Effie Baker
Effie C. Baker, 83, Joplin, died at 3 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 1998, at
St. John's Regional Medical Center
after an illness. Mrs. Baker was born April 23, 1914, and lived in
Joplin most of her life. She was a homemaker. She belonged to the
Villa Heights Christian Church, where she was a member of the Mr. and
Mrs. Class. She was a volunteer for Crosslines and a member of St.
John's Prestige. She was a former member of the Rebecca Lodge in
Springdale, Ark. She was a graduate of Springdale High School.
She married Jesse O. Baker on Aug. 26, 1935, in Springdale, Ark. He
died Aug. 31, 1972.
Survivors include two sons, Dick Baker and Danny Baker, both of
Joplin; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary,
Joplin, with Chet Shaw, minister, and Lon Humphrey, minister,
officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.
Pallbearers will be Ray McCulley, Vernon Lawson, Jay Wilson, Emmett
Green, Ted Sawyer and Percy Sawyer.
The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the mortuary.

of the mortuary.
Virginia Bullard
Virginia Lee Bullard, 83, 706 N. Moffet, died at 9:57 p.m. Sunday,
Jan. 25, 1998, at Freeman Hospital West, where she had been a patient
since December.
Mrs. Bullard was born Aug. 30, 1914, in Joplin, and was a lifetime
area resident. She grew up in the Royal Heights area and graduated
from Joplin High School in 1932. She had been a member of First
Presbyterian Church, Joplin, since 1944. She was also a member of the
Freeman Hospital Auxiliary. She volunteered at the Air Force Filter
Center in the former Connor Hotel during World War II. She was a
member of Cherete' Study Club, Crosslines and was a docent for the
Dorothea B. Hoover Museum, Joplin.
She married Robert Lee Bullard on June 28, 1935, in Joplin. He died
Feb. 1, 1978.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Bruce Bullard, San Anselmo, Calif.,
and William H. "Bill" Bullard, Oklahoma City, Okla.; four
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian
Church with the Rev. William Watkins and the Rev. William Christman
officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at
Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin.

Carl Couch
Carl B. Couch, 63, Joplin, died at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998,
at St. John's Regional Medical Center after a short illness.
Mr. Couch was born Sept. 25, 1934, at Seneca. He moved to Joplin in
1994 from Springfield. He was also a former Monett resident. He was
retired from TG&Y, where he was a manager. He was a member of the
First Baptist Church, Marionville. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include a brother, Malvin A. Comstock, Reno, Nev.; and three
sisters, Margaret Butler, Joplin, Mary Ellen Tomlinson, St. Louis, and
JoAnn French, Bassett, Va.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Monett IOOF
Cemetery with the Rev. Arnold Ray Evans officiating.
Arrangements are under direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett.
Zelda Hardin
Zelda Geraldine Hardin, 93, Salem, Ore., formerly of Joplin, died at
3:05 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at a rural Salem nursing home of an
illness.
Mrs. Hardin was born Nov. 20, 1904, in the state of Oklahoma. She had
lived in rural Avilla. She lived from 1940 to 1996 in Joplin. She
moved in May 1996 to Salem. She was a member of American Legion
Auxiliary of Missouri. She participated in more than 40 national
bowling tournaments. She was inducted into Missouri and Joplin bowling
halls of fame. She established schools for junior bowlers in Missouri.
She wrote a column called "Alley Chatter" for several years in The
Joplin Globe. She owned and operated Zelda's Tailor Shop.
She married W.B. "Doc" Hardin in 1923. He died in 1968.
Surviving is a daughter, Wilma Hogle, Salem.
No services were conducted.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Heritage Society, Portland, Ore.
Elaine Owen
Memorial services for Elaine J. Owen, 622 Porter Ave., who died
Friday, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary.
The body has been cremated.
Burial will be in Carterville Cemetery at a later date.
Harry Rose
Harry Rose, 87, Prescott, Kan., died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at Mercy
Hospital in Fort Scott after an illness. A son lives in Joplin.
Mr. Rose was born April 21, 1910, in Bourbon County. He taught radio
broadcasting in Sioux Falls, S.D., during World War II. He taught
school in the Prescott and Pleasanton schools most of his life. He was
also a farmer. He was a member of Prescott United Methodist Church,
the Ruritan Club and was treasurer of the Country View Nursing Home
for many years.
He married Carrie Sutherland, who died in 1983. He married Delaine
Sutherland on Feb. 15, 1986. She survives.
Additional survivors include three stepsons, James A. Sutherland,
Council Bluff, Iowa, Robert L. Sutherland, Webb City, Mo., and Glen R.
Sutherland, Joplin.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Prescott United Methodist
Church. Burial will be in Prescott Cemetery.

