Earl Johnson
Earl Kenneth Johnson, 74, of Kennett, died Friday, March 29, 2002 at his home.
Born Sept. 27, 1927, in Kennett, son of the late George and Nell Wilsong Johnson, he was a farmer and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.
On Aug. 31, 1984, he married
June Whitlock, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Vic Brooks of Jonesboro, Ark. and Chad Brooks of Kennett; a daughter, Kalene Warner of Antioch, Tenn., and 8 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today, Sunday, March 31, at Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Brian Whitlock officiating.
Pallbearers are Derek Whitlock, Curt Whitlock, Terry Hicks, Jerry Hicks, Bobbie McMasters and Jim Heath.
Funeral arrangements are under direction of McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett.
Willis Kelley
Willis Kelley, 79, of Kennett, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Born Nov. 2, 1922, in Hamburg, Ark., son of the late Lonnie L. and Braska Standard Kelley, he was a member of Third Street Baptist Church of Kennett and the Lions Club. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Air Force.
On Dec. 20, 1941, in Corssett, Ark., he married
Norma Carnes, who survives.
Other survivors include a son, Tommy Kelley, and his wife, Linda, of Kennett; two daughters, karen Kirkpatrick and Kathy Ford, both of Kennett; a sister, Jayne Pennington of Crossett, Ark.; six grandchildren, Kevin Sullivan, Brett Sullivan, Kris Kelley, Kyle Kelley, Becky Vidal and Kelley Ford and three great-grandchildren, Dustin, Shelby and Hope Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Edward Kelley and a sister, Marie Simpson.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, in the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Revs. Bud Evans, Gary Mayes and Kevin Sullivan officiating.
Burial will be in the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers were Rev. Gary Mayes, Richard Rice, Tommy and Kyle Kelley, Kevin and Brett Sullivan. Honorary pallbearears were Don Haney, Jack Rowland, Ray Elders, Elvis Bell, Huel Jackson, Carlton Crom and Raymon Casper.
Mabel Thomas
Mabel Thomas, 96, of Kennett, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at National Health Care of Kennett.
Born June 13, 1905, in Kennett, daughter of the late Willis and Hettie Grugett Roberston, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Kennett since 1919. She took over kindergarten at the church until kindergarten became part of the school system.
On Jan. 22, 1928, she married
Wesley Earnest Thomas who preceded her in death Nov. 6, 1982.
Survivors include three daughters Jerri Scott of Kennett, Janice Gabriel of Ottumwa, Iowa and Linda Robinette of Memphis, Tenn. and three granddaughters, Dr. Carol Scott and Laura Scott, both of Springfield, Mo. and Lee Ann Lemal of Norwich, Vermont.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Fenske.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.
Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers were Tom Kinsey, Tommy Striegel, John Tant, Brandon Rouse, Ollie Craft and Joe Prance. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of First Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Kennett.
Billie Floyd
Billie Rose Floyd, 60, of Senath, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. today, Sunday, Sept. 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Senath.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, in the McDaniel Chapel. Burial will be in Senath cemetery in Senath.
W.A. Gilpin
W.A. Gilpin, 77, of Holcomb, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 29, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born April 29, 1925, at Poplar Bluff, Mo., a son of the late James Richard and Bertha Lee Davis Gilpin, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Sept. 20, 1947, he married
Geraldine Reed who survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Rick Gilpin of Holcomb, Gary Gilpin and his wife, Carolyn, of Arnold, Mo., Jim Gilpin and his wife, Sheila, of Kennett and Randy Gilpin and his wife, Roxy, of Trumann, Ark.; one brother, Roy Levi Gilpin of Campbell, Mo.; two sisters, Sally Kerr of Bernie, Mo. and Pansy Holt of Dexter, Mo.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jess and Rollie Gene Gilpin and one sister, Oretha Trout.
Funeral services are 3:30 p.m. today, Sunday, Sept. 1, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett, with the Rev. Dennis Collins officiating.
Burial in the Stanfield cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.
Pallbearers are Rick Gilpin, Gary Gilpin, Jim Gilpin, Randy Gilpin, Chico Alsup and Courtney Gilpin.
