Patricia Darnell

Patricia Sue Darnell, 60, of Braggadocio, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born Aug. 27, 1942, in Anniston, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Raymond C. and Zella Mae Parker Darnell. Survivors include one sister, Delorise A. Bryant, of Braggadocio and two brothers, Russell C. 'Ricky' Darnell, of Braggadocio and Bobby Beck, of Senath, Mo.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home in Caruthersville, Mo. with the Rev. David Boyd officiating.

Burial was in the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens cemetery at Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were Glen Cannon, Paul Wilcox, William Walker, Russell Gilmore, Noel Dudley and Jimmy Pullam.

Arles Davis

Arles Davis, 87, of Kennett, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born July 25, 1915, in Kennett, daughter of the late Grover and Martha Ellen Page Barham, she was a member of the Slicer Street Church of Christ in Kennett.

In 1938, she married Cleo Bernard Davis, who preceded her in death on March 2, 1982. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Sylvester Barham and Clyde Kennedy and two sisters, Pauline Cumpton and Veeda Cumpton.

Survivors include one daughter Dianne Shewmaker, of Bloomington, Ind.; a son-in-law, Sherman Shewmaker; two grandchildren, Scott and Brooke Shewmaker and two great-grandchildren, Audrey Elizabeth and Cleo Shewmaker. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Slicer Street Church of Christ in Kennett with Dr. Russ Burcham officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Clyde Swanson, David Cumpton, Chester Folkes, Bill Biggs, Frank Farless, Larry McDowell and Charles Archer.

Honorary pallbearers were Jim and Ray Davis and the Dorcas Ladies.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.

Lesa Harris

Lesa G. Harris, 40, of Kennett, died today, Oct. 22, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.

Betty LaMar

Betty Jo LaMar, 73, of Gideon, Mo., died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark. Born Dec. 12, 1928, in Kennett, daughter of the late Claude and Reva Lincoln Jaques, she was a member of the Church of Christ in Gideon.

On June 15, 1946, in St. Louis, Mo., she married William 'Jack' LaMar, who preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1996. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, W.J. 'Buster' and Clyde Jacques and Bob, Gene and Glenn Jaques.

Survivors include one son, Randy LaMar and wife, Debra, of Gideon; two daughters, Janet Dockins and husband, Terry, of Clarkton, Mo. and Joanie Hutton and husband, Vance, of Double Springs, Ala.; three sisters, Louise Padfield, of St. Louis, Geraldine Emery, of Memphis, Tenn. and Maxine Bomar, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with Vance Hutton officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Park cemetery at Malden.

Anna Mayes

Anna May Mayes, 78, of Memphis, Tenn., died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at Methodist Hospital Central in Memphis.

Born in Hornersville, Mo., she was an employee of General Electric in Jonesboro, Ark. and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro.

She married Elmer Mayes, who preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Scott Mayes, of Memphis and Craig Mayes, of Cabot, Ark.; one sister, Helen Hoffner, of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Carl Mabry, of St. Louis and one grandson, Joshua Mayes, of Jonesboro.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Jonesboro Memorial Park cemetery in Jonesboro.

Memorials may be made to the Hope House, P.O. Box 41437, Memphis, Tn. 38127-4137 or to the Methodist Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 42048, Memphis, Tn. 38174.

Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.

Ruby Owens

Ruby Lee Owens, 85, of Bernie, Mo., died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Giarardeau, Mo.

Born May 23, 1917, in Malden, Mo., daughter of the late Albert Motto and Bessie Ren Henderson Horn, she was a homemaker and worked for the ABC Badge & Emblem Company. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bernie.

On Aug. 3, 1969, in Los Angeles, Calif, she married Darrell V. Owens, who preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 2002. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Horn and one sister, Corene Griffin.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Schneider and husband, Dick, of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Alma Blades, of Malden; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Susan Marner-Sides officiating.

Burial was in the Park cemetery at Malden.

Lillie Pierce

Lillie Ester Pierce, 72, of Cooter, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti, Mo.

Born Jan. 20, 1930, in Florence Ala., daughter of the late James McKinney and Chattie Lee Murphy, she was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith.

