Josie Seaman
Josie McLain Seaman, 86, of Kennett, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2003 at National Health Care of Kennett.
Born Feb. 11, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Sherman William and Emmer Busch Taylor.
She married
Thomas Orven McLain who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Charles McLain, of Topeka, Kan; four daughters, Frieda Noonon and husband, Jimmy, of Senath, Mo.; Kathy Burcham and husband, Orville, of Cardwell, Mo., Brenda Sessems and husband, Jerry, of DeSoto, Mo. and Doris Smith of Kennett; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas McLain, one daughter, Shirley Jean McLain, two brothers Lex Taylor and Henry Taylor; one sister, Adah McCorckle and two grandchildren, Tony Burcham and Charles McLain.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Aug. 17, at the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Senath, with Greg Pollock officiating.
Burial will be in McGrew cemetery.
Pallbearers are Orville Burcham, Jerry Sessums, Jimmy Noonon, Terry Burcham, Earl Dean Taylor and Tommy McLain.
Mary Woodruff
Mary Madeline Woodruff, 80, of Puxico, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born April 28, 1923, in Dudley, Mo., a daughter of the late Logan W. and Mildred Hutchcraft Clark, she was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church near Puxico.
On Nov. 23, 1940, she married
Samuel Woodcraft in Bloomfield, Mo. He preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1999.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Woodruff of Jackson, Mo., four daughters, Donna Lewis of Lafayette, Tenn., Luann Baugher of Puxico, Doris Seabaugh of Holcomb, Mo. and Marlene Lowe of Kennett; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Dean and Dennis Elton Woodruff.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. today, Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel with the Rev. Ray Placher officiating.
Burial will be in the Taylor cemetery near Essex, Mo.
Hardie Craft
Hardie "Ollie" Craft, 76, of Kennett, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at his residence.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Lois Ellis
Lois Wiedeman Ellis, 58, of Kennett, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Duane Dutka officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Thomas Irvin
Thomas Harold Irvin, 54, of Wappapello, Mo., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born Nov. 29, 1948 in Malden, son of Loman Thomas Irvin of Malden and the late Lois Weston Irvin, he was a retired electrical lineman, past assistant vice commander of the Sons of the American Legion in Malden, former member of the Malden Jaycees and formerly served on the Malden Reserve Auxiliary Police and Resuce Team. He was a member of the Spoonerville Baptist Church in Malden.
On Sept. 3, 1966 in Risco, Mo., he married
Mary Joyce Rader Irvin, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Wayne Irvin and wife, Jeanie, of Malden; mother-in-law, Alta Rader, of Risco; two grandsons, T.J. and Trever Irvin, both of Malden and three sisters, Martha Sue Walker, of DeSoto, Mo., Joyce Becker, of Portageville, Mo., and Louise Stevens, of Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 19 at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Revs. Richard Blagg and Amos Dees officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.
Storm Martinez
Storm Martinez, 14, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born Sept. 11, 1988 in Naples, Fla., daugther of Joe and Carmen Harris Martinez of Caruthersville, she was member of the Catholic Church and attended Caruthersville Schools.
Survivors include one brother, Joe Martinez, of Caruthersville; one sister, Deseree Martinez, of Caruthersville and grandparents, Mary Harris,of Doniphan, Mo. and Francis Martinez, of Immokalee, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with Father Joe Campbell officiating.
Myrtle McPherson
Myrtle McPherson, 86, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at the Pemiscot County Nursing Home in Hayti, Mo.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Mike McDaniel officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Otis Powell
Otis C. Powell, 85, of Steele, Mo. died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at his residence. Born March 11, 1918, in Supply, Ark., son of the late James and Mary Hillard Powell, he was a U.S. Army veteran and a farm laborer. He was of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors include 13 sons; three daughters; two brothers; two sisters; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Merill and Paula.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Moss officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion cemetery in Steele.
James Sellers
James A. Sellers, 79, of Kennett, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at his residence.
Born Nov. 26, 1923, in Conway, Ark., son of the late Namon and Nora Maude Matthews Sellers, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WWII.
On July 10, 1979, in Pascola, Mo., he married
Chirs Wilson, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Sonny Bailey and wife, Lou Jean, of Coldwater, Miss.; two daughters, Patsy Bailey and Beverly Counts and husband, Gerald, all of Kennett; one brother, Raymond Sellers, of Lebanon, Mo.; two sisters, Charleen Mitchell, of Kennett and Lois Brashers, of Lubbock, Texas; three grandchildren, Brad Pate, Stacey Bailey and Betsy Smith and three great-grandchildren, Kelsey Walton, Brittney Pate and Kristopher Andrew Smith.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Pate; five brothers, Leon, Carl, Donald, Clyde and Tom Sellers and one sister, Hazel Phipps.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Don Slatton oficiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Gaylon Mullins, Gerald Counts and Tom, Justin, Jim and Junior Wilson.
Agnes Watkins
Agnes Cleo "Granny" Watkins, 92, of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday Aug. 12, 2003 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville, Ark.
Born Aug. 18, 1911 in Swift, Mo., daughter of the late Tom and Annie Hounihan, she was of the Pentecost faith.
On Jan. 9, 1927 in Lepanto, Ark., she married
Jody Watkins, who preceded her in death on June 21, 1975. She was also preceded in death by four children, Junior, Eugene, Wayne and Corina Watkins; one grandson, Joey Watkins; one great-grandchild; four sisters, Louise, Rovella, Evelyn and Gladie and two brothers, Truitt and Dan Hounihan. Survivors include one daughter, Almeta Russom and husband, J.W., of Hayti; five grandchildren, Jim Russom, of St. Peters, Mo., Lawanda Stillions and Lateshia Russom, both of Goodman, Mo., Kevin Russom, of Hayti and Richie Watkins, of Braggadocio, Mo.; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug.15, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Rev. John Keel officiating.
Burial was in the Dry Bayou cemetery north of Hayti.
Pallbearers were David Stillions, Joe Dale Tilmon, Terry Joe Walker, Chris Wooten and Chris and Varnell Russom.
Hardie Craft
Hardie "Ollie" Craft, 76, of Kennett, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at his residence.
Born Nov. 28, 1926, in Swinton, Mo., son of the late Hardie B. and Ella Mae Underwood Craft, he served the City of Kennett as a councilman and was a member of the Planning Commission and Dunklin County Ambulance Board. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Past Master of Kennett Lodge No. 38 and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.
On Nov. 22, 1950, he married
Vera Cooper, who survives of the home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Bob Redman, James Lowry, Tommy Striegel, Mike Hunter, Don Wall and Tom Kinsey.
Lois Ellis
Lois Wiedeman Ellis, 58, of Kennett, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born May 5, 1945, in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of Julie Kindakor Wiedeman, of Paragould, Ark. and the late Richard Wiedeman.
Survivors also include one daughter, Jerry Lyn Ellis, of Kennett; one half-brother, Phillip Wiedeman, of California. and companion, Ron Hill, of Kennett.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Duane Dutka officaiting.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Gary Hill, Ronnie Hill, Jr., Lonnie Hyde, Ken Lawrence, Phillip Wiedman and Gary Medley.
