Burl Crawford

Thurman Burl Crawford, 83, of Hornersville, Mo., died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Born Oct. 21, 1918, in Trenton, Tenn., son of the late Thomas and Nora Hicks Crawford, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hornersville.

On Jan. 20, 1945, in Paragould, Ark., married Margaret Nail Crawford, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one daughter, Rhonda Poole, of Kennett; two grandchildren, Jamie Biby, of Hornersville and Samantha Biby, of Kennett; one sister, Ann Jones, of Fair Grove, Mo. and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, Elmo, Thomas and Earl Crawford.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 30, at the First Baptist Church in Hornersville with Rev. Doug Clinton officiating. Burial was in the Horner cemetery in Hornersville.

Pallbearers were Jamie Biby, Mike James, Larry Sparrow, Stephen Springer, Jerry Branum and Dick Norman.

Honorary pallbearers were members of his Sunday school class.

Bradshaw Funeral Home of Hornersville, was in charge of arrangements.

Doyle Horne

Doyle Wayne Horne, 70, died Friday, April 26, 2002, at the Sells Rest Home in Matthews, Mo.

Born Aug. 31, 1931, in Bucoda, Mo., son of the late Thomas Elvin and Grace Alice Lemons and he was a U.S. Navy veteran.

On Aug. 5, 1950, in Cardwell, Mo., he married Roberta Lancaster, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, David Horne and wife, Angie, of McAlester, Okla. and Randy Horne and wife Susan, of Sikeston, Mo.; one daughter, Laura Meyer and husband, Stephen, of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Staci, Robann and Sam Meyer, Keith, Taylor and Rebeca Horne, Jill Gillam and Ryan Hall and one sister, Jeanie Small, of Hernando, Miss.

Graveside services were held at 12 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 30, at the Cardwell cemetery with the Rev. Derek Combs officiating.

Earl Loyd

Earl Loyd, 85, of Kennett, formerly of Portageville, Mo. and Memphis, Tenn., joined his Heavenly Father Friday, April 26, 2002.

Son of the late Alfred and Mary Limbaugh Loyd. Earl was bron Feb. 17, 1917, and was married to Ruby Walpole, May 7, 1941. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII, was employed as a mechanic for more than 40 years and retired in 1983. Earl attended the Emerson Street Church of God, where he served as a Usher for many years until his surgery in Feb., he met with his "coffee buddies" daily. ("The comfort of having a friend may be taken away but not that of having one.")

Earl was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ernest.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby, three children, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Karion and Tom Noah, of Kennett, Todd and Marsha Noah, and Bailey and Kate , of Springfield; Joni Wake, of Kennett and Corbin and Karley, of Kennett; Joy and Bruce Stevens and Eric Stevens, all of Phoenix, Arz.; Randy and Joy Loyd, of Anderson, Ind.; Lacy and Brody Stock, of Anderson; Troy Loyd, of Anderson; one brother, Ralph, of Bragg City, Mo.; three sisters, Sybil Moore, of Sparta, Ill., Eva Mae Ledford and Jo Alice Vinson, both of Campbell, Mo.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, at the McDaniel Funeral Home cChapel with the Rev. Ben Jordan officiating.

Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Todd Noah, Eric Stevens, Joni Wake, Lacy Stock, Troy Loyd and Brody Stock.

Honorary pallbearers were his coffee drinking buddies.

Memorials may be made to the Emerson Street Church of God in Kennett.

Nevil Myracle

Nevil Lawrence Myracle, 82, of Cardwell, Mo., died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at his residence.

Born Nov. 23, 1919, in Cardwell, son of the late Sidney and Lillie Mae Holcomb Myracle, he was a salesman.

Survivors include one brother, Raymond Myracle, of Paragould, Ark. and two sisters, Willadene Hyde and Bonnie Myracle, both of Cardwell.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, at the Cardwell cemetery in Cardwell with theRev. Bill Snow officiating.

Jerrod Payne

Jerrod Heath Payne, 16, of Senath, Mo., died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Senath.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 30, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the Senath-Hornersville High School Gymnasium with the Revs. Derek Combs and Doug Clinton officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lulu cemetery at Senath.

