John Hartwell, Sr., veteran
John William Hartwell, Sr., 90, of Campbell, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, at the V.A. Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.
Born July 31, 1911, in Hayti, Mo., son of the late James Alexander and Sarah Wigington Hartwell, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII, served as Campus Police at the St. louis University in St. Louis, Mo. until his retirement, a member of the Four Mile Masonic Lodge of Campbell and he attended the Beechwell General Baptist Church in Campbell.
On July 24, 1951, in Piggott, Ark., he married
Gladys C. Crutchfield, who preceded him in death on Jan. 23, 1990. Survivors include three sons, John William Hartwell II, of Florissant, Mo., James Douglas Hartwell, of Ferguson, Mo. and Robert Manley Hartwell, of Spanish Lake, Mo.; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one brother, Gerorge Hudson Hartwell, of Thayer, Mo.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 31, at the Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Rainey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Schlager officiating.
Burial will follow at the Bernie cemetery.
MeDina Lynn
MeDina Lynn, 44, of Campbell, Mo., died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, at her residence.
Born March 23, 1957, in Hayti, Mo., daughter of Millidean Womack Pruitt, of Malden, Mo. and the late Carol Miller, she a member of the South Canaan General Baptist Church, co-commissioner of the Campbell Little League and a salesperson for Home Interior.
On April 15, 1985, in Campbell, she married
Daniel Lynn, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include her step-father, Bill Pruitt, of Malden; five children, Danielle, Dylan and Dustin Lynn, all of Campbell and Kyle and Kyleigh James, both of Campbell; her grandfather, Clarence Miller, of Wardell, Mo.; two sisters, Patty Harris, of Malden and Alicia Rushing, of Rogers, Ark. and one brother, Wade Miller, of Marshall, Mo. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 31, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Morris and Randall Baker officiating.
Burial will follow at the Woodlawn cemetery-Landess Addition in Campbell.

Jo Ann Ricketts
Jo Ann Ricketts, 92, of Steele, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville, Ark. Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Bradshaw Funeral Home of Steele. Louis Riggs, veteran Louis Riggs, 87, of Kennett, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett. Born Jan. 29, 1914, in Kennett, son of the late Adolphus and Annie Adelie McHaney Riggs, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp serving in WWII.
On Jan. 29, 1942, he married
Opal Mae Robertson, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, Louis G. Riggs, Jr. and wife, Nena, of Rector, Ark.; one grandchild, Jimmy Wayne Riggs, of Springfield, Mo.; one nephew, two great-nephews and one great-niece.
He was preceded in death by one brother A.M. Riggs and one sister in infancy.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 31, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Rev. Paul Lanning officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett. Pallbearers were Joe Woodard, Tony Cannon, Dale Burnett, John Southern, Ronnie Morgan and John Grady.
Honorary pallbearers were U.L. Smith, Jimmy Akers, Bill Monroe and Bill Grogan.
Lizzie Venters
Lizzie Ellen Venters, 88, of Kennett, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 31, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Bartholomew officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Ester Waller
Ester "MAW MAW" Waller, 87, of Steele, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Born Nov. 29, 1913, in Bogota, Tenn., daughter of the late Jesse Dabbs and Sarah Fanny Marshall Waller, she was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.
She was married
to Charlie Erwin Waller, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Charles "June" Waller and wife, Sylvia, of Phoenix, Ariz. and Dr. Tony Waller and wife, Marilyn, of Ada, Okla.; one daughter, Frances Bishop and husband, Merlyn, of Steele and one step-son, Bruce Waller and wife, Rachel, of Phoenix.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Steele with John Mundy officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion cemetery in Steele.
Richard Bell
Richard McLellan Bell, 70, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at the VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.
Born Oct. 4, 1931, in Providence, R.I., son of the late Richard E. and Helen E, McLellan Bell, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in Korea, an auto sales manager, and of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the Malden American Legion Post No. 293 and the V.F.W. and served on the Board of the Dunklin County R.S.V.P.
