Freddie Bell, Jr.
Freddie Bell, Jr., 70, of Pontiac, Mich., died Friday, July 18, 2003, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born Feb. 3, 1933, in Greenwood, Miss., son of the Freddie Bell, Sr. and the late Mary Lee Bell, he was a member of the St. John United Methodist Church in Pontiac and a retiree from GMC Pontiac Motors.
Survivors include his father, Freddie Bell, Sr., of Caruthersville, Mo.; one son, Freddie Bell, III, of Pontiac; his fiance, Madeliene Sullivan, of Pontiac; three brothers, Jesse Lee Bell and wife, Etta, Phedentry Bell and wife, Peggy and Henry Bell, all of Caruthersville; five sisters, Annie Lee Prather and husband, Wille C., Willie Mae Taylor, Malissie Harris and Martha Driver, all of Caruthersville and Mary Ann Tyner and husband, Oscar, of Gaithersburg, Md. and one step-granddaughter, Katrina George, of Pontiac.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sammie Lee and Tommy lee Bell.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Frederick B. Moore, Sr. and Bishop James L. Lane officiating.
Burial was in the Morgan Ridge cemetery at Caruthersville.
Geraldine Grant
Geraldine Grant, 74, of Malden, Mo., died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at her residence.

Carl Howard, 85, of Holcomb, Mo., died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Ruby Huggins
Ruby Huggins, 80, of Paris, Texas, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at her residence.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Arbyrd, Mo.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at the Lulu cemetery at Senath, Mo. with the Rev. Leland Dement officiating.
Ollie Jones
Ollie Riggs Jones, 83, of Overland, Mo., formerly of Senath, Mo., died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at the Woodland Nursing Home in Maryland Heights, Mo.
Born Dec. 9, 1919, in Senath, daughter of the late Andrew and Beulah Goswick Jones, she was a school teacher.
Survivors include her husband, Rogers F. Jones, of Overland; three sons, Rogers F. Jones, Jr. and David R. Jones, both of Overland and Stephen R. Jones, of Ferguson, Mo.; two brothers, Roy Riggs, of Senath and J.M. Riggs, of Overland; two sisters, Irma Duke, of Overland and Andelee Gebhardt, of O'Fallon, Mo.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at the McGrew cemetery with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
Pallbearers are Stephen, Roger and David Jones, Mark Gebhardt and Ted Moody.
Geraldean Grant
Geraldean "Gerry" Grant, 74, of Malden, Mo., died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at her residence.
Born Aug. 28, 1928, in Augusta, Ark., daughter of the late James and Magnolia Fobbs, she was a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Malden, where she served as president of the Usher Board, chairperson of the Benevolence Fund, member of the WMU and kitchen committee and served on the Friendship District Consolidation Association of the Ushers Auxiliary. She was head dietician of the Ridgeview Nursing Manor.
She married
Willie Grant, who preceded her in death in Nov. 1967. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Frances Couch and Bernice Norman and two brothers, Earnest Fobbs and Jack Green.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Burton and husband, L.C., of Kansas City, Mo., Delores Aikens and husband, Tony, of Kokomo, Ind., Katheryn Fobbs, of Jackson, Mo. and Debra Grant, of Malden; one adopted son, Rainey Mosbley, of Portageville, Mo.; one sister, Deborah Ross and husband, Halloween, of Jonesboro, Ark.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at the Landess Funral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Malden with the Revs. L.L. Williams and Otis L. Hawes, Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the Macedonia cemetery in Malden. veteran
Carl Howard
Carl Calvin Howard, 85, of Holcomb, Mo., died Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born April 9, 1918, in Holcomb, son of the late Carl Calvin Howard, Sr., and Irene Steele Howard, he was a retired bookkeeper for Kennett Oil Mill, a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was a member of the Holcomb Baptist Church.
On August 12, 1939, in Van Buren, Mo., he married
Lucille Young who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two daughters, Karen Rose Howard of Holcomb and Linda Kay Rosamond and husband, Henry, of Whittier, NC. and one sister Wanda Woodall of Clarkton, Mo.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ernestine Howard.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, July 31 at the Woodlawn cemetery-Landess addition in Campbell, Mo., with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.
Landess Funeral Home of Campbell was in charge of arrangements.
Ruby Huggins
Ruby Frances Huggins, 80, of Paris, Texas, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at her residence.
Born April 15, 1923, in West Plains, Mo., daughter of the late Louis and Bertha Davidson, she was a member of the Paris Church of God.
On April 29, 1941, in Cardwell, Mo., she married
Jack Huggins, who preceded her in death on December 29, 1993.
Survivors include one son, Larry Huggins and wife, Nora of Paris, Texas; one daughter, Carolyn Herron and husband, Grady of Longview, Texas; four brothers, Fred, Glenn Ray, Cecil and Bob Davidson; three sisters, Joyce Malone of Arbyrd, Mo., Ella Mae Pritchard, and Maxine Sanders; five grandchildren, Tania Reily, Kevin and Victoria Huggins, Jason Herron and Gina Herron; four great-grandchildren, Jacob and Brittany Huggins, Zach and Keri Herron.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, July 31 at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Arbyrd.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 1, at the Lulu cemetery at Senath with the Rev. Leland Dement officiating.

