Bernilda E. Fessler, 74, of Salisbury died June 21, 2002 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO. Bernilda was born July 25, 1927 in Salisbury, MO the daughter of Henry and Anna (Wienhaus) Henke, Jr. She married Leonard Fessler on June 24, 1947 in Salisbury, MO and he survives of the home.
Bernilda was a lifelong Salisbury resident. She was a homemaker and member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Joseph Altar Sodality.
Bernilda is survived by her husband Leonard of the home, six sons Jonnie and wife Karen Fessler of Salisbury, Gerald Fessler of Salisbury, Glen and wife Bridgett Fessler of Salisbury, Dale and wife Tracey Fessler of Salisbury, Melvin Fessler of Salisbury and Leon and wife Connie of Huntsville, MO; four daughters Marilyn Botkin and husband Eric of Salisbury, Janet Cleeton and husband Gary of Salisbury, Bonnie Thomas and husband David of Salisbury, and Mary Ellen Leathers and husband Ben of Cairo, MO, five brothers Leondard Henke, Wilfred Henke, Marvin Henke, Fred Henke all of Salisbury, Harold Henke of Fayette, two sisters Lorene Meissen and Norma Lou Linneman both of Salisbury, twenty four grandchildren and one step-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

Josephine Van Booven, 84, of Salisbury, MO died June 22, 2002 at Chariton Park Health Care Center. Josephine was born September 7, 1917 in Glasgow, MO the daughter of John and Sophie (Nolke) Van Booven.
Josephine has lived in Salisbury since 1925. Josephine was a homemaker and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Henry G. Scheiderer, 95, of Salisbury died June 20, 2002 at his home in Salisbury. Henry was born June 13, 1907, rural Salisbury, MO, the son of Louis and Welhelmina (Klaus) Scheiderer. He married Norma Meyer on November 5, 1933 in Forest Green, MO and she preceded him in death on April 18, 1990.
Henry was a lifelong Salisbury resident and farmer. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, and former member of LLL and couples club of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served as a board member of the Coleman School.
Henry is survived by two sons and daughters- in-law, Maurice and Pat Scheiderer and Ron and Marilyn Scheiderer all of Salisbury, a daughter and son-in-law Carol and Dale Belche of Macon, MO, a brother Gus Scheiderer of Salisbury, ten grandchildren, one step-grandchild, five great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother Oscar Scheiderer, and two sisters Mable Rutherford and Lydia Linneman.

Wallace Tebbenkamp, 88, of Salisbury died June 18, 2002 at his home. Wallace was born August 20, 1913 in Knob Noster, MO the son of Frederick W. and Sadie (McMillan) Tebbenkamp. Wallace married Evelyn Lohoefner on June 18, 1937 in Alma, MO and she survives of the home.
Wallace has lived in the Salisbury community since 1945, moving here from Concordia, MO. He was a retired farmer. Wallace bought and traded walnut timber for many years. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Salisbury.
Wallace is survived by his wife Evelyn, two sons and daughters-in-law, Daryl and Rhonda Tebbenkamp of Salisbury, David and Cathy Tebbenkamp of Konarock, Virginia, two daughters Sharon Sooter of Seattle, Washington and Rosemary Cowan of Union, MO, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Wallace was preceded in death by a son Neil Tebbenkamp in 1964, a grandson Bradley Joel Tebbenkamp, two brothers Dee and Joe Tebbenkamp and two sisters Alvina Eckhoff and Mildred Frieben.

Martha Elizabeth Fellows, 88, of Salisbury died June 18, 2002 at Moberly Regional Medical Center. Martha was born September 5, 1913 in Prairie Hill, MO the daughter of Fay Norris and Odie (Richardson) VanPelt. She married Baird Fellows on December 22, 1951 in Kansas City, MO and he preceded her in death on May 14, 1969.
Martha was a lifelong Chariton County resident, except for living in Kansas City for 6 years. She was a 1929 graduate of Salisbury High School and a 1946 graduate of M.U. Martha served in the U.S. Navy Reserves (WAVES) during WW II. Martha was a school teacher. She taught at St. Joseph Catholic School for 8 years, Salisbury elementary and high school, the Gwin School at DeWitt, Bluff Point School east of Brunswick, Keytesville, Clifton Hill and Kansas City. She also worked at the Fellows Hatchery in Salisbury for 11 years. She was a member of the Salisbury United Methodist Church, Chariton County Historical Society where she held office of President.
Martha is survived by a brother Fay VanPelt Jr. of St. Louis, MO and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother Frank Howard "Tink" VanPelt, and Charles VanPelt.