On May 21, 1955, he married
Joanne Lefebvre, who preceded him in death in 1989. He later married
Gayle West Jaissle on June 22, 1991, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include four sons, Richard E. Bell and wife, Kathleen, of Kingston, N.Y., Robert Bell and wife, Dawn, of Bethel, Conn., Roy Bell, of Highland, N.Y. and Ryan Bell, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three daughters, Tracey Sciortino and husband, Robert, of Highland, Vicki Haywood and husband, Wayne, of Malden and Debbie Kurland and husband, David, of Clearwater, Fla.; one sister, Glenna Cowherd, of Pinehurst, N.C.; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Elder cemetery in Campbell, Mo.
Jose Gonzalez
Jose Gonzalez, 37, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Hornersville, Mo.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church with the Rev. Henry Grodecki and Sister Carol Prenger officiating.
Burial will follow at the Horner cemetery in Hornersville.
David Ivy
David Keith Ivy, 37, of Kennett, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Born Nov. 1, 1963, in Kennett, he was the son of Jerry Wayne Ivy and Phyllis Stone Jackson, both of Kennett.
Survivors include his parents, Jerry Wayne Ivy and wife, Linda and Phyllis Jackson and husband, Benny, all of Kennett; two sons, Cody Ivy, and Chris Bowen, both of Kennett; one daughter, Cheyenne Ivy, of Kennett; his grandmother, Pauline Stone, of Kennett; two brothers, Scott Ivy and wife, Kim and Michael Ivy and wife, Deborah, all of Kennett; four step-brothers, Don, Dave and Terry Jackson and Kevin Scott; four sisters, Toni Ivy, of Pass Christian, Miss., Shawn Wood and husband, Mitch, of Oran, Mo., Lisa Ivy, of Kennett and Chris Orr, of St. Louis and two step-sisters, Sherry Landis and Shelly Stevens.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Don Emery and Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers were Jeff, Kyle and Timmy Stone, Bruce Burr, Mark Mathis and Steve Fuller.
Honorary pallbearers were Anthony Glover, Keith Tucker, Ken Cuff, Mark Parrent, Gaylon Anderson and Darin Isbell.
Mary Killingsworth
Mary Killingsworth, 86, of Kennett, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born March 27, 1915, in Risco, Mo., daughter of the late Homer C. and Lillie Pauline Page Terry, she was a homemaker and a member of the First General Baptist Church in Kennett.
On June 18, 1938, she married
Roy W. Killingsworth, who preceded her in death on June 12, 1985.
Survivors include one son Bill Beck, of Homosassa, Fla.; three grandchildren, Mike Beck, of Ocean Beach, Ala., Scott Beck, of Malden, Mo. and Terry Niederkorn, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; one great-granddaughter, Lori Coomer Veazey, of Morrilton, Ark.; two brothers, Junior Terry, of Branson, Mo. and Ernest Terry, of St. Charles, Mo. and one sister, Evelyn Johnson, of Alton, Mo.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Gary Gelsinger officiating.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
Pearl Rogers
Pearl Lucille Rogers, 90, of Jasper Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood, Mo.
Born Jan. 23, 1911, in Jasper County, Mo., daughter of the late Oscar G. and Emma J. Keener Schell, she was a manager for a dry cleaning business for many years, a nurse's aide, and a Red Cross volunteer. She was a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Jasper, Community of Christ Church in Lamar, Mo., First Baptist Church Quilting Group and active in the Women's Garden Club of Jasper.
She married
Albert Cobb and Harry W. Rogers, who both preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Wilbur Cobb, of Greenfield, Mo.; six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jared Cobb.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Weng Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper.
Burial was in the Fairview cemetery at Fayetteville, Ark.
Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or the Missouri Conservation Department.
Goldie Anderson
Goldie B. Anderson, 85, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis.
Born May 11, 1916, in Kennett, Mo., she was a homemaker.
In June, 1938, she married
Vernon H. Anderson, Sr., who preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Vernon Anderson, Jr. and Charles Anderson; three daughters, Glenda Katzenberger, Beatrice Williford and Linda Elaine Norman; five sisters, Ester Chapin, Margie Jackson, Lucy Brooks and Virginia Davis, all of Kennett and Murlie Jackson, of Michigan; one brother, Chester Fox, of Kennett; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 2, at the Hoffmeister South County Chapel in St. Louis.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Hoffmeister South County Chapel in St. Louis.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope cemetery in Lemay, Mo.
Bessie Blaylock
Bessie Lee Blaylock, 90, of Campbell, Mo., died today, Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Arkadelphia, Ark.
