Fannie Hardesty
Fannie Lafern Hardesty, 45, of Pascola, Mo., died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti, Mo.
Born Feb. 28, 1957, in Peru, Ind., daughter of Flora M. Hamlett, of Pascola and the late Bobby Hamm, she was a lab technician and attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pascola.
Survivors also include her step-father, Maxwell Foster; one son, Joshua Glenn Allen Hyde, of Tuscola, Ill.; three sisters, Mary Truelove, of Las Vegas, Nev., Carol Weeks, of Kennett and Joyce Drumwright, of Holland, Mo. and one brother, Allen Foster, of Pascola.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. today, Friday, June 21, at the Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pascola with Mike Tinnin officiating.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
Odas Isaacs
Odas "Pooch" Isaacs, 72, of Clarkton, Mo., died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Landess Funeral Home of Malden, Mo.
Virgil Long
Virgil Ralph Long, 80, of Senath, Mo., died Monday, June 17, 2002, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.
Born Nov. 30, 1921, in Newark, Ark., he was the son of Robert Clay and Bessie Mae Barker Long.
Survivors include two sons, David Long and Barry Long and wife, Susan, all of Senath; three daughters, Shelia Mitchell, of Kennett, Sherry Ary, of Splendora, Texas and Kathy Reagan and husband, Ronald, of Paragould, Ark.; one brother, Henry Clay Long, of Batesville, Ark.; one sister, Vonnie Mae Eschenbrenner, of LeHigh Acres, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
Chester Merritt, Jr.
Chester Merritt, Jr., 56, of West Ridge, Ark., formerly of Kennett, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Osceola, Ark.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, June 21, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Harold Houchins
Harold Houchins, 55, of Kennett, died Friday, June 21, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Odas Isaacs
Odas C. "Puch" Isaacs, 72, of Clarkton, Mo., formerly of Doniphan, Mo., died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at his residence.
Born April 30, 1930, at Gideon, Mo., son of the late Harvey and Lucy Mae Rothley Isaacs, he was a retired draftsman-architecture. He served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was a member of St. Louis Scottish Rite, past master of Doniphan Masonic Lodge 369, past patron of the Doniphan Order of Eastern Star 288, member of Doniphan VFW and American Legion Post 645 at Clarkton. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clarkton. He married
Mary Evelyn Bailey, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 29, 1994, he married
Mary Ann Waltrip Henry who survives.
Other survivors include two daughters: Sandra Powell and husband, John, of Marion, Ark. and Glenda Martin and husband, Michael, of Atoka, Tenn.; a step-daughter, Jannetta Allison and husband, Duane, of Waterloo, Ill., three grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Baker.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, June 23, at Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Revs. Vernon Self and Susan Marner-Sides officiating.
Burial was in Stanfield cemetery at Clarkton.

Chester Merritt, Jr.
Chester Merritt, Jr., 56, of West Ridge, Ark., formerly of Kennett, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Osceola, Ark.
Born Dec. 10, 1945, in East St. Louis, Ill, he was the son of the late Chester, Sr. and Goldie Johnson Merritt. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois Moody Sinko.
Survivors include two sons: James Wesley Merritt and Chester Dwayne Merritt, both of West Ridge; six daughters: Katrina Peyton, Rebecca Diane Merritt, Rachel Diane Merritt, Kimberly Joyce Merritt, all of West Ridge, Amy Lynn Coatney of Etowah, Ark. and Christina Beth Merritt of Osceola; one brother, Michael Merritt of Kennett; five sisters: Wilma Doberry and Mary Pickens, both of Kennett, Joyce Francis of Cape Girardeau, Janiet Adams of Nashville, Tenn. and Alice Patrick of Springfield, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Gary Masters officiating.
Burial was in Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Pallbearers were Keith Pickens, Richard Francis, Michael Francis, Gary Doherty, Jr., Jason Moody and Brian Moody.
Honorary pallbearers were Jeff Patrick and Darrell Jones.

Vanessa Potter, 42, of Paragould, Ark., died Friday, June 21, 2002, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Cora Shields
Cora Lee Shields, 75, of Rives, Mo., died Friday, June 21, 2002, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born May 3, 1927, in Caruth, Mo., daughter of the late Robert Alexander and Mattie Dee Johnson Hartle, she was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church at Rives.
She married
James Hockaday who preceded her in death. On April 17, 1965, she married
James Shields who survives.
Other survivors include two sisters: Virginia Collins and Betty Scott and her husband, Rondal, all of Rives; three brothers: Elmer Hartle and his wife, Lagert, of Bradford, Ark., Bobby Hartle and his wife, Lois of Farmington, Mo. and Samuel Ode Hartle and his wife, Ada of Rives.
Visitation is 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. today, Sunday, June 23, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday, June 24, at the Missionary Baptist Church in Rives with the Rev. David Powell officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers were Alton Payne, Russell Weaver, Kenny Payne, Parker Worrell, Larry Conley and Archie Scott.
John Buchanan
John Buchanan, 84, of Kennett, died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at his residence.
Born Aug. 5, 1917, in St. Louis, Mo., son of the late Rupert and Mollie F. Kimble Buchanan, he was a Merchant Marine serving in WWII.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia McDaniel, of Kennett and Barbara Brown, of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Buchanan and one great-grandson, Blake Key.
Memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 25, at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Kennett with Father Henry Grodecki officiating.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Kennett Humane Society.
Truma Fox
Truma Grace Fox. 88, of Malden, Mo., died Sunday, June 23, 2002, at her residence.
Born June 14, 1914, in Portageville, Mo., the daughter of the late Henry and Alice Trout Brannon, she was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden.
On Nov. 13, 1929, in Portageville, she married
William Albert Fox, who preceded her in death on May 30, 1987. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Gertrude McAdoo.
Survivors include four daughters, Juanita Cain, of Sikeston, Mo., Patricia Earnheart, of Malden, Betty Riley, of Kennett and Sue Albright, of Eudora, Ark.; one brother, Aaron Brannon, of Malden; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 25, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Chuck Pipkins officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Park cemetery at Malden.
Virgil Long

Vanessa Potter, 42, of Paragould, Ark., formerly of Kennett, died Friday, June 21, 2002, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born April 20, 1960, in Kennett, she was the daughter of Jim Shown, of Kennett and the late Bertha Lou Mabry Shown.
On March 18, 1990, she married
Steve Potter, who survives of the home. Survivors also include two step-sons, Dustin Estes and Taylor Potter, of Paragould; one sister, Angie Shown, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two brothers, Tim Shown, of Jonesboro, Ark. and Donnie Shown, of Baxter, Tenn.; five nieces, Michelle Fields, of Baxter, Becky Sutton, of Cookeville, Tenn. and Ashley, Madison and Whitney Shown, all of Jonesboro and one nephew, Eric Shown, of Cookeville,
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 24, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Revs. Dale Rickman and J.C. Joyner officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett . Pallbearers were John Robinette, William Bailey, Mike Sloan, Keith Clark, Mark Lipper, Wes Sanford, Charlie Pedigo and Todd Harvey.
