Raymond Crawford, Jr.
Raymond Marshall Crawford, Jr., 56, of Steele, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at his residence.
Born Oct. 14, 1944, in Denton, Mo., son of the late Raymond Marshall and Obell Nichols Crawford, he was a crew worker for the Missouri State Highway Department and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
On May 17, 1997, he married
Barbara Proctor, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Raymond Howard Crawford, of Steele; two step-sons, Kendall and Joey Puckett, both of Steele; one brother, Allen Crawford, of Steele; one sister, Wanda Lee, of Gonzales, Texas and five grandchildren, Samantha Hinklin, Matthew Crawford, Chase Walker and Carlin and Kayla Puckett.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Steele with Revs. Charles Clark and John Earl Dunavant officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery at Steele.
Russell Crawford
Russell B. Crawford, 80, of Kennett, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Slatton officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Ruby Hillin
Ruby Hazel Hillin, 83, of Wardell, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at her residence.
Born Oct. 31, 1917, in Caruthersville, Mo., daughter of the late James Monroe and Francis Dockery Neely, she was a cook and a member of the Baptist Church in Wardell.
On Sept. 14, 1934, in Caruthersville, she married
Andrew Hillin, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include four sons, Calvin Hillin, of Memphis, James Hillin, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Bobby Hillin, of Atlanta, Ga. and Jerry Hillin, of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Pansy Clark, of Caruthersville; one sister, Lucille Maloney, of Greenwood, Miss.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Francis Hillin; four brothers, Ed, Charley, Dewey and Elmer Neely and one sister, Myrtle Robinson.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the First Baptist Church in Wardell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Griff Walker officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens cemetery in Caruthersville.
Pallbearers are the grandsons, Scott, John, and Michael Hillin, Dewayne and Terry Clark and Jamie Farrell.
Honorary pallbearers are WMU of the church. Bradshaw -Osburn Funeral Home of Wardell is in charge of arrangements.
Audrey Smart
Audrey Smart, 81, of Gideon, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at the Gideon Care Center.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cleo Payne officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Gilead cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.
Virginia Sparks
Virginia Townsend Sparks, 89, of Kennett, formerly of Jonesboro, Ark., died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Aug. 28, 1912, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Roy and Lena Surridge Townsend.
Survivors include one son, Towny Sparks and wife, Janice, of Kennett; one daughter, Ginger Couch, of Little Rock, Ark.; four grandchildren, Towny Sparks, II and wife, Dee Dee and Tracy Sparks Ellis and husband, Mark, all of Kennett, Dr. Robert Hix, of Siloam Springs, Ark. and John Hix, of Fayetteville, Ark and eight great-grandchildren, Darby and Hope Sparks, Ty, Brooke and Kasey Ellis, Erin Brooks and Austin and Justin Hix.
Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Lawrence Memorial Park cemetery in Walnut Ridge, Ark.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
Ralph Young
Ralph "Jimmy" Edward Young, 84, of Campbell, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at the VA Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Born Nov. 16, 1916, in Carrier Mills, Ill., son of the late Alonzo Virgil and Leona Brandon Young, he was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII, a Purple Heart recipient, a retired house painter and carpenter and a member of the Campbell Baptist Church.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Lorene Young; 28 nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Earl V. and Clyde Young; one sister, Irene Ferrell and one infant sister.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Epps officiating.
Burial will follow at the Woodlawn cemetery in Campbell.
Dorothy Christos
Dorothy Christos, 91, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 11, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Arbyrd.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the First Baptist Church in Arbyrd with the Rev. Alan Cureton officiating.
Burial will follow at the Lulu cemetery in Senath, Mo.
Russell Crawford
Russel B. Crawford, 80, of Kennett, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Born March 2, 1921, in Kennett, son of the late James Monroe and Rilla Summers Cawford, he was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the VFW and American Legion, a truck driver and a member of the Ely Baptist Church in Kennett.
On April 4, 1946, in Kennett, he married
Virginia Wallace, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two three sons, Ron Crawford, of Little Rock, Ark., Jim Crawford, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Dr. Russell W. Crawford, of Cape Coral, Fla.; one daughter, Beth Masterson, of Kennett; one sister, Louise Headrick, of Cedar Hill, Mo.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Harry Crawford.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Slatton officiating.

Floyd Helton
Floyd Helton, 78, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell, Mo.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Landess Funeral Home of Malden.
Pearl Rose
Pearl King Rose, 86, of Campbell, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell.
Born Jan. 4, 1915, in Qulin, Mo., daughter of the late Samual Warren and Martha E. Laws Huff, she was a homemaker and a member of the Campbell General Baptist Church . On Oct. 25, 1936, she married
Lee J. King, who preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1964 and on April 13, 1968, she married
E.W. Rose, who preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 1987. Survivors include two sons, Randall Lee King, of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Bobby Dean King, of Sparta, Ill.; six grandchildren, Jeff, Karen, Timothy, Michelle, Matthew and Jonathan King and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild; three brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Woodlawn cemetery in Campbell.
Audrey Smart
Audrey Smart, 81, of Gideon, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at the Gideon Care Center in Gideon.
Born May 13, 1920, in Boma Putman, Tenn., daughter of the late Roscoe and Mary Litchford Crawford, she was of the Pentecostal faith.
In March 1942, she married
Ira Lee Smart, who preceded her in death in 1968.
Survivors include five sons, Willie Smart, of Davenport, Iowa, Eddie Smart, of Clarkton, Mo., Tommy Smart, of Gideon, Ned Smart, of Arkansas and Jerry Smart, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four daughters, Wilma Sills, of Ardmore, Okla., Freda Pardon, of Gideon, Ruby White, of Malden, Mo. and Dolly Modglin, of New Haven, Mo.; two brothers, Doren Crawford, of Kennett and Earnest Crawford, of Clinton, Ark.; one sister, Lizzie Crawford, of Arkansas; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Don and Wendell Ira Smart; three brothers, Wesley, Toy and Odell Crawford and two sisters, Ida O'Dell and Effie Clowers.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Gideon with the Rev. Cleo Payne officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Gilead cemetery at Clarkton.
Martha Wilson
Martha Ann Wilson, of 61, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at her residence.
Born Nov. 17, 1939, in Caruthersville, daughter of the late Oscar A. and Dove Jeanette Fisher Wilson, she attended the Wesleyan Church in Caruthersville.
Survivors include one sister, Lavelle Jeanette Wilson, of Caruthersville; three nieces, Stacey Stephens, of Alexandria, Va., Leslie Gestring, of Caruthersville and Tammy Abbott, of Jackson, Mo.; one nephew, Mark Skelton, of California; five great-nephews and one great-niece.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Oscar Jefferson Wilson and one sister, Juanita Skelton.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Little Prairie cemetery with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
