Dubb Ford
Dubb Ford, 82, of Hornersville, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Hornersville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the United Methodist Church in Hornersville with the Revs. Mike Hargraves and Doug Clinton officiating.
Burial will follow at the Horner cemetery.
Emma Foster
Emma Marie Foster, 79, of Kennett, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Feb. 9, 1923, in Arbyrd, Mo., daughter of the late Robert Lee Fleming and Lula Grace Smith, she was a homemaker.
She married
Murrel Foster, who preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1981. She was also preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Foster; one brother in infancy and three sisters, Jessie McCurdy, Myrtle Davis and Irene Campbell.
Survivors include two sisters, Ruby Crowell, of St. Charles, Mo. and Grace Dennis, of Kennett and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
Claramay Grimes
Claramay Brown Grimes, 62, of Camden, Ark., died Satruday, Sept. 14, 2002, at her residence.
Born May 25, 1940, in Gideon, Mo., daughter of the late Fountain and Clara Kirk Brown, she was the owner of a book store and of the Methodist faith.
She married
Gary Wayne Grimes, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one daughter, Jill Christine Fairley, of McKinney, Texas; two sons, Andrew Corey Grimes, of North Little Rock, Ark. and Timothy Ronald Grimes, of Newark, Del.; one brother, Paul Brown, of Searcy, Ark.; one sister, Christine Brown, of Searcy and four grandchildren, Amelia and Madeline Fairley and Ethan and Audra Grimes.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Powell Funeral Home in Searcy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the First United Methodist Church in Searcy.
Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Malden Memorial Park cemetery in Malden, Mo.
Nella Kelley
Nella Kelley, 88, of Braggadocio, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Jan. 16, 1914, in Tennessee, daughter of the late Sherman and Nancy Ham Staggs, she was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.
On March 5, 1930, in Decaturville, Tenn., she married
James Levi Kelley, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Mart Staggs, Jr. and Walter (Sandy) Kelley and one daughter, Margaret King.
Survivors include six sons, Junior Kelley, of Wardell, Mo., Henry (Cotton) Kelley, of Braggadocio, J.R. Kelley, of Steele, Mo., Tommy Kelley, of Alexandria, La., Melvin Kelley, of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Chester Kelley, of Caruthersville Mo.; five daughters, Sue Austin, of Sardis, Tenn., Billie Jo Casteel and Patricia Wilcox, both of Braggadocio, Mary Rodgers, of Memphis, Tenn, and Bobbie Jean (Barbara) Clay, of Pascola, Mo.; 72 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Boyd officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion cemetery in Steele.
Bradley and Brandon Palmer
Bradley Lee and Brandon Dale Palmer, infant sons of Bobby Dale Palmer and Maggie Alena Chafin, of Dexter, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
Survivors also include one brother, Ameal Manuel Chafin, of Dexter; paternal grandparents, Joe and Teresa Cecil, of Dexter and Ronald and Carolyn Palmer, of Bernie, Mo.; maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Barbara Hill Chafin, of Gray Ridge, Mo. and Lisa and Anthony Pafford, of Camden, Tenn.; paternal great-grandparents, Bobby and Margaret Adams and Ronald Palmer, Sr., all of Bernie; paternal great-grandmother, Phillis Gilmore, of Malden, Mo. and maternal great-grandparents, George Chafin, of Gray Ridge, Linda Lemons, of Dexter and Carol Rodgers, Sr., of Camden.
Visitation will begin after 12 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Chalk Bluff cemetery near Dexter with the Rev. Doyle Corlew officiating.
Leroy Potts
Leroy Potts, 76, of Kennett, died today, Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.
Max Putnam
Max Lynn Putnam, 63, of Bernie, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.
Born May 16, 1939, in Dexter, son of Vivian Perry Putnam, of Bernie and the late G.E. Putnam, he was truck driver and was presently employed at Southeast Coop in Dexter.
On June 9, 1956, in Bernie, he married
Jean Williams, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three daughters, Teresa Hutchcraft and husband, David, Tammy Brown and husband Michael and Kelly Urhahn and husband, Derek, all of Dexter; four grandsons, Garett and Justin Hutchcraft, Bradley Brown and Myles Urhahn, all of Dexter; one granddaughter, Macy Urhahn, of Dexter and three brothers, Harold Putnam, of Warrenton, Mo., Larry Putnam, of Phillipsburg, Mo. and Gary Putnam, of Dexter.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dean Williams and Kenneth Biggs officiating.