Home, Pleasanton.

Marjory Stewart
Marjory Stewart, 84, Joplin, died at 12:47 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998,
at St. John's Regional Medical Center after a short illness.
Mrs. Stewart was born July 26, 1913, at Oakwood, Ill. She lived in
Joplin the past 15 years, moving from Bloomington, Ill. She was a
retired school teacher for the Marionette County, Wis., School
District. She graduated from Marionette Teachers College. She was a
United Methodist and a member of the Ruth Circle church group.
She married Gilbert B. Stewart on July 20, 1932, in Stephenson, Mich.
He survives.
Additional survivors include four sons, Phillip C. Stewart,
Schaumburg, Ill., Edward Stewart, Brooklyn Center, Minn., Jock S.
Stewart, Sandy, Ore., and Michael Stewart, Joplin; five daughters,
Virginia Hamilton, El Paso, Texas, Nina Knowlton, Catawba, Wis.,
Violet Bean, Ellicott City, Md., Nikki J. Stewart, Milwaukee, Wis.,
and Janet Stewart, Eau Claire, Wis.; 19 grandchildren; and several
great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary,
Joplin, with the Rev. Aaron A. Brown officiating. Burial will be in
Ozark Memorial Park in Joplin.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
Virginia Clyde
CARTHAGE, Mo. — Virginia L. Clyde, 73, Carthage, died at 10:53 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at McCune-Brooks Hospital after a short
illness.
Mrs. Clyde was born July 8, 1924, at Minneapolis, Minn., where she
lived most of her life. She had lived in Carthage the past six years,
moving from Buffalo. She worked as an office supervisor for the
University of Minnesota. She was a member of the First United
Methodist Church, Carthage. She volunteered for Jeanette Williams
United Methodist Women and for McCune-Brooks Auxiliary "Gray Ladies."
She married Eddie Clyde on April 4, 1942, at Minneapolis. He died Feb. 13, 1994.
Survivors include a son, Robert Clyde, Willard; a brother and three
sisters, names and addresses unknown; nine grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the First United Methodist
Church, Carthage, with the Rev. Rusty Maggard officiating.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo.

Omagene Depriest
GOODMAN, Mo. — Omagene Depriest, 84, died at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan.
25, 1998, at Freeman Neosho Hospital after an illness.
Mrs. Depriest was born Nov. 16, 1913, at Anderson. She was a homemaker
and a lifetime resident of the Anderson and Goodman areas. She was a
member of the Christian church.
She married Truman Depriest in 1930. He died in 1965.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorlene Williams, Goodman; a brother,
Jack Guinn, Anderson; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and
three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Goodman First Baptist Church.
Dr. Bob Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery,
Stella, under the direction of Goodman Ozark Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Craig Guinn, Kenny Underwood, Steve Wimpey, Ralph
Depriest, Charles Depriest and Dale Depriest.

Bessie Edwards
MOUNT VERNON, Mo. — Mary Elizabeth "Bessie" Edwards, 87, Mount Vernon,
died at 11:36 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at Cox Medical Center
South, Springfield, after a long illness.
Mrs. Edwards was born Jan. 20, 1911, in the Cato community, south of
Jenkins. She was a lifetime area resident and homemaker. She was a
member of Faith Baptist Church, rural Verona.
She married Charles Efton Edwards on March 28, 1931, at Cassville. He
died Feb. 8, 1965.
She was also preceded in death by a son and two daughters.
Survivors include three sons, Franklin Edwards, Cassville, Joe
Edwards, Purdy, and Charles Edwards, Mount Vernon; six daughters,
Doris Butler and Thelma Duncan, both of Cassville, Clemma Taylor,
Butterfield, Julia "Judy" Moore, Purdy, Virgie Hall, Monett, and Mary
Bunch, Mount Vernon; a brother, Chester Ray, Shell Knob; 42
grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren; and six great-great
grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Williamson Funeral Home,
Cassville, with Jarvis Barrett and Carroll Williamson officiating.
Burial will be in Mineral Springs Cemetery, Cassville.
Grandsons Darrell Butler, Harold Wells, Mike Duncan, Rick Taylor,
Randy McGlothlin and Steve Duncan will serve as pallbearers.
Myrtle Goodding
MOUNT VERNON, Mo. — Myrtle Anise Goodding, 88, Mount Vernon, formerly
of Shell Knob, died at 9:55 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, in a Mount
Vernon nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Goodding was born Oct. 17, 1909, at Mount Vernon. She was a
homemaker. She was a 1927 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. She
attended business college for two years. She was employed as a
secretary in various offices in the Mount Vernon courthouse for a few
years. She moved to Shell Knob from Blue Springs in 1971, living there
until August 1997.
She was a Christian and a member of the Solo's Club, Shell Knob.
She married Aubrey Goodding on Feb. 4, 1933, at Mount Vernon. He died
Feb. 6, 1990.
She is survived by a brother, James H. Gumm, Lee's Summit.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the IOOF
Cemetery, Mount Vernon, under the direction of Williamson Funeral
Home, Shell Knob. The Rev. James Terrell will officiate.
Dwane Headrick
CARTHAGE, Mo. — Dwane L. Headrick, 48, Carthage, died at 5:13 a.m.
Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Headrick was born March 8, 1949, at Webb City, and was a lifetime
area resident. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1967 and from
Missouri Southern State College, Joplin, in 1977. He was an
independent food broker. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam
War. He was a member of Blake Baptist Church, Avilla, where he served
as a deacon.
He married Patricia Stirewalt on June 14, 1969, in Carthage. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Trevor Headrick, and a daughter,
Ashly Headrick, both of the home; his father, William Headrick, Webb
City; and two brothers, Terance Headrick, Salina, Kan., and David
Headrick, Carthage.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Blake Baptist Church, Avilla,
with the Rev. Roy Moody and the Rev. Bob Hutchins officiating. Burial
will be in Red Oak Cemetery, Red Oak.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Pyle, John Stirewalt, Keith Maggard, Brock
Maggard, Buck Meister and Tim Meister.

