Joe Thompson

Joe Thompson, 77, of Senath, Mo., died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Methodist Hospital North in Memphis, Tenn.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at the First Baptist Church in Senath with the Revs. Doug Clinton and Derek Combs officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.

Joyce Banks

Joyce Alta Banks, 58, of Malden, Mo., died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell, Mo.

Born Jan. 13, 1943, in Wild Cherry, Ark., daughter of the late David Love and Altie Anderson Porterfield, she was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.

Survivors include two brothers, James Porterfield, of Pinefield, Ark. and Dolan Porterfield, of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Hazel Wyatt and Nellie Steele, both of Calico Rock, Ark.; her foster mother, Ruly L. Dawson, of Malden, Mo. and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Doris Banks, of Malden.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden with the Revs. Fred Albright and Carl Land officiating.

Graveside services were also held at 1 p.m. today, Tuesdsay, Oct. 2, at the Wild Cherry cemetery in Wild Cherry.

Charles Bennett

Charles Bennett, 58, of Caruthersville, Mo. formerly of Kennett, died today, Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Pemiscot County Hospital in Hayti, Mo.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.

Mildred Farley

Mildred Viola Batson Farley, 97, of Alton, Ill., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at the Elder Care Nursing Home in Alton.

Born Sept. 18, 1904, in St. Louis, Mo., daughter of the late Frank Mitchell and Mary Frances Kennedy Batson, she was a retired music teacher and Western Union equipment mechanic, a former member of the Malden Culture Club, Adene Keller Music Club, vice-president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and a graduate of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in St. Louis at the age of 72 tyears. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Malden.

She married Dauris E. Polen, Sr. and later married John Farley. Both preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Schlechte, of Alton, Mary Alice Jantosik, of St. Louis and Mildred Audrey Laybourn, of Grand Junction, Colo.; three sisters, Ruth Hildebrand, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Charlotte Williams, of Caruthersville, Mo. and Esther Imogean Prince, of San Jose, Calif; one brother, David Francis Batson and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sons, Dauris Polen, Jr., Homer Eugene Polen and twin sons who died in infancy and one daughter, Shirlene Cotner.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Robert Morgan officiating.

Burial was in the Park cemetery at Malden.

Lillie Hanners

Lillie Hanners, 89, of Kennett, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Natonal HealthCare in Kennett.

Born June 18, 1912, in Hornersvile, Mo., she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Louella Cook Hanners.

Survivors include three daughters, June White and Kathy Jefferson, both of Kennett and Bonnie Rogers, of Booneville, Miss.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Horner cemetery in Hornersville with the Rev. Raymond Pool officiating.

Pallbearers were Bobby and Rob Rogers, Mike Nichols and Matthew Pearson.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of the arrangements.

Wilda Hillis

Wilda Mae Monroe Holmes Hillis, 91, of Marble Hill, Mo., formerly of Campbell, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at the Advance Nursing Home in Advance, Mo.

Born Jan. 4, at Piggott, Ark., daughter of the late J.W. and Lou Williams Monroe, she was a homemaker and a member of the Whitaker Chapel General Baptist Church in Campbell. She married C.O. Holmes, who preceded her in death in 1975 and she later married Robert A. Hillis, who preceded her in death in 1996.

Ssurvivors include one son, Donald R. Holmes and wife, Lavern, of Marble Hill; two grandchildren, Lisa Gowen and husband, Robert, of Marble Hill and Donald Holmes, Jr. and wife, Kathleen, of Advance; three great-grandchildren, Rachel Isenman, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Anna Ware, of Marble Hill and Boby Gowen, of Columbia, Mo. and three great-great-grandchildren, Jenny Marie Ware, of Marble Hill and Kobie Ace and Dakota James Isenman, both of Poplar Bluff.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl, Lloyd, Lowell and Paul Monroe and two sisters, Mabel Wharf and Loraine Johnson.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will folow at the Woodlawn cemetery in Campbell.

John James

John James, 84, of Senath, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Senath First Baptist Church with Revs. Derek Combs and Dale Rickman officiating.

Beverly McGuire

Beverly Jane McGuire, 69, of Farmington, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001.

