George Harris

George Paul Harris, 67, of Senath, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003 in Senath.
Born on February 22, 1936 in Jonesboro, Ark., the son of the late Paul Harris and Mavis Krone Harris of Senath. He was a Certified Public Accountant and farmer. He was Manager and President of Farmers Union Gin and Warehouse Co. and a member of the Board of Directors of Kennett National Bank, Crowley's Ridge College and Cotton, Inc. He served as an elder of the Senath Church of Christ and was on the Board of directors and former president of the Cotton Producers of Missouri. He was instrumental in establishing the Senath-Hornersville Educational Foundation to provide scholarships for SHHS students and served that organization as treasurer.
On September 10, 1958 he married
Rebecca Carver, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Greg Harris and wife, Missy of Kennett, and Steve Harris and wife Sherri of Senath; and eight grandchildren, Paul, Payte, Tyler and Austin Harris and Chelsea, Anna Beth, Laura and Kate White.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, at the Church of Christ in Senath with Art Smith and Greg Pollock officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens in Kennett.

Margaret Fiddler

Margaret Bassham Fiddler, 88, of Kennett died, Friday, Nov. 7, 2003 at the Heritage Nursing Home in Kennett.
Born on Oct. 31, 1915 in Rector, Ark., a daughter of the late John and Ethel Reed Bassham, she was a restaurant owner and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hornersville.
On May 12, 1931 she married
Herman Fiddler, who preceded her in death in 1979.
Survivors include one daughter, Bertha Tidwell of Hornersville; one granddaughter, Helen Montiel of Hornersville; two grandsons, Tim and Jeff Tidwell, both of Hornersville; one sister, Helen Thompson, of Fostoria, Mich.; and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, one sister and two brothers.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 11 at the First Baptist Church in Hornersville with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
Burial was in the Horner cemetery in Hornersville.
Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett was in charge of services.
Dessie Ethridge

Dessie Lee Ethridge, 67, of Hornersville, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003 at her residence.
Born on April 12, 1936 in Hornersville, a daughter of the late Howard and Francis Mogers Pate, she was a nurses aid and a member of the Baptist Church in Hornersville.
On March 8, 1954 in Kennett, she married
Charles A. Ethridge, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include one son, Steve Ethridge of Beebe, Ark.; one daughter, Debra Whitlock of Senath, Mo.; three sisters, Dorothy Grimsley of Wauchula, Fla., Diann Johnson, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Waynoma Fort of Paducah, Ky.; four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10 at the Hornersville Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
Burial was in the Horner cemetery in Hornersville.
Vine Lee Devine

Vine Lee Barr Devine, 80, of Hayti, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003 at the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born on Nov. 22, 1922 in Kennett, Mo., a daughter of the late Robert Lee Williams and Kate Garrett Neva, she was a housewife.
In 1936 she married
Ester Barr, who preceded her in death in 1974, she then married
Bill Lester, who preceded her in death in 1983, then she married
Floyd Devine, who preceded her in death in 1987.
Survivors include, one son, Richard Barr, of Daytona Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Neva Butcher, of Fort Meyers, Fla.; one brother, Thomas J. Williams of Kennett; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Larry Barr; two brothers, Bill Southern and Robert Roland Williams and one sister, Gwendola Lock.
Visitation will be held at 6:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 11 at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Hayti.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Hayti, with Rev. Bobby Quinn officiating.
Burial will be in the Woodlawn cemetery in Hayti.
Joe Coppage

Joe Bob Coppage, 88, of Braggadocio, Mo., died on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Osceola, Ark.
Born on July 3, 1915 in Braggadocio, a son of the late Earl M. and Dorothy Collins Coppage, he was in farming and other agricultural related business interests and a member of the Braggadocio Baptist Church.
On April 19, 1934 in Luxora, Ark., he married
Marie Long, who preceded him in death in 1997.
Survivors include three daughters, Jo Ree King and Beth C. Stone, both of Memphis, Tenn., and Kaye McKaskle of Braggadocio, Mo.; six grandchildren, Edward M. King IV, Joe Bob King, Clifton Stone, Marie Coppage Stone and Anne Marie Goad, all of Memphis, Tenn., and Emily Ellis of Blytheville, Ark.; five great grandchildren, Stephen Ellis, Coppage Ellis, and Clinton Ellis, all of Blytheville, Ark., and Tyler Goad and Edward M. King, both of Memphis, Tenn.; and one sister, Dorothy Long of Braggadocio.
Private graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 7 at the Little Prairie cemetery in Caruthersville, Mo., with Rev. Dr. Paul Currie officiating.
The H.S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
Larry Christain

