Dorothy Ann Flowers, 76, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at the St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Born Aug. 2, 1925, in Ironton, Mo., daughter of the late James and Claudie Williams Wilburn, she attended school in Ironton.
Survivors include a son, Steve Wayne Studie of Caruthersville, Mo.; two granddaughters, Stephanie Studie of Caruthersville and Amee LeAnn Studie of Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Graveside services where held at 4 p.m. Friday, May 10, at the Maple cemetery with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of services.
Mary Osborne
Mary Patricia "Pat" Osborne, 82, of Memphis, Tenn. died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, in Memphis.
Born Jan. 8, 1920, in Burfordsville, Mo., daughter of the late Clarence A. and Ida Maye Brown Shepherd, she was a supervisor for Southwestern Bell Telephone, a member of the Southwestern Bell Pioneers and a member of the Webster Groves Presbyterian Church.
In 1951, at Piggott, Ark., she married
William T. Osborne who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Survivors include a sister, Peggy Sanders of Hayti, Mo.; a brother Bob McVey and his wife, Peggy, of Caruthersville, Mo.; eight nieces and four nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 7 p.m. Friday, May 10, in the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with the Rev. J. Daniel Fulbright officiating.
Private burial was 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11, in the St. Paul Church Yard cemetery in Webster Groves, Mo.
Betty Stocks
Betty Lucille Stocks, 63, of Malden, Mo., died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
Born April 29, 1939, in Salem, Mo., daughter of the late Peter and Golda Cox Warren, she was a member of the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of Ware, Mo. On April 6, 1957, in St. Louis, Mo., she married
Bobby Gene Stocks who survives of the family home.
Other survivors include two sons, Ronald Stocks of Malden and Robert Stocks of Elsah, Ill.; a daughter, Rebecca Jackson of Elsah, Ill.; a sister, Evelyn Portell of Potosi, Mo.; two brothers, Dallas Warren of Cadet, Mo. and Danny Warren of Potosi; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Maude McWhorter, Faye Tallent and Patsy Woodard.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, May 12, at Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Paul Starnes officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery at Malden.
Harvie Arnold
Harvie Arnold, 87, of East Prairie, Mo., formerly of Campbell, Mo., died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
Born Aug. 1, 1914, in Camden, Tenn., son of the late Stafford and Mary Scott Arnold, he was retired from John's Produce.
In 1936, he married
Ethel Ward, who preceded him in death on July 11, 1990. He was also preceded in death by one son, Harvie David Arnold and eight brothers and sisters.
Survivors include five daughters, Mary Francis Hallmark, of Springfield, Tenn.., Mattie Arnold Nehrkorn, Chris Swinson and Debi Allen, all of Carthage, Mo. and Joyce Cobb, of East Prairie; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 13, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell with the Rev. James Black officiating.
Burial was in the Tucker cemetery at Campbell.
Mary Dillard
Mary Emma Stevens Dillard, 77, of Clarkton, Mo., died Friday, May 10, 2002, at the Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born in Malden, Mo., daughter of the late Ray and Lula Mae Glover Stevens, she was of the Pentecostal faith.
She maried Wayne Sissell, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Steve Stockton, of D'Iberville, Miss.; one sister, Jean Stevens Anderson, of Clarkton, five grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
No services are planned.
Dempsy Hatcher
Wesslie David 'Dempsy' Hatcher, 83, of Rector, Ark., died Friday, May 10, 2002 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Ark.
Born Feb. 15, 1919, in Greene County, Ark., son of the late Ode and Martha Davis Hatcher, he was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII, a farmer and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marmaduke.
He married
Mable Poppe, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two brothers, Jessie and Leon Hatcher, both of Paragould; two sisters, Alidean Campbell and Katie Thomason, both of Paragould; nieces and nephews, Kathy Jadwin, Ann Morton, Brenda Gray and Judy Gramling, all of Paragould, Diane McClain, of Kennett, Sherry Cate, of Rector and Glenda Faye Hawk, of Memphis, Tenn.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 12, at the First United Methodist Church in Marmaduke with Kelly Craft officiating.
Burial was in the Woodland Heights cemetery at Rector.
Pallbearers were Jeff Deniston, Cam Cate, Jim McClain, Dewayne Gray and Chester and Clint Morgan.
Irby Funeral Home of Rector was in charge of arrangements.
