Laverne Ferguson
Laverne Smith Ferguson, 97, of Birmingham, Ala., died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Birmingham.
Born Nov. 17, 1904, in Hornbeak, Tenn., daughter of the late Archie Samuel Smith and Mattie Fairra Hayes, she worked in school administration and was a member of the Methodist Church in Blytheville, Ark.
On Dec. 20, 1924, in Blytheville, she married
Joseph Milton Ferguson, who preceded her in death on April 30, 1969.
Survivors include one son, Joe Ferguson, of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Arden Wildasin, of Houston, Texas and Juanita Durbin, of Birmingham; one sister, Juanita Butler, of Malden, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 3, at the Maple cemetery in Caruthersville, Mo. with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
Christine Floyd
Christine Robertson Floyd, 75, of Steele, Mo., died Friday, May 31, 2002, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville, Ark.
Born Oct. 21, 1926, in Denton, Mo., daughter of the late George Washington and Mollie Bell Wiggington Reagan, she was a homemaker and a member of the Steele Assembly of God Church.
In February, 1983, she married
Earl Floyd.
Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis Kennedy and husband, Kenneth, of Steele; two sons, Danny Robertson and wife, Sharon and Glenn Robertson and wife Shirley, both of Steele; two brothers, Raymond Reagan, of Fredericktown, Mo. and Ronald Reagan, of Park Hills, Mo.; four sisters, Dorothy Gallant, of Festus, Mo., Evelyn Brannum, of St. Louis, Mo., Jewel Rockwell, of St. Peters, Mo. and Freda Watkins, of Memphis; five grandsons, Brian, Blaine and Tony Kennedy and Scott and Charles Robertson, all of Memphis; one granddaughter, Penny Pritchett, of Memphis and eight great-grandchildren, Chase, Carly, Hannah, Ashton, Slade, Johna, Lahna and Kaitly.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Rayford, Lawrence and Donald Reagan and two sisters, Alene Donna Dinnell and Bernice Mills.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at the Steele Assembly of God Church with the Revs. John Badgley and Gary Andrews officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery at Steele.
Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
Cherie Hardin
Cherie Nicole Campbell Hardin, 21, of Campbell, Mo., died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born June 30, 1980, in Norfolk, Va., daughter of Mike and Tamera Rene Uthoff Cooper, of Campbell, she worked at Vancil's Grocery and was of the Protestant faith.
She was married
to Kevin Hardin, who survives.
Survivors also include one son, Spencer Hardin, of Piggott, Ark.; one sister, Paula Jankowski, of Campbell; one nephew, Bobby Jankowski, of Campbell; grandparents, Joy and Lou Talley and Pat and Lefty Cooper, all of Malden, Mo. and one uncle, Phillip Talley and wife, Dana, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 4, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Phillips officiating.
Burial will follow in the Woodlawn cemetery-Landess Addition at Campbell.
Bertha Hindmon
Bertha Hindmon, 85, of Kennett, died Friday, May 31, 2002, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born March 4, 1917, in Taskee, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Laura Magill Walker.
She married
Jiles Everett Hindmon, who preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1975. She was also preceded in death by two sons, James A. and Johnny Lee Hindmon; one daughter, Betty Hindmon; one grandson, James Robert Hindmon; three brothers, Ben F., George and Miles Walker; four sisters, Lydia Crews, Josephine Johnson, Dollie Carey and Katie Watson; two half-brothers, Jim and Bob Walker and one half-sister, Annie B. Staton.
Bertha Walker Hindmon was the last of the Walker siblings.
Survivors include two sons, Everett Hindmon, of Belleville, Mich. and Thomas Gene Hindmon, of Hernando, Miss.; one daughter, Barbara Abbott, of Kennett; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 3, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Troy Alley officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Charlie, Randy, Allen and Kenneth Hindmon, David Wright and Jackie Dollins.
Honorary pallbearers were Holly Dollins, Steve, James, Ricky, Dwayne and Chris Hindmon and Kevin Abbott.
Pauline Horner
Pauline Horner, 79, of Senath, Mo., died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Feb. 17, 1923, in Hornersville, Mo., daughter of the late Franklin and Mary Pierce, she was a homemaker and a member of the Lulu Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Charline Horner Barnum, of Paragould, Ark.; two sisters, Bettie King, of Bangor, Mich. and Marian Brown, of Hornersville; five grandchildren, Donna and Kim Foster, D.D. Fain, Tim Barnum and Brien Burkett and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Ferrell and Louise Isom and three brothers, Cleo, William and Roy Pierce.
Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 3, at the Lulu cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ted, Brian, Jeffery and Amber Foster and Tim Barnum.
Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould was in charge of arrangements.

