Rose Hendrix
Rose Hendrix, 92, of Bridgeton, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Mark Twain Manor in Bridgeton.
Born Sept. 14, 1910, near Kennett, daughter of the late Oliver and Elizabeth Crites Barks, she was a homemaker and a member of the Spoonerville Baptist Church.
On Aug. 27, 1929, in Cardwell, Mo., she married
Russell Herbert Hendris, who preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1989. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include one son, William F. Hendrix, of O'Fallon, Mo.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Watkin & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Perry Clark officiating.
Burial will follow at the Hagy cemetery in Dexter.
Buford Newton
Buford Ives Newton, 80, of Hayti, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at his residence.
Born Oct. 4, 1921, in Biggers, Ark., son of the late Bennett Ives and Effie Elizabeth Lee Newton, he was a U.S. Army veteran, and a carpenter.
On July 16, 1956, in St. Louis, Mo., he married
Cora Mae Guard, who preceded him in death on Dec. 9, 1979. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Marvin, Rue, Thomas & Gerald Newton and one sister, Edna Troop.
Survivors include one son, Buford Newton, of Jasper, Tenn.; three daughters, Bonita Newton, of Braggadocio, Mo., Joyce Johns, of O'Fallon, Mo. and Carla Newton, of Sikeston, Mo.; one brother, Carl Newton, of Gideon, Mo. and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home in Hayti, with the Rev. Paul Quinn officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie cemetery in Caruthersville, Mo.
Jettie Boyt
Jettie Boyt, 97, of Kennett, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at National Health Care of Kennett.

Mechi Rey Dudley, 40, of Braggadocio, Mo., died Oct. 1, 2002, at her home.
Born June 2, 1962, in San Diego, Calif., a daughter of Ralph King of Wichita Falls, Texas and Betty Morrison King Goetz of San Diego, she was a member of the Braggadocio Baptist Church.
On Aug. 30, 1986, in San Diego, she married
Noel Louis Dudley, who survives of the family home.
Also surviving are two sons, Nathaniel and Cody Dudley of Braggadocio; one daughter, Sunni Dudley of Braggadocio; a brother, Ralph King of San Diego; two sisters, Bambi Watts of Wichita Falls, Texas and Amber King of San Diego and a grandfather, Howard Morrison of San Diego.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at the Braggadocio Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Ault officiating.
Burial was in Pemiscot Memorial Gardens in Caruthersville, Mo. Pallbearers were Buddy Burke, David J. Byrd, James Tilmon, Christopher W. Dudley, Nathaniel L. Dudley and Bruce Grooms.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
Archie Foster
Archie Foster, 67, of Gideon, Mo., died friday, Oct. 4, 200, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.

Verna Howell
Verna Lujean Powell Howell, 86, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Westwood Hills Healthcare in Poplar Bluff.
Born Wednesday, Oct. 4, 1916, in Holland, Mo., a daughter of the late James Franklin and Ola Mae Sample Powell, she was a homemaker and attended the Baptist Church.
On Aug. 10, 1935, she married
Levi Howell who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Paulette Howell, seven brothers, J.R., Rachel, Ed, Truman, Arnold, Hershell and Hillard Powell and a grandson, Wayland Lack.
Survivors include three sons, James Milton Howell of Florida, Robert David Howell of Sweet Water, Tenn. and Ronnie Eugene Howell of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Dola Jean Lack of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Clifford Powell and Bobby Powell, both of Steele, Mo.; and one sister, Mary McClanahan of Blytheville, Ark.
Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. today, Sunday, Oct. 6, at Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele with the Rev. Charles Clark officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Zion cemetery at Steele.
Danny Payne
Danny Lynn Payne, 44, of Hornersville, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at his home.
Born Jan. 3, 1958, in Kennett, a son of Hershel and Evelyn Harder Payne of Rives, Mo.
Other survivors include a son, Greg Lynn Payne of Crawfordsville, Ark.; four brothers, Bryan Payne of Lafayette, La., Russell Payne and Joe Payne of Kennett and Loyd Payne of Atlanta, Ga. and one sister, Sherrie Lynn of Cooter, Mo.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
Burial was in Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers were Larry Conley, David Daniels, Steve Worrell, Parker Worrell, Terry Scott and Danny Davis.
Nellie Price
Nellie Price, 82, of Malden, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at her home.
Visitation will be today, Sunday, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m. in the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at the Landess Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.
Keith Riley
Keith Riley, 30, of Clarkton, Mo. died Thursday, Oct. 3, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
Visitation is 6 p.m. today, Sunday, Oct. 6, at Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at the Landess Chapel with the Rev. William J. MacGregor officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemtery at Clarkton.
Pearl Smith-Killion
Pearl Earline Smith-Killion, 79, of Malden, Mo., died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare-North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born Aug. 21, 1923, in Parsons, Tenn., a daughter of the late Clarence E. and Ira Ann Mary Francis Inman Fullerton, she was affiliated with the Spoonerville Baptist Church at Malden.
On April 18, 1941, at Parma, Mo., she married
William Elmo Smith, who preceded her in death in 1972. On April 12, 1974, she married
George Smith, who preceded her in death Oct. 18, 1989. On July 12, 1991, at Bloomfield, Mo., she married
Earl Killion who survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Demetra Lewis and her husband, Fredrick, of Campbell, Mo.; a son Kevin Smith and his wife, Joyce, of Campbell; two brothers, John Fullerton of Burlison, Texas and Dwaine Fullerton of Portageville, Mo.; and one sister, Jeri Oliver of Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, David Smith; four brothers, Kenneth, Charlie, Roy and Max Fullerton.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Oct. 6, in the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Perry Clark officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.
Johnie Franks
Johnie Franks, 75, of Kennett, died today, Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Linda Hampton
Linda Sue Hampton, 58, of Qulin, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at her residence.
Born March 15, 1944, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., daughter of the late Earl and Jesse Jane Hedge Foster, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
On Nov. 7, 1962, in Piggott, Ark., she married
J.C. Hampton, who preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 2001. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include one son, Bobby Gene Hampton, of Qulin; one daughter, Lisa Hampton, of Mitchell, Ind.; one sister, Shirley Bullock, of Poplar Bluff and four brothers, Jerry, Freddy and Bill Foster, all of Poplar Bluff and Douglas Foster, of Branson, Mo.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, Mo.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Carolla cemetery in Quilin with the Rev. Gary Hancock officiating.
Helen Johnson
Helen Irene Johnson, 76, of Steele, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Dec. 30, 1925, in Holland, Mo., daughter of the late S.A. and Melvina Biggs Tucker, she owned a grocery store and was a member of the Braggadocio Baptist Church in Braggadocio, Mo.
On Dec. 20, 1941, in Caruthersville, Mo., she married
Harley E. Johnson, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one daughter, Connie Jean Ings, of Braggadocio; two grandsons, Derek Richards Ings, of Braggadocio and David Allen Ings, of Caruthersville and one great-granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Ings, of Braggadocio.
She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Johnson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 4, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele with the Rev. John Earl Dunavant officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery at Steele.
