Jackson: Mary Lou Ramsey, age 48, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at her home. Services are private. McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of arrangements. Mary Lou was born April 10, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri, daughter of Wilbert Williams and Sylvia Noce. Survivors include her son, Bryan Ramsey of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Karen Ahrens, mother, Sylvia Noce of Jackson; four brothers, George Williams and Randy Noce of Jackson, Edward Williams of Scott City, Donald Williams of Buffalo, Oklahoma; and three sisters, Betty McCart, Ruth Roth, Terri Noce all of Cape Girardeau; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father.
Raised in Oak Ridge, Mary was a 1972 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. Upon returning to the area, she worked at Cape County Transit and most recently the Monticello House.

Katrina M. “Trina” Krumrie

Katrina M. “Trina” Krumrie, age 23, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in Cape Girardeau, in a tragic house fire. Friends may call Thursday, March 13th, between 4-8 PM, at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral Service will be Friday, March 14th, at 10 AM, at the funeral home, followed by interment in Russell Heights Cemetery. Rev. Rob Mehner will officiate. Trina was born July 30, 1979, in Dover, Delaware, daughter of Wayne and Vicky Shockley. She graduated from Dover High School and moved to Jackson in December, 2001. She had been attending Southeast Missouri State University the past year and was working toward a degree in elementary education. She was employed at Applebee’s Restaurant in Cape Girardeau and attended LaCroix United Methodist Church. Loving survivors include her parents and little sister, Cori, all of Jackson. Cori and Trina, whom Cori called, “best big sister,” thoroughly enjoyed each other and spent time together as often as possible. Other survivors are a stepbrother, Wayne Shockley, Jr. of Dover; stepsister, Amy Stup of Massey, Maryland; maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Chester Walter of Jackson; paternal grandfather, Bob Shockley of Chestertown, Maryland; a maternal aunt, Lisa Walter of Park City, Utah, to whom Trina was very close; and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Rudolph Reinhold “Rudy” Kranawetter, age 83, of Oak Ridge, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2003, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. Friends may call Saturday, March 8th, between 4-8 PM, at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with a 7 PM prayer service, and Sunday, March 9th, after 12 PM, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim. Funeral Service will be Sunday at 1 PM, at the church, followed by interment in the church cemetery. Rev. David M. Burge will officiate. Rudy was born June 12, 1919 at Pocahontas, Missouri, son of Joseph A. and Pauline M. Wittshieben Kranawetter. He and Marjorie L. Baker were married in 1939. She passed away in 1947. In 1971, he and Bernetta Sides were married. She survives. Other loving survivors include a son Willard Kranawetter and wife Vivian of Friedheim; stepson, Gary Sides and wife Pam of St. Charles, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Doris Keethler and husband Ron of St. Peters and Lori Light and husband Donnie of Perryville; and a brother, Herb Kranawetter of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Lisa May, Becky Unger, Ralph Kranawetter, and Beth Anderson; six step-grandchildren, Scott Sides, Shawn Sides, Mike Keethler, Cherie Nuss, Jessica Light, and Ryan Light; six great-grandchildren, Shannon May, Anthony May, Bobby Unger, Dusty Unger, Lexie Anderson, Drew Kranawetter; and three great-step-grandchildren, Amber Keethler, Maylee Keethler, and Clayton Sides. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Bodenschatz; one brother; and three sisters.
Rudy farmed near Oak Ridge all his life. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim.

