Angela Thompson
Angela Darlene Myers Thompson, 39, of Clarkton, Mo., died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Three Rivers HealthCare North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born Jan. 6, 1963, in Belle Glade, Fla., daughter of Arthur Elkins, of Cooter, Mo. and the late Barbara Latta Elkins, she was of the Baptist faith.
On Dec. 1, 1995, in Clarkton, she married
Matthew Thompson, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two daughters, Amanda Myers and Heather Thompson, both of Clarkton; three sons, Ricky and Joey Myers, both of Clarkton and Charles Thompson, of Clarkton; four sisters, Regina Westmorlan, Virginia Beach, Va., Diane Holcert, of Raceland, La., Pam Jestus, of Kennett and Melinda Miller, of Beebee, Ark. and two brothers, Bobby Elkins, of Athens, Ga. and Brian Elkins, of Beebee, Ark.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Thursday, July 18, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 19, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.
Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton.
Don Waggoner
Don Waggoner, 77, of Kennett, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Paducah, Ky.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.
Opie Clevenger
Opie Clevenger, 86, of Senath, Mo., died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, July 19, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at the Senath cemetery with the Rev. Derek Combs officiating.
Joyce Gamble
Joyce Starnes Gamble, 47, of Memphis, Tenn., died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis.
Survivors include her husband, Kevin Gamble, of Memphis, formerly of Kennett; two sons, Billy Royal, of Athens, Ga. and Chris Royal, of Memphis; her parents, Wade and Thelma Starnes, of Memphis; one sister, Sheila Lawson, of Memphis and one brother, Harold Starnes, of Memphis.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday, July 19, at Forrest Hills East Funeral Home in Memphis.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the Memphis Botanical Gardens.
Don Waggoner
Don Waggoner, 72, of Kennett, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Paducah, Ky.
Born Feb. 19, 1930, in Hayti, Mo., he was the son of the late Bill and Opal Lena Hudgens Waggoner.
On Jan. 12, 1999, he married
Imogene Weatherly Bennett, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Kent Russell Waggoner, of St. Louis, Mo. and Tim Waggoner, of Hornersville, Mo.; one daughter, Donna Waggoner, of Paragould, Ark.; two step-daughters, Tammie Smith and Beth Poitra, both of Gillette, Wyo.; one sister, Pat Wheeler, of Kennett and four grandchildren, Chad, Ashley, Cole and Luke Waggoner.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. today, Friday, July 19, at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.
Pallbearers were Scott Andrews, Brandon Rouse, Tom Striegel, Tom Kinsey, Chad Waggoner and David Dunivan.
Ralph Berger
Ralph E. Berger, 78, of Qulin, Mo., died Friday, July 19, 2002, at his residence.
Born June 12, 1924, in Oglesville, Mo., son of the late Max and Rosa Oden Berger, he was a farmer and member of the Oglesville General Baptist Church. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On Nov. 6, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., he married
Sue E. Taylor, who survives.
Other survivors include a brother, Arlin Berger of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Geneva Berger of Qulin and two brothers-in-law, C.E. Forrest and Cleo Taylor, Jr. and his wife, Mae, all of Qulin and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Emil Berger and one sister, Onedia Forrest.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. today, Sunday, July 21, at Oglesville General Baptist Church with the Revs. Doug Richmond and Gerald Berger officiating.
Burial will be in Berger cemetery at Qulin.
Dorothea Campbell
Dorothea Campbell, 68, of Elsberry, Mo., formerly of Senath, Mo., died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at her residence. Visitation will be Sunday, July 21, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Senath.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, at McDaniel Chapel with the Rev. Allie Mae McKnight officiating.
Burial will be in McGrew cemetery.
Opie Clevenger
Opie Clevenger, 86, of Senath, Mo., died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett. Born Feb. 3, 1916, in Halls, Tenn., son of the late James and Loretta Cates Clevenger, he was a veteran of World War II, a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
On Aug. 6, 1954, in Senath, he married
Charlene Duke who survives . Other survivors include a daughter, Diane Skelton and her husband, Jake, of Senath and a granddaughter, Kristyn Skelton and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Graveside services were 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at the Senath cemetery with the Rev. Derek Combs officiating.