Ursula Van Booven, 87, of Salisbury, Missouri died Friday, June 14, 2002 at the Chariton Park Health Care Center in Salisbury. She was born January 22, 1915 in Glasgow, Missouri the daughter of John and Sophie (Nolke) Van Booven. Ursula moved to Salisbury in 1952 from Glasgow.
Miss Van Booven was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Joseph Altar Sodality. Ursula was a dishwasher at the Rosevelt Cafe in Salisbury for many years.
Ursula was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Andrew and Edgar Van Booven and 8 sisters, Mary Van Booven, Celeste Van Booven, Regina Tharpe, Lorene Jenkins, Delvita Brennan, Eleanor Land, Edna Van Booven and Sister Bernilda Van Booven. Survivors include a sister, Josphine Van Booven of Salisbury, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 17, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury with burial in the church cemetery. Delbert Lee Watkins, 77, of Columbia, MO died June 7 at South Hampton Nursing Home after a long illness. He was born October 2, 1924 the son of Clarence and Maude (McLain) Watkins of Jackson, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Denzel. A sister Hazel Davie of Cap Girardeau, MO survives.
He married Anita Fern Guilford on August 9, 1946 in St. Louis, MO. Delbert was a U.S. Marine during WWII and served in Iwo Jima. After his discharge, he moved to St. Louis, MO and built a highly successful full-service Standard Oil Service Station. He and his wife later moved to Gunnison, Colorado where they owned and operated a Best Western Lodge. Survivors are his wife Anita of the home, a daughter Brenda Hecker, a son Donald, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held June 8 at the Asbury Cemetery in Keytesville with Rev. Mary Biesemeyer officiating, under the direction of Summerville Funeral Home of Salisbury. Ellen M. Richardson, 76, of Salisbury died Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at the Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Ellen was born June 28, 1925 in Salisbury the daughter of Daniel and Henrietta Arnsperger who have preceded her in death as well as her brother Leroy Arnsperger and sisters, Gertrude Arnsperger and Edna Lauman.
Ellen graduated from Salisbury High School and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia.
She married Clifford Richardson on October 15, 1948 in Independence, MO and he survives of the home. She was a partner in the IGA Foodliner in Salisbury, the first female member of the Salisbury RIV School Board and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, serving on the Board of Trustees.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughters Janet Iman and her husband Wally of Salisbury and Sandra Bautista and her husband Joel of Moberly, grandchildren, Scott Iman, Allison, Kate and Lauren Bautista. Siblings of Ellen's who survive are Elmer Arnsperger and Mildred Bachtel of Salisbury, Mary Louise Morrissy and Ed Arnsperger of Omaha, NE, and Carolee Combs of Baltimore, MD and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, June 7, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Salisbury with visitation from 10 til service time Friday at the church under direction of the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Patricia Logan Quilty, 66 of Mexico, MO, died Monday at the Harry S. Truman Veteran's Hospital in Columbia, MO. She was born December 29, 1934 in Salisbury the daughter of Nathan and Evelyn (Blackman) Logan. Patricia was a graduate of the class of 1952 from Salisbury High School, following that she joined the U.S. Marine Corp where she served for 10 years. She served in the Korean Conflict and was honorary discharged in 1963 as rank of Staff Sergeant.
Patricia married William J Quilty II in March of 1963 in Washington D.C. and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her father. Mrs. Quilty was a member of the Salisbury United Methodist Church.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 7, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Memorials are suggested to the Patricia Logan Quilty Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Ruth E. Littleton, 82, of Keytesville, Missouri, died Monday, June 3, 2002 at the Brunswick Nursing Home. She was born February 14, 1920 in Keytesville the daughter of Daniel and Josephine (Sanderson) Bentley. Mrs. Littleton was a lifelong Keytesville resident.
Ruth married Grant O. Littleton on November 29, 1941 in Keytesville and he preceded her in death on October 26, 1981.
Mrs. Littleton was a housewife and a lifelong member of the Keytesville Baptist Church.
Survivors include her 4 sons Norman Bentley of Keytesville, Junior Littleton and his wife Denise of Keytesville, Bob Littleton of Dalton, Jerry Littleton and his wife Laurinda of Keytesville, one daughter, Sandy Gooch and her husband Gene of Brunswick, three brothers, Ernest "Hoot" Bentley, Jesse W "Nig" Bentley and John Henry Bentley all of Keytesville, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Fonzo, Grover and William Bentley and a sister Frances Conrad and one grandson, Bruce Littleton.

