Ella Gooch
Ella Louise Gooch, 65, of Pacific, Mo. and formerly of Cardwell, died Thursday, Jan. 10, at Pacific Health Care Center.
The daughter of the late Harrison and Bertha Gooch, she was a member of the Calvary Full Gospel Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Lewis Gooch of St. Petersburg, Fla. and John Gooch of O'Fallon, Mo. and two sisters, Juanita Shatley of Eureka, Mo. and Lucille Barlow of Troy, Mo.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, in the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville, Ark.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, in the Howard Chapel with the Rev. Leland Dement officiating.
Burial will be in the Cardwell cemetery.
Lucille James
Lucille Delores James, 62, of Piedmont, Mo. and formerly of Malden, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff.
Born April 7, 1939, in Kansas City, Missouri, daughter of the late Ralph Lee and Mary Ethel Lampton Hillman, she was employed at Federal Mogul before retirement.
On Dec. 19, 1959, in Gideon, she married
J.B. James, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Diane Jordan of Clarkton; a son, Jay Anthony James of Alvin, Texas; a brother, Ralph Hillman of Clarkton; a sister, Esther Hillman of Piedmont; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two brothers William Lee and Richard Lee Hillman.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 11, in the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, in the Bradshaw Chapel with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.
Burial will be in Rosewood cemetery at Malden.
Dorothy Sanders
Dorothy Sanders, 86, of Mountain View, Ark., died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Stone County Skilled Nursing Center in Mountain View.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 11, in the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Senath.
Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. today in the McDaniel Chapel with the Rev. Derek Combs officiating.
Burial will be in Cardwell cemetery at Cardwell.
Lloyd Street
Lloyd "Butch" Street, 53, of Judsonia, Ark., died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001
Born April 22, 1948, in Hornersville, son of the late Loran and Ollie Mae Oliver Street, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of Vietnam. He was a mechanic and farmer worker and attended the Dripping Springs Assembly of God Church.
He married
Wanda Smith who survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Lloyd Street, Jr. and his wife, Tracy and Christopher Street all of Judsonia; two brothers, Donnie Street of Judsonia and Mike Street of Kennett; two sisters, Glenda Matheny and Norma Statler, both of Kennett and a grandson, Chase Street of Judsonia.
He was preceded in death of two brothers, Anthony "Bub" Street and James Street.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, in the Dripping Springs Assembly of God Church with Douglas Goode and Lavone Piker officiating.
Burial with military honors followed in the Providence cemetery under direction of Powell Funeral Home of Judsonia.
Pallbearers were Floyd Passmore, Grover Jackson, Donnie Davis, William Cleveland, Jerry Passmore, Paul Jackson and Kevin Cleveland.
Ivel Matney
Ivel Matney, 90, of Arbyrd, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Visitation is begins at 6 p.m. today, Sunday, Jan. 13, in the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Senath.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, in the McDaniel Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Purser officiating.
Burial will be in Shiloh cemetery at Paragould, Ark.
Barney Miller
Barney Miller, 81, of Dexter, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at his home.
Born July 14, 1920, at Lutesville, Mo., son of the late Robert Emmett and Elizabeth Trotter Miller, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, former owner and publisher of the Daily Statesman in Dexter, a member of the Missouri Press Association, past president of Southeast Missouri Press Association, a 1998 inductee in the Missouri Newspaper Hall of Fame, a member of the Dexter Kiwanis Club, past president of Dexter Chamber of Commerce, former Elks Citizen of the Year, former member of Dexter Zoning Commission, former Dexter Library Board member and a volunteer literacy tutor at Mingo Job Corps.
On June 6, 1942, at Rolla, Mo. he married
Marie Braidlow who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one son, John Miller; three brothers, Paul, Richard and Arthur Trotter and a sister, Rebeccah Erickson.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Miller of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. and Joe Miller of Jonesboro, Ill; one daughter, Annabeth Miller of Dexter, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today, Sunday, Jan. 13, from 5 p.m.. to 8 p.m. at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Dexter wit the Rev. Fred Leist officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dexter cemetery.
Dorothy Sanders
Dorothy Marie Sanders, 86, of Mountain View, Ark., died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Stone County Skilled Nursing Center in Mountain View.
Born Nov. 2, 1915, in Rector, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Jessie C. and Bertha Yates Walker.
She married
Albert Sanders who preceded her in death in June 1980.
Survivors include two sons, Billy H. Sanders and his wife, Gerrie, of Las Vegas, Nev. and Jimmie Sanders and his wife, Wanda, of Mountain View; one daughter, Sandra Peck and her husband, John, of LaLeer, Mich.; seven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Johnny Calvin Sanders.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, in the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Senath with the Rev. Derek Combs officiating.
Burial was in Cardwell cemetery at Cardwell.
Family members served as pallbearers: Paul Szewczyk, Michael McCarthy, Neal Sanders, Tony Shoemaker, Jerry Baugh and Aaron Sanders.
James Sexton
James Kent Sexton, 60, of Kennett, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at his residence.
Visitation is today, Sunday, Jan. 13, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett.
Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
A memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Presbyterian Church in Kennett with the Rev. Gary Mayes officiating.
Queen Townsend
Queen Townsend, 88, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.
Born Dec. 4, 1913, in White County, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Marion and Daisy Gilliam Ross.
Survivors include five sons, Jimmy Townsend and Lee Jameson, both of Paragould, George Jameson of Arbyrd, John Jameson of Cabot, Ark., and Jack Richardson of Davis, Ill.; one daughter, Earline M. O'Dell of Senath; a brother, Dan Ross of Kensett, Ark.; a sister, Josephine Davie of Griffithville, Ark.; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and 11 great-great step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sons, a brother, two sisters and a grandchild.
Jerry Lee Wallace
Jerry Lee Wallace, 57, of Dickson, Tenn., died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at the Veterans Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Wallace of the home; a son Brett Wallace of Columbus, Ohio; three daughters, Michelle White and Tricia and Tara Wallace, all of Columbus, a brother Henry "Curtis" Wallace of Frederick, Md.; a sister, Shelby Rebstock of Kennett and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, Sunday, Jan. 13, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Dickson Funeral Home Chapel in Dickson.
Funeral services will be Monday, Jan., in the First Baptist Church of Dickson with Dr. Jim Chatham officiating.
Burial will be in the Veterans cemetery.
Doris Adams
Doris Mae Abernathy Adams, 63, of Malden, Mo., died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Crowley Ridge Nursing Center in Dexter, Mo.
Born June 17, 1938, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., daughter of Sara Wilson Carl, of Harviell, Mo. and the late Charley Carl, she was a member of the Voice of Zion Church in Malden.
Survivors include two daughters, Vera Abernathy and Brenda Goodman, both of Malden; two sons, John Thomas and Clifton Dale Abernathy, both of Malden; three sisters, Lois Cross, of Dexter and Virginia Gray and Vivian Crosby, both of Poplar Bluff; two half-brothers, Billy Thurston, of Poplar Bluff and Robert Thurston, of Harviell; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Vernon Edward and Marvin Carl.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Karen Odom officiating.
Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.

James Baker, 61, of Malden, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at his residence.