Beulah Hopper
GRANBY, Mo. — Beulah Mae Hopper, 80, Granby, died Saturday, Jan. 24,
1998, at St. John's Regional Medical Center emergency room after a
long illness.
Mrs. Hopper was born Sept. 19, 1917, in Newtonia. She was a lifelong
Granby resident, a homemaker and also worked as a cook and a waitress.
She was a member of the Nazarene Church of Granby.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Harlan West, in
1952. Her second husband, Clarence Massey, died in 1969. She married
James Hopper in 1972. He died in 1982.
Survivors include three daughters, Georgetta Armstrong, Edith Ward,
and Jessie Morland, all of Granby; four sons, James West, Garden City,
Kan., Burt West, Granby, Clarence Massey Jr., Anderson, and Donald
Massey, Wichita, Kan.; three stepchildren, Muril Beaty, Howard Hopper
and Bobby Hopper, all of Granby; two brothers, Billy Ramsour, Joplin,
and Charles Ramsour, Houston, Texas; two sisters, Julia Matthews and
Anna Ramsour, both of Kansas City; 23 grandchildren; 25
great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 27
step-great-grandchildren and seven stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four children.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clark Funeral Home,
Granby, with the Rev. Richard DeMent officiating. Burial will follow
at Dice Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Bertha Jennings
NEOSHO, Mo. — Bertha Jennings, 90, Neosho, died at 5:45 p.m. Sunday,
Jan. 25, 1998, at Freeman Neosho Hospital after an illness.
Miss Jennings was born May 31, 1907, at Granby, and was a lifetime
area resident. She graduated from Granby High School. After two years
of college, she returned to Granby to teach grade school. She later
returned to the University of Missouri to complete a vocational degree
in home economics. She also did graduate work at MU. She taught at
Central High School, Cape Girardeau, and at Marshall High School,
where she was also supervisor of the MU student teaching program. She
taught at Missouri Valley College, Marshall, during World War II. She
later returned to Granby, where she helped plan and build modern
vocational facilities. She later planned the vocational department at
East Newton High School. She was an adviser for Future Homemakers of
America. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of
Missouri and various state and national vocational organizations for
more than 30 years.
There are no immediate survivors.
Memorial services will be at Granby Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
The Rev. Mark Mildren will officiate.

Audra McFarland
MOUNDVILLE, Mo. — Audra Mae McFarland, 92, Moundville, died Monday
morning, Jan. 26, 1998, at Nevada Regional Medical Center after a
short illness.
Mrs. McFarland was born March 30, 1905, in Moundville. She was a 1923
graduate of Moundville High School. She received a teaching
certificate from Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield. She
taught at Ragtown School in Vernon County and at Moundville. She was a
Cub Scout den mother for several years.
She was a member of the Golden Circle Women's Club, Moundville, and
the Moundville United Methodist Church.
She married Thomas P. McFarland on May 15, 1926, at Nevada. He died
Dec. 26, 1978.
Survivors include three sons, Clem McFarland, Moundville; Bill
McFarland, Newport Beach, Calif., and John McFarland, Jefferson City;
two daughters, Iva Reed, Nevada, and Ruth Gordon, Moundville; a
brother, Omer Whitworth, Moundville; a sister, Iva Shaw, Moundville;
10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
The Rev. Lester Thornton will officiate. Burial will be in Welborn
Cemetery, Moundville.

