Evelyn Robinson

Evelyn Mae Blagg Robinson, 86, of Malden, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at the Malden Nursing Center.

Born Dec. 18, 1915, in Pontotoc, Miss., daughter of the late Willis and Iziora Walls Perry, she was a member of the Word of Life in Holcomb, Mo.

On Dec. 1, 1934, in Pontotoc, she married George Lesley Blagg, who preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1959. She later married Ernest Robinson in 1969 and he preceded her in death in 1979. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Bilbo and Chuck Blagg; one daughter, Dorothy Joyner Cathy; two grandchildren; one brother, Albert Perry; one sister, Annis Plunkett and three great-grandchildren.

Survivors include five sons, G.L. Blagg, of Naylor, Mo., Jack Blagg, of Kennett, Dean Blagg, of Aberdean, Miss., Jerry Blagg, Campbell, Mo. and Rev. Richard Blagg, of Malden; five step-sons, Joe Robinson, of Kennett, Johnny Robinson, of Fairdealing, Mo., Charles Robinson, of Malden, Ernest Dale Robinson, of Mounds, Ill. and Bobby Robinson, of Mounds City, Ill.; four step-daughters, Marie Stadler, of Fairdealing and Arlena Williams, Ammafaye Parsons and Helen Busby, all of Mounds City; two sisters, Christine Newberry, of Memphis, Tenn. and Aline Carr, of Pontotoc and several grandchildren and great-granchildren.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 20, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral servicecs will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Blagg officiating.

Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.

Clint Bowling

Clint Bowling, 28, of Hayti, Mo., died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 in Hayti.

Visitation services were held Saturday, Sept. 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Kennett Memorial Gardens.

Mose Collins

Mose Collins, 69, of Hayti, Mo., died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at his residence.

Born Friday, Sept. 16, 1932, in Helena, Ark., a son of the late Joe Collins Jr. and Beatrice Johnson Collins, he owned a taxi cab stand in Hayti. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.

In 1962 he married Margarette Brooks of Clarksdale, Miss.

Survivors include three sons, Mose Collins, Jr. of Bellflower, Calif., Staff Sgt. Randy Collins of Fort. Irwin, Calif. and Kevin Collins-McIntyre of Hayti; three daughters, Gretta Collins and Teresia Hodge of Long Beach, Calif. and Imogene McNeal of Mounds, Ill.; eight grandsons, Kerry and Jerod McNeal, Moses D., Brian R. and Keenan J. Collins, Isaiah Williams and Charles Q. and Cory R. Hodge; five granddaughters, Tabitha McNeal, Sarina E. Brown, Tasha and Jazmine Collins and Nikeya Shaw.

A memorial service was held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, in Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Elder Mose Collins Jr. officiating.

Lorene Dunaway

Lorene Dunaway, 74, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the Westwood Nursing Home in Poplar Bluff.

Born January 16, 1928 in East Prairie, Mo., daughter of the late Tom Christopher and Cora Lee Brice Brandon. On December 25, 1944 she married James Dunaway, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two sons, Donald and Paul Dunaway, both of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Doris McCord, also of Poplar Bluff; four sisters, Louella Wilson, of Corning, Ark., Mollie Groves of Bragg City, Mo., Kathryn Sprouse of Bragg City and Rosa Lee Owen of Hayti, Mo.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers, John, Philip, Buddy, Dempsy and Tommy Brandon, and one sister, Jewel Brown.

Visitation was held on Friday, Sept. 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.

Freedia Hawkins

Freedia Hawkins, 50, of Kennett, died on Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 at her residence.

Born June 15, 1952 in Cooter, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Beatrice Wellington Quick. On August, 16, 1997 she married Gary Hawkins, who survives of the home.

Survivors include three brothers, Johnny Quick, of Deering, Mo., Jesse Quick of Steele, Mo. and Grant Quick of Tenn; and two sisters, Brenda Dotson of Doniphan, Mo. and Joanna Watson of Iuka, Miss.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Christ Gospel Church in Kennett, with the Rev. Tommy Swift officiating.

Burial will be in the Kennett Memorial Gardens.

Rosa Willis

Rose Lee Willis, 78, of Steele, Mo. and formerly of Kennett, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at River Oaks Nursing Home in Steele.