Burial will follow at the Bernie cemetery.
Brandi Rash
Brandi Nicole Rash, 25, of Steele, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at The Med in Memphis, Tenn.
Born Dec. 7, 1976, in Hayti, Mo., daughter of Roger Davis, of Steele and Jan Brown Hojnacki, of Blytheville, Ark., she was a homemaker and attended the Church of Christ in Steele.
She married
Kevin Rash, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three children, Alyssa, Tyler and Madison, all of Steele; grandparents, Mary Davis, of Steele and Ruby Brown, of Blytheville, Ark. and two brothers, Shawn Brown and Adam Hojnacki, both of Blytheville.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Virgil Davis and Floyd Brown.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with John Mundy officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion cemetery in Steele.
Stella Wilson
Stella Wilson, 88, of Senath, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at the Senath Nursing Center in Senath.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayland Tom officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Scottie Barnett
Scottie Stephen Barnett, 44, of Wappapello, Mo., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born Oct. 11, 1957, in Dexter, Mo., son of Clifford Leon Barnett, of Wappapello and the late Norma Cantrell Barnett, he was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors also include two daughters, Susan Barnett, of Greenville, Mo. and Sabre Barnett, of Tupelo, Miss.; three sisters, Sharon Mays, of Parma, Mo., Melody Stockstill, of Clever, Mo. and Jeanie Jaco, of Overland, Mo.; one brother, Michael Barnett, of Colony, Texas and one grandson, Chance Barnett, of Greenville.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Rosewood cemetery in Malden with David McElwain officiating.
Maecel Dorris
Maecel Tant (Tommie) Dorris, 83, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., formerly of Hayti, Mo., died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, in Cape Girardeau.
Born July 9, 1919, in Wardell, Mo., daughter of the late John and Mary Anna Hobson Tant, she was a retired educator from the Hayti School System, a member of the Hayti First United Methodist Church, The Guild, Missouri State Teachers Association and the DAR.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Rhodes and husband, Bill, of Davie, Fla.; three grandchildren, Mary Stevens and Sarah Blacker, both of Knoxville, Tenn. and Paul Rhodes, of Little Elm, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Taylar and Benjamin Rhodes and one brother John Tant and wife, Mendy, of Kennett.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church in Hayti with the Rev. Sue Cubbage officiating.
Burial was in the Portageville cemetery at Portageville, Mo.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
Lorene Dunaway
Lorene Dunaway, 74, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died today, Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at the Westwood Nursing Home in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
Dubb Ford
Benjamin Franklin "Dubb" Ford, 82, of Hornersville, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born April 6, 1920, in Hornersville, son of the late John M. Ford, Sr. and Viola Belle Hinkle Ford, he was a lifelong resident of Hornersville, a retired rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and later worked as a bookkeeper for the Rouse and Edmonston Gin. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Hornersville, where he held several church offices and served on its board. He coached local Little League Baseball teams for 42 years, prompting community officials to name the city's baseball facility the "Dubb Ford Baseball Field". He was a longtime member of the Farmers and Merchants Club, where he served as its secretary and treasurer. Ford was a U.S. Army veteran.
On July 30, 1942, in Knoxville, Tenn., he married
Anne Taylor. They were married
for 60 years.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Ford, of Hornersville; two sons, John "Dubber" Ford and wife, Barbara, of Jonesboro, Ark. and Larry Steven Ford and wife, Skyla, of Brownsville, Texas; one daughter, Suzanne Holcomb, of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, Alva J. "Buck: Ford, of Memphis, Tenn. and L. Hadley Ford, of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Phyllis Crawford, of Denver Colo.; seven grandchildren, Brett, Sharon, Michael and Randy Elliott Ford, Robyn Smallwood, Ben Cameron and Jennifer Kellett and one great-grandchild, Josie Elliott.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Frances Ann Ford; two sisters, Hester Ford and Mildred Taylor and two brothers, Anderson "Ance" Ford and John M. Ford, Jr.
Funeral services were held today, Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the First United Methodist Church in Hornersville with the Revs. Mike Hargraves and Doug Clinton officiating.
Burial was in the Horner cemetery.
Pallbearers were Randy Smith, Chris Droke, Mark, Marty and Max Ray Moore and Rocky Hambrick.
Honorary pallbearers were past members of the Hornersville Little League. McDaniel Funeral Home of Hornersville was in charge of arrangements.