Dicy Noel
BRONAUGH, Mo. — Dicy Beatrice Noel, 94, Bronaugh, died at 10 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at an area nursing home after an illness.
Mrs. Noel was born June 14, 1903, in Bronaugh. She received her
bachelor's degree from Pittsburg (Kan.) State University. She began
her teaching career at Prairie Flower Country School near Bronaugh.
She later taught at several schools in the El Dorado, Kan., area. She
returned to Bronaugh in 1955, where she taught until her retirement.
She was a member of the Bronaugh Christian Church.
She married Louis A. Noel in 1943 in El Dorado. He died Feb. 10, 1959.
There are no immediate survivors.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Milster Funeral Home, Nevada.
Burial will be in Barton City Cemetery, near Liberal.

Margaret Todd
NEVADA, Mo. — Margaret Agnes Todd, 80, Nevada, died Monday morning,
Jan. 26, 1998, in a Nevada nursing center after a long illness.
Mrs. Todd was born Jan. 2, 1918, at Nevada. She was a graduate of
Pleasant Ridge School, a one-room school in Vernon County. She also
graduated from Nevada High School, Cottey College and Southwest
Missouri State University, Springfield. She taught school at Sheldon,
Metz and Nevada. She also worked at Thornton National Bank, Nevada.
She was a 10-year member of the 4-H Club and Pi Omega Pi, an honor
society for teachers. She was a former member of the Business and
Professional Women's Club and the Ellis Domestic Science Club. She was
a past president of the Bryan P.T.A. She was a member of the Nevada
Country Club and Lady Golfers.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Nevada.
She married Erbin Regar Todd on Aug. 18, 1944, at Ada, Okla. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Erbin Regar Todd Jr., Nevada,
and Low Daniel Todd II, Raytown; two daughters, Margaret Ann Earnest,
Nevada, and Alice Mae Shupe, Butler; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Newton Burial Park, Nevada.

Jessie Trolinger
WASHBURN, Mo. — Jessie L. Trolinger, 84, Washburn, died at 9:55 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at South Barry County Hospital, Cassville,
after a long illness.
Mrs. Trolinger was born Nov. 17, 1913, at Exeter. She was a longtime
Barry County resident. She was a homemaker and a businesswoman. She
graduated from Grove (Okla.) High School in 1931. She and her husband
owned and operated a service station in Washburn for 25 years. They
also managed and operated Rush Canning Factory in the early 1940s. She
was employed with MFA farmer's exchange for a time and worked for
Dunlap Produce in the 1950s. She retired from Barry County Farm
Bureau.
She was a charter member of Washburn First Baptist Church, where she
was secretary and treasurer for many years. She was also a charter
member and founder of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Washburn, and an
active member of the IOOF Rebekah Lodge.
She married Earl Ault Trolinger on Jan. 23, 1932, at Exeter. He died
Dec. 6, 1981.
Survivors include a son, Donnie Earl Trolinger, Washburn; a daughter,
Linda Lou Ash, Strafford; a sister, Ruby Wilkins, Paris, Texas; six
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Williamson Funeral Home,
Cassville, with the Rev. Paul Watson officiating. Burial will be in
Washburn Prairie Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bob Cantwell, Bob Lee, Verdayne Hicks, Denny
Trolinger, Donald Trolinger and Lee Stubblefield.

Barbara Wade
NEOSHO, Mo. — Barbara Jean Wade, 69, Neosho, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday,
Jan. 25, 1998, at her home. She had been in ill health since September
1997.
Mrs. Wade was born Dec. 28, 1928, at Webb City, and was a lifetime
area resident. She was a homemaker and a member of the Belfast Baptist
Church, near Neosho.
She married John Wade on Nov. 11, 1951, in Neosho. He died Jan. 28, 1993.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Sara Lankford, Neosho; three sons,
Ronnie Wade, Donald Wade and Larry Wade, all of Neosho; a sister,
Patty Murry, Norwalk, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Belfast Cemetery, near
Neosho, with the Rev. Fred Shellenberger officiating. The casket will
be closed.