Larry Herman Christain, 49, of Kennett, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003 at his residence.
Born on July 2, 1954 in Kennett, a son of the late Herman Raliegh and Ruby Inez Pierce Christain, he worked as a cable technician and was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Kennett.
On Sept. 16, 1977 he married
Marian Chailland, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include one son, Daniel Christain of Springfield, Mo.; and three sisters, Kathy Cain and Brenda Winkle, both of Hornersville and Sharon Deck of Kennett.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday Nov. 10, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home with Rev. James Lewis officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens in Kennett.
Pallbearers were Dustin Pritchett, Noel Billings, Michael Harmon, Zack LaRock, Chase Huffstutler, Bub Allgood, Benny Counts and Blake Jamison.
Mary Jo Bishop

Mary Lou Bishop, 57, of Munford, Tenn., formerly of Hayti, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003.
Born on Dec. 2, 1945 in Bogota, Tenn., a daughter of the late Eddie Sigmund and Allie Juanita Denton Pierce, she was a former school teacher and member of the First Baptist Church of Hayti.
On August 3, 1974 in Hayti, she married
Harrell Robert Bishop, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include, two daughters, Jennifer Lynn and Nancy Jane Bishop, both of Munford, Tenn.; one grandson, Evan Scott Bishop, of Munford, Tenn.; one brother, Eddie S. Pierce, Jr., of Hayti and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 7 in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville, Mo., with the Rev. Eddie Roden officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie cemetery in Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were, Donald G. Bishop, Ron Birmingham, and John Taylor.
Sadonna Youngblood

Sadonna Ann Youngblood, 42, of Marston, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at Hayti, Mo.
Born Jan. 16, 1961, in Hayti, daughter of the late Neilus Ray and Donna Sue Pattillo Melton, she was a homemaker and member of the Refuge Worship Center.
She married
Dale Youngblood, who survives.
Survivors also include one son, Mickey Lee Camden, of Las Vegas, Nev, one daughter, Mary Martha Nolen,of Portageville, Mo., three brothers, Ernie Melton and Sanford Pattillo, both of Sikeston, Mo. and Steve Morris, of Kentucky and a grandmother, Mildren Pattillo, of Portageville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with the Rev. Charlie Thacker officiating.
Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Morris, Billy Joe Wheeler, Chris Pattillo, Will Ervin, John Ginther and Jimmy Pattillo.
Fr. William Thro

Father William P. Thro, SJ, 83, a former resident of Dunklin County, died Oct. 27, 2003.
Born at St. Charles, Mo. he entered the Jesuit order in 1939 at St. Stanislaus Seminary in Florissant, Mo. He made his first vows in 1941 and was ordained a priest in 1952. He received a bachelor's degree in Latin from St. Louis University.
From 1954 to 1958 he served as minister at St. Stanislaus Seminary from 1958 to 1976. From 1958 to 1976 he worked as a missionary in Belize, South America. He served as a minister and pastor at parishes there from 1979 to 1990.
From 1991 to 1996, Fr. Thro was pastor of St. Teresa Parish at Glennonville, Mo. From 1997 until his death he worked as a pastoral minister in the Diocese of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Fr. Thro was the last surviving brother of the four Thro brothers who were members of the Jesuits of the Missouri Province. Preceding him in death within the past five years were Fathers Edward A., Linus J. and Thomas F. Thro, and their brother Robert L. Thro.
Burial was at Mount Olivet cemetery in Denver.
Eleanor Ferguson

Eleanor Ferguson, 74, of Malden, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Ark.
Born Oct. 19, 1929, in Malden, daughter of the late Russell and Edith Nelson Ferguson, she was a private secretary for an investment firm, and a member of the United Methodist Church in Malden.
Survivors include eight cousins, Marge Okal and Robert Nelson, both of Flint, Mich., Marilyn Williamson, of Amelia Island, Fla., Margaret Matthiesen, of Washington, Mo., Judie Noyes, of Pekin, Ill, Claud L. Foster and Laura Ann Foster, both of Campbell, Mo. and Connie Kiser of Gallatin, Tenn.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bill Jackson and Frank Noyes officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park cemetery at Malden.