Funeral Service will be Sunday, March 9th, at 2 PM, at the funeral home, followed by interment in Russell Heights Cemetery. Rev. Robert Henrichs will officiate. Dorothy was born March 8, 1921 in Whitewater, Missouri, daughter of William L. and Della L. Smith Kinder. She and John W. King, Sr. were married April 20, 1946. He passed away July 31, 1993. Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sue King; one daughter, Betty Ann Fox; one brother, Howard Kinder; and three grandsons, Bill, Kevin, and James King; and five great-grandchildren all of Jackson. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. On April 15, 1954, Dorothy was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, where she remained a member until her death. In 1989, after 19 years of employment, she retired from Lee Rowan in Jackson. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson and the VFW Auxiliary in Cape Girardeau. Geraldine “Dean” Sides, age 89, formerly of Burfordville, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at the Carroll House in Carrollton, Missouri. Friends may call Friday, March 7th, after 1 PM, at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral Service will be at 2 PM at the funeral home, followed by interment in Old Apple Creek Cemetery at Pocahontas. Rev. Patrick Tankersly will officiate. Dean was born March 17, 1913 in Portageville, Missouri, daughter of Marcus and Lula Combs. She and Garnett “Bud” Sides were married August 7, 1932 in Scott City, Missouri. He passed away January 14, 1990. Loving survivors include her daughter-in-law, Virginia Sides; and two grandchildren, Greg Sides and Robyn Spangler all of Carrollton; three great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded by her son; six brothers; and two sisters.
Formerly of Leeman, Dean and Bud moved to Burfordville in 1946, where they owned and operated the former Sides Grocery for ten years and Dean did sewing in their home. In 1996, she moved to Carrollton to be near her family.

Ellen B. Clippard

Jackson: Ellen B. Clippard, age 96, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at the Jackson Manor Nursing Home in Jackson. She was born November 21, 1906 at Oriole, the daughter of Fred and Bertha Sides Abernathy. She and Truman Clippard were married July 25, 1927. He died March 10, 1993. Ellen was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, where she participated in the JOY Choir, WMU organization, and was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. She also was a former Sunday School teacher and had worked with the Y.W.A. girls. Ellen’s other affiliations are membership in Eastern Star Chapter 91 of Jackson, where she had received her 50 year pin; and the Jackson Senior Center where she formerly enjoyed doing volunteer work. Her working career included two years of teaching at Old Salem School and 25 years as manager of the cafeteria department of Jackson R-2 School District. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Shirley Clippard of Sarasota, FL, and Bob and Mattie Clippard of Jackson; three sisters, Virginia Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau, Norma Thompson of Sun City, AZ, and Betty Collischonn of Forestville, CA; Seven grandchildren, Rev. David Clippard of Jefferson City, Elaine Dworaczyk of Seguin, TX, Dean Clippard of Frisco, TX, Tim and Mike Clippard both of Jackson, Sue LeGrand of Mattoon, IL, and Gregg Clippard of Maryland Heights. Also surviving are eleven great-grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, and Christine Clippard, Amy Stuewe, Zach and Leah Dworaczyk, Sarah Livesay, Lori LeGrand, Carrie Perez, and Laurie and Luke Clippard; three great-step-grandchildren, Sarah, David, and Melissa Bradford; and three great-great-grandchildren, Avery Perez, Aiden Livesay, Rose Stuewe. Ellen looked forward to the birth of her fourth great-great-grandchild any day. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and five brothers. Millersville: Truman E. Moore, age 89, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. Friends may call Friday, February 28th, after 5:30 PM, at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 1st, at 10 AM, at the funeral home, followed by interment in the Caney Fork Baptist Cemetery. Rev. Rocky Tallent will officiate. Mr. Moore was born March 6, 1913 at Millersville, the son of Albert and Maggie Statler Moore. He married Verda Loos on October 3, 1936. She passed away June 27, 1998. Surviving are three sons, Raymond Moore of Jackson, Wayne Moore of Cape Girardeau, and Lonnie Moore of Millersville; one daughter, Bonnie Johnston of Cape Girardeau; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Mr. Moore was a life long member of the Caney Fork Baptist Church near Millersville. He had worked for the ASCS office as a farm reporter for twenty-five years. He enjoyed trapping and was an avid coon hunter.

Bruce Robert Anthony Pagano

Dr. Grant Gillard will officiate. Bruce was born November 26, 1953 in Rockville Centre, New York, son of the late Gilbert and Janet Pearsall Pagano. He and Christine Burns were married July 21, 1979. Survivors include his loving wife , Christine, and two children, Russell and Teresa Pagano all of Jackson; a brother, Anthony Pagano and fiancée Lisa of New York, New York; and two sisters, Barbara Hoover and husband Frank of Cranberry Pennsylvania and Maureen Pagona and fiancée John McCurry of New York. The Pagano’s had lived in Jackson the past seven years and attended First Presbyterian Church. Bruce graduated from Grumman Data Systems Institute in 1986 and continued his education at New York Institute of Technology. He was most recently employed at Burkart Foam in Cairo, Illinois. Bruce was an avid reader and enjoyed political debate.