Agnes Walker
GRANBY, Mo. — Agnes Loy Walker, 91, Granby, died Sunday, Jan. 25,
1998, at her home, after a long illness.
Mrs. Walker was born July 12, 1906, in Stella. Mrs. She was a lifelong
area resident. She was a homemaker and a member of the Granby Miracle
Church.
She married William Jesse Walker on July 18, 1923, in Elm Springs. He
died on Nov. 17, 1973.
Survivors include a son, Harold Walker, Bristow, Okla.; three
daughters, Alta Ruth Self, Bristow, Louise Thrasher and Velma Edens,
both of Granby; a brother Ralph Ivie, Neosho; a half-sister, Jean
Minter, St. Louis; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 10
stepgreat-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and two
stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son.
Graveside services for Mrs. Walker will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at
Macedonia Cemetery, with the Rev. Clifford Smith officiating.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Steve Forbes
PARSONS, Kan. — T. Steve Forbes, 37, 1101 Main, died Sunday, Jan. 25,
1998, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Forbes was born Aug. 19, 1960, in Parsons. He attended Parsons
Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Parsons High School. He
also attended Pittsburg State University. He moved to Pittsburg in
1987 and later lived in Joplin before returning to Parsons in 1996. He
was self-employed in heating and cooling maintenance. Most recently,
he operated a window-washing business. He also repaired VCRs and
worked on cars. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church,
Parsons.
Survivors include a son, Clinton Forbes, Pittsburg; four daughters,
Candace Forbes and Leticia Forbes, both of Pittsburg, and Maggie
Forbes and Sarah Forbes, both of Joplin; his parents, Tom and Loretta
Forbes, Parsons; three brothers, Christopher Forbes, Parsons, Keith
Forbes, Farmington, N.M., and Craig Forbes, Dubuque, Iowa; and his
paternal grandfather, Gene Forbes, Parsons.

Tim Kinder
BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. — Eldon Lee "Tim" Kinder, 62, 1803 Cherokee Ave.,
died at 2:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at his home after a short
illness.
Mr. Kinder was born April 25, 1935, at Grenola. He graduated from
Grenola High School in 1953 as salutatorian. He attended the former
Coffeyville Junior College, the former Labette County Junior College
in Parsons, and Missouri Southern State College in Joplin.
He retired in March 1997 after several years with the Test Lab of the
Kansas Department of Transportation in Baxter Springs, as a Materials
Engineer.
He was a member of Baxter Springs Masonic Lodge No. 71 AF&AM, the
American Welders Society, a former member of the Baxter Springs
Kiwanis Club and a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Galena, Kan.
He coached girls softball in the 1960s and 1970s.
He married Patricia J. Spencer on Nov. 17, 1956, at El Dorado. She survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Cheri Goff, Grenola, and
Karen Kinder, Baxter Springs; his mother, Leona Kinder, Moline; two
grandchildren; a stepgrandson and three stepgreat-grandsons.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lowell Cemetery,
Baxter Springs, with the Rev. J.W. Stephenson officiating. The casket
will remain closed at all times.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at
Derfelt's Baxter Chapel.

Cecil Smith
PITTSBURG, Kan. — Cecil Horace Smith, 92, Fort Scott, died Saturday
evening, Jan. 24, 1998, at his home after an illness. A son lives in
Pittsburg.
Mr. Smith was born Sept. 6, 1905, at Shawnee, Okla. He was a Master
Miller and worked 33 years for General Mills, mostly in management, in
Minneapolis, Minn., and Chicago, Ill. He retired from General Mills in
1965 and moved to Fort Scott, where he managed the Smico-Norvell
plant. He retired from Smico-Norvell in 1985. He was an honorary
member of the Association of Operative Millers and a published author
of poetry.
He married Lois L. Osterberg on Sept. 7, 1949, at Mason City, Iowa.
She survives.
Additional survivors include five sons, Scott Smith, Fort Scott, Chris
Smith, Pittsburg, Ben Smith, Chanute, Brian Smith, Carl Junction, Mo.,
and Darren Smith, Fort Collins, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter.
Services will be at 7 p.m. today at Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, Fort
Scott, with the Rev. Jan Hayen officiating. The body will be cremated.
The family will receive friends after the services until 8:30 p.m. at
the funeral home.

Stella Whittington
PURDY, Mo. — Stella Loraine Whittington, 87, Purdy, died at 11:30 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at a Monett nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Whittington was born March 25, 1910, at Cassville. She was a
homemaker and attended First Christian Church, Purdy. She was a member
of the Central Homemakers of Purdy.
She married Chester "Check" Whittington on June 14, 1930, at Kinsley,
Kan. He died Jan. 12, 1982.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Edith Messer, Monett; a son, Carroll
Whittington, Springfield; a sister, Lanzada Mollert, Merced, Calif.; a
brother, Evan Vaughan, Antioch, Calif.; five grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Pleasant
Cemetery, near Butterfield, with the Rev. Gary Parker officiating.

