Clifford Cossey
Clifford Cossey, 61, of Jackson, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born Nov. 26, 1941, in Peach Orchard, Mo., he was the son of the late Marcus Obie and Lillian Godfrey Cossey.
Survivors include two daughters, Paula Schwerzler and husband, John, of St. Charles, Mo. and Amy Welch and husband, Loko, of Oak Ridge, Mo.; one step-son, Don Cartwright, of Georgetown, S.C.; three brothers, Roy Cossey and wife, Ann, of Gideon, Mo., Hershel Cossey, of Boydsville, Ark. and Deloy Cossey, of Tacoma, Wash. and four grandchildren, Christine Schwerzler, Tyler and Alex St. John and Nathaniel Cartwright.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Garner, Lloyd and James Cossey.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Zack Strong officiating.
Burial ws in the Stanfield cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.
Pallbearers were John Schwerzler, Richard Smith, Don Scheaffer, Rick Blankenship, Holly Dollins and Tommy Miller.
Honorary pallbearers were Tyler St. John and Nathaniel Cartwright. Bill Cowgill
Carl Avery "Bill" Cowgill, 80, of Kennett, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born Oct. 14, 1922, in Rector, Ark., son of the late Leroy and Celesty Violena Nelson Cowgill, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII, a carpenter and of the Missionary Baptist faith.
On Sept. 5, 1944, he married
Mildred Florence Hardy, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three sons, Bobby, Jerry and John Cowgill, all of Kennett; two daughters, Jenellie F. Yarber, of Jonesboro and Elaine J. Cowgill, of Kennett; one brother, Gerald Cowgill, of Kennett; 29 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Carl Wilbert and Billy Cowgill; two daughters, Sue Ann Cowgill and Evelyn D. Wilkerson; three brothers, Doyne, Arel and George Lee Cowgill and three sisters, Oneida Haywood, Ophelia Rogers and Imogene Samuels.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Brother Zack Parr officiating.
Burial was in the Mary's Chapel cemetery near Rector.
Floyd Drew
Floyd H. Drew, 81, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born May 5, 1921, in Rombaur, Mo., son of the late Fred and Molly Stroud Drew, he was employed by the Missouri Division of Employment Security and was the manager of the Caruthersville local office. He was a Mason, he served on the Caruthersville City Council and was a member of the First Christian Church.
On Nov. 18, 1941, in Kennett, he married
Virgie B. Moore, who preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 1996. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include one son, Floyd H. Drew, Jr., of Portageville, Mo.; one daughter, Rosetta D. Wilson, of Bartlesville, Okla.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Steve McFadden officiating.
Burial was in the Mapel cemetery.
Pallbearers were Richard Wilson, Tyler Kimes, Adam and Joshua Young, Gene Tarpley, Chad Wilson, Floyd H. Drew, III and Bill Moore.

