Edna Rose
Edna "Kay" Rose, 61, of Malden, Mo., died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at Three Rivers HealthCare North Campus in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born May 28, 1940, in Chicago, Ill., daughter of the late Albert and Sophia Krygil Russell, she was a beautician and a member of the Grace Regional Fellowship in Malden.
On June 1, 1963, she married
Earl Jackson Rose, who preceded her in death on May 11, 1997.
Survivors include one daughter, Leah Rose, of Malden; two brothers, Harry Russell, of Malden and Paul Russell, of Indiana; two sisters, Mary Hendrix, of Doniphan, Mo. and Dorothy Smith, of Phoenix, Ariz. and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Russell.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Don Pickney officiating.
Burial was in the Rosewood 1st Addition cemetery at Malden.
Herman Christain
Herman Raleigh Christain, 82, of Hornersville, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Nov. 8, 1919, in Hornersville, son of the late Raymond and Oma May Dale Christain, he was U.S. Army veteran, a farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hornersville.
He married
Ruby Pierce, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, Larry Christain, of Kennett; three daughters, Kathy Cain, of Hughes, Ark., Sharon Deck, of Kennett and Brenda Winkle, of Hornersville; one brother, Lonnie Christain, of Hornersville; three sisters, Lessie Dale, of Alton, Mo. and Dean Young and Milva Keating, both of Hornersville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the Bradshaw-Emerson Funeral Home in Hornersville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the First Baptist Church in Hornersville with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Tomezene DePew
Tomezene Robinson DePew, 88, of Malden, Mo., died of acute leukemia on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Visitation will be at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001. Services at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001 at the funeral home with Brother David McElwayne officiating and burial at Memorial Gardens.
She was born Tomezene Edna Rhew on May 1, 1913, the daughter of Lela Pirtle Rhew and James Edward Rhew. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Vester "Buck" Robinson, and her foster son, Jackie Robinson, in 1965. She later married
Donald DePew of Malden, who died in 1999. Her younger brother, Jimmy Rhew, died in 1996.
A bookkeeper and landholder, she owned the old Frisbee Cotton Company. She was an active member of the Church of Christ, first in Holcomb and then in Malden.
Survivors include a foster daughter, Lois James McCain, of Malden and her sons, Dennis James and Kelly James; two step-sons, Bill DePew, of Poplar Bluff, and Ronald DePew, of Springfield; a sister, Ettar Fadler of Louisiana and her children, Judy Fisher, Danny Fadler and Cathy Hodnett; a sister-in-law, Nina Rhew, of Holcomb and her children, Toni Huber and Judge Perry Rhew; and a foster sister, Ruby Venable, of Kennett.
Kenneth Raines
Kenneth L. Raines, 50, of Paragould, Ark., died today, Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.
Evelyn Shelby
Evelyn Shelby, 91, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Bernie and Malden, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at the Westwood Hills Care Center in Poplar Bluff.
Born Sept. 7, 1910, in Earle, Ky., daughter of the late William Jackson and Mary Elizabeth Stanley Arnett, she was a homemaker and a member of the White Oak Grove General Baptist Church in Bernie.
On March 28, 1932, in Vienna, Ill., she married
Homer T. Shelby, who preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1952. Survivors include four sons, Charles Chasteen Gilbert, of Inglis, Fla., Arnett Junior Shelby, of Salem, Mo., James Edward Shelby, of Waterford, Mich. and Herman Dale Shelby, of St. Louis, Mo.; four daughters, Betty Jean Stiles, of Salem, Carolyn Sue Porch, of Poplar Bluff, Marilyn Ruth Scofi, of Ellerslie, Ga. and Sharon Shelby McClure, of Overland Park, Kan.; 60 grandchildren; 35 plus great-grandchildren and 10 plus great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Carl Robert Gilbert; five brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the Rainey Funeral Home Chapel in Bernie with the Rev. Vernon Cooper officiating.
Burial was in the Bernie cemetery.
Pete Small
Pete Small, 83, of Senath, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Lake Jackson, Texas.
Visitation wil be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Helen Allison
Helen Whitlock Allison, 80, of Moore, Okla., formerly of Senath, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Oklahoma City, Okla.
Born Oct. 21, 1921, in Senath, she was the daughter of the late J.T. and Mag Gibson Whitlock.
Survivors include one son, Joe Allison, of Camden, Ohio; one daughter, Joyce Standridge, of Moore; one brother, Jerry Whitlock, of Sacramento, Calif.; one sister, Dee McElwrath, of Kennett; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Buddy Whitlock and Terry Whitlock, Sr.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with the Rev. Joel McMasters officiating.
Burial was in the Lulu cemetery at Senath.
Pallbearers were David and Donnie Standridge, Gary, Glen Allen and Terry Whitlock and David Thompson.
Prince Clark
Prince Ellis Clark, 45, of Kennett, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at his residence. Born March 21, 1956, in Hermandale, Mo., he was the son of the late Ollie and Eula Mae Jackson Clark, Sr.
Survivors include seven brothers, J.C. Clark, of Blytheville, Ark., Andrew L. Clark, of Kansas City, Mo., Sammaul Turner, David and Malaculay Clark, all of Phoenix, Ariz. and Roosevelt and Aaron Clark, both of Kennett; nine sisters, Edna L. Williams, of Denver, Colo., Ollie M. Williams and Dorotha Clark, both of Cleveland, Ohio, Mary and Martha Clark, both of Seattle, Wash., Coraine Adaway, Ova Jean Shaw and Francene and Arlean Clark, all of Kennett.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, K.C. Clark and Ollie Clark, Jr. and two sisters, Annette and Loraine Clark.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Community Temple Church of God in Christ in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Community Temple Church of God in Christ with Elder Luke Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Grove cemetery in Holland, Mo.
Pallbearers are Charlie Adaway, Jr., Marvin Clark, Roy Lee Luvlady, John Adaway, Donnie Clark and K.C. Clark, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers are J.C., Roosevelt, Aaron, Macule, Andrew and David Clark, Sammy Turner and Charlie Adaway, Sr.

