Lydia Heckman
Lydia Heckman, 88, of Campbell, Mo., formerly of Ft. Collins, Colo., died Thursday, June 19, 2003, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Ark.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden, Mo.
Juanita Stewart
Juanita May DeMent Stewart, 65, of Paragould, Ark., died Thursday, June 19, 2003, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Ark.
Born Aug. 11, 1937, in Cardwell, Mo., daughter of the late Patrick Shaw and Lola Rhee DeVoll DeMent, she was the manager of the Value Outlet Store, a salesclerk at Belk's and a member of the First Assembly of God.
She married
William C. Stewart, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Fred and Charles DeMent.
Survivors include two sons, Boyce Stewart, of Gomez Palacio, Mexico and John Stewart, of Paragould; one daughter, Lola Jackson, of Paragould; four brothers, Raymond DeMent, of Bartlesville, Okla., Don DeMent, of Monroe, Va., Dale DeMent, of Mountain Home, Ark. and Glenn DeMent, of Riverside, Calif.; six sisters, Loretta Bresler, of Malibu, Calif., Faye Williams, of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Regina Southard, of Pine Grove, Calif., Reva DeMent Best, of Kapaa, Hawaii, Zelda Ingle, of Sacramento, Calif. and Iris DeMent, of Kansas City, Mo.; stepmother, Mae DeMent, of Fair Oaks, Calif.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, June 20, at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Leland DeMent officiating.
Burial will follow at the Greene County Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Pallbearers are Sam Jackson, Jason Clark, Cameron Tate, Phillip Faulkner, P.J. Faulkner and Charles Woodson.
Tommy Burr
Tommy Eugene "Red" Burr, 73, of Paragould, Ark., died Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
Born Jan. 22, 1930, in Poughkeepsie, Ark., he was a son of the late Clint and Ruby Duncan Burr.
On March 13, 1953, he married
Rose Annette Fuller who preceded him in death March 18, 2001. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Hubert Lavon Burr.
Survivors include a son, Raymond Burr of Lampasses, Texas; two daughters, Rose Ann Parrish and husband, Jimmy, of Lafe, Ark. and Judy Guillot and husband, Rick, of Paragould; two brothers, C.D. Burr of White Oak, Mo. and Jack Burr of Rector, Ark.; five sisters, Sandy Coffman of Stockman, Calif., Nadine Scallion, Sherry Faries, Sue Huggins and Sandra Burr, all of Paragould; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, June 22, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Earnie Rinks officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jeremy Parrish, Daniel Guillot, Nathan Guillot, Kevin Dickens, Burl Rogers and Billy Reed.
Helen Hughes
Helen Elizabeth Hughes, 87, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti.
Born Feb. 1, 1916, in Caruthersville, a daughter of the Late Dr. Walton Morrison Collins, Jr. and Lillian Hudgens Collins, she was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Caruthersville High School and Visitation Academy. She was a vice president of Colonial Federal Savings and Loan prior to retirement and a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and the SEMO women's Club.
Survivors include a son, Bob Hughes of Cordova, Tenn. and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Joe Campbell officiating.
Burial was in Little Prairie cemetery with H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville in charge of services.
Pallbearers were Bob Lawrence, John Martin, Rouss Hill, Mel Gale, Tom Collins and Bob Holland.
Honorary pallbearers were Dan Mucica, Cleat Stanfill, Larry Privett, Richard Michie, Bill Watkins, David Boyd and Billy Collins.
Louis Wright
Louis Harold Wright, 79, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born Aug. 5, 1923, in Steele, Mo., a son of the late David and Ruby Biggert Wright he was a graduate of Caruthersville High School. Nov. 9, 1942, in Little Rock, Ark., he entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged Jan. 28, 1946 at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. He was awarded a Bronze Star. Prior to retirement, he was a switchman for Southwestern Bell Telephone. He was a Methodist.
On March 13, 1946, in Hernando, Miss., he married
Jean Bostic, who survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Mike Wright of Caruthersville and Dennis Wright of Van Buren, Mo., one daughter, Betty Russell of Perryville, Mo. and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, June 20, at H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
Burial was in Maple cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tom Swift, Jack W. Hubbard, Jr., Joe Prather, Tom Hill, John Clyde Thompson and Dave Wilkerson.
Jim Brown
Jim L. Brown, 54, of Bernie, Mo., died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at his residence.
Born Oct. 5, 1948, in Gideon, Mo., son of the late James Earl Brown and Pansy Lucille Jones Brown Hicks, he worked at Specialty Engineering in Dexter, Mo. and was a member of the Bernie General Baptist Church.
