Opal Davis
Opal Jeanette Davis, 88, of Howell, Mich., died March 3, 2002, at Crossville, Tenn.
Born Aug. 15, 1913, in Pemiscot Co. Mo., daughter of the late Henry and Margaret Smith Gale, she was a retired beautician and of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Hale, of Fairfield, Tenn.; four grandchildren; one brother, John Gale, of Caruthersville, Mo. and three sisters, Alice Crockett, of Lincoln Park, Mo., Betty Edmundson and Francis Clutts, both of Kennett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Davis; one son, Dale Eugene Davis; one brother, Duward Gale and two sisters, Jaunice New and Jesse Harder.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti, Mo., with Dr. James Adams officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
Carroll Dunlap
Carroll Bryant Dunlap, 56, of Modesto, Calif., formerly of Wardell, Mo., died Friday, March 8, 2002, in Modesto.
Born May 31, 1945, in Roland, Ark., he was the son of the late Floyd and Alma Dunlap.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; two daughters, Melissa Garry Guzman and Donna Dunlap, both of Modesto; one son, John Dunlap, of Lae Vegas, Nev.; one granddaughter, Grace; two brothers, Leonard, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Prim, of Portageville, Mo. and two sisters, Helen Guillen and Nancy Brown, both of Kennett.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 14, in the Evergreen cemetery in Merced, Calif. Kelly James Kelly E. James, 34, of Holcomb, Mo., died Monday, March 11, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.
Madge Johnson
Madge Fritz Johnson, 84, of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Senath, Mo., died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 14, at the Senath Baptist Church in Senath with the Revs. Greg Fritz and Derek Combs officiating.
Burial will be in Senath cemetery.
David Kellums
David Irland Kellums, 68, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Friday, March 8, 2002, at the Conway Regional Medical Center in Conway, Ark.
Born Nov. 15, 1933, in Hornersville, Mo., son of the late John and Lucy Irene Davidson Kellums, he was a U.S. Army veteran.
On Oct. 4, 1958, in Hornersville, Mo., he married
Wilma Elois Webb who survives of the home.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Kellums, of Arbyrd; three sons, David Kellums, of Paragould, Ark., Terry Kellums, of Hornersville, Mo., and Chris Kellums, of Arbyrd, and five grandchildren, Drew, Dustin, Kasey, Madison and Tyler Kellums.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Imogene Brown.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 10, at the Church of Christ in Arbyrd with the Rev. J.T. Ashby officiating.
Burial was in the Cardwell cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenny Guthrie, Dennis Thomas, B.J. Young, Bill Traywick, Monroe Martin, Larry Petty and Marty Moore.
Honorary pallbearers were Harold Woodard, Max Ray Moore, Neal Smith, T.A. Brown, Herman Johnson, Robert Hanners and Bill Schatzley.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of arrangements.

Loretta Launius McCormick, 61, of Fenton, Mo., died Monday, March 11, 2002, at the deGreef Hospice House associated with St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at the Senath cemetery with Bill Ruby officiating.

Maurice Olds, 88, of Kennett, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett.
Burial will be in the Senath cemetery at Senath, Mo.
Mildred Thomasson
Mildred Myrtle Thomasson, 82, of Fullerton, Calif., formerly of caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at the Fullerton Gardens Nursing Home in Fullerton.
Born Oct. 2, 1919, in Chaffee, Mo., daughter of the late Melvin L. and Jessie Myrtle Harris Smith, she was the owner/operator of Thomassons Shoe Repair, a member of the First Presbyterian Church and of the Caruthersville Chamber of Commerce.
On Sept. 29, 1940, in Caruthersville, Mo., she married
Charles Newton Thomasson who preceded her in death on April 27, 1997.
Survivors include one son, Charles N. Thomasson Jr. and wife, Patricia Ann, of Yorba Linda, Calif.; three granddaughters, Wendy Erin Kearns, of Anaheim, Calif., Amy Lynn Thommason, of Yorba Lindaand Christy Lee Thomasson, of Brea, Calif.; one great grandson, Blake Thomasson Kearns, of Anaheim, Calif.; three brothers, Harold Smith, Perkin, Ill., Daniel Smith, of Minneapolis, Minn. and Walter Smith, of Scottsdale, Ariz. and two sisters, Helen Raper, of Springfield, Mo.and Mary Parmenter, of Paola, Kan.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Smith and Elmer Smith and one sister, Hilda Potts.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 11, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. George Spransy officiating. Burial was in the Little Prairie cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert L. Culler, David Hardin, Frank Hollomon, John R. Hutchison III, Anthony Hartsfield, and Tommy Coker.

