Esker Lee Swain
Esker Lee Swain, 51, of Cardwell, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSota in Southaven, Miss.
Born July 4, 1950, in Luxora, Ark., son of the late Jesse Gordon and Mary Joyce Swain, he was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Swain, of Cardwell; one son, Brian Swain, of Cardwell; five brothers, Gordon Swain, of Arkansas, Greg and Ricky Swain, both of Paragould, Ark., Jerry Swain, of Rector, Ark. and Jim Swain, of Batavia, Ill. and three sisters, Shirley Burgwald, of Batavia, Sherry Hickman, of Enid, Okla. and Irene Mathis, of Wisconsin.
Graveside sevices will be held Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Cardwell cemetery with Rev. Dwight Harrison officiating.
Pallbearers are Ricky, Jerry and Greg Swain, Sammy and Brad McPherson, Bob Gillion, Chris Hardin and Jimmy Dozier.
Memorials may be made to the Cardwell cemetery Fund or the Cardwell cemetery Road Fund.
Heath Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.
Charles Bennett
Charles Bennett, 58, of Caruthersville, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born April 22, 1943, in Hornersville, Mo., he was the son of the late Smith and Maxine Thornton Bennett.
Survivors include one sister, Sue Wilbur, of Cooter, Mo. He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Bennett and one sister, Rosalee Bennett.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Mt. Zion cemetery in Steele, Mo.
Anna Jean Guinn
Anna Jean Guinn, 68, of Newport, Ark., died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at her residence.
Born Oct. 25, 1932, daughter of Atheleen Greer, of Newport and the late R.A. 'Tom' Greer, she was employed at Merchants & Planters Bank in Newport until her retirement and was a member of the Newport First Baptist Church.
On Dec. 7, 1956, she married
O.E. "Pete" Guinn, Jr., who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, William Greer and wife, Shayla, of Mandeville, La. and Bruce Alton Greer and wife, Tracy, of Bella Vista; one daughter, Lynn Guinn Denton and husband, Billy, of Harrisburg, Ark.; three sisters, Virginia Bennett, of Little Rock, Ark., Betty Krone, of Senath, Mo. and Tommie Adams, of Newport and five grandchildren, Priscilla and Nina Guinn, Bruce Guinn, Jr., Dillon Guinn and Conner Guinn.
Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 4.
A family graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the Walnut Grove cemetery and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Newport First Baptist Church.

Lillie Hanners
Lillie Hanners, 89, of Kennett, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at National HealthCare in Kennett.
Born June 18, 1912, in Hornersvile, Mo., she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Louella Cook Hanners.
Survivors include three daughters, June White and Kathy Jefferson, both of Kennett and Bonnie Rogers, of Booneville, Miss.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Horner cemetery in Hornersville with the Rev. Raymond Pool officiating.
Pallbearers were Bobby and Rob Rogers, Mike Nichols, Matthew Pearson, Duane Cousar and Percy Jefferson. McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of the arrangements.
Sybil Jean Rayburn
Sybil Jean Rayburn, 75, of Hayti, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born March 21, 1926, in Braggadocio, Mo., daughter of the late James H. and Johanna Olree Light, she worked as switchboard operator at the Pemiscot County Hospital in Hayti and was a member of the Hayti Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Culp and husband, Steve, of Jonesboro; one son, Edward Rayburn, of Paragould, Ark.; three sisters, Adrian Stanley, of Jonesboro, Ann Russell, of Fayetteville, Ark. and Margie Devine, of Hayti and three grandchildren, Sam and Josh Culp and Elizabeth Rayburn.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wed, Oct. 3, at the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden, Mo., with Bro. Pat James officiating.
Pallbearers were family members.

