Marie Whithead
Marie Whithead, 84, of Arbryd, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at Senath Nursing Center.
Funeral services are today, Sunday, Oct. 21, in the Arbyrd Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Cureton officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
McDaniel Funeral Service in Arbyrd is in charge of arrangements.
Jimmie Haynes
Jimmie Dale Haynes, 62, of Clarkton, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at his residence.
Born Aug. 1, 1939, in Datto, Ark., son of the late Lorell and Vivian Sullivan Haynes, he was a carpenter and a member of the New Hope General Baptist Church in Holcomb, Mo.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Kendrick, of Clarkton and Debbie Newsom, of Holcomb; one son, Terry L. Williams, of Clarkton; two step-sons, Bobby Davis, of Columbia, Mo. and Richie Davis, of Malden, Mo.; one step-daughter, Cassie Walker, of Clarkton; one brother, James Russell, of Clarkton; three sisters, Hazel Woodall, of Clarkton and Evelyn Cobb and Sue Blagg, both of Malden; four grandsons, Ried Morgan and Lee Conway, both of Clarkton, Chris Black, of Wardell, Mo. and Jeff Black, of Portageville, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Ann Branch and Faye McCoin.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Blagg officiating.
Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.
Pearl Holland
Pearl Holland, 80, of Kennett, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Kennett.
Born Feb. 6, 1921, in Rector, Ark., daughter of the late Berry Crockett and Nancy Aley Johnson Young, she was a homemaker and of the Pentecost faith.
She married
Charles Wesley Holland, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include five daughters, Dorothy Tuberville and husband, William, of Marmaduke, Ark., and Nancy McCarty and husband, Enoch, Orilla McDonald, Carolyn Smith and husband, Donald and Joanna Burr and husband, Bruce, all of Kennett; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Alvin, Finnis Franklin and Earl Berry Young and one sister, Bessie Aline Bridges.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector, with the Rev. Kenneth Carnell officiating.
Burial was in the Woodland Heights cemetery at Rector.
Pallbearers were Larry Smith, David Davis, Jason Smith, Jacob Kinnard and Rob Sharp.
Riley Mayberry
Riley "Tuter" Mayberry, 77, of Commerce, Mo., died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at his residence.
Born May 5, 1924, in Tipperary, Ark., son of the late William and Lant Collins Mayberry, he was a self-employed brick mason and a member of the Commerce Baptist Church.
On March 29, 1947, he married
Imogene Moore, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, David Mayberry of Commerce; two daughters, Gail Guffey, of Cape Girardeau and Sheilah Jones, of Senath, Mo.; one brother, Bill Mayberry, of St. Charles, Mo. and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City, Mo.
Funeral services wil be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Thompson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oakdale cemetery in Commerce.
Memorials may be made to the Commerce Baptist Church Building Fund.
Marian Pickle
Marian Pickle, 88, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.
Dortha Ross
Dortha Lee Ross, 61, of Hayti Heights, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at her residence.
Born April 4, 1940, in Boiser, Miss., daughter of the late John and Odesia Walker Williams, she was a cook at Gwin's Restaurant, a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksdale and she attended the St. John's Missionary Baptist Church in Pascola, Mo.
Survivors include one daughter, Joe Ann Flowers, of Hayti; three sons, David Flowers, Jr. and wife, Gabriele, of Frankfurt, Germany, Darcy Flowers, Sr. and wife, Linda, of Columbus, Ga. and Wash Flagg, Jr. and wife, Bobbie, of Kennett; Mamie Mullins, who was like a daughter to her; 12 grandchildren, Terry, James, Millicent, Darcy, Jr. and Derek Flowers, Cordell Brown, Kortini, Dinah, Lorenzo and Jalissa Flagg and Ruby and Cynthia Archer; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Willie Williams and wife, Joyce and two sisters, Dessie Mae Huff and Ida Kimble and husband, Charlie.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Diannia Jean Flagg.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Pascola with the Rev. Jay T. Spicer officiating.
Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Wash Flagg, Jr., John Williams, David Flowers, Jr., Robert Williams, Darcy Flowers, Sr. and James Flowers.

Marie Whitehead
Marie Whitehead, 84, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at the Senath Nursing Center in Senath, Mo.
