Beulah Duthu
Beulah Louise Neal Duthu, 79, of Malden, Mo., died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born Sept. 2, 1922, in Currentview, Mo., daughter of the late Roy and Nettie May Kysar Bryant, she was a member of the 1st Assembly of God Church in Malden.
On May 19, 1980, in Parma, Mo., she married
Joseph Sidney Duthu, Sr., who survives of the home.
Survivors include two sons, Robin Neal, of Malden and Roland Neal, of Halnville, La.; two daughters, Janet Bradley, of Overland Park, Miss. and Billie Gay Neal, of Malden; four brothers, Frank Bryant, of Jasper, Ark., Lindel Bryant, of Gravios Mills, Mo., Milus Bryant, of Cave Creek, Ariz. and Bob Bryant, of Odessa, Mo.; one sister, Faye McCulley, of Witchita, Kan.; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Lang and Helen Robinson and two brothers, Alvin Bryant and Junior Bryant.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Thursday, March 28, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, at the First Assembly of God Church in Malden with Rev. Dale Shoup officiating.
Burial will follow in the Rosewood cemetery at Malden.
Ellis Southerland
Ellis Doyle Southerland, 80, of Braggadocio, Mo., died Sunday, March 24, 2002.
Born Dec. 8, 1921, in Lutts, Tenn., son of the late Walter and Carna Southerland, he was U.S. army veteran serving in WWII, a farmer and a member of the Vicksburg Church of God.
On Aug. 1, 1942, in Caruthersville, Mo., he married
Helen French, who survives of the home.
Survivors include one son, Jim Southerland and wife, Diana, of Franklin, Tenn.; three daughters, Karen Dukewits, of Tulsa, Okla., Jan Payne and husband, Bob, of Springfield, Mo., and Parah Coffey and husband, Jerry, of Boulder, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Megan and Ashley Southerland, of Franklin, Tenn., John and Jennifer Dukewits, of Tulsa, Okla., Jason and Jill Payne, of Springfield, Mo. and Clark Coffey, of Boulder, Colo.; two sisters, Edith Golden, of Elizabethton, Tenn. and Anita Symes, of Tyler, Texas; two brothers, Hershel, of Valles Mines, Mo. and Weylan, of Spokane, Mo. and one great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Allison Coffey; one sister, Hazel Weldon and two brothers, James and Wade.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Revs. Glyn Davis, Allen Gross and James Powell officiating.
Burial was in the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were John Dukewits, Jason Payne, Clark, Grant and Jerry Coffey and Bob Payne. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Bryant, J.W. Cunningham, Earl Golden, Allen Gross, Floyd Owen, Phinehas Symes, Corey Tracy and Grady Inman.
Mable Thomas
Mable Thomas, 96, of Kennett, died today,Thursday, March 28, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Funeral services are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.
Oscar Turnage
Oscar Turnage, 79, of Kennett, died Monday, March 25, 2002, in Kennett.
Born Dec. 1, 1922, in Hayti, Mo., son of the late Oscar and Cladie Mae Walton Turnage, he was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII, a member of the Third Street Baptist Church, a Mason, a Shriner and a retired project engineer of the U.S. Corps of Engineers.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Margaret Turnage, of Kennett; three children, Valerie White and husband, Lindsey, of Pascola, Mo., Kinberly Williams and husband, Rusty, of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Steven Porter and wife, Mary, of St. Charles, Mo..; two brothers, James Newson and wife, Edna, Conway, Ark. and Doyle Wayne Newson, of Memphis, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Joe and Josh White, Emily and Travis Williams and Landon Porter.
Funeral services were held at11 a.m. today, Thursday, March 28, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bud Evans officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn cemetery at Hayti, Mo.
Pallbearers were Lindsey, Josh and Joe White, Rusty and Travis Williams and Doyle Wayne and Jimmy Calvin Newson.
Honorary pallbearers were Beverly Vann, Ray Elder, Elvis Bell, Huel Jackson and Raymon Casper.

Josephine Anthony, 32, of Kennett, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Vistation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the Community Temple Church of God in Christ in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Community Temple Church of God in Christ with Bishop Don Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oakridge cemetery in Kennett. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
Willis Kelley
Willis Kelley, 79, of Kennett, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 29, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at the McDaniel Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Mabel Thomas
Mabel Thomas, 96, of Kennett, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2002, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Kennett.
Luther Adams
Luther Lloyd Adams, 70, of Cheektawaga, New York, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital in Buffalo, New York.
Born Aug. 5, 1931, in Walnut Ridge, Ark. son of the late Lloyd E. and Gladys Rose Dalton Adams, he attended the Assembly of God Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean Conflict. He was a truck driver.
He married
Donna Kruscka who preceded him in death in 1962. On June 27, 1987, in Springfield, Mo., he married
Ruth L. Day, who survives of the family home.
