Verlon Green
Verlon Green, 84, of Steele, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Denton, Mo.
Born Feb. 15, 1918, in Denton, son of the late Thomas Newton and Lillie Murray Green, he was a farmer and a member of the First Church of God in Kennett.
On Jan. 5, 1939, in Blytheville, Ark., he married
Christine McCord, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Green, Sr., and wife, Cecilia, of Steele; one daughter, Patricia Ricketts and husband, Bill, of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Angela Carson, of Soddy-Daisy and Dr. Leigh Ann Ricketts, of Knoxville, Tenn.; three grandsons, Jerry Wayne Green, Jr., of Wichita, Kan. and Joseph Lee and Jonathan Dewayne Green, both of Steele and two great-grandchildren, Brittany Frank and Karah Carson, both of Soddy-Daisy.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Keith De Fries and Glyn Davis officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion cemetery in Steele.
Theorthis Lee
Theorthis Lee, 72, of Malden, Mo., died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at his residence.
Born Oct. 25, 1930, in Malden, son of the late Ben and Ida Mae Burnett Lee, he was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea.
In 1954, in Parma, Mo., he married
Classie Dukes, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Theorthis Lee, Jr., of Malden and Marvin DeWayne Lee, of Sierra, Ariz.; nine daughters, Marilyn Allen, of Elkhart, Ind., Deborah Hill, of Essex, Mo. and Mamie Brown, Vera Nix, Ida Mae Jones, Anita Hill, Margaret, Thurmanda and Arlene Lee, all of Malden; one sister, Mae McCoy, of Malden; one step-sister, Debra Green, of Chicago, Ill.; 30 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson and one brother.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Perkins officiating.
Burial with military rites will follow at the Macedonia cemetery in Malden.
Willie Schanda
Rev. Willie Schanda, 89, of Forsyth, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Skaggs Community Health Center in Branson, Mo.
Born Sept. 20, 1913, in Cascade, Mo., son of the late Anton and Annie Lorenz Schanda, he pastored General Baptist Churches in Northeast Arkansas, Southeast Missouri and St. James General Baptist Church in Kirbyville, Mo. He also served as interim minister at New Vision General Baptist church in Taneyville, Mo. and also at Branson General Baptist Church, where he was named Pastor Emeritus.
In Nov. 1938, he married
Mattie Smothers, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Schanda, of Forsyth; five sons, Rev. Royce Schanda and wife, Joanne, of Paragould, Ark., Dr. Ed Schanda and wife, Bonnie, of Forsyth, Rev. Hammons Schanda and wife, Nancy, of Kennett, Eugene Schanda and wife, Mary Fran, of St. Peters, Mo. and Ken Schanda and wife, Roann, of Bolivar, Mo.; one daughter, June Brown and husband, Jerry, of Malden, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, August and Albert.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 24, at the Forsyth Whelchel Funeral Chapel in Forsyth.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the White River Association Building.
Burial will follow at the Ozarks Memorial Park in Branson.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons International Forsyth Camp, the Forsyth Boys and Girls Club or the Dr. Mury King Long Scholarship Fund.
Billie Vierling
Billie Jo Vierling, 37, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at the Ridgeview Nursing Center in Malden.
Born Sept. 4, 1965, in Malden, she was the daughter of the late Louis Leroy and Mary Lorine Tanner Nelson.
Survivors include one daughter, Stacie Marie Harris, of Malden and six sisters, Loretta Elder, Brenda Brown, Linda Carson, Sharon Nunn and Bobbie Jo Duck, all of Malden and Jackie Schafermeyer, of DeSoto, Mo.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Nelson and one sister, Carolyn Brown.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 24, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richie Parker officiating.
Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.
Peggy Abmeyer
Peggy S. Abmeyer, 76, of Kennett, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Nov. 24, 1926, in Kennett, she was a daughter of Roy E. and Maddie Irene Easley Tharp.
On Aug. 29, 1942, in Kennett, she married
Orville Abmeyer who survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Gail Sue Payne of St. Francis, Ark., a daughter-in-law, Donna Abmeyer of Kennett; three sisters, Wanda Miller of Kennett, Gennie Lyle of Winter Haven, Fla. and Judy Maddox of Wappapello, Mo.; six grandchildren, Ronald O. Abmeyer, Jr., Letraonna Kaye Gentry, Lesia Angeliquie Willett, Kimberly Gail Sue Polen, Laticia Machelle Mueller and Ristel D. Payne, II; 13 great-grandchildren, J.J. Ashley, and Hannah Willett, Tyler, Travis and Tanner Gentry, Trey and Lara Lea Abmeyer, Kelsey and Kaycie Polen, Zachary and Makeala Mueller and Ristel Payne, III,