Juanita Frazier
MIAMI, Okla. — Juanita Frazier, Wichita, Kan., formerly of Miami, died
at 4 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital, Wichita,
after an illness.
Mrs. Frazier had lived in Wichita for several years, moving there from
Miami. She was a quality-control supervisor for Beech Aircraft,
Wichita, retiring in 1978.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Wichita.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Brewer, Wichita; three sisters,
Loretta Lawlis, Orange Park, Fla., Sue Baker, Barrington, Ill., and
Emma Jo Sanders, Fernandina Beach, Fla. Her first husband, Leon
Frazier, does not survive.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at GAR Cemetery,
Miami, under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami. The
Rev. Jack Sanders will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Gary Reynolds, Prentice Henley, Frank Sanders,
Bobby Carder and Pete Cooper.

James J. Jones
TULSA, Okla. — James J. Jones, 58, Tulsa, formerly of Joplin, died at
2:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at the home of a sister in Muskogee
after a six-month illness.
Mr. Jones was born Jan. 8, 1940, in Joplin. He attended schools in
Joplin and graduated from St. Peter's High School. He had lived in
Tulsa since 1980. He owned Gem-Clean Janitorial Service, Tulsa, from
1980 to 1997. He was a Navy veteran, serving from 1960 to 1962.
Survivors include a son, Joseph Jones, Tulsa; two daughters, Mendi
Jones, Pensacola, Fla., and Paulette Newman, Monte Video, Minn.; two
brothers, Dr. W.C. Jones, Tulsa, and John Jones, Bentonville, Ark.;
three sisters, Mary Louise Schwartz, Galena, Kan., Velma Jane Carson,
Muskogee, Okla., and Jean Ann Conboy, Albuquerque, N.M.; and six
grandchildren.
Memorial mass was held Friday at St. Bernard of Clairvaux, Tulsa. The
Rev. Father Bernard Jewitt officiated. The body has been cremated.

Arrow.
Jim Matlock
GROVE, Okla. — James B. "Jim" Matlock, 55, Grove, died Friday, Jan.
23, 1998, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a short
illness.
Mr. Matlock was born March 1, 1942, in Grove. He lived all his life in
the Grove and Tulsa areas. He worked for J&W Poultry Houses, Don Baker
Bresser Point Construction and was self-employed.
He married Sandra Downing in 1980. She survives.

JAY, Okla. — Erwin Corey Sharp, 28, Jay, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998,
in a traffic accident near Southwest City, Mo.
Mr. Sharp was born April 18, 1969, at Gravette, Ark. He was a member
of Hillside Baptist Church, near Jay.
Survivors include a son, Christopher Sharp, Kenwood; two daughters,
Shanoah Sharp, Kenwood, and Latricia Sharp, Gravette; his parents,
Archie and Nancy Sharp, Jay; a brother, Argyle Sharp, and two sisters,

Crystal L. Berry, 90, Joplin, died at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, at
her home after an illness. Mrs. Berry was born Nov. 24, 1907, at
Mountain Grove, Mo. She moved to the Neosho area in 1946 from
Fairview. She was a homemaker and a member of Neosho United Methodist
Church.
She married Leland L. Berry on Oct. 8, 1927, at Fairview. He died Jan. 12, 1993.
She was also preceded in death by a son.

grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Owen Clark "Ike" Hawkins, 79, Tulsa,Okla., a former Joplin resident,
died at 9:05 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, at St. John's Hospital,
Tulsa.
Mr. Hawkins was born Aug. 2, 1918, in Fort Worth, Texas. He lived in
Joplin before moving to Tulsa. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Helen L. Hawkins; three daughters, Sally
Zellmer and Jane Higgins, both of Tulsa, and Dianne Rapp, Dallas,
Texas; a sister, Carletta Morgan, Riverton, Kan.; seven grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Methodist

Mrs. Ellis was born Sept. 12, 1927, at Lewis, Kan. She was a member of
Hillcrest Church of the Nazarene, South Kansas City.
She married Earl E. Ellis on March 15, 1947, at Independence, Kan. He survives.

Myrtle McAboy
Myrtle I. McAboy, 96, 1224 Roosevelt, died at 1:50 a.m. Sunday, Feb.
22, 1998, at a Joplin nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. McAboy was born Feb. 9, 1902, in the Belle Center community, west
of Joplin, and had lived in the Joplin area all of her life.
She retired in 1965 after 22 years with Miller Manufacturing Co.,
Joplin. She previously worked 11 years for the former M&O Cigar
Factory, Joplin.
She was a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church. She was a member
of Joplin Rebekah Lodge.
She married Guy McAboy on July 11, 1953, in Joplin. He died on Feb. 26, 1973.
Survivors include a brother, Ernest King, Joplin.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday at
Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home, Webb City. Graveside services will be at 11
a.m. Wednesday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin. The Rev. Jarel

Annabelle Palmer
Annabelle Lea Palmer, 44, Joplin, died at 5:26 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22,
1998, at her home after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Palmer was born Dec. 11, 1953, in Joplin, and was a lifetime
resident. She graduated from the former Parkwood High School, Joplin.
She was a homemaker and a member of South Joplin Christian Church.
She married Harry A. Palmer on Nov. 3, 1973, in Joplin. He survives.