Other survivors include two step-daughters, Sylvia Bauer of Tampa, Fla. and Shirrill Sue Myers of Chickamauga, Ga.; a brother, Loyd "Bud" Adams and his wife, Louise, of Koshkonong, Mo.; three sisters, Birtie LaVaughn Crawford and her husband, Jim, of Thayer, Mo.; a sister, Ruby Catherine Deal of Quitman, Texas, and Mary Elizabeth Milligan and her husband, David, of Forney, Texas; five step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at the Assembly of God Church in Koshkonong, with the Rev. Lloyd Adams officiating.
Burial was in the Koshkonong cemetery under direction of Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden, Mo.
Norma Austin
Norma M. Austin, 87, of Visalia, Calif., died March 28, 2002, in Visalia.
Born July 11, 1914, in Campbell, Mo., daughter of the late Marion and Gertie Parrent Riley, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Norman Austin of Wichita, Kans. and Bobby Schneider of Visalia; a sister, Hilda Henderson of Arcadia, Calif. and four grandchildren, Lonnie Schneider of Cathedral City, Calif., Lynn Nolan of Yorba Linda, Calif., Neal and Jennifer Austin of Wichita.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the Miller Memorial Chapel.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice of Tulare County, Inc., 900 W. Oak Ave., Visalia, Calif. 93291.
Arranges are under direction of Miller Memorial Chapel in Visalia.
Wilbur Demaree
Wilbur Demaree, 88, of Marion, Ark., and formerly of Malden, Mo., died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at his home.
Born Aug. 17, 1913, in Malden, son of the late Abraham Otto and Sarah Elizabeth Bunnell Demaree, he was a member of the United Methodist Church in Malden. Demaree was a farmer and owner of Demaree Oil Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during World War II.
On Aug. 1, 1951, in Piggott, Ark., he married
Martha Ann Hampton, who preceded him in death on Aug. 7, 2000.
Survivors include a son, George Demaree of Marion, Ark.; a daughter, Kandi Hopwood of Marion; three grandchildren, Gary Demaree, Tori Fraley and Nick Hopwood, all of Marion and one great-grandchild, Emma Caroline Fraley of Marion.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Chalmer, Robert, Billy and Wade Demaree.
Funeral services were 4 p.m. Saturday, March 30, in the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden wit the Rev. Robert Morgan officiating.
Burial was in Park cemetery of Malden.
Memorials may be made to the Bootheel Youth Museum or to the Alzheimer's Association.
Buster Frix
Buster Frix, 87, of Farmington, Mo., died March 28, 2002.
Born Dec. 17, 1914, at Sand Mountain, Ala., son of the late John Malcolm and Pearl Asalee Kirby Frix, he attended schools in Georgia. Frix was a farmer and motel manager before retirement. He was a mason and member of Temple Baptist Church of Caruthersville, Mo.
He married
Mary Frances Mann. In 1980, at Caruthersville, he married
Eva Wood who preceded him in death in Dec. 1988.
Survivors include three daughters, Faye Shepard, Louise Cunningham and Sherry Drye all of Farmington; three sisters, Jeffie Goodrum of Caruthersville, Elsie Shelby of Bertrand, Mo., and Lois Evans of Bloomfield, Mo.; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sister.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, with the Rev. Jerry Harmon officiating.
Burial was in Maple cemetery, under direction of H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Melvin Mann, John Mann, Charles Drye, Gary Henley, Steven Shepard and Rev. Mark T. Cunningham.
Adam Harmon
Adam Lee "Pete" Harmon, 77, of Mosier, Ore., died at his home Wednesday, March 27, 2002.
Born Dec. 27, 1924, at Holcomb, son of the late Roy and Wilice Thornberry Harmon, he was a member of Life in Christ Center Church, United Steelworkers, Oregon Territorial Council on Furs and National Trappers Assn. He retired from Harvey Aluminum/Martin Marietta Aluminum in 1985.
On May 3, 1942, in Paragould, Ark., he married
Iva Louise Smith, who survives of the family home.
Other survivors include sons Dannie "Doc" Harmon and his wife, Jayne, of The Dalles, Ore., Jerry Harmon, and his wife, Patty, of Boise, Idaho; DeLinda Koster and her husband, Bob, Janice Menzie, Cathy Smith and her husband, David, Becky Bradley and her husband, Terry, all of The Dalles; brothers Dick Harmon of Boliver, Mo., John Harmon of Senath, Mo., Tom Harmon of Holcomb and Frank Harmon of Stockton, Mo.; a sister, Eve Dinkens of Senath; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Mosier Christian Church with Pastor Dennis C. Connor and Rev J.W. Jepson officiating.
Interment followed in the Mosier cemetery under direction of the Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home.
