Virginia King Long
Sept. 27, 1914-June 23, 2004
Virginia King Long passed away June 23, 2004, in Clinton, Tenn.
Virginia King was born Sept. 27, 1914, to Lois Prater King and Issac Spencer King in Pineville, Mo.
She graduated from Pineville High School in 1931. After graduation she worked in her Aunt Elizabeth Worley's beauty salons.
Virginia married Frank Chambers in 1936 and shortly after moved to Tennessee, his home state. They enjoyed the rural life there until his death in 1985. For the past four years Virginia lived at Hermitage Gardens Assisted Living in Clinton, Tenn.
Virginia was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Ada Bayne of Pineville, Mo., a nephew, Gene Bayne of Joplin, Mo., many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She lived a long and full life and was blessed with a beautiful and loving nature. Once when asked what she knew for sure, Virginia replied "I know how little I know. Life passes us by quickly and we don't take advantage of what's there. Do now the things that make you happy!" She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Graveside services will be held in Clinton, Texas, to Thomas Clay Martin and Sarepta Alice (Freeman) Martin. The Rev. Martin moved to this area in 1971. He was a Southern Baptist minister for 50 years. He served as pastor of the Splitlog Baptist Church for 20 years and retired in 1991. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and taught at Crowder Vo-tech for 10 years.
He and Mary Alice Vines were married Feb. 8, 1947, in Hereford, Colo., Judith Maye Haines, San Anselmo, Texas; four brothers, Thomas Clay Martin, Jr., Orlanda, Fla., Jesse Billie Martin, Sulphur Springs, Texas, and Ralph Freeman Martin, Amarillo, Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune on T.V. She attended the Church of Today in Pea Ridge and is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors are four brothers, Edward Harold Fletcher and wife Elizabeth Faye, Ernest Denver Fletcher and wife Ethel Maye, Farrel Gene Fletcher and wife Virginia, and Jimmy Ray Fletcher and wife Kay all of Jacket, Mo.; two sisters, Edith Lorene Tidwell and husband Rick of Rogers, and Evelyn Marie Fletcher of Pineville, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews, friends and her church family.
Funeral was set for Monday, June 28, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Today in Pea Ridge with Pastor Brian Tidwell officiating. Burial was at the Pea Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.
Visitation was set for Sunday, June 27, 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
LaDonna Manke
Oct. 26, 1965-June 24, 2004
LaDonna Kay Manke, 38, of Goodman, Mo., died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at 4:15 p.m. at her home after an illness.
LaDonna Manke was born Oct. 26, 1965, in Stella, Mo., to the late Perry Joe Rodney and Sharon Kay (Sutton) Rodney. She lived most of her life in Goodman, Mo. She was a member of the Racine Christian Church. She worked at O’Sullivans in Lamar, Mo., for 13 years, returning to Goodman three years ago.
She married Brian Manke April 5, 1999, in Barton County. He survives of the home in Goodman, Mo. Additional survivors include her mother, Sharon Rodney of Neosho, Mo.; one stepson, David Brian Manke of Golden City, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Erica Brooke Manke of Golden City, Mo.; one sister, Michelle Renee Embrey of Stella, Mo., and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for LaDonna Manke were held Monday, June 28, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. The Rev. John Sinclair officiated. Burial was in the Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson, MO. There was no visitation.
