Arcel Knuckles
Arcel E. Knuckles, 63, of Malden, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at his residence.
Born May 28, 1939, in Canalou, Mo., son of Stella Downs Knuckles, of Sikeston, Mo. and the late Hershel Knuckles, he was in the National Guard and was a maintenance mechanic for the Sikeston Power Plant. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Malden.
On Jan. 16, 1987, in Morehouse, Mo., he married
Sharon Sue Brown, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two daughters, Cindy Jones and husband, Shannon, of Sikeston and Tammy Tucker and husband, Michael, of Kennett; two sons, Darren Knuckles and wife, Amanda, of Fruitland, Mo. and Brian Knuckles and wife, Tracey, of Calvert City, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Whitney Jones, Jordan, Lance, Nicholas and Quinten Knuckles, Ali Tucker and Garner Bishop; three step-children, Ladonna Silman and Jason Bryant, both of Malden and Carlin Glass, of Bernie, Mo.; four step-grandchildren, Samantha Silman, Cassandra Kirkpatrick, Christopher Bryant and Sahara Glass; three sisters, Arlene Kirby, of Dexter, Mo., Carolyn Moore, of Sikeston and Donna Mallott, of Kennett and three brothers, Lloyd and Rick Knuckles, both of Sikeston and Ronnie Knuckles, of Dexter.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the First Pentecostal Church in Malden with the Rev. Leroy Young officiating.
Burial was in the Rosewood cemetery-1st Addition at Malden.
Landess Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
C.Y. Borah
C.Y. George Borah, 87, died Monday, Dec. 16, at the Life Care Nursing Center in Tuscon, Ariz.
Born July 18, 1915 in Cardwell. Mo., he was the son of the late Francis Erbby and Millie Jane Bryant Borah.
On Jan. 30, 1941 in Senath, Mo. he married
Alphia Louise, who preceded him in death on Feb. 15, 2001.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Gary Borah; two brothers, Lilburn and James Borah; one sister, Louis Ray; and one grandson, Tracy Borah.
Survivors include three sons, Lee Borah and wife, Barb, of Oak Ridge, Mo., Frank Borah and wife, Norine, and Mike Borah and wife, Kayleen, all of Richland, Mich.; two daughters, Terry Wellman and husband, Pete, and Lynn Breen and husband Bill, all of Tucson; one sister, Helen Homer of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 21 at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with the Revs. Vernon Purser and Chuck Pipkins officiating. Burial was in the McGrew cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jamie Montgomery, Kent Montgomery, Joe Stanfill and David Kitchens.
Johnny Byrd
Johnny Mitchell Byrd, 87, of Kennett, died Thursday, Dec. 19 at Senath Nursing Center in Senath, Mo.
Born March 19, 1915 in Russellville, Ark., he was the son of the late W.J. "Will" and Fannie Belle Byrd. He was a retired shoe cobbler and a member of the Arbyrd Church of Christ.
He married
Belle Hogland Byrd, who preceded him in death.
Graveside services were 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Mt. Zion cemetery in Walcott, Ark. with C.O. Evans officiating.
Donald Goldsmith
Donald Goldsmith, 70, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Thursday, Dec. 19 at Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Poplar Bluff.
Born Dec. 19, 1932, in Campbell, Mo. he was the son of the late Charles Earl and Flora Ellen Emery Goldsmith. He was retired from Lyon Metal.
On Dec. 2, 1966 at Plano, Ill. he married
Mima Louise Neeley, who preceded him in death on Aug. 1, 1998. On March 30, 1999, he married
Ada Myers at Poplar Bluff, who survives of the home.
He was also survived by three sons, Donald Gene Goldsmith and wife, Judith, of Byron, Ill., Dee Jay Goldsmith of Miami, Fla. and Mike Goldsmith of Earlville, Ill.; two brothers, Gene Goldsmith and wife, Sarah, of Plano, and Floyd Goldsmith and wife, Lou, of Kansas; one sister, Marie Peterson and husband, Pete, of Campbell, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Robert Turney Goldsmith, Jeffrey Donald Goldsmith and Mark Williams Goldsmith, all of Byron.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Goldsmith; three brothers, Charles, Ronnie and Dale Goldsmith; three sisters, Dorothy Fletcher, Dolly Goldsmith and Katie Tune.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Sunday, Dec. 22, at Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell with Rev. Lester Galbraith officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery -- Landess Addition at Campbell.
Carrie Harris
Carrie Harris, 87, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born March 30, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Henry Olds and Annie Bell Ferguso Olds. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Harris and one brother, Henry Olds.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Dec. 19 at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Jones officiating.
Burial was in Morgan Ridge cemetery in Caruthersville, Mo.
Francis Kelly
