Philip Montgomery
Philip D. Montgomery, 60, of Dexter, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at the Beverly Helath & Rehab Center in Dexter. Born Oct. 4, 1941, in Gideon, Mo., son of the late Garfield and Francis Reed Montgomery, he was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked at the Purolator Company in Dexter. He attended the Assembly of God Church in Bernie, Mo.
On July 4, 1973, in Dexter, he married
Barbara Mason, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Clint and Wesley Montgomery, both of Dexter; two daughters, Ramona Mason, of Dexter and Tammy Kanavel, of Grewelthorpe, England; two brothers, David and Barry Montgomery, both of Dexter; one sister, Judy Nea, of Dexter and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Elbert Mason and Danny Marshall officiating.
Burial will follow at the Dexter cemetery in Dexter.
Buford Newton
Buford Newton, 80, of Hayti, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home of Hayti.
Terry Queen
Terry Queen, 43, of Kennett, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

John Rash
John Ray Rash, 75, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born April 1, 1927, in Marie, Ark., son of the late Troy and Annie Ester Day Rash, he was a carpenter and of the Church of Christ faith.
On Nov. 30, 1973, in Caruthersville, he married
Golden E. Ghyers, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Dennis Rash, of Steele, Mo.; one step-son, Jimmy Green, of Steele; three sisters Alma Hector, of Vermillion, Ohio and Evelyn Driver and Betty Sue Fleming, of Osceola, Ark.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Rash and one sister, Virginia Jenkins.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at the Little Prairie cemetery in Caruthersville with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
Pallbearers were Drew, Donnie, Logan and Jarrod Green, Steven Rash and Dale Ghyers. H. S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
Elbert Sadler
Elbert Leander Sadler, 81, of Aid, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at his residence.
Born May 8, 1921, in Bernie, Mo., son of the late Richard L. and Lily Ramsey Sadler, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. On March 31, 1951, in Piggott, Ark., he married
Carzenia Masterson, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two daughters, Linda Allen, of Amarillo, Texas and Janet Smith, of Dexter, Mo.; four grandchildren, Kathryn Bradley, Jennifer Nieman, Gabriel Sweeney and Eric Hendrix; two great-grandchildren, Alex Bradley and Adriene Newman; two sisters, Eleanor Leirer, of Gideon, Mo. and Louise Smith, of Dexter and two brothers, Marion Sadler, of Austin, Texas and Reeves Sadler, of Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Ralph Sadler and three sisters, Alberta Fulkerson, Lavern Dowdy and Reba McFerron.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Bernie cemetery in Bernie with the Rev. Jerry Summers officiating.

James Smothers
James Wesley 'J.W' Smothers, 79, of Campbell, Mo., died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born July 11, 1923, in Campbell, Mo., son of the late Evert and Essie Lee Pierce Smothers, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII, a farmer and member of the First General Baptist Church in Campbell. He was a member of the 4 Mile Masonic Lodge No. 212, Campbell OES Chapter No. 92, Scottish Rites and Shriners.
On Feb. 23, 1943, in New Madrid, Mo., he married
Glodean Stevens, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Donald Smothers and wife, Tabby, of Malden, Mo.; two daughters, Ginger Kay Mauldin and husband, David, of Jefferson City, Mo. and Joan Marie Abernathy and husband, Rick, of Campbell; three brothers, Everett Smothers, of Forsyth, Mo., Robert Lee Smothers, of Kennett and Ernest Smothers, of Troy, Mo.; one sister, Mary Bennett, of Marmaduke, Ark.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Dean; two brothers, Buford and Loran Smothers and three sisters, Dona Smothers, Mattie Shanda and Opal Lewis.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Black officiating.
Burial with military rites were held at the Elder cemetery in Campbell.
Lloyd Burdin
Lloyd Burdin, 68, of Greenway, Ark., died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Dortch officiating.
Burial will follow at the Woodland cemetery in Rector, Ark.
Loretta Edgington
Loretta E. Edgington, 100, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Feb. 22, 1902, in St. Louis, Mo., she was the daughter of the late William and Rose Els Eggeman.
On July 6, 1927, she married
Otho Edgington, who preceded her in death on May 11, 1967. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Eggeman and one sister, Ida Eggemann.
Survivors include one son, Richard Edgington, of Kennett; one daughter, Jane McKinney, of Brownsville, Texas; three grandchildren, Richard P. Edgington, III, of Kennett, Amy E. Bowen, of Columbia, Mo. and Margaret E. McKinney, of Providence, R.I. and three great-grandchildren, Jay and Tom Edgington, both of Kennett and Drew Bowen, of Columbia.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the First Christian Church in Kennett with the Rev. Gary Mayes officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or the Delta Childrens Home.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kenett was in charge of arrangements.
Michael Kildow
Michael Kildow, 50, of Essex, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Center in Dexter, Mo.
Born Jan. 26, 1952, in Malden, Mo., son of the late Neil and Melba Smith Kildow, he worked at Arvin-Meritor Automotive in Dexter.
On June 21, 1986, in Essex, he married
Sandra Dowdy, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one daughter, Tonya Wilson, of Aid, Mo.; one grandson, Andrew Wilson, of Aid and three sisters, Carlotta Bailey, Betty Kildow and Deborah Goldsmith, all of Malden.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at the Essex cemetery.
Buford Newton
Buford Ives Newton, 80, of Hayti, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at his residence.
Visitation will begin at 6:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home in Hayti.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Quinn officiating.
Burial will follow at the Little Prairie cemetery in Hayti.
Terry Queen
Terry Floyd Queen, 43, of Kennett, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born Dec. 21, 1958, in Missouri, son of the late Charlie and Mollie Crystal Payne Queen, he was a Med Tech.
Survivors include five brothers, James Queen, of Monette, Ark., Zelmer, Jerry and Clinton Queen, all of Kennett and Charles Queen, of Gideon, Mo.; three sisters, Emmalou Springer, of Monette, Sharon Kay Queen, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Patricia Depriest, of Fredericktown, Mo.; one son, Anthony Dewayne Queen, of Gideon and one step-son, Jason Allen Stracener, of Poplar Bluff.
He was preceded in death by one son, Terry F. Queen, Jr. and one brother, Dennis Perkins.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Gregory cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Phillip Bartholomew officiating.

Lloyd Burdin
Lloyd Burdin, 68, of Greenway, Ark., died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born March 3, 1934, in Rector, Ark., he was the son of the late James Estel and Mabel A. Marler Burdin.
Survivors include three brothers, Floyd Burdin, of Greenway and Gerald and Harold Burdin, both of Piggott, Ark. and three sisters, Lillie Owens and Paulette Whitt, both of Piggott and Millie Jasten, of Modesto, Calif.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 3, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. James Dortch officiating.
Burial was in the Woodland cemetery at Rector.
Linda Hampton
Linda Sue Hampton, 58, of Qulin, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at her residence.
