Pauline Thompson
Pauline Thompson, 89, of Senath, Mo., died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.
Born July 4, 1913, in Hornersville, Mo., she was a daughter of the late Ed and Rosa Burton McCuen.
On July 4, 1936, in Senath, she married
William Thompson who preceded her in death Oct. 29, 1974.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Mary Thompson of Owensville, Mo.; two grandchildren, Gidget Holt and her husband, Ken, of Fenton, Mo. and Kevin Thompson and wife, Mary, of Cedar Hill, Mo. and three great-grandchildren, Sara and Mattie Thompson and Chloe Holt.
She was preceded in death by a son, Clois "Rod" Thompson; two brothers, Bond and Ray McCuen and a sister, Parthina Corbett.
Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 6, at the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Senath with the Rev. Leland Dement officiating.
Burial was in the McGrew cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ryan Bateman, Joe Thompson, Joe Don Thompson, Kevin Thompson and Ken Holt.
Ronny Wilborn
Ronny Wilborn, 58, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Aug. 8, 1944, at Cardwell, Mo., a son of Walker Wilborn of Paragould, Ark. and the late Opal Wilborn, he was a farmer and veteran of the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Wilborn of the home; a son, Jason Wilborn of the home; one brother, Ken Wilborn of Turkey, N.C. and two sisters, Marilyn Dempsey and her husband, James, of Ellendale, Tenn. and Dawna Schatzley and her husband, Bill, of Paragould, Ark.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould, Ark. with Chris Dempsey and Herbert Knight officiating.
Burial will be in Lulu cemetery near Senath.
Pallbearers are his nephews: Andy Schatzley, Ed Dempsey, John Freeman, Danny Knight, Curt Wilborn, Danny Ray Knight and Montgomery Dempsey.
Honorary pallbearers are C.B. Anderson, Mike Rutherford, Harold Turpin and Doug Richardson.
Maxine Brown
Maxine Tucker Brown, 80, of Memphis, Tenn., died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Memphis.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wedneaday, Sept. 11, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Maxine Brown
Maxine Tucker Brown, 80, of Memphis, Tenn., died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Memphis.
Born June 12, 1922, in Kinder, Mo., she was the daughter of the late W.L. and Edna Davis Tucker.
She married
Raymond G. Brown, who preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 1983. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Williams, one grandson and three brothers, John, Jim and Charles Tucker.
Survivors include one son, Don Brown, of Memphis; one daughter, Diana Poole, of Memphis; three brothers, Bill, Wayne and Dean Tucker, all of Kennett; one sister, Pearl Crites, of Kennett and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Brad, Brian, Kenny, Bruce and Keith Tucker and Scotty Marchbanks.
Ellis Duffel
Ellis Duffel, 82, of Clarkton, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at John Cockran VA Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Stanfield Baptist Church in Clarkton with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.
Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton.
Ellis Duffel
Ellis Duffel, 82, of Clarkton, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at John Cockran VA Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Born July 2, 1920, in Marmaduke, Ark., son of the late E.M. amd Effie Gertrude Potter Duffel, he was a U.S. veteran, a farmer and a member of the Stanfield Baptist Church in Clarkton.
He married
Reva Smith, who preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 1972. He later married
Grace Smith on June 24, 1973 and she preceded him in death on Nov, 4, 1990. On April 3, 1994, in Clarkton, he married
Gurline Bell, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Dennis Duffel, of Clarkton; one daughter, Margaret Jahay, of Hazelton, Kan.; two brothers, Don Duffel, of St. Louis and Hershel Duffel, of Houston, Mo.; one sister, Estelle Cuttle, of St. Louis; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Duffel; one brother, Carlos Duffel and one sister, Flucie Smart.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Stanfield Baptist Church in Clarkton with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.
Burial was in the Stanfield cemetery at Clarkton.
Pallbearers were Rodney and Daniel Lawless, Guy Foster, Alan Evans, Glen Roland and Eric Jahay.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
Ruby Forsythe
Ruby Forsythe, 84, of Steele, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at her residence.
Born Sept. 20, 1917, in Holland, Mo., daughter of the late Jody and Maggie Shumate Lumsden, she ws a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Tyler, Mo.
On Oct. 3, 1931, in Huffman, Ark., she married
Halford Clifford Forsythe, who preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1997.
Survivors include four sons, Clifton U. Forsythe, of Cooter, Mo. and Troy, Roy and Dale D. Forsythe, all of Tyler; three daughters, Alma R. Fournier, of Bakersfield, Calif., Mary Franklin, of Tyler and Joyce DeFoe, of Blytheville, Ark.; one sister, Opal Fowler, of Redding, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 12 step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville, Mo., with the Revs. Gary Andrews and William Clark officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery at Steele.
Pallbearers were Steve and Jeff Forsythe, Jason Anderson, Allen Franklin and Scott and Mike DeFoe.
Bobby Lack
Bobby Lack, 69, of Campbell, Mo., died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Landess Funeral Home of Campbell.
Leo Like, Sr.
Leo R. Like, Sr., 61, of Millington, Tenn., fomerly of Campbell, Mo., died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at his residence.
Born June 30, 1941, in Holcomb, Mo., son of the late Elmus Jake Like and Mary Alice Weeks, he was a U.S. Navy veteran and of the Baptist faith.
On Dec. 1, 1959, he married
Martha Carpenter, who survives of the home. Survivors also include two daughters, Carrie Tarrance, of Memphis, Tenn. and Donna England, of Walls, Miss.; one son, Leo R. Like, Jr., of Wichita, Kan.; his step-mother, Carleen Like, of Campbell; a grandmother, Minnie Mabrey, of Campbell and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with LaVerne Wright officiating.
Burial will follow at the Woodlawn cemetery in Campbell.
Memorials may be made to the Methodist Alliance Hospice, St. Jude Children's Hospital or the American Red Cross.
Freddie Moss ' Freddie Moss, 67, of Oklahoma, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, in Oklahoma.
Born in Hernando, Miss., he was the son of the late Reverse Moss, Sr. and Lena Clayton Moss.
Survivors include three daughters, Joann Davis and husband, Willie, of Blytheville, Ark., Freddie Mae and Donna Moss, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four sons, Freddie Moss, Jr., Donnell, Chris and Frederic Moss, all of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Maggie Dean, of Washington Park, Ill., Alma J. Moss, of Fairview Heights, Ill. and Lovie Jean Clay, of Blytheville; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the McDonald-Horne Funeral Home in Blytheville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the McDonald-Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Burton Furlow officiating.
Burial will follow at Memory Gardens.
William Smart
William Donald Smart, 73, of Clarkton, Mo., died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Feb. 9, 1929, in Gideon, Mo., he was the son of the late Arttie and Willie Ann LaFont Smart.
Survivors include three brothers, Virgil and Evertt Smart, both of Clarkton and Jessie Smart, of Sioux Saint Marie, Mich.; one sister, Pearl Loughary, of Gideon and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Garrison.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Gideon with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Gilead cemetery in Clarkton.