Francis "Ninny" Kelly, 71, of Clarkton, Mo. died Friday, Dec. 20, a Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. today, Sunday, Dec. 22 at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon, Mo.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Gideon with Rev. Richard Blagg officiating.
Burial will be in the Stanfield cemetery at Clarkton.
Ronald Abmeyer, Sr.Faye Barnes
Faye Barnes, 67, of Kennett, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born July 23, 1935, in Parma, Mo., daughter of the late Narvel Madden and Maude Geary, she was Chapter Representative for the American Red Cross.
She married
Robert H. "Bobby" Barnes, who preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1977. She was also preceded in death by one son, Sidney "Lee" Barnes, two sisters, Marge Jones and Imogene Stanton and one bother, James Madden.
Survivors include five grandchildren, Shannon Barnes Rodriquez and Christopher and Richie Barnes, all of Kennett, Jamie Barnes, of Montgomery, Ala. and Sidney Barnes, of Lilbourn, Mo. and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Charles James officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett. Pallbearers were James E. Reed, James E. Reed, II, Michael Shipley, Jason Duke and Ronald and Hughey Higgins.
Curtis Beck
Curtis M. Beck, 96, of St. Louis, Mo., died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Heritage Park Skilled Care Center in Rolla, Mo.
Born July 14, 1906, in Malden, Mo., son of the late Jake and Allie Hampton Beck, he was a truck driver, a lifetime member of the Teamsters Union and a member of the Bayless Baptist Church in St. Louis.
He married
Vivian Paul and later married
Janette Hambee. Both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Avonell King; two brothers, Dee and Hiram Beck and four sisters, Annie Walters, Mary Dale, Ruby Holtzhouser and Birdie Heck.
Survivors include one son, Buddy Beck and wife, Charlotte, of Fairfax Station, Va.; one step-daughter, Shirley Hambee, of Crocker, Mo.; one sister, Helen Wiggs, of Hilton Head, S.C.; two grandchildren, Debie Corbatto, of Fairfax and Michael Beck, of Colleyville, Texas and four great-grandchildren, Matthew and Emily Nolan and Allie and Zachary Beck.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Ron Shrum officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Park cemetery at Malden.
Geneva Brand
Geneva Pauline Brand, 66, of Danville, Ark., formerly of Kennett, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, Ark.
Born Aug. 27, 1936, in Kennett, daughter of the late Harold Harm and Ella Mae McNew Litaker, she was a homemaker and retired from Wayne Poultry in Danville.
She married
Robert William Brand, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one step-son, George Brand; one step-daughter, Betty Abernathy and one sister, Lola Burrows.
Survivors include three sons, Jackie Brand and Roger Brand and wife, Laurie, all of Danville and Keith Brand, of Havana; three step-sons, Emmanuel Brand, of Club, Mo., Ronald Brand, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. and Larry Brand, of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; four step-daughters, Edna Hargate and Dian Keenan, both of Rockford, Ill., Virginia Abernathy, of LaCenter, Ky. and Peggy Corneilson, of Osceola, Fla.; one brother, Buck Litaker, of Danville, Ark.; two sisters, Pearlie Graddy, of Burbon, Mo. and Freda Carter, of Kennett and three grandchildren, Barry, Tabatha and Ryan Brand, all of Danville.
Visitation and a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, at the Cornwell Funeral Home in Danville with the Rev. Charlie Bird officiating.
Burial will be in Kennett.

Charleen Crook, 94, of Malden, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Mo.

Floyd Cleo "Pete" Decker, 66, of Hayti, Mo., died, Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Bowld Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home in Hayti.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at the Woodlawn cemetery in Hayti with the Rev. Paul Quinn officiating.

Wilma Doherty, 61, of Kennett, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

John Ellis Glidwell, 80, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at his residence.

Eula Ham
Eula Agnes Ham, 88, of Kennett, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Jan. 8, 1914, in Holcomb, Mo., daughter of the late Roy Lee and Effie Mae Davis Mead, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
On Sept. 24, 1928, in Holcomb, she married
Calyou Franklin Ham, who preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1985. She was also preceded in death by one son, J.C. Ham and one infant son; three brothers, Robert, James and Samuel Mead and two sisters, Lela Johnson and Virginia Garrett.
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Davidson, of Kennett and Peggy Nagy, of Piggott, Ark.; three sons, Lynn Ham, of Ellsinore, Mo., Billy Ham, of Ocala, Fla. and Samuel Ham, of Blytheville, Ark.; one sister, Alice Greer, of Winter Haven, Fla.; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Charles Smith officiating.
Burial was in the Stanfield cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.
