Florine Swain
Florine Swain, 76, of Senath, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at her residence.
Born June 17, 1925, in Senath, daughter of the late Freddie and Beulah Reeves Doherty, she was a member of the Senath Church of Christ.
On Nov. 2, 1941, in Senath, she married
Lee Swain, Jr. who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Carl Doherty and three grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry Doherty and wife, Floy, of St. Louis, Mo., Darrell Swain, of Senath and Terry Swain, and wife, Betty Ann, of Shreveport, La.; four daughters, Peggy George and husband, Richard, of Poughkeepsie, Ark., Jerris Meredith and husband, Lee, of Senath, Mary Smotherman and husband, Faron, of Paragould, Ark. and Diana Joyner and husband, Steve, of Grayson, La.; one brother, Jerry Doherty, of St. Louis; one sister, Jessie Muriel Crum, of Arbyrd, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great- grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Church of Christ in Senath with Greg Pollock officiating.
Burial was in the Senath cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kyle and Larry Gramling, Steven Murry, Brandon Swain, Freddie and David Doherty, Chip Meredith and Ken Oliver.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of arrangements.
O.D. Buddy Denson
O.D. Buddy Denson, 83, of Dexter, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
Born July 27, 1918, at Lawrenceburg, Tenn., son of Nebraska Dunaway Denson of Kennett and the late Robert Andrew Denson, he was a member of the Church of Christ in Dexter. He was the former owner of a lumbr company in Parma, Mo.
On Dec. 31, 1936, in Kennett, he married
Anna Knotts, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Jimmy Dale Denson of Wappapello, Mo.; a daughter, Dawna Carter of Dexter; four sisters, Hazel Baker and Willa Mae Haraway, both of Kennett, Bobbie Cunningham of Parma and Joe Ann Fitterling of Bridgeton, Mo.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Hollis Denson and a sister, Hildridge Johnson.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, March 3, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home Chapel in Dexter with Dale Grissom officiating.
Burial will follow in the Malden Memorial Park cemetery.
John Jackson
John "Bud" Jackson, 70, of Malden, Mo., died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Missouri Southern Healthcarre in Dexter, Mo.
Born Sept. 30, 1931, at Gideon, Mo., son of the late John Colby and Leona Merle Shaw Jackson, he was a member of Stanfield Missionary Baptist Church at Clarkton, Mo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a restaurant owner.
On Feb. 15, 1952, in Piggott, Ark., he married
Jo Allen Jackson who preceded him in death on Oct. 9, 1974.
Suvivors include a daughter, Joy Wiseman and her husband, David L., of Malden; a son, John Allen Jackson of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Sadie Grimes of St. Louis; two grandchildren, David B. Wiseman of Malden and Carrie Caruso of Godfrey, Ill.; two great-grandchildren, David O Wiseman of Malden and Gavin Caruso of Godfrey.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Funeral services are at 3 p.m. today, Sunday, March 3, in the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.
Burial will be in Stanfield cemetery at Clarkton.
Frances Labiche
Frances H. Labiche, 61, of LaGrange, Ga., died Wednesday, Feb. 27, at West Georgia Medicat Ct., in LaGrange.
Born April 20, 1940, in Glennonville, Mo., daughter of the late Joseph Gustave and Margaret Eberdhard Hustedde, she was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in LaGrange where she served as communion minister. She was a volunteer-hospice, American Red Cross, Red Cross Community Blood Driver and for St. Peter's Church where she chaired the annual blood drive.
On April 20, 1940, in Glennonville, she married
Dr. Henry Labiche, Jr., who survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Henry Labiche III of Fort Campbell, Ky. and Michael Joseph Labiche of Cummings, Ga.; two sisters, Marie Niebur of Belleville, Texas and Margaret Valdez of Allegan, Mich.; a special cousin, Rose Bader of Glennonville and six grandchildren: Heidi, Caleb, Camille, Abigail and Caroline Labiche and Jessica Birkbeck.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today, Sunday, March 3, at Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden where rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 4, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Glennonville, with Father Glenn Eftink officiating.
Burial will be in St. Teresa cemetery at Glennonville.
John Owens, Jr.
John S. Owens, Jr., 87, of Kennett, Mo., and formerly of the Sumach community, died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born March 12, 1914, in Kennett, he was the son of the late John S. Owens Sr. and Annie Barham Owens.
On July 3, 1938, he married
Lorene Shipman who survives of the home.
Other survivors inlclude a son, Bill Owens, of St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Mary Ann Williams of Baxter Springs, Kan.; two half-brothers, Flake L. McHaney of Kennett and Robert H. McHaney of Corpus Christi, Texas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, March 3, at Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. J.C. Joyner officiating.

