George Masters
George Vernon Masters, 77, formerly of Farmington, Mo., died Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at Fort Wayne, Ind.
Born May 20, 1925 in Kennett, Mo., son of the late Roy and Evie Broughton Masters, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II as a staff sergeant. He flew 33 combat missions as a tailgunner and was awarded the air medal five times. He graduated from Arkansas State College at Jonesboro, Ark. in 1953, taught school, worked for the Welfare and then the Department of Corrections , retiring as a parole officer in Indiana. He was of the Baptist faith.
On Aug. 21, 1946, in Qulin, Mo., he married
Rose Lucille Beavers who preceded him in death Mar. 21, 1994.
Survivors include a son, Jim Masters and his wife, Linda, of Mishawaka, Ind.: a daughter, Theresa Olmes and her husband, Bob, of Vernon, Conn.; two brothers, Wayne Masters and his wife, Rebah, and Doyle Masters and his wife, Genevieve, all of Missouri; a sister, Dovie Thompson of Michigan; his mother-in-law, Lena Beavers of Missouri; seven grandchildren, Jimmy, Lisa, Shawn and Nikki Masters, all of Indiana, Danielle Olmes Baumgardner, R.J. Olmes and Michelle Olmes Kielawa, all of Connecticut; six great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Cody, Tyler and Brittany Masters all of Indiana and Austin Baumgardner and Patrick Kielawa, both of Connecticut.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Felcie and Rennie.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m.. Saturday, May 25, in the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell, Mo.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, in the Landess Chapel with the Rev. O.H. Brooks officiating.
Burial will be in Qulin cemetery at Qulin.
Bill Richards
Bill Richards, 60, of Campbell, Mo., died Friday, May 24, 2002, at his residence.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden, Mo.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Saturday in the Bradshaw Chapel with the Rev. Dale Shoup officiating.
Burial will be private at the Park cemetery in Malden Sunday, May 26.
Macon Culbertson
Macon Culbertson, 79, of Kennett, Mo., died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Born Sept. 13, 1922, in Kennett, he was the son of the late John C. and Georgia Ashly Culbertson.
He married
Iva Jean Lea who preceded him in death Dec. 23, 2001. He was also preceded in death by a half-brother, Ballard Richardson and a sister, Vera Sherrill.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Culbertson and his wife, Kathy, of Gainesville, Fla., two grandchildren, Joshua Culbertson of Birmingham, Ala., and Sarah Culbertson of Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, May 26, in the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel of Kennett with Spencer Furby and Jerry Culbertson officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers will be Ron McNew, Harold Edwards, Murel Jones, Keith Jones, Larry McDowell and Bob Holder.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don and Terry Key, Jerry Sturgeon, Bill and Tommy McMahon, Jerry Wills, Forrest and Harold Busch, Danny and Mike Rhew, Ray Crawford, Pres Churchwell, Gary Miller, Bub Allgood, Paul Dennis and J.R. Little.
Cornelaus Jackson
Cornelaus Jackson, 93, of Malden, Mo. died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, Mo. Born Jan. 4, 1909 in Hickman Bend, Ark., daughter of the late Julius and Marie Morgan Hayes, he was a member of the House of Prayer in Parma, Mo.
On Oct. 6, 1934, in Kewanee, Mo., she married
Floyd Jackson who preceded her in death Feb. 25, 1960. She was also preceded in death by two sons, E.J. Jackson, Boston Jackson, a granddaughter, Regina Thatch, a grandson, Terry Wright and a great-granddaughter, Nikita Jackson.
Survivors include three daughter, Norma Wright of Malden, Mo., Celestine Jackson of Lithonia, Ga. and Katherine Chandler of Indianapolis, Ind.; three sons, Henry Jackson of Chicago, Ill., Pearl Jackson, Jr., of Vicksburg, Miss. and Charles Jackson of Indianapolis, 46 grandchildren, several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Sunday, May 26, in the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 27, in the House of Prayer with Elder Ronald Pulley officiating.
Burial will be in the Macedonia cemetery at Malden.
Eula Lancaster
Eula E. Lancaster, 82, of Campbell, Mo., died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at Piggott Community Hospital, Piggott, Ark.
Born July 27, 1919, in Rayville, La., son of the late Eula Emmett Lancaster Sr., and Minnie Mae Alford Lancaster, he was retired and a member of the General Baptist Church in Campbell.
On Sept. 8, 1943, in Tallulah, La., he married
Claudine Gerald who survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Larry Lancaster and his wife, Kay, of Palm Harbor, Fla. and Gary Lancaster of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Chandra Lancaster of Houston; a sister Dorothy Tullos and husband, Lacey of Cotton Valley, La., daughter-in-law, Linda A. Foster and husband, Kirby, of Campbell; eight grandchildren Lynn Lancaster of Plano, Texas, Anna Katherine Johnson of Kennett, Mo., Christopher Evan Lancaster of Pittsburg, Pa., LeAnn Cobb and Barbara Foster of Little Rock, Ark., Lisa Hyde of Clever, Mo., Angela Staggs of Benton, Ark., and Ryan Peterson of Campbell; three great-grandchildren, Christopher Andrew Lancaster of Plano, Texas, Hannah Johnson of Kennett and Tyler Staggs of Benton. He was preceded in death by four sisters, and five brothers, including his twin.
