Joseph McLeod
Joseph Donald McLeod, 70, of Millbrook, Ala., died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, at his residence.
Born in Blytheville, Ark., son of the late Herman and Pauline McLeod, he was a U.S. Army Communications Specialist during the Korean conflict. He graduated from Deering High School in Deering, Mo. in 1950.
Survivors include his wife, Joanna McLeod, of Millbrook; two daughters, Laura McLeod and Donna Adams and husband, Aric; two grandsons, Elijah and Auguste Adams, of Millbrook; one sister, Frances Forrest, of Kennett and two brothers, R.L. McLeod, of Brownsville, Tenn. and Herman McLeod, Jr., of Searcy, Ark.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Paula McConnell.
Louise Parker
Louise Parker, 72, of St. Louis, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, at St. Louis University Hospital.
Born April 27, 1930, in Gurdon, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Winston and Willie Mae Collins Carter, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three sisters, Luberta McKinney, of St. Louis, Martha Holt Pry, of Steele, Mo. and Iola Turner, of Portland, Ore. and a host of nieces, nephews, great nephews and other relatives.
She was prerceded in death by two sisters, Lula Mae Pitts and Gloria Jean Carter; one brother, Henry Elbert Carter and two step-brothers, Gilbert and Sammie Carter.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Morning Star Baptist Church in Steele with Pastor Larrie C. Bell, Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the Morning Star cemetery in Steele.
Leroy Potts
Leroy Potts, 76, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at his residence. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ben Jordan officating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Charles Smith
Charles E. Smith, 67, of Kennett, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at National HealthCare in Kennett.
Born June 10, 1935, in Kennett, he was the son of the late Ben C. and Bessie L. Moore Smith.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Smith and Sandra Walker, both of Paragould, Ark. and Renee Brown, of Freeport, Fla.; one step-daughter, Jan Sumner, of Paragould; one brother, Harold W. Smith, of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Ada Jean Kirby, of Kennett and Barbara Jane Fox, of Sikeston, Mo.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Alicia Smith and four brothers, Douglas B., Bennie D., Gary D. and Freddie M. Smith.
Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Lee Weeks officiating.
Pallbearers were Van Morris, Frankie and Terry Finley, Tommy Crawford and Jerry Mashburn.
Stella Wilson
Stella Wilson, 88, of Senath, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at the Senath Nursing Center.
Born April 29, 1914, in Vandale, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Lon G. and Clara E. Skaggs Rush.
On March 22, 1937, in Senath, she married
Lynn Wilson, who preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1977.
Survivors include one son, Wayne "Sonny" Krantz and wife, Linda, of Senath; two brothers, Charlie Rush, of Albany Ga. and Paul Rush, of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Lorene Fuscon and Barbara Naomi Brunelli, both of Tucson; two grandchildren, Jerry Lynn Krantz, of Senath and Kelli Hulsman, of Wills Point, Texas and four great-grandchildren, David, Joshua, Jacob and Noah Hulsman.
Funeral services were held today, Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with the Rev. Wayland Tom officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Jim Hayes, Jack Higgins, Gerald Gentry, Joe Lane, Bill Anderson, Jamie Cates, John Wilcox, James Davis, Charlie Adams and John Mayberry.
Lorene Dunaway
Lorene Dunaway, 74, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at the Westwood Hills Nursing Center in Poplar Bluff.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Chatman officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Rdige cemetery in Kennett.
Elsie Holt
Elsie Ann Holt, 92, of Rector, Ark., died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at National HealthCare in Kennett.
Born March 2, 1910, in Ozark, Ark., daughter of the late G.W. and Sue Elizabeth Mcdade, she was of the Methodist faith and was active in the Rector Little League.
She married
J.O. Holt, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Jerry O. Holt.
Survivors include one niece, Margurette McHaney, of Kennett.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating.
Burial was in the Woodland Heights cemetery at Rector.
Pallbearers were Byron Underwood, Bill Vanlandingham, Dwight Vangilder, Danny Holifield, Dewey Shelton and Bill White.
Leroy Potts
Leroy Potts, 76, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at his residence.
Born Jan. 28, 1926, in Calhoun, Miss., he was the son of the late William Joseph Nathaniel Potts and Ester Vlela McKinney.
On Sept. 30, 1949, he married
Frances Eloise Brigance, who survies of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Floyd and Eric Potts, both of Kennett; one daughter, Sharon Bliss, of Kennett; two brothers, Elbert and William"Bill" Potts, both of Kennett; three sisters, Lois Cagle, of West Memphis, Ark., Velma Starnes, of Mumsford, Tenn. and Helen Ramsey, of Kennett; six grandchildrren and five great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.

Shellie Bane
Shellie Bane, 69, of Kennett, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at National HealthCare in Kennett.
Born Oct. 19, 1932, in Steele, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Buford Mason and Elizabeth Thrasher Cross.
Survivors include seven brothers, Floyd Cross, of Horn Lake, Miss., Gene Cross, of Williamsville, Mo., Dennis Cross, of Wynne, Ark., Villis Cross, of Elsinore, Mo., Charles Cross, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., David Cross, of Paragould, Ark. and Larry Cross, of Arlington, Tenn. and four sisters, Birdie McCollum, of McRae, Ark., Helen Gurley, of Arlington, Clara Richardson, of New Albany, Miss. and Nancy Cross, of Poplar Bluff.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Don Cross.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Derek Combs officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.
Fannie Harrison
Fannie Elizabeth Harrison, 92, of Steele, Mo., died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at River Oaks Care Center in Steele.
Born Jan. 5, 1910, in Savannah, Tenn., daughter of the late Aubrey Walter and Sarah Ward Harrison, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one sister, Anna Harrison, of Jacksonville, Ark. and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 20, at the Mt. Zion cemetery in Steele, with the Revs. Jim Mousie and John Bradley officiating.
Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
Freedia Hawkins
Freedia Hawkins, 50, of Kennett, died today, Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at her residence.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.
Jimmy Pulliam
Jimmy Lee Pulliam, 43, of Dickson, Tenn., formerly of Kennett, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002.
Born March 23, 1959, in Hayti, Mo., son of Willie Mae Pulliam, of Kennett and the late John W. Pulliam, Sr., he was in the construction business.
Survivors also include three sons, Gabriel Pulliam, of St. Genevieve, Mo. and Tyson and Wesley Pulliam, both of Kennett; two daughters, Jessica Jackson, of Kennett and Nefateria Johnson, of Kansas City, Mo.; five brothers, Robert Pulliam and wife, Evelyn, of Kennett, Lawrence Pulliam and wife, Angela and Dennis Pulliam and wife, Brenda, all of Jacksonville, Fla., Ronnie Pulliam and wife, Karen, of Indianapolis, Ind. and Peter Pulliam and wife, Rita, of Olathe, Kan.; five sisters, Mildred Whitehorn and husband, Earl, Henrietta Wright, Hester Ellis and husband, Nathaniel, Luetta Wright and husband, Theodore and Lillie Blackman and husband, Eddie, all of Kennett and a special friend, Thea Kelly, of Dickson.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Pulliam.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Victory Temple Church of God In Christ in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Victory Temple Chuch of God In Christ with Elder Nathaniel Ellis officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