Francis "Squeaky" Guilford, 76 of Salisbury, died July 29, 2002 at University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, MO. Francis was born September 9, 1925 in rural Keytesville, MO the son of Eunice T. and Lou Edna (Edwards) Guilford. He married Leota Skinner on September 5, 1947 in Moberly, MO and she survives of the home.
Francis was a lifelong Chariton County resident and farmer. He served in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the submarine Arganot from 1943 to 1946. Besides farming, Francis served as chief deputy sheriff under Bart Rice, then worked for Norfolk and Western Railroad before becoming the Chariton County Sheriff for eight years, and then in 1977 he served as the Chief of Police in Salisbury until he retired in 1990. He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church.
Francis is survived by his wife Leota Guilford, son and daughter-in-law John and Judy Guilford of Salisbury, two daughters and son's-in-law Phyllis and Paul Tate of Macon, MO and Lisa and Larry (Cross) Wild of Pickneyville, IL, a son-in-law James Cross of Salisbury, MO, 3 brothers Floyd Guilford and James Guilford of Salisbury, MO and Gene Guilford of Dupo, IL, two sisters Anita Watkins of Columbia, MO and Catherine Ponder of Colorado Springs, CO, six grandchildren Teri Cunningham, Tracy Miller, Johnna Guilford, Ryan James, Ben Tate and Kent Tate, and five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Laura Marie Cazzell, 45 of Salisbury, died July 21, 2002 at the University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Laura was born June 19, 1957 in Springfield, MO the daughter of John W. and Shirley (Nye) Eddington. Laura was married to James Cazzell on JULY 19, 1980 in Salisbury, MO and he survives of the home.
Laura spent her childhood in the Kansas City area, moving to Salisbury in 1963. Laura received her bachelors degree from Truman State University and her masters from Central Missouri State University. She was a psychologist and worked at several nursing homes in the area and for the Division of Aging. Laura was involved with the elderly and the Salisbury Senior Center.
Laura is survived by her husband James Cazzell, a son Sean Cazzell of the home, father John Eddington and wife Barbara of Salisbury, two sisters Gail Ann Collet of Lee's Summit, MO and Susie Benner of Salisbury, two nephews and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents.

