Richard Cooksey
Richard Chester Cooksey, 72, of Pollard, Ark., died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at his residence.
Born May 8, 1929, in Tilton, Ark., he was the son of the late Chester and Edna Parl Fore Cooksey.
Survivors include one daughter, Vickie Lack, of Pollard; one son, Russell Cooksey, of Deering, Mo.; one stepson, Dale Gibson; eight brothers and sisters, James, Dorothy, Beulah, Lois, Pat, Betty, Shirley and Janetta; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Ronald Gibson; two brothers, Oris and Lawrence and one sister, Chessie.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Ark.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Gregory cemetery with Dale Rickman officiating.
Heath Dale
Heath Wayne Dale, 23, of Campbell, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at Campbell.
Born March 30, 1978, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., son of Eric Perkins, of Campbell and Christine Dale, of Clarkridge, Ark., he was employed at Red Simpson, Inc. and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two brothers, Scott Dale, of Poplar Bluff and John Perkins, of Campbell; a grandmother, Yvonne Goldsmith, of Campbell; one grandfather, Dale Goldsmith, of Campbell; two nephews, Jonathan and Dylan Perkins, both of Campbell; a grilfriend, Telea Mahan, of Gainesville, Mo.; six aunts and three uncles.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Christine Perkins.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell, Mo. with Rick McCord officiating.
Burial was in the Piggott cemetery at Piggott, Ark.
Thomas Kizer
Thomas Kizer, 85, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at the Ridgeview Nursing Home in Malden, Mo.
Graveside services are tentatively being set for Thursday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Parma, Mo. in charge of arrangements. James Mason, veteran
James Eugene Mason, 60, of Bernie, Mo., died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at John J. Pershing Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born Aug. 13, 1941, in Bernie, son of the late Lawrence Eugene and Edith Opal Fields Mason, he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving in the Vietnam era and was owner/operator of Mason's TV Service in Bernie.
Survivors include one son, James Michael Mason, of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Kelly Marie Lynn Mason, of Dexter, Mo.; two brothers, Jim Mason, of Bernie and L.C. Mason, of Powe, Mo. and six sisters, Mildred Hampton, of Poplar Bluff, Eva Tipton and Anglie Barnes, both of Bernie, Alma Pospeshell, of Lipan, Texas, Wilma Burch, of Wappapello, Mo. and Linda Ann O'Daniel, of Bloomfield, Mo.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Nina Hartle.
Funeral servics were held at 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Rainey Funeral Home Chapel in Bernie with Rev. Joe Masters officiating.
Burial was in the Bernie cemetery.
Charlene Solomon
Charlene F. Solomon, 69, of St. Louis, Mo., died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis.
Born in Danville, Ark., daughter of the late Johnny James and Lillie Mae Coffer, she was a data processor.
Survivors include three children, Bruce Hopper, Kelley Marlow and Jon Solomon; five grandchildren, Beth Snow, Christina and Julia Hopper, Stafford Farris and Michael Marlow; four brothers, Bob, Floyd, George and Jim Coffer and two sisters, Para Lee White and Betty Austin.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at the Kutis Funeral Home Affton Chapel in St. Louis.
Burial was at the St. Paul Churchyard.
Thomas Kizer
Thomas F. Kizer, 85, of Risco, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at the Ridgeview Nursing Home in Malden, Mo.
Born Dec. 28, 1915, in Ballard County, Ken., son of the late James and Allie Clark Kizer, he was a retired farmer.
On Oct. 7, 1939, in Piggott, Ark., he married
Laura mae Cato, who preceded him in death on Feb. 15, 1987.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Kizer and wife, Betty, of Clovis, N.M. and Thomas Kizer and wife, Laurette, of Farmington Hills, Mich; three grandchildren, Chip Kizer, of Albuguerque, N.M., Laura Darzzeo, of Roswell, N.M. and Lisa Steinle, of Clovis, N.M. and seven great-grandchildren, Amanda, Sarah, Julia, Rachael, Heather, Holly and Alex.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Parma, Mo. with Bro. Howard Brooks officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Me morial Park cemetery in Malden.