On Sept. 27, 1991, in Powe, Mo., he married
Annetta Lee Craft, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Jared Lee Brown, of Bernie; two daughters, Kandi Lynn Brown and Trina Carol Stevens, both of Bernie; one brother, Wyman Brown, of Gideon, Mo.; two sisters, Barbara Bradfield, of Campbell, Mo. and Edna Merritt, of Bernie and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and W.R. Brown.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 24, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Masters officiating.
Burial will follow at the Bernie cemetery.
Margaret Brown
Margaret F. Brown, 54, of Kennett, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Born Dec. 4, 1948, in Kennett, daughter of Roy R. Batchlor, of Kennett and Zula L. Lipsey, she was a home care worker for Bootheel Independent Living.
Survivors also include three sons, Gary D. Bridges, Randall Laws and wife, Lynn and Timothy R. Laws, all of Kennett; one daughter, Tammie Eliason and husband, Ron, of Waggoner, Ill.; two brothers, Gary P. Batchlor and wife, Carolyn and Jackie T. Batchlor, all of Kennett and four grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at noon today, Tuesday, June 24, at the Rovey cemetery in Farmersville, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home of Virden, Ill. was in charge of arrangements.
Jackie Bostic
Jackie Lee Bostic, 61, of Gideon, Mo., died Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born May 6, 1942, in Parma, Mo., son of Dorothy Vergene Wright Bostic Brown and the late Hubert Lee Bostic, he was of the Baptist faith.
On Nov. 27, 1981, in Malden, Mo., he married
Diana Faye Heck, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include six daughters, Lolita Gower and husband, James, of Portageville, Mo.; Carol Ann Turner and husband, Kenneth, of Malden; Rebecca Henson and husband, Tim and Sarita Martin and husband, Greg, all of Bernie, Mo., Sabrina McKee and husband, Jerry, of Gideon and Felicia Houart and husband, Clinton, of Piggott, Ark.; two sons, Robert Wyman and wife, Tina, of Holcomb, Mo. and Michael Wyman and wife, Venessa, of Gideon; mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Elgin Brown, of Gideon; three brothers, Joe Bostic and wife, Carmen, of Jefferson City, Mo., Jim Bostic, of Gideon and Elgin Brown, Jr. and wife, Teresa, of Bauxite, Ark.; one sister, Mary Moore and husband, Don, of Wappapello, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.
Burial was in the Rosewood cemetery at Malden.
Georgia Dial
Georgia Lee Dial, 93, of Rolla, Mo., formerly of Caruthersville, Mo., died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla.
Born Feb. 16, 1910, near Halls, Tenn., daughter of the late Henry and Allie Montgomery Anges, she worked for Brown Shoe Company and was a member of the Church of Christ in Caruthersville.
In 1928, she married
Mallie Hughes, who preceded her in death on May 16, 1957. She married
Bernie Dial, in 1967. He preceded her in death in 1978. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Butha Faye Hughes; two brothers, Ewell and Bill Anges and three sisters, Mazie Tombs, Flossie Bridges and Allie Mechim.
Survivors include three sons, Horace Hughes and wife, Delpha, of Caruthersville, York Hughes and wife, Jeanette, of Mountain Grove and Reb Hughes and wife, Sandra, of Nashville, Tenn.; one daughter, Brenda Roberts and husband, Alton, of Rolla; three sisters, Virgie Richardson, of Texas, Frances Starr, of Arkansas and Anna Laura Francis, of California; seven grandchildren, Kitty Teeter, Teresa Noel, Terri Kenney, Annette Shepard, David and Danny Roberts and Christy McNeese; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at the Central Church of Christ with Mike McDaniel officiating.
Burial was in the Maple cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Mott, Ralph Carlton, Banks Bridges, Denver Meek, Bill Broderick and David Teeter.
Honorary pallbearer was Perry McDonald.

Gary Gurley
Gary Paul Gurley, 60, of Kennett, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 24, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles James officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Randall Harper
Randall Delbert Harper, 60, of Fayetteville, Ark., died Friday, June 20, 2003, at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville.
Born Dec. 30, 1942, in Kennett, son of the late Delbert and Jerry Harper, he was in the banking industry.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Harper and one sister, Jahnae H. Barnett, of Fulton, Mo.
Private graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 20, at the Little Prairie cemetery in Caruthersville with the Rev. Paul Currie officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Jerry and Delbert Harper Scholarship Fund at William Woods University, One University Avenue, Fulton, Mo. 65251.