Nell Vardell, 82, of Kennett, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 12, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett . Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Slatton officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.
Willie Whitley, Sr.
Willie B. Whitley Sr., 60, of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at his residence.
Born Sept. 7, 1941, in Hughes, Ark., son he the late Mr. and Mrs. Lesse T. Whitley, he was a member of the Church of God in Christ in Hayti.
Survivors include his wife, Arlean Whitley, of Hayti; his children, Cicely, Willie B. Jr., Sylvester Whitley and Dominek Rhines all of Hayti, Kizzy Spain, Ricky and Bobby Joe Whitley, all of Columbia, Mo., Greg and Willie Jordan, both of Topeka, Kan., Jeffery Whitley, of Mexico, Mo., Erma Jean Whitley, of Jonesboro, Ark., Shirley Tankershly and Ralph Harris, both of Chicago, Ill. and Lloyd Harris, of Harrisburg, Pa.; his brothers and sisters, Roseata Beavers and Henry Lobley, both of Rock Island, Ill., Pearly Mae Lobley and Lidian Johnson, both of Elkart, Ind., Fred Lobley Jr., of Benton Harbor, Mich., Lorrain Lobely, of Chicago. Ill. and Roberta Lobley, of Rock Island and 20 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at the Church of God in Christ in Hayti with Elder Nathaniel Ellis officiating.
Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were James Hale, Robert Lane, Ernest Campbell, John Lee Robinson, Joe Bob Jones and Kenneth and Runie Williams.
Honorary pallbearers were Willie B.. Whitley Jr., James Ham (Hill) Hale, James Spencer and Greg & Kenneth Williams.

Willie Williams
Willie Lee Williams, 82, of Kennett, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Three Rivers Health Care North in Poplar Bluff, Mo . Born Jan. 1, 1920, in Okolona, Miss., son of the late George Toddy and Luella Rose Williams, he worked atr Federal Mogul and the Dunklin County courthouse , a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Kennett and a member of the Keystone Masonic Lodge #41 in Hayti.
On Feb. 1, 1975, he married
Margaret Louise Oakes, who survives of the home. Survivors also include and two brothers, George Williams, of Hazelwood, Mo., and Ned Williams, of Aberdeen, Miss. and two brother-in-laws, Earl Green, of Denver, Colo. and James Oakes, of Milwaukee, Wis.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Benjamin Williams; two brother-in-laws, Cleo and George Green and one sister-in-law, Norris Williams.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday March 12, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Elmer Shockley officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oakridge cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers are Curtis Williams, Benny Johnson, Glen White, Alex Williams, Timothy McKinney, and Dr. Antonio Williams.
Honorary pallbearers are James Davis, Charles Isbell, James Vance, Dan Crawford, Sylvester Hudson, Flake McHaney and Jeffrey Williams.
Wayne Bateman
Wayne Morgan Bateman, 56, of Paragould, Ark., died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at the Senath Nursing Center in Senath, Mo.
Born March 9, 1946, in St. Louis, Mo., son of the late Virgil and Ola Gilbert Bateman, he was a farm worker and of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Wayne Bateman, of Klamath Falls, Ore. and Earl Wayne Bateman, of Cardwell, Mo.; two brothers, Robert Vern Bateman and Ronald Manford Bateman, both of Paragould, Ark.; five sisters, Georgie Huckabee, of Cardwell, Shirley Gilliam, Barbara Franklin and Ethel Rippy, all of Paragould and Peggy Huckabee, of Arbyrd, Mo. and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 13 in New Friendship cemetery.
