shane Green, both of Caruthersville, Johnny Green, of Clarksville, Ark. and Jamie Green, of Port Richey, Fla.; one daughter, Jackie Eschete, of Houma, La.; one sister, Kwajalein Needham, of Blytheville, Ark. and 10 grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Thursday, June 5, at the Little Prairie cemetery in Caruthersville with Dr. James Adams officiating.
Pallbearers were Terry W. Copeland, Sr., Michael Emery, Ryan Hopgood, Billy L. Vanderpool, Chris Cummings, Michael D. Conn, Kevin Owens and Shane Green.

Leatrice Harris
Leatrice Davis Harris, 63, of Risco, Mo., died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at the Ridgeview Nursing Center in Malden, Mo.
Born Jan. 27, 1940, in Sunflower, Miss., daughter of the late John and Rosie Pearson Davis, she was custodian at Risco School.
On Dec. 21, 1959, in Indianola, Miss., she married
Clinton Harris, Jr., who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three sons, Johnny L. Davis, of Malden, Clinton Harris, Jr., of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. and Don Harris, of Jonesboro, Ark.; five daughters, Annie Lee Harris, of Fort Leonard Wood, Freddie Harris, of Risco, Claudia Harris, of Jonesboro, Annie Pearl Harris, of Sikeston, Mo. and Frances Harris Webster, of Wahlawa, Hawaii; one sister, Earstine Davis, of Illinois; two brothers, John L. Davis, of Mississippi and John Michael Davis, of Illinois; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at the Badshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Willie Wadley
Willie Jean Newman Wadley, 74, of Senath, Mo., died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born May 2, 1929, in Kennett, daughter of the late Gene and Stella Wafford Newman, she was a homemaker and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Kennett.
On Dec. 31, 1946, in Senath, she married
G.C. Wadley, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Danny Gene Wadley and Ricky Warren Wadley; four brothers, Charlie, Orville, Eldon and Jay Harold Newman and one sister, Ruby Brown.
Loving mother of: James Neal, Landell and David Jay Wadley, and Christy Richardson, all of Senath, Lydia Johnson, of Paragould, Ark., Lesa Barker, of Kennett and Jan Kemker, of Bartlett, Tenn.; she is also survived by one brother, Bobby Newman, of Senath; best friend, Ann O'Neal Wilson, of Senath; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Friendship Baptist Church in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Georgia Adams
Georgia Lucille Adams, 93, of Senath, Mo., died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at the Senath Nursing Center.
Born Sept. 20, 1909, in Henderson County, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late George and Lucinda Grissom Petty.
In 1929, in Paragould, Ark., she married

Survivors also include one son, John Adams and wife, Janet, of Nashville, Tenn.; one daughter, Ruth Ann Estes, of Cardwell, Mo.; one brother, Vaughn Petty, of Senath; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Loy Petty and three sisters, Vera Willis, Orine Smith and Beatrice Lindsey.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, June 10, at the Arbyrd Church of Christ in Arbyrd, Mo. with J.T. Ashby officiating.
Burial was in the Lulu cemetery at Senath.
Pallbearers were Steve, Greg and Mark Adams, Roy Hunt, Tommy Estes and Eric Kisner.

Maxine Barks
Maxine Barks, 85, of Clarkton, Mo., died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born March 1, 1918, in Holcomb, Mo., daughter of the late William Evans and Mary Ayers Evans Key, she was a homemaker and attended the Spoonerville Baptist Church in Malden, Mo.
In 1935, she married
Ruben Barks, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Glenda Jones and one grandson, James Barks, Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne James and husband, Johnny, of Saucier, Miss. and Shirley Mallett and husband, Leland, of Malden; two sons, Bobby Barks and wife, Marilyn and James Barks and wife, Lois, all of Malden; one sister, Annette Davis, of Rector, Ark.; two brothers, Doyle Key, of Mishawaka, Ind. and Donald Key, of Groves, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 10, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Blagg officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.
Marion Carpenter
Marion Ebert Carpenter, 69, of Rector, Ark., died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, Ark.
Born Nov. 6, 1933, in Rector, son of the late Henry and Myrtle Holifield Carpenter, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the V.F.W. He worked as a television technician for Dixie Appliance/Radio Shack in Kennett and was of the Southern Baptist faith.
On Nov. 6, 1997, in Kennett, he married
Carol Lee Stockton, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one daughter, Melissa Carpenter, of Jonesboro, Ark.; two step-daughters, Patty Daugherty, of Kennett and Loretta Lance, of Montreal, Mo.; three step-sons, David McNew, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Shannon Rickman and Scott Daugherty; two brothers, Herman Carpenter, of Paragould, Ark. and Marston Carpenter, of Marmaduke, Ark. and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Bryan Carpenter.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 10, at the Irby Funeral Home in Rector.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel with Kevin Sullivan officiating.
Burial will follow at the Woodland Heights cemetery in Rector.
Hazel Carter
Hazel Aline Carter, 77, of Gideon, Mo., died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born Feb. 6, 1926, in Gideon, daughter of the late Albert and Bessie Brooks Johnson, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gideon.
On July 27, 1940, in Gideon, she married
Ralph Curtis Carter, who preceded her in death on June 11, 1999. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Lou Eaker; two granddaughters, Tina and Donna Eakers; one grandson, Keith Eaker; two great-grandchildren, Roya Lea and Dylan Andrew Vanderbilt; two brothers, Fred and Harold Johnson and four sisters, Beulah Johnson, Maryetta DeMoss, Pauline Harrison and Ethel Cloud.
Survivors include three daughters, Geraldine Ashabranner and husband, Norman and Linda Skinner and husband, Mike, all of Gideon and Alice Vanderbilt and husband Bill, of Malden, Mo.; one son, Raph Gene Carter, of Gideon; one brother, Carl Johnson, of Naples, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, June 10, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Gideon with the Rev. Kelly Reed officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Park cemetery at Malden.
