Elmer Goddard
Elmer Goddard, 93, of Kennett, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Sept. 13, 1909, in Bear Creek, Ala., a son of the late George Washington and Lucy Mae Bull Goddard, he was a member of Slicer Street Church of Christ in Kennett.
On Nov. 1, 1941, in O'Keena, Mo., he married
Beatrice Lillie Brock who preceded him in death July 29, 1992.
Survivors include a son, Mark Goddard of Kennett; a daughter, Carolyn Calvery of Flippin, Ark.; a sister, Ola Gardner of Michigan; two grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Dec. 8, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with Spencer Furby officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers are Leonard Boggs, Gaylon Mullins, Larry McDowell, Tracy Smith, Charles Archer and Rick Gore.
Vivian Joiner
Vivian Joiner, 80, of Cedar Hill, Mo., died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Cedar Hill Manor in Cedar Hill.
Born Dec. 14, 1921, at Senath, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Rosie Wilkins Smithwick.
She married
Lenuel Loal Joiner who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Edmond Smithwick.
Survivors include three children, Loal Lenuel Joiner of Kansas City, Mo.; Charlotte G. Meadows of Valley Park, Mo. and Gary E. Joiner and wife, Janet, of Ellington, Mo.; three sisters, Rosemond Atkerson of St. Charles, Mo., Gail Grow of Michigan and Dorothy Hayes of Dyersburg, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. today, Sunday, Dec. 8, at Chapel Hill Mortuary in High Ridge, Mo. until time of services at 3 p.m.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9., in Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Effie Luye
Effie Mae Luye, 83, of rural Bragg City, Mo., died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born May 22, 1919, at Roger Springs, Tenn., daughter of the late John and Edna Antwine Luna Daniel, she was a homemaker.
On Jan. 31, 1948, in Caruthersville, Mo., she married
Harold L. Luye who survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Rita Luye of Bragg City and Marcia Thornton of Collierville, Tenn.; a sister, Sue Buechler of Columbia, Mo. and three granddaughters, Keri Harper and Amanda Thornton, both of Collierville and Amber Luye of Bragg City.
She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Luye.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Brother Tommy Day officiating.
Burial was in Pemiscot Memorial Gardens at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Randy Luye, Richard Luye, Joe Luye, Kevin Barnes, Eric Luye and Brian Luye.
Charles Grady
Charles William Grady, 74, of Cardwell, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Ark.
Born July 11, 1928, in Cardwell, son of the late William E. and Sarethna Newsom Grady, Jr., he was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Emerson Electric Company. He attended Poole Street Church of Christ in Cardwell.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Grady, of Cardwell; one son, John Craig Grady, of Marion, Ark.; two daughters, Frances Lynn Rogers, of Sikeston, Mo. and Mary Kay Sheppard, of Dewitt, Ark.; one brother, James Grady, of Milford, Mich.; four sisters, Terry Coy, of Benton, Ark., Earline Futrell, of Paragould, Billy Wayne Parker, of Blue Field, W.Va and Mary Helen Vaughn, of Cardwell and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John E. Grady.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Heath Funeral Home in Paragould.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the Heath Colonial Chapel with the Revs. Dwight Harrison and Herbert Knight officiating.
Burial will follow at the Cardwell cemetery.
Pallbearers are Craig and Adam Grady, Bill Rogers, Bill Cunningham, Nick Stutts and Charles Johnston.
Memorials may be made to the Cardwell cemetery.
Marlene Guedry
Marlene Smith Guedry, 61, of St. Amant, La., formerly of Kennett, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Our Lady of the lake.
She married
Lionel Gudery, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include thre daughters, Myrna Posey and husband, Hugh, of West Monroe, La., Sandra Guedry, of St. Amant and Pam Guedry, of Lafayette, La.; two sisters, Gearline Stacy and Linda Atnip; two brothers, Jerry Smith and Danny Smith and wife, Sharlene and three grandchildren, Miranda, Alan and Matthew Posey, all of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Smith.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Burial was in the Holy Rosary cemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews.
Welsh Funeral Home of Gonzales was in charge of arrangements.
Stella Helgren
Stella Gray Nichols Helgren, 92, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at the Malden Nursing Care Center.
Born Dec. 25, 1909, in Crowell, Texas, daughter of the late James Andrew and Amanda Thompson Gray, she was a houswife and a former elementary school teacher. She was a member of the Malden Church of the Nazerene and a member of the Carnation Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Malden.
She married
William Sterling Nichols, who preceded her in death on May 16, 1968 and later married
Edwin A. Helgren, who pdreceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1988. She was also preceded in death by one sister and seven brothers.
Survivors include one sister, Mary Hester Edwards, of Dexter, Mo. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. John Bowlby officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial park cemetery at Malden.

Robert Lile
Dr. Robert "Bob: Warren Lile, 80, of Jonesboro, Ark., died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Son of Dr. Henry J. and Kathleen Lile, he was a U.S. Marine veteran during WWII, he practiced general denistry , began a internship and residency in oral maxillofacial surgery at Louisiana State University and was a member of the First Christian Church in Jonesboro. He was a member of the Arkansas Dental Association, American Dental Association, the Southwestern Society of Oral Surgeons, past president of the Arkansas Society of Oral Surgeons, a lifetime honorary member of the American Medical Association and served as a board member of the Boy Scouts of America.
He married
Wilma Massey, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include four daughters, Ann Lile Castle, of Harrisburg, Lee Lile Poindexter, of Kennett, Robin Lile Kaloghirou, of Jonesboro and Mary Lile Broadaway, of Paragould, Ark.; one sister, Sunshine Lile Hoffman, of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren, Daniel and Joseph Childers and Maria Kaloghirou, all of Little Rock, Ark., Robert and Anna Kaloghirou, both of Jonesboro and Jack, Whit and Lily Broadaway, all of Paragould; one great-grandchild; six step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the First Christian Church in Jonesboro with the Rev. Jerry Wilcox and Lee Massey officiating.
There will be a private burial.
Honorary pallbearers are Colonel Hal A. Detrick, Bill Roberts, Bruce Moore, Jim Turney, Herbert Parker, Kent Vivrette, Bud Little, Frank Snellgrove, Michael Ledbetter, Erick Isaacson, Dr. Richard Burns, J.C. Sam Moore, 76, of Malden, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at the Gideon Care Center in Gideon, Mo.

Monzelle Mumma
Monzelle Mumma, 84, of Topeka, Kan., formerly of the Senath, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at the McCrite Care Center in Topeka.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at the McDaniel Fuenral Home in Senath.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob McNabb officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Christine Tucker
Christine R. Tucker, 80, of Kennett, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born April 8, 1922, in Kennett, she was the daughter of the late Morgan and Aoma Starnes Layden.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Mungle and Rick Turner, both of Kennett; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral servicecs were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapelin Kennett with the Rev. Don Emery officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Greg Mungle, Tim Yarbrough, Chris and James Tucker, Gene Glover and Billy Tansil.