She marrie Cloyde E. Pierce, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Pierce; two grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her companion, Jim Anderson, of Cooter; five daughters, Mary Tucker, of Hernando, Fla., Claudia Burton, of Mena, Ark., Pat Underwood and Tricia Benson, both of Holland, Mo. and Betty Duncan, of Steele, Mo.; three sons, James and Arthur Pierce, both of Cooter and Johnny Pierce, of Rogers, Ark. one sister, Kathleen Bragg, of Steele; 23 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele with the Rev. Gary Andrews, Sr. officiating.

Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery at Steele.

George Tucker

George Edwin Tucker, 69, of Senath, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. Born April 21, 1933, in Hollywood, Mo., he was the son of the late L.F. and Minta Long Tucker.

He married Rosie Aline Harmon, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 27, 1976, in Kennett, he married Deronda Jackson, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one son, Billy 'Butch' Tucker and wife, Brenda, of Senath; two daughters, Deborah Finley and husband, Wes, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Cheryle Tucker-Loewe and husband, Kris, of Glen Carbon, Ill.; three brothers, Randall Tucker, of Enterprise, Ala., Burnell Tucker, of Elsinore, Mo. and Lee Tucker, of Festus, Mo.; one sister, Genevieve Holligan, of Festus and four grandchildren, Amy and Joshua Tucker, Hannah Finley and Caleb Tucker Loewe.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Tucker; one brother and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with the Rev. Dale Rickman and Greg Pollock officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett. Pallbearers were Harold Lee Watson, Bobby Deck, Gary Renfrow, Ben Bowman, Larry Conley and David Hanners.

Eddie Cagle

Funeral services for Eddie C. 'Sonny' Cagle, 65, of Wardell, Mo., will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at the Word of Victory Church in Portageville, Mo., with the Rev. Reginald Grant officiating.

Burial, with full military honors, will be in the Woodlawn cemetery at Hayti, Mo.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Sunday, Oct. 20, at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti.

He was the husband of Wanda Cagle.

Arles Davis

Arles Davis, 87, of Kennett, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Arrangements incomplete with McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett.

John Gee

John Junior Gee, 79, of Parma, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 18, at his home.

Born Oct. 7, 1923, in Parma, a son of the late Lum and Eva Jenkins Gee, he served as alderman and city marshall and as municipal judge for Gideon, Matthews, Parma, Risco and Tallapoosa. A graduate of Parma High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

On April 12, 1947, in Denver, Colo. he married M. Lorraine Miller, who survives.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Parma.

Graveside services will follow at 11 a.m. in the Parma cemetery with the Rev. John Girdley officiating.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Parma.

James Hartsoe

James Clinton Hartsoe, 72, of Senath, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Senath Nursing Center in Senath.

Born Dec. 30, 1929, in Cardwell, Mo., he was a son of the late Newton Other and Shelly Ragan Hartsoe.

Survivors include a brother, Royce Hartsoe of Pontiac, Mich. and a cousin, Dewey Hyde of Harviell.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, in the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Buster Griggs officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Charles Pitts

Charles Alvin Pitts, 61, of New Caney, Texas, and formerly of Pemiscot County, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at his home.

Born Nov. 14, 1940, at Portageville, Mo., a son of the late Jay Ralph and Ila Lee Fisher Pitts, he was a school teacher in Michigan, the Panama Canal Zone and Australia.

Survivors include five sisters, Doris Blough and husband, Ralph, of Risco, Mo., Violet Kimball and husband, Glenn, of Plaistow, N.H., Deloyma and husband, Bob, of Ballwin, Mo., Peggy Neimeier and husband, Dan, of St. Louis, and Brenda Thompson of Arnold, Mo.; two brothers, Calvin Pitts and wife, Carol, of Festus, Mo. and Jerry Pitts of St. Louis; a special friend, Betty Jo Yeary of New Caney.

Graveside services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Dry Bayou cemetery north of Hayti with the Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating.

Pallbearers were Ralph Blough, Brett Kimball, Glenn Kimball, Don Neimeier, Mike Pitts, Bob Ramsey, Randy Ramsey, Jeff Thompson and Justin Thompson.

John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.

George Tucker George Tucker, 69, of Senath, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 19, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