Thelma Peyton
Thelma L. Barnett Peyton, 99, Joplin, died at 6:38 p.m. Sunday, Feb.
22, 1998, in a local nursing home. She had been ill for several years.
Mrs. Peyton was born Nov. 20, 1898, in Joplin. She was a graduate of
Joplin High School. She lived in Joplin until 1925, when she moved to
Florida. She returned to Joplin in 1985.
She attended First Community Church, Joplin.
She married Henry Gonyer. He died in 1917. She married John C. Peyton
in 1925, at Little Rock, Ark. He died in 1936.
Surviving are two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and six
great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Hope
Cemetery, Webb City. The Rev. Wayne VanGundy will officiate.

Lorene Alumbaugh
WEBB CITY, Mo. — Lorene Fitzpatrick Alumbaugh, 69, 318 S. Main St.,
died at 11: 07 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, at the home of a daughter,
Diane Meister, Carthage, after a short illness.
Mrs. Alumbaugh was born June 19, 1928, at Lowell, Kan., and was a
lifetime resident of the area. She was a former owner of Jo-Dee Donut
Shop at Carl Junction. She also had worked at the former Motorola's
Webb City plant and Bell Egg Farm of rural Joplin. She was a member of
Frisco Church of Webb City.
She married Merl Fitzpatrick on Feb. 2, 1946, at Columbus, Kan. He
died Nov. 30, 1970. She married Carl Alumbaugh on Aug. 5, 1978, at
Joplin. He died March 30, 1995.
Additional survivors include another daughter, Jody Chambers, Fort
Smith, Ark.; three stepsons, Steve Alumbaugh, Webb City, Michael
Alumbaugh, Alba, and Floyd Alumbaugh, with the U.S. military in the
Persian Gulf; a stepdaughter, Carla Grimm, Tampa, Fla.; a brother,.
Bill Etcheson, Webb City; three sisters, Pansy Wardlow, Carl Junction,

Rita Bogart
NEVADA, Mo. — Rita Kay Bogart, 37, Nevada, died Sunday night, Feb. 22,
1998, at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, Columbia, after a short illness.
Mrs. Bogart was born Feb. 1, 1961, in Nevada, and was a lifetime
resident. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1979. She received
her associate's degree in business administration from Missouri
Southern State College, Joplin. She worked for 3-M the past four
years.
She married Shon E. Bogart on Nov. 17, 1996, in Nevada. He survives.

GOLDEN CITY, Mo. — V. Darrell Bull, 76, Golden City, died at 7:30 a.m.
Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, at his home after a six-month illness.
Mr. Bull was born July 25, 1921, in Jasper County. He was a lifetime
area resident and a retired farmer. He was a member of Dudenville
Methodist Church in rural Jasper County and a member of American
Legion Post No. 1000, Golden City.
He married Maxine D. Linthicum on Dec. 10, 1949, in Carthage. She survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Dale Whitmer, Webb City, Tom
Bull, Blue Springs, and Sam Bull, Golden City; two daughters, Patty
Waldbuesser, Jasper, and Karolyn Tinkey, Lamar; two sisters, Phyllis

Ida Burns
WEBB CITY, Mo. — Ida Lee Burns, 80, Duarte, Calif., formerly of Webb
City, died at 10:35 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at her home after
an illness.
Mrs. Burns was born Oct. 18, 1917, at Commerce, Okla. She moved to
California 43 years ago from Webb City. She was employed as a fruit
packer with Braden Fancy Fruits in California.
Her husband, William C. Burns Sr., died on Dec. 18, 1986.
Survivors include two sons, William C. Burns Jr., Duarte, and David L.
Burns, New York City; two sisters, Maxine Brake and Edna Davidson,
both of Webb City; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

MILLER, Mo. — Lena Rosalie Driskell, 79, Centerville, Iowa, formerly
of Miller, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital,
Centerville, after an illness.
Mrs. Driskell was born March 17, 1918, at Plains, Ga. She was a
homemaker. She worked in the food service department of Miller School
District.
She married George William L. Driskell on Oct. 11, 1938, at Starved
Rock State Park, LaSalle, County, Ill. He died in January 1979.
Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Tim Driskell, Madison, Wisc., and

WEBB CITY, Mo. — Emma Louise Gill, Springdale, Ark., a Webb City

Mrs. Gill was born June 26, 1916, in Webb City. She lived in Joplin,
Kansas City, Mo., and Houston, Texas, before moving to Springdale in
1992. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Springdale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Gill Jr.
Survivors include a son, Billy Gill, and a daughter, Elaine Claiborne,
both of Springdale; a sister, Hulda Evelyn Surgi, and a brother, John
Eric Fredrickson, both of Webb City; and a grandchild.