Pallbearers were Barbara Spence, Kenny Johnson, Charley Adams, Jerry Pillow, Harold Horner, Bill Clevenger, Jesse Small, Joe Small, Joe Thompson, Tom Chandler, John Wilcox, Coy Kelley, Virgil Gilkey, John McClain, Joe Bankhead, Keith Milligan, Keith Mitchell, Phillip Utley, Robby Shrum, Wendel Fritz, Will and Matt Mobley and Jim Milligan.
J.D. Cunningham
J.D. Cunningham, 99, of Senath, Mo., died Monday, July 15, 2002, at his home.
Born Sunday, March 15, 1903, in Little Rock, Ark., son of the late Sam and Ida Cunningham, he was a farm and gin laborer and member of the Holcomb Worship Center in Holcomb, Mo. In 1941 in Little Rock, Ark., he married
Rosie Bernice Barker, who preceded him in death Jan. 23, 1982.
Survivors include four daughters, Gladys Redden of Malden, Mo., Betty Bost, Patricia Squires and Mary Cunningham Moody all of Kennett; two sons, Jimmy Cunningham of Kennett and Jerry Cunningham of Senath; a sister, Bessie Stafford of Tulsa, Okla.; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and a step-grandson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey and Roy Cunningham and a sister, Lessie Adam. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Philip Bartholomew officiating.
Burial in Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.

Janet L. Lee, 40, of Kennett, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, in Kennett.

Edith Mathis
Edith Gustine Mathis, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born Oct. 11, 1915, in Christian County, Ky., a daughter of the late James and Florence Bates Griffin, she attended school in Central City, Ky. and was employed more than 40 years by Brown Shoe Co. before retiring. She was a member of Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church in Caruthersville. On Jan. 10, 1945, in Caruthersville, she married
Kinch Arlen Mathis, who preceded her in death April 29, 1985. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Cathay Fisher of Caruthersville; four grandchildren, Brannon Fisher and Angela Houston, both of Caruthersville and Tammy Brodie and Larry Gene Fisher, both of Cooter, Mo.; five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, July 19, at H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
Burial was in Little Prairie cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ronald Brodie, Danny Sanders, Eric Tilmon, John Tilmon, Joe Tilmon and Larry Fisher.
Donald Webb
Donald P. Webb, 68, of Boynton, Beach, Fla., formerly of Kennett, died Sunday, June 23, 2002 at Bethesda Memorial Hospital of complications from a stroke.
Born April 3, 1934, at White Oak, Mo., son of Howard and Dollie Webb, he served with air crash rescue in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was retired from the Delray Beach (Fla.) Fire Department, was a painting contractor and a deacon at Lakeview Baptist Church in Delray Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 46-year, Glenna Geraldine Flint Webb; two sisters, Mary Ellen Smith of Covina, Calif. and Karen Webb of Seattle, Wash. and four brothers, Howard Webb of St. Louis, Russ Webb of Santa Monica, Calif., Jerry Webb of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Miles Webb of Plymouth, Minn.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, June, 27, at Lakeview Baptist Church.
Entombment was in the Boyton Beach Mausoleum.
Bertha Collins
Bertha Mae Forsythe Collins, 93, of Hayti, Mo., died Friday, July 19, 2002, at the Pemiscot Memorial Nursing Home in Hayti.
Born May 14, 1909, in Grand Rivers, Tenn., daughter of the late John L. and Ruth Walker Forsythe, she was a homemaker and a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter, Mo. She married
Amos Collins, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, one brother and three sisters.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 22, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele, Mo. with the Rev. Dwight Chapman officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery at Steele.
Elmer Halford, Sr.
Elmer Thomas Halford, Sr., 78, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Hayti.
Born Aug. 31, 923, in Cooter, son of the late Thomas and Bertha Lee Wallace Halford, he was a member of R.S.V.P. and attended the Assembly of God Church.
In 1942, in New Madrid, Mo., he married
Madeline F. Wooten, who preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1986. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby Halford and wife, Loretta and Tommy Halford and wife, Cheryl, all of Caruthersville and Clifford Halford and wife, Jewel, of Portageville, Mo.; one daughter, Vickie Thrasher and husband, Gary, of Blytheville, Ark.; one brother, Jack Halford, of Bradenton, Fla.; one sister, Opal Waller, of Hayti; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery at Steele, Mo. Pallbearers were Steve Watkins, Gary Hayes, Dave Burke, Zach Stevens, A.G. Franks, Jr., Dixie Reed and Robert Russell.
