Clifford Dean
Clifford Dean, 83, of Bernie, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.
Born Sept. 27, 1919, in Pocahontas, Ark., son of the late Charles and Minnie Barnes Dean, he was a farmer and of the Pentecostal faith.
On March 1, 1974, in Bernie, he married
Elsie Pearl Palmer, who preceded him in death on March 20, 1996. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Blanche Rasdon.
Survivors include two sons, Carl Dean and wife, Jean and Charles Dean and wife, Gloria, all of Bernie; one daughter, Cloria Vancil and husband, Don, of Bernie; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden, Mo. with the Rev. Leroy Young officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.
Marie Horton
Marie Horton, 82, of Stillman Valley, Mich., formerly of Rector, Ark., died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at her residence.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
John Morris
John H. Morris, 78, of Monette, Ark., formerly of Senath, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Son of the late James Edward and Janie M. Morris, he was a U.S. Army veteran, and a mechanic. He attended Kennett Church of Christ and Monette First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Branum, of Kennett and Faye Owens, of Idabel, Okla.; five grandchildren, LaDon Gramling, Scott and Nick Branum, Candis Fiedler and Tracy Hefner and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Morris and one sister, Edna Mae Lightfoot.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Captain Lovel officiating.
Burial will follow at the Senath cemetery.
Pallbearers are Bill Craig, Gilberto Rojas, Bob, Andy and Stormy Peel and Dewey Boyd.
Honorary pallbearers are Bud Cannon, Sonny Wimberly, Charles Cato, Robert Flannigan, Bob Hout and W.T. Bibb.

Fred Osmer, 80, of Holcomb, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Donna Poole, 60, of Kennett, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Fredia Blevins
Fredia Irene Lasater Blevins, 95, of Little Rock, Ark., died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at Little Rock.
Born Feb. 6, 1908, in Beaver Creek Township, Ill., daughter of the late John Mark and Sylvia Louise Miller Lasater, she was a member of the White Oak Grove General Baptist Church in Bernie, Mo.
On Nov. 25, 1926, in Liberty Township, Mo., she married
Wilbur J. Blevins, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Duncan, Loveta Mahoney, Velva Ruth Blevins and Vera Corlew; three brothers, Leland, Clyde and Elmer Lasater and one grandson, Scott Embrey.
Survivors include one daughter, Wilda Embrey and husband, Seral, of Rio Linda, Calif.; one son, Jay W. Blevins and wife, Jeanette, of Little Rock; two sisters, Jean Lape, of Dexter, Mo. and Faye Jeno, of Malden, Mo.; six grandchildren, Mitchell and Jon Embrey, both of Sacramento, Calif., Becky Ortega, of Stockton, Calif., Michael Blevins, of Fort Smith, Ark., Bruce Blevins, of Little Rock and Joni Terry, of Maumelle, Ark.; 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Pennington officiating.
Burial will follow at the Bernie cemetery.

Donna Poole, 60, of Kennett, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born Nov. 26, 1942, in Piggott, Ark., she was the daughter of Zelbert and Pauline Johnson Sherfield.
On June 17, 1961, in Holcomb, Mo., she married
Jimmie Poole, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Mike Sherfield and wife, Joanna and Steve Poole and wife, Rhonda, all of Kennett; one daughter, Sheila Folkes, of Kennett and eight grandchildren, Mikie Sherfield, Tasha Poole, Misty Folkes, Kara Blansett, Samantha and Jamie Biby, Mionica Houchins and Billy Jack Jackson.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Lynn Blansett; one brother, Sonny Sherfield and one sister, Patricia Davis.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Don Slatton and Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Glenn and Mark Cannon, Ron Smith, John Robertson and Bill Heinen.
Honorary pallbearers were Sylvester Hutson, Mikie Sherfield, Brandon and Shawn Tinnin and Brandon Davis.

Bernice Rowland, 76, of Kennett, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21 at the Abiding Peace Temple Church in Kennett with the Revs. Dennis Collins and Don Slatton officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Garland Parker
Dr. Garland Glenwood Parker, 87, of Poinciana, Fla.orida, died Saturday, February 15, 2003, in Kissimmee, Florida. Born July 12, 1915, in Kennett, Missouri, to Clarence and Onie Stanley Parker, he graduated from Kennett High School and earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1937 and married
Elizabeth Smith, the love of his life. He later earned his Master of Philosophy and Ph.D. in History and Political Science from The University of Wisconsin. He also studied at Tulane University in New Orleans. He was Professor Emeritus of History and Educational Research, having retired from the University of Cincinnati in 1980 as Vice Provost for Admissions and Records and Executive Director of Enrollment Policy and Educational Research. He formerly taught high school in Jackson, Mo., Sikeston, Mo., and The Newman School in New Orleans. Listed in Who's Who in America, he was the author of over 100 scholarly publications including annual reports on American collegiate enrollments and books on the Middle East, where he and Elizabeth lived while he conducted studies of the educational systems in Jordan, Syria and Iraq. He served as President of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and the Ohio Association of Collegiate Registrars. An active member of First United Methodist Church, Kissimmee, he and Elizabeth were co-founders of the Parker-Genesis Sunday School Class. He was formerly active in Westwood United Methodist Church and Mt. Auburn Baptist Church in Cincinnati and Baptist churches in Kennett, Cape Girardeau, Jackson, and Sikeston, Mo., and St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans. He was a member of the American College Testing Program (ACT) Board of Trustees and an ACT Ohio State Representative. He served on the Board of Northern Baptist Seminary Trustees and the Boards of Directors of the YMCA and Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Chairman of National Sigma Phi Epsilon Scholarship Committee, and was recipient of the University of Wisconsin European History Fellowship, Southeast Missouri State University Alumni Merit Award, Sigma Phi Epsilon Career Achievement Award, Sigma Phi Epsilon Order of the Golden Heart, and the Garland G. Parker Achievement Award, Ohio Association of College Registrars.
Dr. Parker was preceded in death by daughter Hope Parker Heiob, brothers Allen Parker and Norman Parker. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Smith Parker of Poinciana, daughter Anne Garland Parker Colter and son-in-law Edward J. Colter of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law Hope Smith Daugherty of Poinciana, nieces Elizabeth Daugherty Woods and Lynn Daugherty Shrewsbury, both of St. Louis, Mo.; nephew Dr. Brett Parker of Stony Brook, NY; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be 7--9 PM Friday and 10 AM-12 Noon Saturday. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Saturday, February 22, 2003 at Grissom Funeral Home, 803 W. Emmett St., Kissimmee, Fla.. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Orlando, Fla..

Aaron Ray Brannon, Sr., 91, of Malden, Mo. died Thursday, Feb. 20, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.
Born Feb. 19, 1912, in Point Pleasant, Mo., he was the son of the late Henry and Alice Trout Bannon and was a farmer.
On Oct. 1, 1932 in Portageville, Mo. he married
Ruby Mae Fox, who preceded him in death on Sept. 10, 1999. He was also preceded in death by one infant son; two sisters, Gertrude McAdoo and Truma Fox and one grandson, Monty Wagner.
He was survived by four sons, Charles Wayne Brannon, of Navaree, Fla., Aaron Brannon, Jr. and Stanley Brannon, both of Parma, Mo. and Gordon Brannon of Broken Arrow, Okla.; five daughters, Joy Elaine Austin of Bloomfield, Mo., Dowanda Murphy of Dexter, Erma Mayo of Blytheville, Ark., Brenda Butler of Greenville, Miss. and Sharon Wagner of Parma; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visistation will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