Richard Snow
Richard Don Snow, 87, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born June 4, 1915, in Steele, Mo., son of the late Robert Tilman and Frances Linentine Morton Snow, he was in the plumbing business and of the Baptist faith.
On Dec. 31, 1935, in Hayti, Mo., he married
Karnease Dean, who preceded him in death on Nov. 8, 1969. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Alice Ruth Snow; one son, Charles Tillman Snow; one brother and four sisters.
Survivors include four sons, Allen Trout and wife, Peggy, of Garland, Texas, Richard Don Snow and wife, Sandra, of Gallatin, Tenn., Billy Ray Snow and wife, Sharon, of French Village, Mo. and Gary Wayne Snow and wife, Susan, of Blue Springs, Mo.; one daughter, Pamela Sue Gurley and husband, Jerry, of Caruthersville; 12 grandchildren, Vicki Schrimsher, Mark Trout, Richard Edward, Paul Richard and Billy Gene Snow, Lisa Carter, Monique "Nicki" Meadows, Meredith, Jena, Kaitlin and Shelby Charles and Raymond Mytchell Stateler and fifteen great-grandchildren, Mitchell Keen, Kelly and Jessica Smith, Brandon, Heather and Billy Snow, Michael and Ryan Griggs, Misty Meadows, Jonathan, Harold and William Stateler, Lane Quillen and Erika and Bradley Murphy.
Funeral srvices were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Jimmy Johnson officiating.
Burial was in the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Pallbearers were Earl N. Curtis, Danny and Ray Gurley, Richard Van Vickle, Benjamin Hilburn and Billy Castelli.
Honorary pallbearer was Billy G. Snow, Jr.
Leonard Waynick
Leonard Garland Waynick, 68, of Frisbee, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at his residence.
Born Aug. 12, 1934, in Kennett, son of the late James Garland and Francis Dollie Dollens Waynick, he was a U.S. Army and Navy veteran, a laborer and of the Baptist faith.
On June 1, 1981, in Kennett, he married
Martha Blanton, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three brothers, Hoyt Waynick, of Doniphan, Mo., Richard Waynick, of Kempner, Texas and James Waynick, of, Kennett and two sisters, Wanda Gill, of Holcomb, Mo. and Beth Jordan, of Doniphan.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hattie Sweetland and Shirley Watson.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the McCollum cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Lonny Mittag officiating.
Bradshaw Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
Katie Earnhart
Katie L. Earnhart, 92, 0f Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at the Pemisoct Nursing Home in Hayti, Mo.
Born March 3, 1910, in Lake County, Tenn., daughter of the late William Burr and Minnie Jane Shelton Woody, she was a seamstress, a former member of the Caruthrsville Woman's Club and a very active member of the First Baptist Church.
On Aug. 10, 1929, in Blytheville, Ark., she married
Noel E. "Pete" Earnhart, who preceded her in death on April 29, 1999.
Survivors include one daughter, Fran Smith, of Florissant, Mo.; three grandchildren, Laura Smith, of Frontenac, Mo., Linda Thompson, of Chesterfield, Mo. and Leslie Alberts, of Tremont, Ill. and four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Justin, Macy and Michael.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the First Baptist Church with Dr. James Adams officiating. Burial was in the Maple cemetery.
Pallbearers were Olin Parks, Earl Bullington, Lonnie Cagle, Wayne Brantley and Charlie Jones.

Charlie Smith
Charles "Charlie" Smith, Sr., 79, of Hayti, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at the St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born Dec. 4, 1923, in Memphis, Tenn., son of the late Charlie and Beatrice Smith, he owned his own upholstery business in Hayti.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae Smith, of Hayti; two daughters, Beverly Smith and Angela Ruff, both of Hayti; two sons, Charles Smith, Jr., of Caruthersville, Mo. and Perry Smith, of Kennett; two brothers, Blair Smith, of Hayti and Melvin Webb, of Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Zellaner McCullough, of Blytheville, Ark.; eight other children in Los Angele, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Smith, one brother, Jessie "Babe" Smith and one sister, Della Mae Smith. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Hayti with Elder Karl Humes officiating.
Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Antjuan Ruff, Jeffery Richmond, T.J. Shallie, Clifford Peel, Toy Cagle and Robert Baker.
Honorary pallbearers were Ernest Stokes, Billy Ray Hines, Melvin Webb, Robert Burton and Neto George.

Claude Morris
Claude Daniel Morris, 34, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born Sept. 2, 1968, in Holland, Mo., son of the late James O. and John Henry "Johnnie" Hancock Morris, he was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Caruthersville.
On Dec. 2, 1994, in Caruthersville, he married
Sandra Kay Flowers, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Claude Daniel Morris, Jr., of Caruthersville; two daughters, Linda Sue and Ethyl Joy Morris, both of Caruthersville; three brothers, Mickey and Charles Morris, both of Caruthersville and Lindell Joe Miller, of Benton Heights, Mich. and five sisters, Carolyn Burns, of Dyersburg, Tenn., Virginia Morris, of Harrisonville, Mo., Rosie Walker and Renee McMillan, both of Caruthersville and Donna Morris, of Pascola, Mo.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Temple Baptist Church with Mickey Moody officiating.
Burial was in the Maple cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeff and Donald Burns, Marshall W. Rice, DeWayne Moore, Wayne Barham and Scotty Twitty.

Sarah Edna Jones, 77, of Kentucky, formerly of the Bootheel area, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, in Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath, Mo. with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
Marie Tosh
Marie Tosh, 72, of Hayti, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