Michael Wright will officiate. Rachel was born October 25, 1984 in Phoenix, Arizona, daughter of Wade K. and Roxann B. Biship Smith.
Loving survivors include her parents of Overland Park, Kansas; maternal grandparents, Bill and Joann Bishop of Phoenix, Arizona; and maternal great-grandfather, Frank Jaracz of Detroit, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and maternal great-grandmother.
Rachel had lived in Jackson several years. Her plans were to complete her education at Jackson High School, graduate in May, and attend the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas where she had been formally accepted in the aeronautical engineering program. An honor student at JHS, Rachel was also a member of the Jackson R-2 Varsity Track team, and had qualified and attended Missouri State Track Finals. She also participated in the choir program. Rachel attended Cape Girardeau First Assembly Church.

Jackson: Gabriel “Gabe” Matthew Koehler, age 20, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2003, at his home as a result of a tragic house fire. Gabe, fondly known to his family as “Gabie”, was born October 21, 1982 in Cape Girardeau, the youngest child of Kenneth H. and Carolyn W. Sturm Koehler. Loving survivors include his parents of Jackson; five brothers, Stephen Boaz of Benton, Kenny Ray Koehler, Jason Towell, and Michael Towell all of Jackson, Adam Koehler of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Kelly Sutton of Perryville; paternal grandmother, Dora Koehler of Jackson; and maternal grandmother, Connie Sturm of Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by both of his grandfathers.
Gabe lived in Jackson all his life and formerly worked at the Jackson Skate Center. In 2002, he graduated from Jackson High School where he participated in football, wrestling, track, band, and mixed chorus. He dearly cherished the many friendships he formed at school. He was currently employed at K’s Merchandise in Cape Girardeau.

Mrs. Keller was born August 24, 1919 at Friedheim, the daughter of Fritz and Anna Therese L. Grossheider Sewing. She married Curtis W. Keller August 18, 1944. He passed away May 2, 1979. Loving survivors are two sons and daughters-in-laws, Raymond and Ann Keller of Charlottesville, VA and Kirby and Nancy Keller of Chesterfield, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, LaVerne and Jerry Levy of Oakville, MO; two brothers, Walter Sewing of Jackson and Edgar Sewing of Gordonville; one sister, Edna Sewing of Gordonville; five grandchildren, Alexander Keller, Simone Keller-Sutherland, William Keller-Sutherland, Kathryn Keller, Curtis Keller. Terry A. Huckstep

