Velma Kirkwood
Velma L. Kirkwood, 89, of Campbell, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, in St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born Jan. 14, 1913, in Essex, Mo., daughter of the late James Albert and Emma Crites Borders, she was a homemaker and clerk in the family owned Kirkwood's Grocery in Campbell. She was a member of the General Baptist Church in Campbell, where she taught Sunday and Bible School and a member of the Ladies Missionary Society.
In 1928, she married
Edgar Crawford who preceded her in death March 14, 1936. On Nov. 20, 1940, in Campbell, she married
Louie Kirkwood who preceded her in death Dec. 28, 1987.
She was also preceded in death by three step sons, J. Ray, Donald C. and Bill W. Kirkwood.
Survivors include five daughters, Shirley Curry of Mehlville, Mo., Una Carpenter of Springdale, Ark., Barbara Morgan of Jefferson City, Mo., Mary Lou Cox of Denver, N.C. and Betty Coffel of Snellville, Ga.; a step-son, Joe Kirkwood of Campbell; a sister, Vernis Peck of Nashville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Feb. 10, in the Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell with the Rev. Kevin Morris officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery at Campbell.
Marilyn Clavier
Marilyn Jean Clavier, 70, of Kennett, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born July 31. 1931, in Middletown, Ohio, daughter of Alberta Floyd and the late Orville Floyd, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, Jim Clavier, of Holcomb, Mo., Robert and Mike Clavier, both of St. Louis, Mo. and Larry Anderson; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Crawford and one son, Ricky Horne.
Bradshaw Funeral Home of Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
Coena Dambach
Coena Dorothy Dambach, 80, of Malden, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born July 16, 1921, in Kelso, Mo., daughter of the late Charles and Louise Schoen Georger, she was a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church in Malden and a former member of St. Ann Altar Society.
On Nov. 19, 1953, in Kelso, she married
Benjamin Dambach, who preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1984. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Matt and Joe Georger and two sisters, Sister Agusta Georger and Regina Georger.
Survivors include two sons, Dan Dambach, of Malden and Karl Dambach, of Dexter, Mo.; two daughters, Linda Schneider, of Malden and Marla Knutson, of Dexter; one brother, Lucas Georger, of Advance, Mo.; three sisters, Sister Elaine Georger, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Alvena Lett, of Scott City, Mo. and Marina Georger, of Chaffee, Mo. and two granddaughters, Amy Fields, of Sikeston, Mo. and Brandi Dambach, of Dexter.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today, Friday, Feb. 8, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home. A Rosary service will follow at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Malden with Father Glenn Eftink officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.
Mearl Dean
Mearl Dean, 89, of Cardwell, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at his residence. Born Oct. 26, 1912, in Cardwell, he was the son of the late Luther and Rose Cross Dean.
He married
Blanche Langston, who preceded him in death and later married
Della Mae Hodge on Dec. 5, 1982, in Hornersville, Mo., who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three daughters, Charlene Nichols, Emma Hannsz and Bonnie Wofford, al of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, Earl Hodge, of Paragould, Ark. and Jerry Hodge, of Arbyrd, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ira Dean; one sister, Imogene Noel and one grandson, Michael Hannsz.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Feb. 8, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Arbyrd with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
Burial was in the Cardwell cemetery.
A.J. Franks
A.J. "Bones" Franks, 71, of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Dyersburg, Tenn.
Born Sept. 15, 1930, in Savannah, Tenn., he was the son of the late Hubert and Etta Burks Franks.
Survivors include two brothers, Herman and Sammy Joe Franks, both of Hayti and two sisters, Jean Stegall, of Kennett and Emma Lee Buckley, of Tulelake, Calif.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Junior Franks.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Woodlawn cemetery in Hayti with John Mark Wilson officiating.