August F. Klaus, 95, of Salisbury, MO died July 17, 2002 at Moberly Nursing Rehab, Moberly, MO. August was born August 8, 1906 in Salisbury, MO the son of William and Mary (Wiltman) Klaus. He married Minnie Henning on April 30, 1939 in Salisbury, MO and she preceded him in death on August 30, 1993.
August was a lifelong Salisbury resident and farmer. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the first confirmation class in the new building in 1921. August also was a member of the AAL and Century Farm Club and received a Centennial Farm Award.
August is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Joyce and Tom Barrett of Alton, IL and Sharon and Mike Meoli of Salisbury, MO, a brother Arthur Klaus of St., Louis, MO, seven grandchildren, Nicklaus Meoli, Alex Meoli, Marcus Meoli, Deborah Hill, Thomas Barrett, Charles Barrett and James Barrett, five great-grandchildren, Klaus Wegner of Hanau, Germany, a foreign exchange student who resided with the family from 1951 - 1952, and three nephews. Jessie was born December 10, 1917 in Roy, New Mexico the daughter of Jesse Mitchell and Helene French (Vail) Davenport. She married Glen Miller Atkinson on October 23, 1943 in Eldon, MO and he survives of the home.
Jessie moved to Salisbury in 1989 from Barnett, MO. Jessie was a school teacher in the Eldon, Missouri school district for 32 years. Jessie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Salisbury and former member of the High Point Baptist Church.
Jessie is survived by her husband, Glenn of the home, a son and daughter-in-law; Earl and Laura Sue Atkinson of Salisbury, a daughter and son-in-law; Catherine and Rob Rice of Clifton Hill, MO, a brother William "Randy" Davenport of Campbellsville, KY and sister Loise Dill of Riverside, CA, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. John Hoette, age 84, of Keytesville, MO died July 8, 2002 at the Harry S. Truman V. A. Hospital in Columbia. John was born August 17, 1917 in Salisbury the son of John Herman and Mary Catherine (Brueggen) Hoette. John married June Isle Hauswirth on October 30, 1946 in Salisbury and she survives of the home.
John had resided in Keytesville since 1954 moving there from Salisbury. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in the Battle of the Bulge. He worked for the Salisbury Lumber Yard, Quinn's Lumber and Marek's Lumber as a yardman for 22 years retiring in 1979.
John is survived by his wife June of Keytesville, son and daughter-in-law Jim and Kim Hoette of Radcliff, KY, two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Marv Glendening of Belton, MO, Joan and Berne Devlins of Columbia, MO, four sisters Lenora Thieman of Salisbury, Clara Pancoast of Salisbury, Kathy Frank and Lorene Wade both of St. Louis, MO, five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. Ronald "Ronnie" Cruse, 58 a lifelong resident of Salisbury died Saturday, July 6, 2002 at his home in Salisbury. He was born January 21, 1944 in Salisbury the son of Joe Wallace and Anna Ruth (Fry) Cruse.
Ronnie married Peggy Utterback on October 2, 1965 in Salisbury.
Ronnie served in the U.S. Army for three years, some during the Vietnam War. He was of the protestant faith. He worked at the Sturm's restaurant in Salisbury, Jackson Motors as a mechanic and was a police officer for the city of Salisbury for seven years.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, a brother, James "Pete" Cruse and a sister Carolyn Truesdell. Survivors include his mother, Anna Ruth Cruse of Salisbury, his wife Peggy of the home, one son and daughter-in-law; Jamie and Kelly Cruse of Salisbury and a daughter Cristy Cruse of Columbia, four brothers Larry Cruse, LaVerne Cruse, Leonard Cruse and Walter Cruse and a sister Joann Stanley all of Salisbury; four grandchildren, Myron, Shelby, Taylor and Erik and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with internment in Eastlawn Memory Garden Cemetery in Salisbury. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 9 from 5 til 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Kidney Association.

Brent M. Schnetzler, 16, of Keytesville died Thursday, July 4, 2002 at his home in Keytesville. Brent was born May 12, 1986 in Columbia, MO the son of Roger and Brenda (Friesz) Schnetzler.
He would have been a Junior at Keytesville High School this coming year. Brent was the manager of the baseball, basketball and track teams. He was in the F.F.A.
He is survived by his parents Roger and Brenda Schnetzler, Keytesville, MO; two brothers Nicholas Lee Schnetzler and Ryan Schnetzler of Keytesville, MO; grandparents Bob and Betty Friesz of Keytesville, MO and George and Dorothy Hammons of Salisbury, MO; aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Monday, July 8, 2002 from 6 till 8:00 p.m. Services are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at the Summerville Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the American Cancer Fund.
Lorraine E. Sears, age 69, of Salisbury died Thursday, July 4, 2002 at the Moberly Regional Medical Center. Lorraine was born August 25, 1932 in Madison, Wisconsin the daughter of Edward and Lois (Hinkle) McConley.
She was the widow of Elmo Sears who died March 7, 1997. During her lifetime she was a beautician, and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons Michael N. Sears of DeKalb, IL and Frank Sears of Salisbury, and two daughters DeMaris S. Rodgers of Salisbury and Debbie McPherson also of Salisbury, MO. She leaves 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 7 from 6 till 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 7:30 by Father Tim Tato. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2002 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph School.