Polly Smith

Laverne Polly Smith, 84, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born Sept. 27, 1917, in Sikeston, Mo., daughter of the late Clyde Owen and Norma Faye Husher Swanagon, she was a member of the First Christian Church in Malden.

On Nov. 30, 1956, in Malden, she married Clarence Smith, who preceded her in death on June 8, 2001.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Gourley and wife, Schree, of Malden and James Smith and wife, Linda, of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter, Loretta Fowler and husband, Van, of DeSoto, Mo.; three sisters, Dorothy Karlish, of Roswell, Ga., Marietta Ingle, of Carrollton, Ga. and Mildred Bushnell, of Florissant; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Maarvin and Johnny Swanagon.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, April 30, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Glen Graham officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Park cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in Malden.

Farris Wallace

Farris Naomi Wallace, 87, of Kennett, died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Sept. 2, 1914, in Lexington, Tenn., daughter of the late Sam W. and Mit Houston McCollum and she worked in the School Food Service Program at Senath-Hornersville School for many years.

On April 22, 1936, in Cardwell, Mo., she married A.B. Wallace, who preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 1995 . Survivors include one son, Maurice Wallace and wife, Margaret, of Kennett; one daughter, Joy Ann Robertson and husband, John, of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Lisa Whinery, Shannon Fritz and Mike and Mark Wallace; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Sam McCollum, of Taylor, Mich.; four sisters, Alta Buck, of Paragould; Roffie and Virginia Buck, both of Lexington and Marie Jones, of Lexington.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Majors and Jewel Blankenship.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 29, at the First Baptist Church in Senath with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.

Burial was in the Senath cemetery.

Pallbearers were Alvin Buck, Don Wallace, Charles Horner, Joe Tompson, Bill Wyatt and Henry Sammons.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of arrangements.

Roger Broom

Roger Powell Broom, 58, of Malden, Mo, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at the Malden Nursing Center in Malden.

Born July 24, 1943, in Portageville, Mo., son of Sadie Burrow Broom, of Malden and the late Almon Broom, he was a member of the Church of Christ in Malden.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Broom and wife, Cathy, of Maumelle, Ark. and Jamie Broom and wife, Kari, of Malden and one sister, Marie Davis and husband, Harley, of Malden.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Alma Jean Netherton, Peggy Ann Broom and Cathy Lolita Broom and one brother, James Thomas Broom. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 1, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at the Church of Christ in Malden with the Rev. David McElwain officiating.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park cemetery at Malden.

Eddie Cagle

Rev. Eddie Cagle, 86, of Kennett, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Funeral services are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.

Everett Martin

Everett Martin, 85, of Senath, Mo., formerly of Rives, Mo., died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at the Senath Nursing Center in Senath.

Born Jan. 3, 1917, in Leapwood, Tenn., he was the son of the late Henry and Hettie Carothers Martin.

On Jan. 15, 1938, he married Pauline Ellis, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include one son, Gary Martin and wife, Kathleen, of St. Louis, Mo.; four daughters, Betty Chancellor, of St. Louis, Linda Patton and her husband, Bill, of Hollister, Mo., Marie Nelson and husband, Ricky, of Rives, Mo. and Sue Martin, of Kennett.; one sister, Dorothy Lawrence, of California; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, James Allen Martin; two brothers, Ira and Aaron Martin and two sisters, Lucille Mathison and Rozeltha Keating.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, May 1, at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Henson officiating.

Mary Prickett

Mary Blanche Mick Prickett, 85, of Neelyville, Mo., died in Springfield, Va.

Daughter of the late Myrtle Olive Brummley and Robert B. Mick, she owned and operated a Mexican restaurant and a beauty salon.

Survivors include one son, Robert B. Crawford, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; her niece and nephew, Olivia and Wade Jensen, of Springfield, Va.; one grandniece, Richelle Johnson, of Raleigh, N.C. and one cousin, Hazel Carter Cain, of Bragg City, Mo.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert B. Mick Jr.; one sister, Elizabeth Mick Hinson and one son, Ben H. Bailey Jr.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville, Mo. with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.

Burial was in the Maple cemetery at Caruthersville, Mo.

Donna Austill

Donna Lea Austill, 32, of Palm Bay, Fla., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, May 6, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 6, at the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden with the Rev. James Black officiating.