Jackson: On Monday, February 24, 2003, my loving husband, our beloved dad, and our devoted paw-paw, Terry A. Huckstep was called home. He passed away with loved ones at his side. He fought a long and courageous twelve year battle with cancer. Terry was born May 2, 1947 at Cape Girardeau, the son of Willman A. and Zola Stoops Huckstep.
He was a 1965 graduate of Cape Central High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1965-1969. On February 11, 1968 he married Phyllis Patrick. From 1970 -1977, Terry was a Deputy Sheriff for the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office. He was currently owner of Southeast Missouri Dental Lab, Inc., having purchased the business from his father. Terry was a member of the Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Cape. Loving survivors include his parents Willman and Zola Huckstep of Cape; his wife Phyllis of Jackson; son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Tamara Huckstep of Jackson; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Danny Foltz of Marble Hill; and his pride and joy…five grandchildren, Trever, Monica, and Olivia Foltz, Kayla and Lydia Huckstep. Also surviving are two brothers and sister-in-laws, Jerry and Polly Huckstep, and Gary and Cathy Huckstep all of Jackson. Terry enjoyed life to the fullest. He liked hunting and was an avid crappie fisherman. He will be dearly and sadly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 25th, from 4-8 PM at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at 10 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Sedgewickville: Jean Conrad, age 75, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Jean was born December 27, 1927 at Sedgewickville, daughter of Pearl C. and Emma Penny Bollinger. She and David Conrad were married June 1, 1946 in Jackson. He passed away July 23, 1999. Loving survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Marty and Rhonda Conrad of Sedgewickville, Terry and Mary Lou Conrad of Patton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and David Allen of Jackson and Debby Poindexter of Marble Hill; a brother, Roy Bollinger of Jackson; and two sisters, Zelma Statler of Perryville and Jewell Ellis of Sedgewickville. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Brent and Deanna Schreiner and Matthew Conrad, Justin Conrad, Christopher Conrad and wife Jessica, Ronnie Allen and wife DeAnn, Terry Allen and wife Lourisa; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Lorryn Allen. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Dean Conrad; and a brother, Richard Bollinger.
Jean had worked at the former International Shoe Factory in Jackson prior to her marriage. In 1965, she began working at the Jackson Hosiery Mill and in 1972 she began working at the former Lamberts Fabrics Unlimited. For the past 30 years she owned and operated Draperies by Jean, featuring custom draperies and window treatments. She was a member of the Sedgewickville United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women’s Group. She was also a member of the Willing Helpers FCE Club in Sedgewickville and had held many offices within the organization. Other organizational memberships include the John Guild Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, the Red Hat Rebels, the Good Sam’s Camping Club, a former leader in the Cheerful Workers 4-H Club in Sedgewickville, and a charter member of the Meadow Heights Band Boosters Club. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Cape Girardeau: Esther Clemens Ongoa, 72, died Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at her home.
She was born December 18, 1930, in Towamencin Township, Pennsylvania, daughter of Earl Allebach and Katie Ruth Clemens.
Esther was a retired professor of Early Childhood Education at Southeast Missouri State University and a member of Cape LaCroix Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Melanie Ongoa of Ballwin, Missouri and Margaret Best of O’Fallon, Illinois; five siblings, and two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call at the McCombs Funeral Home from 4-8 PM, Friday, February 21st. A graveside service will be Sunday, February 23rd, at Methacton Cemetery in Fairview Village, Pennsylvania. Iola D. Macke

Cape Girardeau: Iola D. Macke, age 70, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. Friends may call between 4-8 PM, Thursday, February 20th, at the McCombs Funeral Home in Cape and after 10 AM, Friday, February 21st at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Friday at the church, followed by entombment in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum. Rev. Douglas Breite will officiate. Mrs. Macke was born November 28, 1932 at Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Russell and Ella Helwege Lewis. She married Thomas Edward Macke on June 12, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church. He survives. Other Loving survivors include a daughter Joyce Macke of Cape Girardeau and a brother, Gary Lewis of Sappington, MO.
Mrs. Macke graduated Cape Central High School in 1950. She had worked at the former Popp-Springer Insurance Agency, George Goodson Insurance Agency, and the Stan Popp Life/Health and Casualty Agency all in Cape. She was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she formerly taught Sunday School many years and was a District Officer of the former Walther League. She enjoyed tatting and knitting. Cape Girardeau: Howard Franklin Barnes, age 66, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2003 at his home. Friends may call between 3-8 PM, Saturday February 1st, at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Funeral Service will be at 2 PM, Sunday, February 2nd at the funeral home, followed by interment in St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Fruitland. Rev. David E. Schaffner will officiate. Mr. Barnes was born March 29, 1936, in Atlanta, Georgia, son of Howard E. and Velma Harrelson Barnes. He and Elda Petzoldt Scholl were married February 14, 1993. Loving survivors include his wife; four sons, David Barnes of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Jay Barnes of Prescott, Wisconsin, Robert Barnes of Washington, D.C., Warren Barnes of Pennsylvania; two daughters, Cindy States of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Janet Hutsler of Indiana; four stepsons, Dan and Sam Scholl of Cape Girardeau, Andy Scholl of Riverside, California, John Scholl of Ventura, California; two stepdaughters, Debra Lewis of Cape Girardeau, Marti Ryan of Oxford, Mississippi; 14 grandchildren; and nine step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Mr. Barnes was formerly of Colorado Springs, Colorado, moving to Cape Girardeau in 1992. He had worked in the Environmental Services Department at Southeast Missouri Hospital, and retired from Nell Holcomb School in 1998. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1955 to 1964.