Born Tuesday, March 25, 1924, in Blytheville, Ark., a daughter of the late Jess and Rosa Morris Strickland, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Rose Lemonds and her husband, Larry, of Kennett, Patricia Fitzgerald and Glenda Willis, both of Memphis, Tenn.; one son, David Willis of Memphis, Tenn. and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Cole and Helen White and one brother, Ermer Strickland.

Visitation is 6 p.m. today, Sunday, Sept. 22, in the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, in the Bradshaw Chapel.

Burial will be in the Elmwood cemetery at Blytheville, Ark.

A.C. Cartwright

Arbrey Clinton Cartwright, 85, of Campbell, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.

Born April 11, 1917, in Manila, Ark., son of the late David Daniel and Hettie Edgline Black Cartwright, he was a farmer and a member of the Bethany General Baptist Church in Campbell.

On Nov, 21, 1938, in Malden, Mo., he married Dathel Loafman, who preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 1992. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Clarrence Cartwright; one sister, Jewel Cartwright and one infant granddaughter.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Bates and husband, Larry, of Bernie, Mo.; one grandson, Bryan Bates, of Dexter, Mo.; one great-grandson, Dustin Bates, of Dexter; one great-granddaughter, Abbie Bates, of Dexter; three brothers, Chalmer A. and Harold L. Cartwright, both of Wildomar, Calif. and Dawsey R. Cartwright, of Selma, Calif. and two sisters, Altha Fitzgerald, of Campbell and Thelma Ward, of Rialto, Calif.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Bethany General Baptist Church in Campbell with the Revs. Bryan Johnson and Harold Cartwright officiating.

Burial will follow at the Bethany cemetery in Campbell.

Patricia DeClue

Patricia DeClue, 44, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at the University Hospital in Columbia, Mo.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Landess Funeral Home of Campbell, Mo.

Wanda Dregman

Wanda Dregman, 77, of Kennett, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Fox officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemtery in Kennett.

Virgil Trainer

Virgil Eugene Trainer, 76, of Kennett, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center.

Born April 24, 1926, in Senath, Mo., he was the son of the late Virgil and Sarah House Trainer.

On Oct. 7, 1944, he married Catherine Moore, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include eight sons, Virgil Lee, Gary Don, Michael, David, Dewayne, Ricky, Mark and Timmy Trainer, all of Kennett; three daughters, Kathy Cannon, Sharon Singleton and Elizabeth Kirby, all of Kennett; one step-brother, Bill Witham, of Kennett; 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Steve Trainer; one brother, Vernon Lee Trainer and one sister, Flossie Baker.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Bob Medlock officiating.

Burial was in the Gregory cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Dennis and Eddie Waller, Bobby Joe Luttrull, Joe Willett, Steve Hightower and Bobby Ragland.

Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Rudd, Robert Chandler and Larry Warren.

Henry Walton

Henry Walton, also known as James Henry Wilburn, 70, of Steele, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at his residence.

Born Feb. 26, 1932, in Newport, Ark., son of the late B.F. and Mararet Sloan Wilburn, he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a law enforcement officer and of the Baptist faith.

In March, 1964, he married Vernita Hearon, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one son, Paul Edward Wilburn, of Las Vegas, Nev.; three step-daughters, Jacquelyne Lucas and Hortense Porchia, both of Las Vegas and Shirley Emmanuel, of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Jonathan Walton and wife, Claudia, of Blytheville, Ark. and Robert L. Wilburn, Sr. and wife, Faye, of Colorado Springs, Colo. and four sisters, Genester Jones and Mary Partee, both of Blytheville, Ida Russell, of Gosnell, Ark. and Emma L. Townsend and husband, Freddie, of St. Louis, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele.

Elmer Barnes, Jr.

Elmer Barnes, Jr., 78, of Sikeston, Mo., died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at his residence.

Born April 17, 1924, in St. Louis, Mo., son of the late E.L. and Etta Mae Elliott Barnes, Sr., he was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WWII, a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a cotton broker and owned and operated his own cotton brokerage company. He was a graduate of Kennett High School.

He married Dorothy J. White, who preceded him in death. In April, 1996, he married Evelyn Struwe, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two sons, Dennis Elliott Barnes, Sr., of St. Louis and Bruce Barnes, of Sikeston; one daughter, Rebecka Marine, of Frederick, Md.; two sisters, Sue Etta Pruitt, of Tupelo, Miss. and Alma Louise Landon, of Angleton, Texas; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Private funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, with Bob E. Dye officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Dennis Barnes, Jr., Tim and Scott Barnes and Jonathan Marine.
