Ethel Phillips
Ethel Mae Phillips, 67, of Kennett, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born Aug. 25, 1934, in Memphis, Tenn., daughter of the late Jimmy and Lucy Flood Lloyd, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She married
Willie Phillips, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Calvin Norris and wife, Tammy, of Sacramento, Calif.; one sister, Ruthie Sutton, of Philadelphia, Pa.; seven granddaughters, Jennifer Johnson, Brenice Shavers and Tanika Parker, all of Kennett, Ann Falls, of Springfield, Mo. and Ramano, Ciji and Latonya Norris, all of Sacramento; seven grandsons, Steven Powell, of St. Louis, Mo., Timmy Falls, of Marshall, Mo.,Tmas Calvin, Roger and Antoni Norris and Colton Phillips, all of Sacramento and Morris Jackson, of Wardell, Mo. and 48 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at the Community Temple Church of God in Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at the Community Temple Church of God in Christ with Bishop Luke Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Marvin Sissom
Marvin Joe Sissom, 70, of Kennett, died Monday, June 17, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.
Meble White
Meble Odean White, 84, of Hornersville, Mo., died Friday, June 14, 2002.
Born June 12, 1918, in El Paso, Ark., daughter of the late W.V. and Mary Bell Shadrack Mitchell, she was a homemaker and a member of the General Baptist Church in Rives, Mo.
She married
Horton Eligha White, who preceded her in death on May 31, 1993. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ezekial, L.D. and Baxton Mitchell and one sister, Clara Brewer.
Survivors include one son, J.W. White, of Kennett; one daughter, Shirley Martin, of Hornersville; one sister, Bernice Reynonld, of Steele, Mo.; one brother, Esley Mitchell, of Foresythe, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, at the Bradshaw-Emerson Funeral Home Chapel in Hornersville with the Rev. Chuck White officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.
Martha Spain
Martha Jean Davis Spain, 51, died Monday, June 10, 2002.
Born Feb. 10, 1951, in Greenwood, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Louvenia and Johnny Davis.
Survivors include her husband, Mack Spain; seven daughters, Joanne, Diane, Channelle, Devonna and Devonn Davis and Melissa Spain, all of Hayti, Mo. and Gloria Whitaker, of Homestown, Mo.; four sons, Eric Davis and Willie Spain, both of Hayti and Johnny and Tyronne Davis, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; three sisters, Dorothy Hamilton Green, of Hayti and Johnnie Mae and Daisy Mae Davis, both of Milwaukee; two brothers, Johnny Davis, of Milwaukee and Mark Davis, of Blytheville, Ark. and 20 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at noon Saturday, June 15, at the Pentecostal Power Church in Caruthersville, Mo. with Elder Roosevelt Martin officiating.
Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Eric Bradford, Alexander Stone, Willie Strong, Jackie Rowe, Cal Payne, Orlando Kershaw, Jeffrey Polk and Detric and Dundi Hamilton.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
Herman Via
Herman Eugene Via, 89, of Kennett, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Born May 17, 1913, in Tennessee, son of the late Will and Katie Kelo Via, he was a farmer and a member of the Samford Church of Christ.
On Oct. 24, 1948, in Steele, Mo., he married
Lala Via.
Survivors also include one step-son, John Smith and wife, Lucille, of Steele; one step-daughter, Betty Whitfield and husband, Buck, of Steele; four step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren and five step-great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 18, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Harris and John Mundy officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion cemetery in Steele.
Diana Hawkins
Diana Faye Hawkins, 59, of Senath, Mo., died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at her residence.
Born March 15, 1943, in Senath, she was the daughter of the late Boyd and Helen Palmer Kennedy.
On April 2, 1960, in Senath, she married
Bill Hawkins, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Marty Hawkins, of Orlando, Fla. and Dana Hawkins and wife, Missy, both of Jonesboro, Ark.; two brothers, Dennis Williams, of Kennett and Eddie Snyder, of Ironton, Mo.; one sister, Sharon Hardin, of Senath and two grandchildren, Madison and Jacob Hawkins.
She was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Mark Hawkins and one sister, Janice Kay Williams.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 17, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
Burial was in the Lulu cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dustin Pritchett, Eddie Adams, Bart Ozbun, Ricky Hawkins, Howard Lon Burton and Tim Webb.

Lillie Arnold
Lillie Parker Arnold, 94, of Senath, Mo., died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at the Senath Nursing Center.
Born June 10, 1908, in Tennessee, daughter of the late George Washington and Mary Kaiser, she was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
She married
Charlie Leslie Parker, who preceded her in death in 1957. She later married
Virgil Arnold, who preceded her in death in 1983.
Survivors include three sons, Clifton Parker and wife, Jan, of Paragould, Ark., Sam Parker and wife, Donna, of Phoenix, Ariz. and Jerry Wayne Parker and wife, Helen, of Mercerville, N.J.; four daughters, Mary Robertson, of St. Louis, Mo., Bonnie Felton and husband, Gene, of St. Joseph, Mich., Ruth Lipper, of Memphis, Tenn. and Jeannie Barger, of Fort Worth, Texas; 24 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, J. Quince and Buel Parker; four brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with the Rev. Albert Camp officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Roger, Steve, Charlie, Kenneth, Casey, Shane and Billy Parker, Tim Lipper, Keith Cook, Skip Kincaid, Mike Felton and Dave Neal.
Joe Sissom
Joe Sissom, 70, of Kennett, died Monday, June 17, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center.
Born June 19, 1931, in Cardwell, Mo., he was the son of the late Audie Daniel and Elsie Cross Sissom.
On April 15, 1949, in Piggott, Ark., he married
Jo Ann Boyt, who survives of the home .
Survivors also include two daughters, Donna Kay Baughman and husband, Jerry, of Clinton, Mo. and Debra L. Waynick and husband, James, of Kennett; two brothers, A.D. Sissom, Jr., of St. Peters, Mo. and Kenneth Sissom, of Troy, Mo.; four sisters, Betty Sissom, of Branson, Mo., Tollie Simpkins, of Marshall, Ark., Margaret Campbell, of Swifton, Ark. and Norma Thomas, of Harrison, Ark.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild and two brothers, Edward and Frank Sissom.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, June 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Brian Johnson and Jerry Baughman officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Billy, Jonathan and Aaron Waynick, Scott Baughman, Chad Preston and Jeremy Yates.
Honorary pallbearers were Howard Tittle, Herb, Frankie and Raymond Campbell, Bob Holder, W.L. Green, Jim Blankenship, Larry Webb and Kingsmen Fellowship of First Assembly of God.
William Bond
William "Bill" Darrell Bond, 61, of Armington, Ill., died Monday, June 17, 2002, at Pekin Living and Rehab Center.
Born March 11, 1941, in Deering, Mo., son of the late Otis M. and Hazel Irene Wright Bond, he was a carpet layer and a member of the First Baptist Church in Steele, Mo.
Suriviors include two brothers, Harold Bond and wife, Berdean, of Armington, Ill. and Carroll Bond and wife, Helen, of Fayetteville, Ark.; one sister, Doris I. Ivy, of Jonesboro, Ark. and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, June 21, at the Mt. Zion cemetery in Steele with the Rev. Rudy Thrasher officiating.
Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