Mary I. Schrader

Cape Girardeau: Mary I. Schrader, age 81, passed away Monday, January 27, 2003 at the Lutheran Home. Friends may call between 4-8PM, Wednesday, January 29th, at McCombs Funeral Home and after 1 PM, Thursday, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral Service will be Thursday at 2 PM at the church, followed by interment in Lorimier Cemetery. Rev. Douglas Breite will officiate. Mary was born October 5, 1921 at Mansfield, Missouri, daughter of Ira and Lola Pope Brazeal. She was raised in Chaffee and attended Chaffee schools. In 1944, she graduated from Southeast Missouri State University. Mary and Charles F. “Dopey” Schrader were married on August 8, 1942, at Spartanburg, South Carolina. He survives.
Other loving survivors include a son, Joe Bob Schrader of Eureka, Missouri; three daughters, Judith K. Lueders and Jayne Schrader both of Cape Girardeau, and Carol Ann Emery of Smithfield, Virginia; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; one sister; and an infant grandson.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

James “Jim” R. Skinner

Jackson: James “Jim” R. Skinner, age 86, of Jackson, passed away Friday, February 14, 2003, at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Cape Girardeau. Friends may call Sunday, February 16th, between 4:00 - 7:30 PM at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. An American Legion service will be held at 7 PM. Funeral Service will be Monday, February 17, 2003 at 2 PM, at the funeral home, followed by interment in Russell Heights Cemetery. Rev. Brian Anderson will officiate. Jim was born October 14, 1916 at Oran, the son of Harry and Bertha Clingingsmith Skinner.
He is survived by three brothers, Ray and Warren Skinner of Jackson, and Joe Skinner of Mesa, Arizona; two sisters, Daisy Niswonger of Cape Girardeau and Mary Walters of Louisville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Jim was a former resident of the Oak Ridge Community, moving to Jackson in 1952. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the United States Army from April 1942 thru January 1946. During his time of service he was awarded a Bronze Star. Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson and had been very active in the Bus Ministry for many years.

Amy Nell Steck

Jackson: Amy Nell Steck, age 83, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2003, at the Jackson Manor Nursing Home. Friends may call Tuesday, February 11th, between 4-8 PM, at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, February 12th, at 11 AM, at the funeral home, followed by interment in Russell Heights Cemetery. Dr. Grant Gillard will officiate. Amy Nell was born April 19, 1919, in Scopus, Missouri, daughter of Lyman and Bertha Yount Bridges. She and Milde G. Steck were married October 22, 1961. He passed away August 19, 1990. Loving survivors include a niece, Shirley Eakins of Marble Hill; great-nephew, Donald G. Eakins of St. Louis; brother-in-law, Charles Steck and wife Bernice of Cape Girardeau; sister-in-law, Betty Holly of Chesterfield, Missouri; and several cousins and great-nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by a sister and a sister-in-law. Amy Nell attended the former Lutesville High School and had worked at the former Munitions Arms in St. Louis, the former International Shoe Company and Hosiery Mill in Jackson. She was a charter member of Scopus United Methodist Church. After she and Milde were married, she became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson and was a member of its Esther-Hannah Circle. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for Rural Letter Carriers. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson.

Norma Dorothy Brothers

Jackson: Norma Dorothy Brothers, age 85, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2003, at her home. Friends may call Friday, January 31st, after 1 PM, at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral Service will be at 2 PM, at the funeral home, followed by interment in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will officiate. She was born March 21, 1917 in Jackson, daughter of Louis and Ida Zschille Ristig. She and Robert L. Brothers were married June 4, 1938 in Luxoria, Arkansas. Loving survivors include her husband of Jackson; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Becky Brothers of Springfield, Mo., and Michael and Connie Brothers of Jackson; and five grandchildren, Angela and Steven Brothers of Sacramento, Ca., Jeffrey Brothers of Chico, Ca., Jason Brothers of Jackson, Mo., and Jamie Brothers of Overland Park, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Norma worked at the former International Shoe Company in Jackson and the former Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1979. She was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson.
