Ellen Leslie
Ellen Elizabeth Leslie, 82, of Hayti, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at the Pemiscot Memorial Nursing Home in Hayti.
Born March 4, 1919, in Casa Ark., daughter of the late William Oscar and Addie Mae Outlaw Madison, she was a seamstress.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Leslie, of Byhalia, Miss.; one brother, Jack Madison, of Russellville, Ark.; one sister, Wanda Apple, of Dardanelle, Ark.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, George, J.B. and Buck Madison.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home in Hayti.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Mathis officiating.
Burial will follow at the Woodlawn cemetery in Hayti.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Manley, Gerald Davis, Jim Madison, Steve Leslie, John Fisher and Joey Clowers.
David Lemonds
David Ray Lemonds, 52, of Kennett, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born July 14, 1949, in Kennett, son of Genevia Huffstutler Luther, of Kennett and the late Cecil Lynn Lemonds, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.
On March 15, 1969, in Kennett, he married
Rebecca Faye Averett, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two daughters, Jill Lemonds, of Memphis, Tenn. and Sarah Lemonds, of Kennett; two brothers, Dale Lemonds, of Elko, Nev. and Jack Lemonds, of Kennett and one sister, Barbara Williams, of Kennett.
He was preceded in death by one son, John David Lemonds.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman and Spencer Furby officiating.
Burial was in the Sumach cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tom Harmon, Tommy Price, Rick Gore, Carl Williams, Carlos Woodard and Kerry Noble.
Mary McAdams
Mary Jane McAdams, 81, formerly of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at the Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock, Ark.
Born July 4, 1920, in Portageville, Mo., daughter of the late Henry and Mary Belle Euell, Sr., she was a member of the Hayti United Methodist Church and with her husband, owned and operated the IGA Grocery Store in Hayti.
On Nov. 2, 1937, in Piggott, Ark., she married
O.E. "Cobb" McAdams, who preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Terri Anne McAdams.
Survivors include one son, Larry Clinton McAdams and wife, Carol Ann, of Little Rock, Ark.; two granddaughters, Karen Jo Thurman and Pamela Kay McKinnis; three great-grandchildren, Terri Ann Howard and Damon and Elena McKinnis; one brother, H.R. Euell, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, of Hayti; one sister, Wanda Cole and husband, Wesley, of Pascola, Mo.; one niece, Mary Ann Sanders, of Hayti and two nephews, Steve and Lee Cole, of Pascola.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at the Hayti First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Fulbright officiating.
Burial will follow at the Woodlawn cemetery in Hayti.
Doris Bearden
Doris Bearden, 82, of Senath, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at the Senath Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 11, 1919, in West Plains, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Henry and Mattie Ann Long Williams.
On Dec. 24, 1938, in Kennett, Mo., she married
Ivy Bearden, who preceded her in death on July 19, 1999. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Don and Luther Bearden and four sisters, Marie Whitehead, Ruby Reynolds, Virginia Moody and Shirley Hartwick.
Survivors include two grandsons, Tim and Steve Bearden, both of Jonesboro, Ark.; one daughter-in-law, Cynda Bearden, of Senath and one sister, Mary Alice Dempsey, of Webster Grove, Mo.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Senath cemetery with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
Pallbearers were Tim and Steve Bearden, Homer and Gene Whitehead and Steve and Jimmy Don Odle.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of arrangements.
Esta Crites
Esta Lee Crites, 85, of Kennett, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at her residence.
Born Jan. 16, 1917, in Caruth, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Boss and Lucinda Whitley Felker.
She married
George Edward Crites, who preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1968. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Dick Felker and five sisters, Marjorie Caudle, Nola Grindstaff, Oleen Grimes, Pearl Braden and Eunice Crites.
Survivors include one son, Edd Cites and wife, Joan, of Farmington, Mo.; one brother, E.H. "Tut" Felker, of Caruth and one grandchild, Cindi Weiss and husband, Zach, of Kenosha, Wis.
Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Gary Mayes officiating.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
Coena Dambach
Coena Dambach, 80, of Malden, Mo., died today, Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden.
Mearl Dean
Mearl Dean, 89, of Cardwell, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at his residence.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Thusday, Feb. 7, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Arbyrd, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at the Arbyrd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
Burial will follow at the Cardwell cemetery.
Michael Haynes
Michael Haynes, 43, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Weatherford, Texas.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Avants officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Cleo Cunningham
Cleo Coy Cunningham, 80, of Bourg, La., formerly of Kennett, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Terreboune General Medical Center in Houma, La.
Born Aug. 18, 1921, in Cardwell, Mo., son of the late Louie and Blanche Bishop Cunningham, he was retired from Kennett Public Schools and was a member of the Kennett congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
He married
Ruby Dell White who preceded him in death Sept. 9, 1994.
Survivors include three sons, Dan Cunningham of Lenexa, Kans., Joe Cunningham of Augusta, Ga. and Steve Cunningham of Bourg, La.; five sisters, May Cupp, Mary Cude, Billie Rowland, Brenda Holt and Eula Mae Ward, all of Arkansas; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Kennett.
Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett, under direction of McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett.
Memorials may be made to the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses or the American Cancer Society.
Don Hanners
Don W. Hanners, 82, of Kennett, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born June 3, 1919, in Hornersville, Mo., son of the late Frank and Minnie Horner Hanners, he served with the U.S. Army in World War II and a member of First Baptist Church of Kennett.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Floyd, Solon, Virgil and Johnny Hanners, a step brother, Marshall Oats and two sisters, Mildred Seeley and Myrtle Hamilton.
He married
Marie Redman, who preceded him in death. On July 31, 1999, he married
Mary McJunkins, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Rita Dean and her husband, Richard, of Germantown, Tenn. and Amelia Saunders and her husband, Jack, of Soddy Daisey, Tenn.; a brother, Von Hanners of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in Box Elder cemetery at Hornersville with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.
Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews: David and Michael Dean, Tim Saunder, Stephen Dorris and Doyle and Terry Hanners.
Arrangements were by McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett.
Michael Haynes
Michael Haynes, 43, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Weatherford, Texas.
Born Jan. 5, 1959, in Wichita, Kan., son of Betty Jo Wilmoth of Kennett and the late Raymond Lloyd Haynes he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
On Feb. 28, 1985, he married
Lisa Patton who survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Mark Haynes of Kennett and Christopher Haynes of Manila, Ark.; three daughters, Melinda Haynes, Christina Haynes and Latasha Patton, all of Kennett; a sister, Lisa Marie Singleton of Kennett and one grandmother, Ollie McDaniel of Arbyrd, Mo.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Charles Avants officiating.
Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers were Brandon and Steve Hightower, Bobby and Randy Barton and Michael and Gary Patton.