Bobbie Mitchell, 72, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Matthew Young
Matthew Lane Young, 1-month, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born June 5, 2003, in Kennett, he was the son of Matt Young and Brooke Gibson of Caruthersville.
Survivors also include a special brother, Dylan Babcock, of Caruthersville; maternal grandparents, Richard and Dawn Goodale, of Caruthersville; paternal grandparents, Frank Young, of West Plains, Mo. and Cylene Wallace, of Billings, Mo.; maternal great-grandparents, Carl and Nancy Goodale, Pat and Joyce Gibson and Dollie Peeler, all of Caruthersville and paternal great-grandparents, David and Christine Brewer, of Mammoth Springs, Ark.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at the Temple Baptist Church in Caruthersville with the Rev. Jim Pilcher officiating.
Burial was in the Maple cemetery at Caruthersville.

Dessie Carter
Dessie Mae Carter, 95, of Senath, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at the Senath Nursing Center.
Born Aug. 22, 1907, in Kennett, she was the daughter of the late Nancy Lee Battles Wallace.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Carter and wife, Sheila, of Kennett and one grandson, Terry Smith, of Kennett.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Claude Wallace and two sisters, Sweetlocks Wallace and Dora DePriest.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Jackie Jackson officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Brandon, Joshua and Hank Carter, Glen Duford, Darren Crawford and Michael McLamore.
Rontrez Carter
Rontrez Carter, 13, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Friday, July 11, 2003.
Born April 12, 1990, in Caruthersville, son of Stephanie Carter and Ronnie Smith of Caruthersville, he attended Caruthersville Middle School and was active at the Oasis Center.
Survivors also include four brothers, Ronnie, Dariea, Eddie and Jordan; five sisters, Reginika, Kalona, Alexandra, Ashley and Keirra; stepmother, Shondra Smith; grandmothers, Ellieree Carter and Georgia Smith; one grandfather, James Rodgers; one step-sister, Tysheunna and three step-brothers, Dau'Savion, Willie and Tevin.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, at the Morgan Ridge cemetery at Caruthersvile.

Clarence Graham
Clarence E. Graham, 84, of Gideon, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born March 7, 1919, in Union, Tenn., son of the late Jeff and Edna South Graham, he was of the Baptist faith and a retired farmer.
On January 11, 1941, in Wardell, Mo., he married
Virgina Wilson, who preceded him in death on July 24, 2001. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Ricky Lee Downing; one granddaughter, Kari Lynn Graham; one sister, Bessie Pearson and six brothers, Art, Henry, William, Elton, Elroy and Calvin Graham.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Graham of St. Louis, Mo., and Dale Graham of Sikeston, Mo.; four daughters, Martha Downing and husband, Lee, of Gideon, Peggy Hicks of St. Louis, Joyce Armstrong and husband, Bill, of Gideon, and Linda Kemp and husband, Eddie, of Poplar Bluff; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 1, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon.
Funeral services will held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Earnest Puckett officiating.
Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.