Cecil Beaird
Cecil "Dude" Beaird, 90, of Kennet, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Sept. 18, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Beaird officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Dale Crockett
Dale Crockett, 82, of Deering, Mo., died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.
Born Aug. 19, 1919, in Hayti, Mo., son of the late Ernest Charles and Maggie Jane Droke Crockett, he was a U.S. Marine veteran serving in WWII and a member of the Bakerville Church of Christ.
On Nov. 20, 1945, in Caruthersville, Mo., he married
Juanita Baxter, who preceded him in death on Sept. 14, 1997.
Survivors include five daughters, Monita Neal, of Southaven, Miss., Marta Brumley, of Bowling Green, Ken., Rhonda Holmes, of Kingston Springs, Tenn., Denise Edwards, of Batesville, Ark. and Janice Jeffers Keys, of Steele, Mo.; one sister, Mary Munoz, of Blythe, Calif.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Melvin and Vernel Crockett.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with James Powell officiating. Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were the Charles M. Cable Detachment Marine Corps League.
Charles Deprow
Charles "Doodle" Deprow, 62, of Tallapoosa, Mo., died today, Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at his residence.

Lettie Dodson
Lettie Mae Dodson, 80, of Hayti, Mo., died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at Jonesboro, Ark.
Born Oct. 14, 1920, in Greene Co., Ark., daughter of the late Lonnie and Bertha Slatton Roswell, she was a cook for Hayti School until her retirement and a member of the Hayti Church of Christ.
On July 31, 1937, in Paragould, ark., she married
Leonard Dodson, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two daughters, Bonnie Sue Hartsell, of Jonesboro and Sandra Jo Upton and husband, Herbert, of Harvest, Ala.; three sons, Bobby Dodson and wife, Mae, of Phoenix, Ariz., Terry Dodson and wife, Carla, of Hopkinsville, Ken. and Jerry Dodson and wife, Patti, of Jonesboro; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, E.L. Hartsell; two brothers, Cyde and Otis Roswell and two sisters, Bertha Hutins and Ollie Cross. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Hayti Church of Christ with Jimmy Young and Mark Wilson officiating.
Burial was in the Center Hil cemetery west of Paragould. Pallbearers were Vernon Dobbins, Mike Garner, Dale Adams, Randy Ralston, Steve Garner and Martin Ray.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
Earl Donahue
Earl Donahue, 89, of Kennett, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born March 9, 1912, in Rector, Ark., he was the son of the late John Thomas and Emma Hedge Donahue.
On Oct. 3, 1930, he married
Ruby Prince, who preceded him in death on Jan. 23, 1975.
Survivors include three daughters, Bernice Sturgill, of Ypsilanti, Mich., Alice Steelman, of Crandall, Ga. and Judy James, of Hayti, Mo.; a special nephew, Clyde Fisher and wife, Thelma; a special friend, Addie Marlin; 21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five daughters, Edna Kay Donahue, Patricia Edwards, Debbie Donahue, and Barbara and Wanda Howe; three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Rev. Tim Steelman officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers were Jerry Howe, Frank Strugill, Robert, Lynn and Tim Steelman and Chuck Bice.
Roy Duke
Roy Duke, 61, of Doniphan, Mo., formerly of Senath, Mo., died today, Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath.
Betty Garrett
Betty Lou Garrett, 72, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at her residence.
Born Dec. 16, 1928, in Steele, Mo., she was a former legal secretary for Ward & Reeves attorneys in Caruthersville, a former president of the Womens Organization of the Caruthersville Country Club and was a member of the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church in Caruthersville. On July 19, 1959, in Caruthersville, she married
Robert Garrett, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one aunt, Mable Moore, of Blytheville, Ark and two sisters-in-law, Delma Kerley, of Caruthersville and Velma Rollins, of Steele.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church in Caruthersville with Revs. Dwight Chapman and Dave Lewelling officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie cemetery in Caruthersville. Pallbearers were Steve Watkins, Jack Grantham, Earl Bullington, Gary Gill, Larry Thrasher and Billy McCullough. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Hardy, Ray Hillard, Bill Simmons and Dan Burge.