Don W. Hanners, 82, of Kennett, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Feb. 8, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Box Elder cemetery in Hornersville, Mo. with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.
Blanche Hefner
Blanche Hefner, 85, of Qulin, Mo., died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare -South Campus in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born Dec. 26, 1916, in Neelyville, Mo., daughter of the late Guy and Dora Tate Davidson, she was a homemaker and a charter member of the Osburn General Baptist Church.
On Nov. 22, 1935, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., she married
Carl Lavern Hefner, who preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 1994.
Survivors include one daughter, Velma VanDover and husband, Gary, of Poplar Bluff; one son, Dennis Hefner and wife, Sharon, of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Renee Stone, of Glen Carbon, Ill., Jamie Hefner and Eric VanDover, both of Poplar Bluff and Melissa Trim, of Mountain Home, AFB, Idaho; two great-gandchildren, Joey Stone and Dalton Hefner; four sisters, Bernice Grandstaff and Jewell Lloyd, both of St. Louis, Mo., Verle Pinkerton, of Tuscon, Ariz. and Norma Cox, of Poplar Bluff and one brother, Kenneth Davidson, of Arnold, Mo.

Edna Knight
Edna Jewell Medlock Knight, 86, of Paragould, Ark., died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born Jan. 2, 1916, in Greene County, Ark., daughter of the late Alfonzo and Lettie Tennyson Melton, she was a member of the Center Hill Church of Christ and worked at Berkley Public Schools.
She married
Ransom L. Medlock, who preceded her in death and later married
Henry Knight, who also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Jim Medlock and wife, Diane, of Kennett; one step-son, Herbert Knight, of St. Louis, Mo.; two step-daughters, Evelyn West, of San Diego, Calif. and Ruthie Robinson, of Chapel Hill, N.C. and three grandchildren, Julie D. Medlock, of Paragould, Marshall H. Medlock, of Little Rock, Ark. and Jamie L. Medlock, of Jonesboro.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 8, at the Heath Funeral Home in Paragould.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Michael Cox officiating.
Burial will follow at the Linwood cemetery in Paragould.

Wesley Bynum
Wesley Gordon Bynum, 86, of Rector, Ark., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Ark.
Born Oct. 30, 1915, in Lee County, Ark., he was a farmer, a member of the Rector General Baptist Church and the Farm Bureau, past president of the Rector Lion's Club, former alderman and he served as little league commissioner for four years.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Bynum, of Rector; three daughters, Peggy Ingram and husband, Bob, Melba Ingram and husband, Wayne and Dianna Brewer and husband, Eddie, all of Rector; one step-son, Alan Abbott, of Kennett; one sister, Dorothy Strickland, of Kennett; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Bynum; two sons, Larry and Richard Bynum; one step-son, Dale Abbott; four brothers, Rob, Robert and Garvin Abbott and an infant brother.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Rector General Baptist Church with the Revs. James Henry Dortch and Kenny Burns officiating.
Burial was in the Woodland Heights cemetery in Rector.
Pallbearers were the grandsons, Ryan, Russ and Luke Brewer and Chris, Doug and Tim Ingram.
Honorary pallbearers were Wesley Mills, Chad Abbott, Donald Rogers, Bill Smithee, Wayne Birmingham, Clifton Carter, Vickie, Ashley and Erica Mills, Lindsey and Jessica Ingram and Becky and Sidney Brewer.

Rev. Cecil Keller
Rev. Cecil G. Keller, 75, of Malden, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at the VA Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Born Aug. 18, 1926, in Bernie, Mo., son of the late Sam and Myrtie Embry Keller, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during WWII, a General Baptist Minister since 1963 and was currently serving as pastor of the Parma General Baptist Church.
On July 28, 1946, in Piggott, Ark., he married
Elsie Ray, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one daughter, Cheryl Miller and husband, Terry, of Neelyville, Mo.; two sons, Graden Keller, of Houston, Texs and Scott Keller and wife, Tammy, of Malden; two sisters, Agnes Brown, of Malden and Geraldine Finch, of Beloit, Wis.; six grandchildren, Christopher and Todd Day and Clayton, Kristen, Karis and Brian Keller and three great-grandchildren, Morgan Lynne and Logan Day and Richie Sturm.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Delia Dale and four brothers, Orvel, Everett, LaRue and Dawsey Keller.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the First General Baptist Church in Malden with the Revs. Scott Keller and Joe Williams officiating.
Burial will follow at the Bernie cemetery.
