Antha Markum

Antha Markum, 87, of Holcomb, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare South Campus, in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Landess Funeral Home of Campbell, Mo.

Bobby Smith

Bobby Doyle Smith, 48, of Gideon, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Clarkton, Mo.

Born Feb. 6, 1954, in Gideon, son of Jessie Doyle Smith, of Gideon and the late Helen Louise White Smith, he was a member of the Tatum Chapel General Baptist Church in Holcomb, Mo.

On May 13, 2001, in Peach Orchard, Mo., he married Lamanda Bailey, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include three daughters, Mary Gattis, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Lee Ann Williams, of Cardwell, Mo. and Bobbie Smith, of Clarkton; one step-daughter, Melissa Bailey, of Clarkton and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Ann Smith.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Earnest Puckett officiating.

Burial was in the Stanfield cemetery at Clarkton.

Maggie Taylor

Maggie Selena Taylor, 100, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at the Senath Nursing Center in Senath, Mo.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Arbyrd.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Arbyrd First Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Cureton officiating.

Burial will follow at the Lulu cemetery.

The family requests that memorials may be made to the Arbyrd First Baptist Church.

Albert White

Albert Charles White, 51, of St. Jospeh, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at St. Jospeh.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Bradshaw Funeral Home of Kennett.

Bonnie Williams

Bonnie Lee "B.L. Pop" Williams, 70, of Paragould, Ark., died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at his residence.

Born May 12, 1931, in Morrilton, Ark., son of the late James Bonnie and Tressie Crouch Williams, he was of the Baptist faith and was retired from the United States Sugar Corporation in Clewiston, Fla., where he served as a security guard.

On June 2, 1964, in Okeechobee, Fla., he married Jerris Charlene Garrard, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Freddie Darlene and Lloyd Haff, of Paragould and a special friend, Veronica Jaramillo, of Austin, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Fred and Jewel Garrard.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Heath Funeral Home in Paragould.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Royce Schanda and Joanne Schanda officiating.

Burial will follow at the Cardwell cemetery in Cardwell, Mo.

Javauta Autry

Javauta Jo Autry, 65, of St. Charles, Mo., formerly of Senath, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at her residence.

Born Oct. 20, 1936, in Senath, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Clyde Leslie and Jewel Cook Pitts.

On Dec. 31, 1954, in Senath, she married Kermett Autry, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one daughter, Sharon Arnold and husband, James, of St. Charles; two grandchildren, Eric and Jacob Arnold; one sister, Lavonia Hawkins, of St. Charles.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Kay Autry.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 3, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath with the Rev. Virgil Weaks officiating.

Burial was in the Senath cemetery.

Pallbearers were Roddy Holmes, Mark Miller, Randal Gibson, Dana Autry, Joe Lane and Donald Ray Holmes.

Alma Baker

Alma Jane Baker, 67, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Belleville Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

Born Dec. 3, 1934, in Luxora, Ark., daughter of the late Harry and Mary Griggs Miller, she was a waitress.

Survivors include one son, Trey Baker, of Caruthersville; two brothers, Gene Miller, of Bernie, Mo. and Charles "Chuck" Miller, of Caruthersville and one sister, Erma Askew, of Caseyville, Ill.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Adams officiating.

Burial was in the Maple cemetery.

Pallbearers were Trey Baker, Randy Miller, Patrick Pery, Corey Miller and Hansel and Mike Morgan.

Shirley Cheney

Shirley J. Cheney, 58, of Proctor, Ark., died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis, Ark.

She was a machine operator and a member of the Eagles Club and American Legion Auxilliary.

She was married to Monroe Cheney, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, Keith Cheney, of West Memphis, Jason Cheney, of Proctor and Darrell Cheney, of Richmond, Va.; two brothers, Gary and Rick Turner, both of Kennett; two sisters, Linda Elias and Geraldine Hufford, both of Senath, Mo.; a special friend, Keith Walters, of Proctor and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at the Crittenden Memorial Park cemetery in Marion, Ark.

Mildred Hogue

Mildred Alma Hogue, 78, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at the Baptist East Hosptial in Memphis, Tenn.

Born Jan. 18, 1924, in Kinfolks Ridge, Mo., daughter of the late George Washington and Lillie Parnell Grigory, she was employed at Brown Shoe Company before her retirement, was a member of the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church and a volunteer for the RSVP Program.

On May 6, 1947, in Caruthersville, she married Cleveland Francis Hogue, who preceded her in death on May 11, 2001. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Survivors include two daughters, Yolanda Watt, of Mayfield, Ky. and Frances Kay Dowdle, of Jackson, Miss.; one son, Donald Johnson, of Caruthersville; two brothers, John Orville Grigory, of Mammoth springs, Ark. and Billy Harbin Grigory, of Memphis, Tenn. and five grandchildren, Angela Jackson and Sara Watt, both of Mayfield and Robert, Kimberley and Richard Dowdle, all of Jackson.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home in Caruthrsville with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.

Burial was in the Maple cemetery.

Pallbearers were Billy C. Hobbs II, James M. Watt, John Jackson, Donald H. Johnson, Randy Dowdle and Terry Allen.

Anthony Jarvies, Jr.

Anthony Jarvies, Jr., 62, of Hayti, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti.

Born July 1, 1939, in Joiner, Ark., son of Luella Ross, of Caruthersville and the late Anthony Jarvies, Sr., he was a member of the Full Gospel Evangelist Church.

Survivors include his companion, Willeen Covington, of Hayti; children, Annetta and Kenneth Wesley, Ella and Joyce Jarvies, of Gilbert Ariz., Anthony Jarvies, III, of Caruthersville, Terry and Beverly Covington, of Hayti, Ova Jean and James Stone, of Portageville, Mo., Lorene, Latasha, Nicole, Jason and Tenika Covington, all of Hayti; step-children, Willie Sykes and James and Candice Washington, all of Caruthersville, Brenda and Jimmy Rayford and Sell Covington, all of Hayti; three sisters, Louise Grant and husband, Andrew and Ova Jean Holloway and husband Charles Edward, all of Chicago, Ill. and Josie Jarvies, of Caruthersville; 20 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; five step-brothers and five step-sisters.

He was preceded in death by one step-son, Michael Covington, one daughter, Shekelia Covington and one grandson, Jamie Stone.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ with the Rev. George Wilson officiating.

Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery at Hayti.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Rayford, Terry Covington, Jerome Stone, Marcus Brown, Cedrick Barber and Parnell Williams.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home in Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.

Antha Markum

Antha D. Markum, 87, of Holcomb, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare South Campus in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born Oct. 24, 1914, in Holcomb, daughter of the late Frank and Bell Atnip Cross, she was a housewife, a retired secretary and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Holcomb.

On Jan. 1, 2000, in Clarkton, Mo., she married Hubert Markum, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one son, Dennis Jackson and wife, Yvonne, of Holcomb; two brothers, Orville and Pete Cross, both of Holcomb and one sister, Martha Hayden, of Cahokia, Ill; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters Dorris Rackers and Mary Elaine Risk and one brother, William Cross.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sam Newman officiating.

Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton.
