Mary Riley, 81, of Farmington, Mo., formerly of Wardell, Mo., died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Presbyterian Manor Nursing Home in Farmington.

Arrangements incomplete with Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home of Wardell.

Andrew Waldrop

Andrew Ross Waldrop, 17, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Monday, July 1, 2002, in Blytheville, Ark.

Born Dec. 26, 1984, in Hayti, Mo., son of Terry Alan Waldrop and the late Diana Renee Tomlin Waldrop, he attended Caruthersville schools.

Survivors include his father and step-mother, Kathryn Waldrop of Caruthersville; a step-brother, Thomas Buchanan of Caruthersville; a step-sister, Kristi Buchanan of Caruthersville; and grandparents, Maxine Waldrop of Caruthersville and Janie Estes of Hayti.

Funeral services were 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at the Caruthersville Recreation Center with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.

Burial was in Little Prairie cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jayme Medlin, Brad Clark, Randy Malone, Alex Morgan, Christopher Waldrop and Rogers VanAusdall.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Caruthersville High School baseball team and Bob Lazenby.

Lenzie Williams

Lenzie Williams, 91, of Kennett, died Monday, July 8, 2002, at NHC Healthcare of Kennett.

Arrangements incomplete with Bradshaw Funeral Home of Kennett.

Isaac Woten

Isaac "Ike" Woten, 91, of Wardell, Mo., died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.

Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, at Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Chapel in Wardell.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 11, at the Church of Christ in Wardell with Laddie Owens officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.

Lora Bishop

Lora Brown Bishop, 88, of Cardwell, Mo., died June 30, 2002, at Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.

Born April 10, 1914, in Shields, Mo., daughter of the late Clarence and Eunice Marshall Brown, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Cardwell.

On Feb. 16, 1938, she married Byron "Bud" Bishop who preceded her in death Aug. 1, 1997.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois Ridings.

Survivors include a son, Jack N. Bishop of Paragould, Ark.; two daughters, Betty L. Maxwell and Judith L. Crews, both of Kennett; four grandchildren, Kerry Parker of Kennett, John Scott Maxwell and Jennifer Bishop of Paragould and Greg Crews of Trumann, Ark. and seven great-grandchildren, Matthew and Adam Parker of Kennett, Ryan, Whitney and Landon Maxwell of Paragould and Eddie Ray and Blake Crews of Trumann.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at First Baptist Church in Cardwell with the Revs. Clyde Cook and Ed Jansson officiating.

Burial was in Cardwell cemetery at Cardwell.

Pallbearers were Ron Parker, Matt Parker, David Hicklin, Joe Dan Loftin, Ken Carter and Brandon Wells.

Honorary pallbearers were Lee Neuman, Clyde Cobb, Eddie Harold Risinger and Jerald Parker.

Billy Brent

Billy Dean Brent, 67, of Gentry, Ark., and formerly Wardell, Mo., died Sunday, July 7, 2002, at the V.A. Hospital in Little Rock, Ark.

Born Wednesday, May 29, 1935 in Wardell, son of the late James and Lilly Haltzclaw Brent, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and operated a service station.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Wilborn Brent; four brothers, Lovie, Raymond, George and Gerald Brent and one sister, Opal Kester. Survivors include a son, Chris Brent of Moulton, Ala.; two daughters, Beth Jefcoat of Gentry, Ark. and April Alford of Bristol, Tenn.; a sister, Goldie James of Wardell; three granddaughters, Angelica Jefcoat of Gentry, Sarah Grace Alford of Bristol and Chasity Brent and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, July 10, at Bradshaw-Osborn Funeral Chapel in Wardell with the Rev. Lovie Williams officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial cemetery at Wardell.

Myrtle Brewington

Myrtle Merie Brewington, 85, of Campbell, formerly of Malden and Gideon, Mo., died Monday, July 8, 2002 at General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell. Born Feb. 12, 1917, at Senath, Mo., daughter of the late Issac P. and Minnie Lue Seward Winston, she attended the Church of Christ in Malden.

On Jan. 27, 1943, in Newport, Ark., she married Earl T. Brewington who preceded her in death Aug. 19, 1972.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Woodrow Winston and Edgar Winston and three sisters, Cora Cole, Elsie Creameans and Ethel Douglas.

Survivors include two sons, Henry Brewington of Dallas, Ga. and Joe Brewington of Gideon; a daughter, Wanda Goliher of Roswell, Ga; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, at Hopewell cemetery at Cord, Ark. with Billy Gene Cole officiating.

