Emma Bogue
Emma Bogue, 76, of Kennett, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Feb. 17, 1925, in DeSota, Mo., she was the daughter of the late John and Hanna Mundanick Gowan.
She married
Franklin Harold Bogue, who preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1998.
Survivors include one brother, Fritz Gowan, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and one sister, Marie Herrington, of Kennett.
She was preceded in death by one brother, John Gowan, Sr.
Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. today, Wednesday, Nov., 14, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ben Jordan officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers were Tom Noah, Tim Simmons, Dan Baird, Wimp Tackleberry, Bud Broadway and John Lyle.
William Davis, Jr.
William C. Davis, Jr., 34, of San Antonio, Texas, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in San Antonio.
Born Nov. 10, 1966, in Nacogdoches, Texas, he was the son of Dianne Creel, of Steele, Mo. and the late William C. Davis, Sr.
Survivors also include two sisters, Thyra Lee, of Steele and Chayla Hamilton, of Metairie, La.; one brother, Gregory Davis, of Denver, Colo.; his grandmother, Dovie Absher, of Peaster, Texas; four uncles, six aunts and his life companion, Pilar Correa.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Roy Akers Funeral Chapels in San Antonio.
Hattie Earls
Hattie LaVennia Rikard Earls, 79, of Kennett, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at the Northeast Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born Dec. 20, 1921, in Hornersville, Mo., daughter of the late Amanuel and Hattie Mills Rickard, she was a homemaker, a charter member of the Bootheel Area Senior Citizens where she served as secretary of the Board of Directors for over 15 years. She was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church.
On April 15, 1940, she married
James Hassell Chailland, Jr., who preceded her in death. She later married
A.J. Earls on June 29, 1963, in Braggadocio, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Donald Chailland, of New Orleans, La. and James Hassell Chailland and wife, Connie Jo, of Wentzville, Mo.; one daughter, Charlotte Gore and husband, Paul, of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Francis Marie Bowman and husband, Jess, of St. Peters, Mo.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, seven brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Revs. Jim Lewis and J. Daniel Fulbright officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery at Steele, Mo.
Pallbearers were Jaime, Mitch and Tony Chailland, Robert Long, Brock Atwill, Dale Beatty and Jerry Davis.
Memorials may be made to the Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Carnell Sowell
Carnell Sowell, 84, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at the Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.
Visitation wil be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Irene Bell
Irene Bell, 79, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at her residence.
Born Jan. 11, 1922, in Shirley, Ark., daughter of the late John Rue Allen and Ida Melissa Gooden Williams, she was a charter member of the Third Street Baptist Church in Kennett.
On May 25, 1940, in Caruthersville, Mo., she married
Elvis Bell, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Michael Bell and wife, Judy, of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter, Rebecca Chailland and husband, Butch, of Caruth, Mo.; one brother, Bruce Williams, of Paragould, Ark.; one sister, Betty Garner, of Valdosta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Scott Chailland, of Stewart, Fla., Brett Chailland, of Caruth, Michael Bell, of Kennett and Amy Scheihing, of Springfield; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Link and Carl Williams and two sisters, Jean Dalton and Grace Taylor.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Memorial Gardens cemetery with the Rev. Bud Evans officiating.
Pallbearers were Mike Mowrer, Tommy Kelley, Keith Kirby, Rick and Mike Bell and Brett Chailland.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
Macle Davidson
Macle Louise Ford Davidson, 69, of Florissant, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at St. Sophia Health & Rehabilitation in Florissant.
Born June 24, 1932, in Braggadocio, Mo., daughter of the late John Theodore and Mettie Florence Jowers Ford, she attended Braggadocio Schools.
On Sept. 12, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., she married
Lee L. Davidson, who preceded her in death on June 10, 1991.
Survivors include one daughter, Dotty Hohlt, of Hazelwood, Mo.; two sons, Kelvin Davidson, of Hazelwood and Jeffrey Davidson, of Ferguson, Mo. and one granddaughter, Shannon Taylor, of Florissant.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville, Mo. with Dr. James Adams officiating.
Burial was in the Maple cemetery at Caruthersville.

Maggie Jackson, 100, of Senath, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at the Senath Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Purser officiating.

Carnell Sowell
Carnell Sowell, 84, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at the Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.
Born Nov. 9, 1917, in Kennett, he was the son of the late Arthur Edward and Rosie Mae Evans Mills.
On March 28, 1936, he married
Pleas Sowell, who preceded him in death on Feb. 15, 1994.
Survivors include one son, Bob Sowell and wife, Laurie, of Kennett; two granddaughters, Emily Dawn and Amy Elizabeth Sowell, both of Jonesboro, Ark. and three sisters, Julia Maxine Yadon, of Ardmore, Okla., Joyce Nutt, of Benton, Miss. and Carol Burns, of Homa La.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Bud Mills.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 15, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Les Jackson and Elder Short Walker officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.

Bonnie Dawson
Bonnie Mitchell Dawson, 78, of Florissant, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at the Manor Care Nursing Home in Florissant.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Bertha Floyd
Bertha "Doe" Floyd, 69, of Senath, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at her residence.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 16, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Senath Church of Christ with Rev. Dale Rickman and Greg Pollock officiating.
Burial will follow at the Lulu cemetery in Senath.
Bob Grady
Bob "Catfish" Grady, 84, of Cardwell, Mo., died Nov. 10, 2001, at Paragould, Ark.
Born Sept. 4, 1917, in Bertig, Ark., along the St. Francis River, son of the late Edgar Houston and Nettie Mae Sorrell Grady, he lived on a small farm near Cardwell and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific, Northern Solomons, Marshall Islands, Makin Island, the Gilberts and Hawaii. Mr. Grady was an outstanding Army baseball player, playing for the troopers in Hawaii as a pitcher, an avid hunter, and enjoyed fishing on the St. Francis River and also enjoyed playing checkers.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Watanabe, of Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii; two sons, Dallas Wantanabe, of Kilanea, Hawaii and Russell Grady, of Lihue; one daughter, Loretta Kikumoto, of Kapaa, Hawaii; two sisters, Mary Jane Burrell and Viola Draffen, both of Cardwell; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Larkin and Lois Jackson and Jim Dee Grady.
His ashes were scattered on the St. Francis River.