Dora Ozbun
Dora Ozbun, 88, of Senath, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at Heritage Residential Center in Kennett.
Born Jan. 2, 1914, in Bell City, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Etheridge and Addie Tanner and Bertha Woods.
In 1928, at Bono, Ark., she married
Ollie C. Ozbun who preceded her in death Jan. 14, 1983. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dan Ozbun, a daughter, Babara Moore, four brothrs, John, Cleo, Lloyd and Zannie Woods, a sister, Dovie Woods and two grandchildren, Sandra Ozbun and Michael Moore.
Survivors include five sons: Richard, Don, Cleo and Gene Ozbun all of Senath and Junior Ozbun of Doniphan.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2002, at the First Assembly of God Church in Senath with the Revs. Virgil Weeks and Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial was in the Lulu cemetery, with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

E.L. Rawlings
E.L. Rawlings, 84, of Benton, Ky., died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
Arrangements are incomplete with Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden.
Pink Acuff Jr.
Pink Burgess Acuff Jr., 74, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at the V.A. Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.
Born July 13, 1927, in Caruthersville, son of the late Pink Burgess and Delphia May Millis Acuff, Sr., he was a deacon and a member of the First Baptist Church, a member of Gideon International, DAV and the American Legion. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War, and a owner/operator of a service station and a City Collector in Caruthersville.
On Dec. 26, 1955, in Caruthersville, he married
Miss. Edyth Mae Wafler, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one daughter, Laura Jane Acuff, of Memphis; one son, Burgess Andrew Acuff, of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, William J. Acuff, M.D., of Knoxville, Tenn. and two sisters, Evelyn Lawes, of Atlanta and Mary C. Cullum, of Caruthersville.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Edith Genevieve Acuff.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at the First Baptist Church with Dr. James Adams officiating.
Burial was in the Maple cemetery. Pallbearers were Lex Bell, Bill Acuff, Jr., Alex Acuff, Brian Ketchum, George and Alvin Mewhirter.
Honorary Pallbearers were Calvin House, Marion Wafler and James Cullum.

Lorene Blocker
Lorene Blocker, 90, of Scottsville, Ky., formerly of Rives, Mo., died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky.
Born April 30, 1911, in Holcomb, Mo., daughter the late Charles and Sadie Case Clark, she was a memeber of the First Baptist Church of Sullivan, Mo.
On Sept. 6, 1930, she married
James Marion Blocker, who preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1972. She was also preceded in death by one son, Paul James Blocker; one brother, Elmer Clark; two sisters, Verba Webb and Geneva Clark and one grandson, James Marion Blocker.
Survivors include four sons, Donald Blocker, of Pevely, Mo., Roy Marion Blocker, of Kennett, Charles Clark Blocker, of Windfall, Ind. and Gerald Blocker, of Union, Mo.; five daughters, Evelyn Headden, of Atlanta, Earliane Messick, of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Lois Apel, of Middleton, N.Y., Carolyn Sue West, of Scottsville and Linda Faye Griffith, of Sullivan, Mo.; 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 5, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett with the Rev. Bill Fox officiating.
Burial was in the Gravel Hill cemetery at Aquilla, Mo.
Pallbearers were Gregory, Mark, Doug, John and Tim Blocker and Charles Messick.
Douglas Boland
Douglas Alton Boland, 58, of LeMay, Mo., died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at the St. Anthony Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Born April 19, 1943, in Pargould, Ark., son of the late Joseph and Lavera Denna Huffmaster Boland, he was of the Baptist faith.
On March 7, 1964, in St. Louis, he married
Linda Hargraves, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Douglas Wade Boland, of Bella Villa, Mo.; one daughter, Melissa Miller, of LeMay; one brother, Johnny Boland, of Advance, Mo.; two sisters, JoAnn Batten and Virginia "Ginger" Lewis of Clarkton, Mo., and two granddaughters, Nicole and Miranda Miller, both of LeMay.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Buddy Boland.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