Thelma Butler

Thelma Butler, 64, of Kennett, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Arrangements incomplete with Bradshaw Funeral Home of Kennett.

James Holmes

James P. Holmes, 78, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at his home.

Born June 2, 1924 in Lyon County, Ky., son of the late Monroe and Eliza Helton Holmes, he enlisted in the U.S. Army March 2, 1943, at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. and received an honorable discharge at Jefferson Barracks Jan. 3, 1946. He was awarded three bronze stars during World War II. He was a machine operator with Case Manufacturing prior to retirement and was of the Methodist faith.

On July 14, 1950, in Davenport, Iowa, he married Doris Buck who preceded him in death. On Jan. 8, 1993, in DeWitt, Iowa, he married Mary Lucille Oliver, who survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Dennis Holmes of Haines City, Fla. and Larry Holmes of Clinton, Iowa; three daughters, Doris Ann Burmesiter, Long Grove, Iowa; Linda Morris, Davenport, Iowa and Marsha Christy of Caruthersville; two brothers, Willis Holmes of Oran, Mo. and Edward Holmes of Davenport; two sisters, Anna Mae Gillian of Montclair, Calif. and Beatrice Goetz of Bettendorf, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gene, and four sisters, Ruby Edwards, Viola Barker, Vernia James and Lois Barker.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.

Burial was in Little Prairie cemetery.

Pallbearers were R.J. Morris, Henry Williams, Josh Wilbanks, Robert Holmes, Darin Burmeister and Brian Morris.

Gene Flowers

F. Gene Flowers, 57, of Hot Springs, Ark., formerly of Hayti, Mo., died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at his home.

Born Jan. 8, 1945, at Portageville, Mo., son of the late Adam Hilory and Mary Magdalene Brailey Flowers, he was a shoe manufacturing executive, a member of the Oaklawn United Methodist Church, Chamber of Commerce, and Lions Club.

On Dec. 10, 1963, at Portageville, he married Betty Mathenia who survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Jeff Flowers and his wife, Robin, of Owasso, Okla.; one brother, Charles Flowers and his wife, Ann, of Hot Springs; and one sister, Colon Godsey and her husband, Charley, of Fredericktown, Mo. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Bro. Sam Williams officiating.

Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery at Hayti.

Pallbearers were Bill Clayton, Brad Flowers, Bart Godsey, Terry Godsey, Travis Hill, Todd Reed, Jerry Hackworth, Harry Linton, John Mathenia and John Stenger.

James Jarboe

James Alvin Jarboe, 58, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Monday, July 8, 2002 at John J. Pershing Veterans Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born Nov. 22, 1943, in Caruthersville, son of the late James Ivan and Roney Pearl Williams Jarboe, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include two sons, Allen Jarboe and his wife, Sandy, and Chris Jarboe and his wife, Misty, all of Kennett and one grandson, Justin Jarboe. No services are planned.

Eunice Latimer

Eunice E. Latimer, 83, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Monday, July 1, 2002, at her home.

Born Feb. 1, 1919, in Beech Bluff, Tenn., daughter of the late Henry A. and Esther Willoughby Crumby, she attended school in Beech Bluff and Deering, Mo. She was a member of the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church and the Garden Club.

Survivors include two sisters, Martha Murphy and Ruby Irving, both of Jackson, Tenn. and two sisters-in-law, Mary Lee Crumby and Maxine Crumby, also of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Harold. Funeral services were Thursday, July 4, at Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dwight Chapman officiating.

Burial was in Little Prairie cemetery at Caruthersville under direction of H.S. Smith Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Dan Travis, Gearl Adams, Mike Rutherford, C.L. Criswell, Charles Davis and Denny Merideth.

Aaron Little

Aaron Randall Little, 19, of Steele, Mo., died Sunday, June 30, 2002, in Blytheville, Ark.

Born Jan. 8, 1983, in Blytheville, son of Charles Randall and Janet Lynn Tomlin Little of Steele, Mo., he was a graduate of South Pemiscot High School and Cotton Boll Vocational Technical School and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Blytheville.

Other survivors include a brother, James Little of Helena, Ark.; a sister, Jennifer Reid of Steele; grandparents, Charles and Myrtle Little of Steele and Janie Estes of Hayti.

Funeral services were 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Doug Wright officiating.

Interment was in the Little Prairie cemetery.

Pallbearers were Frankie Lane, Harold Shipley, Jackson Bradford, Jerod Beaver, Gary Shipley and Loran Shipley.