Born Oct. 2, 1917, in West Plains, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Henry and Mattie Ann Long Williams.
On June 6, 1936, in Kennett, she married
Roland Cyle Whitehead, who preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1995.
Survivors include one son, Homer Whitehead and wife, Kaye, of Eads, Tenn.; one daughter, Linda Crocker and husband, Michael, of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Doris Bearden, of Senath and Mary Alice Dempsey, of Webster Grove, Mo. and two grandchildren, Cynthia Kaye and Douglas Todd Whitehead.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley Hartwick, Virginia Moody and Ruby Lee Reynolds.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at the First Baptist Church in Arbyrd, with the Rev. Alan Cureton officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers were Max and Derrick Higging, Andrew Cureton, Dean McDougle, Neal Smith and Rufus Brown.

Thad Biggs
Thad Biggs, 80, of Holcomb, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Born Oct. 30, 1920, in Light, Ark., son of the late John Mack and Dove Biggs, he was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII, deacon and Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church in Holcomb. He was a Math teacher for 30 years at Holcomb and was a member of the American Legion Post 293 of Malden, Mo.
On Sept. 25, 1945, he married
Betty Moore, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two daughters, Cynda Bearden, of Senath, Mo. and Brenda Lewallen and husband, Ron, of Holcomb; two brothers, James A. Biggs, of Walnut Ridge, Ark. and Lloyd Biggs, of Flint, Mich.; three grandsons, Tim and Stephen Bearden, of Jonesboro, Ark. and Ronnie Lewallen, Jr., of Holcomb; one granddaughter, Mendy Hicks, of Spring Hill, Tenn. and one great-granddaughter, Alexis Lewallen, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Randy Vaughn officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tim and Stephen Bearden, Ron Lewallen, Ronnie Lewallen, Jr., Brian Hicks and Duane Lowe.
James Mitchell
James Bently Mitchell, 44, of Hornersville, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Born July 18, 1957 in Clarksdale, Miss., son of James Bently Mitchell III and Christine Underwood Mitchell, he graduated from West Panola High School in Batesville, Miss. and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hornersville. He was employed in pipeline construction until he became disabled.
Survivors include three sons, Jason Mitchell and Ben Mitchell, both of Hornersville and John Mitchell of W. Va.; four sisters, Janice Kay Robertson of Marks, Miss., Sandra Gail Dietle of Monroe, La. and Linda Stephenson and Leslie Morin, both of Livingston, Texas; two brothers, Donnie Moore of Hornersville and Johnny Moore of Tacoma, Wash.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 26, in the National Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksdale, Miss. with the Rev. Mike Smithey officiating.
Burial will be in the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett, Mo.
Lilly Mooneyhan
Lilly May Kelley Mooneyhan, 77, of Senath, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Oct. 21, 1924, in Senath, she was the daughter of the late Husler and Ruth Eunice Pulley Winberry.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Smith of Senath; one brother, Martin Winberry of Rockford, Ill.; one sister, Bertha White of Aubany, Texas and two grandchildren, Travis Ray Smith and Sheldon Wayne Knight.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Lonzo Winberry.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Senath cemetery with the Rev. Brant Pierce.
McDaniel Funeral Service of Senath was in charge of arrangements.
Marian Pickle
Marian Pickle, 88, of Kennett, Mo. died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Sept. 27, 1913, in Osceola, Ark., daughter of the late Winfred and Billie Driver McCaul, she worked at McCaul Chevrolet, McCaul Tire & Appliance and retired from Emerson Electric Co. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Kennett.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Pickle and his wife, Shirley, of Little Rock, Ark. and Philip Pickle, Jr. and his wife, Janis, of Jonesboro, Ark.; three grandsons, Greg Pickle and his wife, Dena, of Houston, Texas; Tom Pickle, Jr. and his wife, Christy, of North Little Rock, Ark. and Sid Pickle and his wife, Suzette, of Jonesboro and two great-grandchildren, Grace and Grant Pickle.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 26, at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with the Revs. Henry Grodecki and Mark Binder officiating.
Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett, under direction of McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett.
Pallbearers were Sid, Tommy, Greg, Phil and Tom Pickle and Bob Redman.
Honorary pallbearers were Sidney Pickard, Rita Redman and Dot Keane.