Funeral services are 4 p.m. today, Sunday, May 26, at Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell with Pastor Earl D. Bell officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery-Landess Addition at Campbell.
Bill Richards
Billy Wayne Richards, 60, of Campbell, Mo., died Friday, May 24, 2002, at his residence.
Born Oct. 6, 1941, at Tuckerman, Ark., son of the late Walter Thomas and Addie Mae Watson Richards, he owned Richards Vault Services and a member of the N.E. Arkansas Pointer & Setter and Bootheel Field Trial Clubs. He attended the Assembly of God Church.
On Nov. 2, 1979 in Campbell, he married
Libbie Bell who survives of the home.
Also surviving are five children, Anita Bogdajewicz and husband, Mark, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Ronnie Richards and wife, Oneskia, Regina Deken and husband, Leonard and Michah Bell, all of Campbell and Randy Richards and wife, Linda of Bentonville, Ark.; a brother, Virgil Hartsell and wife, Olene, of Paragould, Ark., two sisters, Parnell Miller and husband, Ed and Betty Adams and husband, Gearl, all of Malden, Mo. and six grandchildren, Mathew Blume of Poplar Bluff, Kelly Richards, Veronica Richards, Nickalas Richards and Christina Deken all of Campbell and Dane Richards of Bentonville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Shortie Hartsell and Harold Richards and a sister, Dorothy Atchley.
Funeral services were 7 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Bradshaw Funeral Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Dale Shoup officiating.
Private graveside services are today, Sunday, May 26, at Park cemetery in Malden.
Bud Hart
Bud Hart, 66, of Hornersville, Mo., died Monday, May 27, 2002, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 28, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Hornersville.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, at the First Baptist Church in Hornersville with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Lettie Nichols
Lettie Mae Nichols, 95, of Kennett, died Monday, May 27, 2002, at South Haven, Mich.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
Harvey Wood
Harvey Wood, 61, of Paragould, Ark., died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at the University of Arkansas medical Center in Little Rock, ark.
Born Feb. 13, 1941, in Cardwell, Mo., son of the late Lannis and Gertrude Craig Wood, he was a Lance Sales representative and a member of the 2nd & Walnut Church of Christ in Paragould.
Survivors include his wife, Jolene Wood, of Paragould; one daughter, Natalie Melton and husband, Terry, of Paragould; three sisters Emma Lee Cooper and husband Jimmy, of Memphis, Tenn., Hester Cunningham and husband, Bill, of Senath, Mo. and Lanna Biggerstaff and husband, of Paragould and three grandchildren, Allie, Amber and Ashley, all of Paragould.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 28, at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at the Mitchell Funeral Home with James Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at the Linwood cemetery.
Rufus Woodall
Rufus Allen Woodall, 67, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at his residence.
Born Aug. 1, 1934, in Houston, Miss., son of the late Charles Merideth and Bessie Elizabeth Crane Woodall, he was employed by the City of Caruthersville and was a member of the Kinfolks Ridge Baptist Church. On Aug. 5, 1967, in Caruthersville, he married
Shirley Ford, who survives of the home.
Suvivors also include nine children, Kenny Ford,, of St. Peters, Mo., Allen, Mark and Gary Woodall, Kay Hunt and Peggy Carver, all of Caruthersville, Earl Woodall, of Steele, Mo., Jackie Woodall, of Marble Hill, Mo. and Dana Williams, of Benton, Ill.; one brother, Winford Woodall, of Kennett; one sister, Mary Hurst, of Cedar Bluff, Miss. and 12 grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Bobby.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at the Maple cemetery in Caruthersville with the Rev. Troy Alley officiating.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
Mary Broyles
Mary Omega Broyles, 87, of Lockport, Ill., died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Denver, Colo.
Born May 17, 1915, in Gibson, Mo., daughter of the late Robert and Fanny Kirk Starnes, she was a homemaker.
On March 25, 1933, in Caruthersville, Mo., she married
Elija 'Con' Conway Broyles, who preceded her in death on March 30, 1994. She was also preceded in death by one grandchild and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby Broyles, of St. Charles, Ill., Gary Broyles, of Lockport and Ronnie Broyles, of Bartlett, Ill.; one daughter, Connie Mobley, of Northport, Ala.; two sisters, Flora Pollard and Barbara Sue Gillis; three brothers, Bill, Burl and Owen Starnes; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Woodlawn cemetery in Campbell.