Danny Batchelor
Danny Dewayne Batchelor, 32, of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at the Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
Born Oct. 20, 1968, in Texarkana, Texas, son of Bill L. and Dana Sue Eades Batchelor, of Malden, he was a member of the Church of Christ in Malden and worked at Super 8 Motel.
In 1990, in Travis City, Mich., he married
Tracy Larson, who survives.
Survivors also include two daughters, Stacy Ann Marie and Meghan Leigh Batchelor, both of Malden; one brother, Jason Batchelor and wife, Emily, of Barnhart, Mo. and two nieces, Skye and Jacey Batchelor.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 5, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with Albert Gardner and Rob Reaves officiating.
Burial will follow at the rosewood cemetery in Malden.
Georgia Saunders
Georgia Mae Saunders, 80, of Senath, Mo., died, Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at her residence.
Born Feb. 18, 1921, in Atlanta, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Robert John and Clara Jane Henry Gammey. On Feb. 6, 1939, in Michigan, she married
James Albert Saunders, who preceded her in death in 1989.
Survivors include one daughter, Edna Virginia Motes, of Senath; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy Mae Saunders, and three brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Derek Combs officiating.
Burial was in the Lulu cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny, Duane and Skeeter Motes, and Steve, Steven and Bradley Morgan.
Honorary pallbearer was Danny Motes.
James H. Brown
James H. Brown, 76, of Rockledge, Fla., formerly of Gideon, Mo., died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Wuesthoff Progressive Center in Viera, Fla.
Born Oct. 5, 1925, in Osceola, Ark., son of the late Fountain and Clara Kirk Brown, he graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, worked as Quality Control Engineer for McDonnell Douglas and other aerospace companies and he was of the Methodist faith.
On Dec. 27, 1952, in Piggott, Ark., he married
Sara E. Buescher, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Matt Brown and Clark Brown and wife, Debbie, all of Rockledge; two sisters, Christine Brown and Claramay Grimes and husband, Gary, all of Searcy, Ark.; one brother, Paul Brown, of Searcy and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Rosewood cemetery, 1st Addition, in Malden with the Rev. Robert Morgan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Avenue, Miami, Fla., 33136.

Mary Alma Hampton Cobb
Mary Alma Hampton Cobb, 93, of Farmington, Mo., formerly of Senath, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at the St. Francois Manor Nursing Home in Farmington.
Born March 18, 1908, in Senath, daughter of the late Albert and Bertha Beaver Meuer, she was a homemaker and a member of the fromer Westside Church of Christ.
She married
John Hampton, who preceded her in death and she later married
Robert Cobb, who also preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Danny Hampton, of Albuquerque, N.M. and John Hampton, of Senath; two daughters, Lucille Houston, of Springfield, Mo. and Mildred Seabaugh, of Senath; two sisters, Wanda Bertha Mae Beaver, of Dearborn Heights, Mich. and Ruby Lee Jones, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Willie Raymond Hampton; one daughter, Hattie Jean Grimes and two sisters, Mavis Long and Aline Short.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with Danny Hampton officiating.
Burial was in the Senath cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Ross Houston, Larry Hebold, Jr., Jacob and John Danieley, Darrell Grimes and Brett Farley.

Russell Crawford, 80, of Kennett, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Lawrence Memorial Park cemetery in Walnut Ridge, Ark. with the Rev. Gary Mayes officiating.

Vernon "Dean" Eugene Willard
Vernon "Dean" Eugene Willard, 62, of Campbell, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Campbell.
Born Jan. 1, 1939, in Campbell, son of Mary Magdelene Dover Willard, of Campbell and the late Lawrence Amble Willard, he was a U.S. Army veteran, employed at B&B Cotton and Grain and he was of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors also include one daughter, Kristin DeAnn Ray and husband, John, of Clarkton, Mo.; one son, Vernon Dean Willard, of Clarkton; six brothers, Troy and Wesley Willard, both of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Alva, Bob, Coy and Dennis Willard, all of Campbell and three sisters, Wilma Todd, of Perryville, Mo., Geraldine Todd, of Cape Girardeau and Mary Lou Brooks, of Campbell. He was preceded in death by one infant brother, James Hubert Willard.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Mt. Gilead cemetery in Clarkton. Ralph Young, 84, of Campbell, Mo., died today, Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at the VA Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