Born April 11, 1932, in St. Louis, Mo., daughter of the late Marvin and Clara Gregory Allen, she worked at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett and Cooper Oil Co. in Farmington, before her retirement.

Survivors include her husband, Donald McGuire, of Farmington; two sons, Richard McGuire, of Steelville and Bruce McGuire and wife, Kelly, of Clarksville ; one daughter, Jennifer May and husband, Andrew, of St. Charles; two brothers, Gene Allen and wife, Jean and Kenneth Allen and wife, Sheila, all of Farmington; one sister, Reba Mell and husband, Robert, of Farmington; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 28, at the First Baptist Church in Farmington with Dr. William Miller officiating.

Burial was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ste. Genevieve County, Mo.

Pallbearers were Randy Allen, Greg, Mike, Dennis and Terry Mell and Brad and Dennis Downs.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care, Inc., the Farmington First Baptist Church and the Farmington Masonic Lodge Elevator Fund.

Cozean Memorial Chapel in Farmington was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Milburn

Robert Franklin Milburn, 91, of Rector, Ark., died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.

Born Dec. 31, 1909, in Grenway, Ark., he was retired from General Motors and and of the Church of Christ faith.

Survivors include two sons, Cary Milburn, of Flint, Mich. and David Milburn, of Bloomington, Ind.; two daughters, Rita Carter and husband, Jim, of Davison, Mich. and Betty Maguffee, of Mt. Home, Ark.; one sister, Lillie Bolen, of Southgate, Mich.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Ken Roden officiating.

Burial was in the Woodland Heights cemetery at Rector.

Della Miller

Della May Miller, 91, of Wardell, Mo., died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Nursing Home in New Madrid, Mo.

Born Sept. 27, 1910, in Wardell, daughter of the late Jack and Addie Clifton Estes, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

In 1925, at Wardell, she married George Miller, who preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1961.

Survivors include two sons, Lewis Miller and wife, Genevieve, of Wardell and John Miller and wife, Frances, of Malden, Mo.; one half-sister, Alline Scott, of Morehouse, Mo.; two half-brothers, Hubert Hill, of Morehouse and Woodrow Hill, of Seminole, Okla.; one step-sister, Claudine Weaver, of Shreveport, La.; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home Chapel in Wardell with Rev. Griff Walker officiating.

Burial was in the Wardell Memorial cemetery.

Erma Presson

Erma Geraldine Presson, 86, of Rector, Ark., died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Rector.

Born July 13, 1915, in Piggott, Ark., daughter of the late Walter and Geneva Boyd Wimberley, she was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Rector and of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Leon Presson, of Rector; one daughter, JoAnn Kirklin and husband, Don, of Rector; two brothers, Weldon Wimberley, of Rector and Ted Wimberley, of Conroe, Texas and two grandchildren Scott Kirklin and Leigh Ann Beshears, both of Rector.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Boyd Wimberley. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at the First Baptist Church in Rector with Ardell Polk officiating. Burial was in the Woodland Heights cemetery at Rector.

Pallbearers were Mark Thomas, Joey Pruett, Doyne Webb, Melvin Crockett, Sherland Hamilton and Don Mosley.

Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector was in charge of arrangements.

John Henry James

John Henry James, 84, of Senath, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Nov. 4, 1916, in Senath, he was the son of the late Frank and Dora Lawson James.

On Sept. 6, 1941, in Senath, he married Woodie Lee Martin, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two sons, Charles James and wife, Lynne, of O'Fallon, Mo. and John James and wife, Connie, of Woodstock, Ga.; two daughters, Linda Vandermause, of Austin, Texas and Teresa Wood and husband, Floyd, of Little Rock, Ark.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse and Lloyd James and three sisters, Dorothy Bridgeforth, Lanell Hayes and Lucille Doxon.

Funeral services were held a 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the First Baptist Church in Senath with the Revs. Derek Combs and Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial was in the Senath cemetery.

Pallbearers were Darrell Wheeler, Kavin, John Michael, Keven Lynn and Steven Holmes and David James. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Wayne Holmes, Joe Thompson and Darrell Briggs. McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of arrangements.

Georgia Mae Saunders

Georgia Mae Saunders, 80, of Senath, Mo., died Tuesday Oct. 2, 2001, at her residence.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Lulu cemetery in Senath.