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Brian Johnson officiating.
Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers were Richard Ross, Charles "Tommy" Crawford, Jim Blankenship, Mike Shannon, Jim Dale Crum, Charles "Chuck" Willett, Chase Willett and Brian Smith.
Pearl Barnett
Pearl Barnett of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Arbyrd, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at a nursing home in Nashville.
Visitation is 9 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 27, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Arbryd.
Burial will be in Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Juanita Berry
Juanita Berry, 72, of Gideon, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Adell Dempsey
Adell Divine Dempsey, 87, of Malden, Mo., formerly of Risco, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at the Malden Nursing Center in Malden.
Born Nov. 10, 1915, in McArthur, Ark., a daughter of the late Elmer L. Sr. and Tammie Biggs Bond, she was affiliated with the First Baptist Church.
She married
Carlyle Dempsey who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Ira, Buck, Gilbert and Marvin Bond and one sister, Marie Brown.
Survivors include two daughter, Carlean Bullard, of Malden and Carladell Phillips of Portageville, Mo., a sister-in-law, Inez Bond; two grandsons, Chris and Terry Minderman, both of Malden; a granddaughter, Regina Bullard of Malden; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas Minderman, Dana Minderman and Brandon Cash of St. Louis and Lance Wesley Minderman of Malden, one great-grandchild.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. today, Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Perry Clark officiating . Burial will be in Park cemetery at Malden.
Joseph Hill
Jospeh Lewis "Joe" Hill, 22, of Blytheville, Ark., formerly of Hayti, Mo., died Jan. 19, 2003, at Little Rock, Ark.
Born Nov. 19, 1980, at Hayti, a son of Tommie Joe "Tom" Hill of Blytheville and Wanda Joe Johnson Kinkade of Memphis, Tenn. He attended schools in Hayti and Blytheville and was assistant manager of the End Zone Grill in Blytheville.
Survivors include his father, mother and step-father, John Kinkade; one brother, Jason Hill of Columbia, Mo.; four sisters, Heather Garner of Hayti, Ashley Hollingshead, Tiffany and Megan Hill, all of Blytheville; a step-sister, Brandi Kinkade Gentile of Memphis; a step-brother, Joshua Kinkade of Memphis; grandfather, Bill Johnson of Hernando, Fla., grandmother and step-grandfather, Louise Johnson and Raymond Davis of Portageville.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with the Rev. James Robert Welch officiating.
Burial was in Pemiscot Memorial Gardens cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers will be Randy Copeland, Jeremy Hood, Joe Jackson, John Lewis, Rodney Neville and Mantaegna D'mitri.

Robert L. Hooker, 56, of Farmington, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at Parkland Health Care in Farmington.

Joyce McLain, 68, of Senath, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at her residence.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Senath.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at First Baptist Church in Senath with the Rev. Derek Combs officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.

Pauline Presson, 93, of St. Louis, formerly of Kennett, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at National Health Care in St. Louis.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Jan. 26, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Donna Adams
Donna Sue Adams, 65, of Risco, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at the Missouri Delta Hospital in Sikeston, Mo.
Born Jan. 2, 1938, in Risco, daughter of the late William F. and Minnie Gilbow Warth, she was a member of the Pleasant View General Baptist Church.
In June, 1979, in Risco, she married
Hershel Leroy Adams, who preceded her in death in March, 1988. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Nevel Ornder and Mary Klutts.
Survivors include one brother, William "Bill" Warth and wife, Maxine, of Risco; three sisters, Margaret Williams, of Booneville, Ind., Martha Cook, of St. Charles, Mo. and Bernice Welch and husband, Ray, of Redding, Calif. and 14 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Rowland officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.