Larry Jones
Larry Jones, 61, of Cardwell, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Sept. 1, at Calvary Full Gospel Church in Cardwell with the Rev. Leland Dement officiating.
Burial will be in Cardwell cemetery in Cardwell.

John Chandler
John Mark Chandler, 78, of Senath, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at the Senath Nursing Home in Senath.
Born Jan. 7, 1924, in Bucoda, Mo., son of the late J.P. and Maebelle Tatum Chandler, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WWII and a farmer.
On March 24, 1956, in Senath, he married
Margie Creed, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Freddie Chandler, of Senath; two daughters, Markita Kuntze and Mary Williams, both of Paragould, Ark.; two brothers, Tommy Joe Chandler, of Senath and Ben H. Chandler, of Texarkana, Ark.; three sisters, Betty Jane Aumon, of Steele, Mo., Millie Ann Chailland, of Senath and Lula Belle Baird, of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlotte Chandler and one sister, Mary Etta Johnson.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Gerald Crucani officiating.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of arrangements.
Nola Christian
Nola Ella Christian, 81, of Hornersville, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at her residence.
Born Sept. 15, 1920, in Raven Den, Ark., daughter of the late George and Jewell Brinkley Potter, she was a member of the Hornersville Baptist Church.
On Dec. 24, 1949, in Piggott, Ark., she married
Buster Christian, who preceded her in death on June 20, 1994. She was also preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Brooks; one sister, Sylvia Brooks; two brothers, J.D. and Roy Wayne Potter.
Survivors include four daughters, Rosemary Richardson and Penny James, both of Hornersville, Patsy Shelton, of Piggott, Ark. and Shirley Gattis, of West Memphis, Ark.; three sons, John L. Christian, of West Memphis, Charles Chrstian, of St. Louis, Mo. and Junior Christian, of Flint, Mich,; two sisters, Joy Coleman, of Manila, Ark. and Pat Smith, of Kennett; one brother, Teddy Potter, of Kennett; a daughter-in-law, Joyce O'Donnell, of Cape Fair, Mo.; 24 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Hornersville Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
Burial was in the Horner cemetery at Hornersville.
Pallbearers were Terry Keating, Marty Moore, Bond Rouse, Jerry Branum, Jimmy Lee, Jr. and Jim Schell.
Memorials may be made to the Hornersville Baptist Church Building Fund.

Garneeta Cooley
Garneeta "Gay" Cooley, 76, of Ann Arbor, Mich., died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Ann Arbor.
Born Feb. 17, 1926, in Salem, Ark., daughter of the late Torrey and Martha Elizabeth Stroud Morrison, she was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and worked as a visiting nurse.
She married
Fred Cooley, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jessie Harper and Faye Knotts.
Survivors include two daughters, Tanis Robinson and husband, Bruce, of Fenton, Mich. and Kindra Cooley, of Ann Arbor; three brothers, Clyde Morrison and wife, Veda and Dale Morrison and wife, Vivian, all of Springfield, Mo. and Dean Morrison and wife, Deloris, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; five sisters, Lavene Powell and husband, Robert, of Kennett, Opal Miller and Veda Ross, both of Poplar Bluff, Georgia Hancock, of Philadelphia, Pa. and Fern George, of Berkley, Mich.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with James Powell officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Willie Green, Robert Powell, Tollivar Brown, Bruce Robinson, Jim Hackworth and Victor Mode.
Carl Dye
Carl E. Dye, 64, of White Oak, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at his residence.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.
James Eubanks
James Eulas Eubanks, 84, of Paragould, Ark., died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at his residence.
Born Sept. 3, 1917, in Hollywood, Mo., son of the late Melvin and Izora Eubanks, he was a farmer, a truck driver and a member of the East Main Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Charlette Eubanks, of Paragould; two daughters, Sue Crews, of Paragould and Judy Bryant and husband, Don, of Redfield, Ark.; five grandchildren, Lisa and Mike Crews, Gina Copeland, Jennifer Bethea and Andy Conner and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle Gene and John Dudley Eubanks and one granddaughter, Stephanie Conner.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Dale House, Zane Gray and Mike Latimer officiating.
Burial was in the Lulu cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tommy Bethea, Don Bryant, Andy Conner, Keith and Parker Copeland and Mike Crews.