Ronald 'Rip' Kenner, 60, of Kennett, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at his residence.

Fleetie McCormick
Fleetie McCormick, 96, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at her residence.
Born Oct. 24, 1905, in Center Point, Tenn., daughter of the late Wiley and Ida Mae Mitchell McCormick, she was a homemaker and a member of the Kinfolks Ridge Baptist Church in Caruthersville.
On Aug. 10, 1924, in Milledeville, Tenn., she married
Gilbert Carty Burkeen, who preceded her in death on March 24, 1970. She was also preceded in death by three sisters.
Survivors include four sons, Roy Burkeen, of Rocky, Okla., Jerry Burkeen, of St. Louis, Mo., Ed Burkeen, of Memphis, Tenn. and George Burkeen of New Orleans, La.; five daughters, Jewel Walker, of Caruthersville, Avis Burch, of Owensville, Mo., Irene Riley, of Memphis, Mary Underwood, of Hayti, Mo. and Pauline Cunningham, of Mechesny, Ill.; one sister, Arbie Rainey, of California; four god-children; 40 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; 47 great-great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 4, at the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home in Hayti.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Troy Alley officiating.

Billy Miller
Billy Miller, 84, of Malden, Mo., died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare-North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born Dec. 11, 1917, in St. Louis, Mo., son of the late Wayne and Emma Duncan Miller, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII, a member of the DAV and a member of the Church of Christ in Malden.
On Sept. 13, 1947, in Osceola, Ark., he married
Virgie Mae Huckabee, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three daughters, Janette Miller and Shadow Thomason, both of Malden and Barbara Dollar Hide, of Oxford, Miss. and one grandson, Zachary Tutor, of Oxford.
He was preceded in death by one son, Billy Rex Miller, two sisters, Genevie Summers and Beatrice Bushford and one brother, Hoover Miller.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 4, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 4, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with Stan Dauck officiating.
Burial with military rites will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.

Pearl K. Nelson, 73, of Kennett, died today, Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Sarah Skinner
Sarah May Skinner, 88, of Hayti, Mo., died Friday, May 31, 2002, at the Missouri Delta Hospital in Sikeston, Mo.
Born Dec. 22, 1913, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., daughter of the late Samuel and Minnie May Lee Myrant, she was a sales clerk and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Hayti.
On July 8, 1934, in Benton, Mo., she married
Quillard Skinner, who preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1995. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Samuel, George, Charles and Herbert Myrant.
Survivors include two sons, Arvil Skinner, of Portageville, Mo. and Quillard Ray Skinner, of Paducah, Ky.; four grandchildren, Susanne and John Skinner, of Portageville, Terri Ray Becktold, of Pensacola, Fla. and Quillard Jefferson Skinner III, of La Salle, Ill.; four great-grandchildren, Adam, Cody Ray and Travis Becktold, all of Pensacola and Mason Thomas Haynes, of Portageville; one brother, Robert Myrant, of Denver, Colo. and three sisters, Flossie Jones and Mildred Hicks, both of Poplar Bluff and Ena Pearl Bacon, of Kennewick, Wash.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Baker officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie cemetery at Caruthersville, Mo.
