Bobbie Mitchell
Bobbie Jean Mitchell, 72, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born March 8, 1931, in Cardwell, Mo., daughter of the late James A. and Luttie Mae Ketchum Taylor, she was a member of the Gideon Church of Chirst.
On August 9, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., she married
Aflred "Cotton" Mitchell, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Steve Mitchell and wife, Marcy, of Malden; one daughter, Phyllis Tolbert and husband, Jack, of Gideon, Mo.; one brother, Junior Taylor, of Senath, Mo.; one granddaughter, Tabatha Smothers of Malden; one grandson, Jeff Mitchell of Malden; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., today, Friday, Aug. 1, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 2, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David McElwain officiating.
Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.
Landon Pritchett
Landon Robert Pritchett, infant, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at the Baptist Hospital in Blytheville, Ark.
Born July 29, 2003, at Blytheville, He was the son of Robin and Penny Robertson Pritchett of Steele, Mo.
Survivors also include one sister, Kaitlyn Marie Pritchett, of Steele; maternal grandparents, Glenn and Shirley Robertson, of Steele; paternal grandparents, Robin and Cathy Pritchett, of Rives, Mo.; paternal grandmother, Vickie Crawford, of Wardell, Mo.; paternal great-grandparents, Robert and Freda Pritchett, of Rives and paternal great-grandmother, Mary Fincher, of Tennessee.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funral Home in Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glyn Davis officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion cemetery at Steele.
Josie Smith
Josie Marie Smith, 90, of Bernie, Mo., died Friday, August 1, 2003.
Born on September 17, 1912 in Bernie, a daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel Jennette Jordan Grayum, she had been a interior decorator during her life. She was a poet and had been published in the Daily Statesman newspaper of Dexter, Mo. She was very active in her local church, with her husband serving as deacon for over 30 years, and had been involved in the local Church Missionary Society. She had also been playing the piano since the age of 9 in the churches and had enjoyed playing gospel music all though her life.
One March 25, 1933 in Piggott, Ark., she married
Charles Franklin Smith, who preceded her in death on December 29, 1988.
Survivors include Gaylon Grayum Smith of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Charles E. Smith, of Bernie, and David Lee Smith of Belleville, Ill.; three daughters, Nancy Jane Dockins of O'Fallon, Mo., Shirley Ann Grimes of Humbolt, Tenn., and Kay Jenkins of Dexter, Mo.; one sister, Norma McCoy of Dexter; 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, William Grayum, six sisters, Dora Latham, Forrest Whitehead. Thelma Wilcox, and three sisters at infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, August 3, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Wells officiating.
Burial will be in the Bernie cemetery.
Howard Nichols
Howard Eugene Nichols, 85, of Guntersville, Ala., died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Ala.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath, Mo.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Lulu cemetery in Senath.
Thelma Parker
Thelma Marie Parker, 79, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.
Born Jan. 26, 1924, in Gideon, Mo., daughter of the late Peter David and Eula Robertson Mitchem, she was a member of the Full Gospel of God Church in Malden.
Survivors include two sons, Henry and Vernon Maxwell, both of Malden; one daughter, Kathy Foley, of Piggott, Ark.; one sister, Lucy Hillman, of Clarkton, Mo.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Ray Fowler officiating.
Burial was in the Stanfield cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.

Pat Sale, 64, of Malden, Mo., formerly of Gideon, Mo., died today, Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Three Rivers Healthcare-North Campus in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Landess Funeral Home of Malden.
Gerald Vaughn
Gerald Vaughn, 71, of Cardwell, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at the Senath Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Arbyrd, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Cardwell cemetery.
Marguerite Vineyard
Marguerite Elizabeth Vineyard, 89, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born April 23, 1914, in St. Francis, Ark., daughter of the late David and Marguerite Elizabeth Hoyt Hanna, she was a homemaker and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden.
On Jan. 9, 1935, in Piggott, Ark., she married
Jonathan David Vineyard, who preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1971. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Russell, Ernest, Charles and David Hanna and three sisters, Elsie Slater, Hazel Fritz and Mary Louis Karlish.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Vineyard, Sr. and wife, Louise, of Jonesboro and Kenneth Vineyard and wife, Maureen, of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren, Yvonne Clark and Richard Vineyard, both of Jonesboro, Phillip Vineyard, of Pine Bluff, Ark. and Kevin and Kyle Vineyard, both of St. Louis and five great-grandchildren, Courtney, Jonathan, Tyler, Alyson and Sarah.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden with the Rev. Ernie Nelson officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Park cemetery at Malden.
Landess Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
Mazie Cook
Mazie Ballinger Cook, 85, of Kennett, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 4, 1917, in Casa, Ark., daughter of the late Charlie and Minerva Coats Crawford, she was a social worker and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She married
Milton Ballinger, who preceded her in death. She later married
L.C. Cook, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Carole LaDonne "Donnie" Ballinger Hooker and three brothers, Percy Odell, Howard and A.J. Crawford.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Ballinger, of Venice, Fla.; one brother, Charlie Crawford, of Kennett; two sisters, Pebble Clevenger and Lucille Clevenger, both of Kennett; three grandchildren, Terri Ballinger, of Clearwater, Fla., Heath Hooker, of Leachville, Ark. and Scott Ballinger, of Jonesboro, Ark. and one great-grandchild, Dylan Dennehy.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Revs. Paul Lanning and Richard Combs officiating.
Burial was in the Senath cemetery at Senath, Mo.
James Gurlen
James Kevin Gurlen, 39, of Malden, Mo., died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at his residence.
Born April 30, 1964, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., son of James L. "Bud" Gurlen, of Poplar Bluff and Lorene Rogers Gurlen Carlson, of Cape Girardeau, Mo, he was a member of the First Christian Church in Malden.
On April 9, 1983, in Malden, he married
Tammy Marie Dowdy, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one daughter, Shannon Gurlen, of Malden; three brothers, Shane Glover, of Cape Girardeau and Joshua and Jesse Gurlen, both of Poplar Bluff and a grandmother, Marie Rogers, of Poplar Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ross and Josie Gurlen and Clarence Rogers.
Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Phillips officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.
Juanita Hornbuckle
Juanita Hornbuckle, 79, of Paragould, Ark., died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
Born Oct. 14, 1923, in Manila, Ark., daughter of the late William J. and Spicy Bowman Wright, she was a homemaker, an aircraft assembler during WWII and of the Baptist faith.
She married
Wilven D. Hornbuckle, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Linda J. Craft; two brothers, Martin Cob and Henry Wright and one sister, Mary Camp.
Survivors include two brothers, J.C. Wright, of Benton, Ark. and Leo Wright, of Stuttgart, Ark.; one sister, Lemeno Pearsall, of Dexter, Mo.; two grandchildren, Connie White, of Paragould and Carl Lee, of Kennett; four great-grandchildren, Lindsey Glidwell, Adam White and David and Alex Lee and two great-great-grandchildren, Jeffery Glidwell and Nikki Nicole Franklin.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Heath Funeral Home in Paragould.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Winn officiating.
Burial will be in the Greene County Memorial Gardens cemetery at Paragould.
Pallbearers will be Tim and Adam White, Carl, Alex and David Lee and Steve Floyd.

Daniel Thomas Masterson, Jr., 74, of Kennett, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at the Missouri Delta Hospital in Sikeston, Mo.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Sat. Aug. 16, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.