Helen Cobb
Helen Merline Cobb, 79, of Gallatin, Tenn., formerly of Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Beverly Health Care at Brandywood in Gallatin.
Born March 5, 1922, in McKenzie, Tenn., daughter of the late Thomas Aubrey and Effye Morris Smith, she was employed at Brown Shoe Company at Caruthersville for over 36 years prior to her retirement and was a member of the Church of God in Caruthersville.
On July 15, 1941, in Caruthersville, she married
Raymond Doan, who preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1945. She later married
Woodrow C. Cobb on Feb. 19, 1946, in Caruthersville. He preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1987.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Snow and Brenda Escue, both of Bethpage, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Lisa Carter and Shonda Hawks, both of Gallatin, Richard E. Snow, of Bethpage and Michelle Hewitt, of Knoxville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother Thomas Smith, Jr. and one sister, Juanita Watkins.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the Church of God in Caruthersville with the Rev. Arthur H. Smith officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Thomas, Dewey Coomer, Larry Carter and Richard E. and Brandon Snow.

Albert Wagoner, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Barnes Hospital - South in St. Louis, Mo.

Evelyn Duncan
Evelyn Marie Duncan, 76, of Rector, Ark., died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.
Born March 7, 1925, in Dardenelle, Ark., daughter of the late Johnny and Myrtle Johnson, she was a factory worker, a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She married
Ruben Duncan, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include six sons, Jess Duncan, of Little Rock, Ark., Billy Joe Duncan, of Benton, Ark., Paul Harvey and Larry James Duncan, both of Ft. Myers, Fla., Michael Lynn Duncan, of Scio, Ore. and a foster son, Ronnie Smisik, of Salem, Ore.; three daughters, Betty Jean McMahon, of Cloverdale, Ore., Mary Frances Holm, of Bend, Ore. and Joan Evelyn McCarty, of Rector; 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Charles Ray Duncan and one brother, Albert Johnson.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 14, at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne McGill officiating.
Burial will follow at the Woodland Heights cemetery in Rector.
Pallbearers are Lee Kersey, Terry and Gary Fields, Curtis Lyles and James and Jimmy Lucy.