Mary Holiman
Mary Nell Jones Holiman died on May 12, 2002 at her home. The daughter of Wade H. and Moillie Gill Jones, she was born in Trezevant, Tennessee on April 30, 1912. She was the devoted wife of the late U.S. Holiman, dearly loved mother of Dow Holiman (Karen) of Springfield, Missouri and Ruch Holiman (Marsha) of New Madrid, Missouri; grandmother of Christine Holiman Hutson (Eric), Jeffrey Holiman (Noelle), John Holiman (Allison), Jay Holiman and Cleve Holiman; great-grandmother of Garrett, Jackson, Maya and Cooper and special friends, Elaine and Ron Roelker.
Mary Nell , a faithful member of the Clarkton United Methodist Church, worked tirelessly in many capacities in her Church including serving as a district officer in the Women's Society of Christian Service/United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Clarkton Civic Club and was named Woman of the Year. For more than 10 years, Mary Nell co-chaired the City of Clarkton fundraising drive for the Dunklin County American Cancer Society.
Mary Nell's home as well as her heart were always open. In her lifetime she made a positive difference in the spiritual, physical an emotional health and well being of countless lives.
She was a remarkable lady who will be greatly missed.
Visitation was on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Landess Funeral Home in Malden, Missouri. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Clarkton United Methodist Church.
Burial was held in the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett, Missouri.
Pallbearers were Jeff, John, Jay and Cleve Holiman and Eric Hutson and Ron Roelker.

Kim Johnson
Kim Johnson, 44, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.
Born Jan. 20, 1958, in Hayti, Mo., son of the late Robert F. and Teresa Jane McClanahan Johnson, he was a truck driver.
Survivors include one sister, Teresa White, of Collierville, Tenn.; one brother, Donny Johnson, of Memphis and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Johnson.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Ira Singleton officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie cemetery.
Pallbearers were Alan B. Evans, Michael D. Bridges, John Reno, Carl White , Jeremy Spears and Robert F. Johnson, III.
Cecil LaFerney
Cecil Odell LaFerney, 75, of Campbell, Mo., died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell.
Born March 1, 1927, in Conran, Mo., son of the late James Robert and Callie Harp LaFerney, he was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII, a member of the Church of Christ in Campbell and retired from BeeCee Manufacturing.
On May 11, 1944, in Paragould, Ark., he married
Frances McKenzie, who survives.
Survivors also include four sons, James LaFerney and wife, Barbara, of Puxico, Mo., Billy LaFerney and wife, Cathy, of Malden, Mo., David LaFerney and wife Chris, of Portageville, Mo. and Gene LaFerney and wife, Kathy, of Campbell; one daughter, Cathy Gulledge and husband, Marty, of Sebastopol, Calif.; two sisters, Daisy Qualls, of Lincoln Park, Mich. and Roberta Darter, of Campbell; one brother, Gerald LaFerney, of Ft. Mead, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 14, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Fuller officiating.
Burial will follow at the Woodlawn cemetery in Campbell.
James Stacy
James Arthur Stacy, 79, of Kennett, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at his residence.
Born Nov. 13, 1922, in Kennett, son of the late Edward Winston and Lettie Eastridges Stacy, he was a U.S. Army veteran and a painter.
Survivors include one daughter, Demetra Morton, of Paragould, Ark.; two sons, Keith Stacy, of Greenway, Ark. and James Stacy, of Clark, Mo.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ramona Dortch.
No service is planned at this time. A private service will be held at a later date. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Kennett is in chage of arrangements.
Wert Ward
Wert Jefferson Ward, 88, of Kennett, formerly of Holcomb, Mo., died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Born Jan. 18, 1914, in Baxter, Tenn., son of the late W.B. and Ruth Mitchell Ward, he was a farmer.
On Sept. 15, 1934, he married
Coyeta Perkins, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include three sons, Jimmie L. Ward and wife, Polly, of Holcomb and Doyle Wayne and Jerry Alan Ward, both of Kennett; one brother, Ode Ward, of Caraway, Ark.; five grandchildren, Ricky and Ronald Ward, both of Holcomb, Rita Hinson, of Paragould, Ark., Jeffrey Ward, of Campbell, Mo. and Ashley Ward, of Kennett and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 13, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Don, Rick, Rick Jr., Keivan and Bobby Ward and Ray Sawyer.