Iola Faye Farthing, age 93, of Salisbury died Thursday, July 4, 2002 at the Chariton Park Health Care Center in Salisbury. Faye was born August 31, 1908 in Chariton County near Keytesville, Missouri the daughter of Luther and Eva Marie (Shoemaker) Johnson. She married Virgil T Farthing on June 8, 1953 - he precedes her in death. They had one son Thomas Ray Farthing whom died at birth.
She graduated from Kirksville Teachers College now Truman University with a B.S. degree. She taught school in the Chariton County area for 38 years. Faye joined the Salisbury United Methodist Church in November, 1922, she was a 50 year member of the Easter Star and served as Chaplain at the time of our death. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Assoc., the Historical Society, and was very active in Daugthers of the American Revolution.
She is survived by two nephews Dr. Kenneth and wife Nelda Farthing of Fayetteville, AR, and Rush and wife Inez Johnson of Bucklin, MO. Nieces Joyce and her husband Andy Baer of Salisbury, MO, Lois Cheatwood of Moberly, MO and Sandra and her husband Pat Patterson of Ella Belle GA; cousins Betty and her husband Bill Smith of Liberty, MO and Betty Jean Howell of Phoenix, AZ; and great nieces and nephews and cousins and a life-time of friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 6 from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. Services are 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2002 in the Summerville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Salisbury City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be to Salisbury United Methodist Church or the Dulany Library

Larry James McCloud, age 58, of Warrenton, MO died Monday, July 1, 202 at his home. He was born September 20, 1943 in Moberly, Missouri the son of Herschel and Ruth (Preston) McCloud. He was married to Patricia Pearman from 1964 till 1975. He attended school in Chariton County graduating from New Cambria High School in 1961.
Larry started his working career in the engineering field and worked for Continental Telephone Company. At the present time Larry was the owner of The Gold Connection Jewelry Shop in Warrenton, Missouri. He was a member of The Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Numismatic Assoc. of St. Louis.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Shayna Renee and James Bond, two grand daughters Mallory and Madison Bond all of Jefferson City; his parents Herschel and Ruth McCloud of Salisbury; four brothers Paul McCloud of Salisbury, Alan McCloud of Bosworth, Mike McCloud of Salisbury and Bill McCloud of Salisbury; and two sisters Ruth Ann Washam of Salisbury and Kathy Sasek of Madison.

Earl F. Wellborn, age 67 of Salisbury, Missouri died Wednesday at his home. He was born Jan 30, 1935 in Kirksville, MO the son of Chester Earl and Norma (Smith) Wellborn.
Mr. Wellborn married Nancy J. Riggs on June 2, 1956 in Kirksville, MO and to this union was born 4 children.
Earl served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 until he retired from the military as the rank of Tech. Sergeant in 1972. While in the Air Force he served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Upon his retirement he and Nancy moved from California to Salisbury where they have resided the past 20 years. Earl also was a car salesman for Reuther Motors in Glasgow for several years after his retirement. He was of the Baptist faith. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Leslie and Weslie Wellborn and three grandchildren, survivors include his wife Nancy J. Wellborn of the home, 2 sons and their wives, Sonny and Kathy Wellborn of Glasgow, Jaydin and Kim Wellborn of Moberly, 2 daughters and their husbands, Vicky and Gerald Saulter and Candice and Eric Myers of Dallas, TX 12 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, 1 brother, Jimmy Wellborn of Cresco, IA and 1 sister Betty Gore of KC, MO and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with burial in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Salisbury where military graveside services will be rendered by the Salisbury American Legion at VFW. Visitation will be Friday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph School Foundation.
