Avon Smith
Carl Avon Smith, 63, of Kennett, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born July 27, 1938, in Peach Orchard, Mo., he was the son of the late Carl C. Jack and Eva Marie Holt Smith.
On April 4, 1975, in Kennett, he married
Barbara Horton, who surivies of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Brandon Smith, of Kennett and Rick Smith and wife, Paula, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one brother, David Smith and wife, Donna, of Kennett and three sisters, Glenda Kellum and husband, John, of Star City, Ark., Janet Anthony and husband, Larry, of Kennettand Kathy Glewen and husband, Chris, of Grand Forks, N.D. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, March 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in with the Revs. Spencer Furby and Dennis Collins officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens at Kennett.
Pallbearers are Lawrence Holt, Ralph and Dennis Vandiver, Tommy Holt, Jerald Pickens and John Edmonston.
Leona Swinney
Leona Swinney, 82, of Kennett, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Three Rivers North Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, March 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Kennett with the Rev. Randol Caraway officiating.
Burial will follow in the Elder cemetery at Campbell, Mo.
Norene Bradshaw
Norene Bradshaw, 82, of Kennett, Mo., died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Aug. 28, 1919, in Senath, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Leo and Vera Ford.
She married
Ernie Clyde Bradshaw 66 years ago. The couple has lived at the Heritage Nursing Home in Kennett since June 1999.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Clyde D. Bradshaw of Phoenix, Ariz and Michael Bradshaw of Fenton, Mo.; two brothers, Kenneth Ford of O'Fallon, Ill. and Bill Ford of Labadie, Mo.; four grandchildren, Anthony and Michael Bradshaw, Jr., Shari Greenwalt and Stacey Robertson; seven great-grandchildren, Addam Brown, Jacob Greenwalt, Ashley and Katie Bradshaw, Austin Robertson and Coren Zachery Bradshaw.
She was preceded in death by a brother, L.J. Ford and a sister, Uquilla Patterson.
Funeral services and burial were 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Senath cemetery, with the Rev. Derek Combs officiating.
Mamie Brown
Mamie Autry Brown, 89, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at the Bowling Green Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky.
Born April 19, 1912, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, daughter of the late Enis and Nettie Horn Autry, she was employed by Brown Shoe Company before retiring.
On Aug. 25, 1957, she married
Howard Curry Brown who preceded her in death December 10, 1991.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Dwayne in 1963.
Survivors include one son, Bobby Dodd and his wife, Susie, of Bowling Green; one daughter, Sandy Sanders and her husband, Danny, of Caruthersville, Mo.; one sister, Hayrue Horton of Kennett, Mo.; four brothers, Clifford, Lexie and Gilbert Autry all of Cedar Grove, Tenn. and J.C. Autry of Dyersburg, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Debbie Croix of Kansas City, Mo., Donna Pederson of New Baden, Ill., Terry Schneider and Bobby Dodd II, both of Bowling Green and Michael and Jennifer Sanders, both of Caruthersville; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Anthony Stepp officiating.
Burial was in the Maple cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael and Jennifer Sanders, Bobby Dodd, Daniel Spicer, Jon Spicer and Ken Pederson, Jr.
Margarette Evans
Margarette Geneva Beniot Evans, 80, of Kennett, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Born March 7, 1922, in Senath,Mo., she was the daughter of the late Henry Francis and Addie Clayton Coley.
She married
Carl Evans who preceded her in death.
Survivors included eight children: Thomas Earl DePriest and Shelby Holmes, both of Kennett, Ava Beniot Evans and Dayton and Rayburn Evans, all of Senath, Chester Sullivan and Deborah Kinnard, both of Piggott, Ark. and Jerry Evans of Jeffersonville, Ind.; one brother, Chester Coley of Walla Walla, Wash.; one sister, Charlene Anzalone of Piggott, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Nuet and Walter Coley and a sister, Maxine Wheeler.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Senath with the Rev. Truman Wycoff officiating.
Burial was in the Senath cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Paul, Jamie and Jacob Lynn Kinnard, Billy Holmes, James Jones and Jamie Lee Evans.
Shirley Ervin
Shirley Ann Ervin, 61, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Monday, March 18, 2002, in Caruthersville.
Born Sept. 20, 1940, in Pemiscot County, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margie Norman Fields.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Randall Waid and a brother, Johnny Moore.
Survivors include four children, Steve and Mike Waid, both of Orlando, Fla., Jack Waid of South Florida and Janet Waid of Sikeston; six brothers, James Fields, Tommy Joe Moore and Bobby Moore all of Caruthersville, Jimmy Fields, Dickson, Mo., Jerry Moore of Blytheville, Ark., and Bill Moore of Black Oak, Ark; eight sisters, Rita and Pam Fields, both of Dickson, Ruth Ann Faulkner of Panama City, Fla., Betty Mott of Michigan, Sheila Bowen of Iberia, Mo., Pat Murphy of Dayton, Ohio, Betty Moore and Louise Moore, both of Indiana.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti, Mo., with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery at Steele, Mo.
Pallbearers were Michael Emery, Pat Gibson, Dewayne Risner, J.R. Beatty, T.J. Moore and Bobby Irions.
Audrey Holifield
Audrey Holifield, 80, of Kennett, Mo., died Friday, March 22, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Sunday, March 24, in the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25, in the Bradshaw Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Arthur Prenger
Arthur Prenger, 89, of Glennonville, Mo., died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born June 12, 1912, in Jefferson City, Mo., son of the late Herman and Martha Vanderfeltz Prenger, he was a retired farmer and a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Glennonville.
He married
Theresia Catherine Fuemmeler who preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Jo Ann Fuemmeler. Survivors include four daughters, Kathleen West of Malden, Mo., Mary Goggins of Bowling Green, Ky., Martha Fortman and her husband, Jeffrey of Nakesville, Va. and Joanie Garcia and her husband, David, of Whittier, Calif.; four sons, Richard and Dennis Prenger of Campbell, Mo., Cletus Prenger and his wife, Barbara, of Poplar Bluff and Timothy Prenger and his wife, Elaine, of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Christine Pounders of Memphis, Tenn.; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, March 25, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden, with Rosary services at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, at St. Teresa Church in Glennonville with Father Glenn Eftink officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Teresa cemetery in Glennonville.
Leona Swinney
Leona Swinney, 82, of Kennett, Mo., died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born Aug. 29, 1919, in Swifton, Ark.,, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Thomas Hicks, she was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Kennett.
On Sept. 18, 1939, she married
Edgar Earl Swinney who preceded her in death, Sept. 14, 1953.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Henry Hicks and a sister, Lucille Todd.
Survivors include one son, Henry Michael Swinney and his wife, Michelle, of St. Louis, Mo., and three daughters, Loretta Book and her husband, Ray, of Paragould, Ark., Aileen Blansett and her husband, Marlin, of Kennett and Earla Mae Riley and her husband, Earl, of St. Louis; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, in the Calvary Assembly of God church with the Rev. Randol Caraway officiating.
Burial was in the Elder cemetery at Campbell, Mo.
Pallbearers were Tony Parrish, Greg Morgan, Andy and Steve Hickson and Eddie and Nathan Collins.
Jonnie Adams
Jonnie Maerene Adams, 78, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.
Born Jan. 9, 1924, in Reagan, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late John Calvin and Allie Mae Grissom.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald "Dub" Adams, of Arbyrd; one son, Gerald Adams Jr., of Arbyrd; one daughter, Angela Adams, of Cardwell, Mo.; one sister, Imogene Eldridge and husband, Howard, of Paragould; one brother, Jim Grissom and wife, Jerri, of Gulfport, Ark. and two sisters-in-law, Faustina McNeil, of Paragould, Ark., and Wanda Zolman and husband, Winfred, of Arbyrd;
She was preceded in death by one son, David Adams and one sister, Kathleen Grissom.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 26, at the Arbyrd First Baptist Church at Arbyrd.
Burial was in the Linwood cemetery in Paragould, Ark.
Pallbearers were Larry Petty, Vernon Haddock, Steve Jackson, Randy Jumper, Neal Smith and Derrick Higgins.
Honorary pallbearers were Virgil McCormick, Howard Eldridge, Clint Rose and Billy Hopper.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Arbyrd was in charge of arrangements.
Josephine Anthony
Josephine Anthony, 32, of Kennett, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regiaol Medical Center in Kennett.