Betty Harrington
CARTHAGE, Mo. — Betty Jane Harrington, 75, 611 Bellaire, died at 6:43
p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, at McCune-Brooks Hospital after a
six-month illness.
Mrs. Harrington was born June 22, 1922, in Galena, Kan. She graduated
Galena High School in 1940 and moved to Carthage. Her family operated
Dixon Dry Cleaners, Carthage, for several years. She was a member of
First Presbyterian Church, John Knox Sunday school class, Rhoda
Fairchild Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Beta
Sigma Phi Sorority, and a charter member of Mimosa Garden Club, all of
Carthage.
She married William H. Harrington Aug. 8, 1947, in Carthage. He died
May 26, 1995.
Survivors include two sons, William Harrington, Carthage, and John
Harrington, Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren, and a
great-grandchild.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Knell Mortuary, Carthage, with
Rev. Joe Rychcik officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery,
Carthage.

Twylla Houston
DIAMOND, Mo. — Twylla Faye Robinson Houston, 83, Diamond, died at 2:40
p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998, at McCune-Brooks Hospital, Carthage,
after a short illness.
Mrs. Houston was born Dec. 8, 1914, at Diamond. She graduated from
Diamond High School in 1931 and attended business college in Carthage.
She returned to Diamond in 1991, moving from California, where she
worked for U.S. Department of Agriculture. She attended Diamond
Methodist Church.
She married David Fairchild Houston in October 1950 in California. He
died in 1991.
Survivors include a stepson, Gilbert Houston, Chico, Calif., and a
sister, Grayce Robinson Finnell, Kansas City, Mo.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. The
Rev. Clayton Withers will officiate. Burial will be in Diamond
Cemetery.

STARK CITY, Mo. — Harry Oscar Landreth, 81, Stark City, died at 6 a.m.
Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Landreth was born Feb. 1, 1917, at Newtonia. He was a lifetime
area resident. He was a retired farmer and a member of Newton County
Christian Fellowship Church.
He married Wilma Silar on Nov. 27, 1939, at Cassville. She survives.

a brother, Arol Landreth, Wanda; two sisters, Helen Shepard and
Venetta Timberlake, both of Joplin; three grandchildren and a
great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a daughter.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Clark Funeral Home, Granby, with
the Rev. Everett Edwards officiating. Private family burial will be in
Mound Chapel Cemetery, east of Newtonia.

Raymond Love
NEOSHO, Mo. — Raymond Vernon Love, 84, Neosho, died at 1:25 a.m.
Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, in a Neosho nursing center after a long
illness.
Mr. Love was born Sept. 16, 1913, in Newton County. He lived in
Banning, Calif., from 1959 to 1976, when he returned to the area. He
was a finish carpenter.
He was a member of Elm Springs Baptist Church and the carpenter's
union in the state of California.
He married Lordean Elizabeth Albright on Oct. 9, 1938, in Banning. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Margaret White, Neosho, and Jane
Erwin, Gladstone; three sons, Larry Love, Cabazon, Calif., Kenneth
Love, Harrisville, Utah, and Randy Love, Neosho; a sister, Idella
Cloutman, Glendora, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and 32
great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church,
Neosho. The Rev. James Schnackenberg will officiate. Burial will be in
Burkhart Cemetery, Racine. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Velma Sass
PURDY, Mo. — Velma Sass, 79, Purdy, died at 10:26 a.m. Monday, Feb.
23, 1998, at South Barry County Hospital, Cassville, after a sudden
illness.
Mrs. Sass was born April 19, 1918, in Purdy, and was a lifetime
resident. She was a homemaker and a member of Purdy First Baptist
Church.
She married Ernia Sass on July 28, 1946, at Exeter. He died Jan. 19, 1977.
Survivors include a sister, Erple Terry, Purdy.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Purdy First Baptist Church with
the Rev. Tony Martin officiating. Burial will be in Purdy Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at
Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett.

Raymond Schelp
LAMAR, Mo. — Raymond John Schelp, 82, Lamar, died at 1:43 a.m. Monday,
Feb. 23, 1998, at Barton County Memorial Hospital after a short
illness.
Mr. Schelp was born March 4, 1915, at Emma. He had lived in Lamar the
past nine years, moving from Independence, Mo. He worked for 18 years
at International Shoe Company, Marshall. He retired from Tension
Envelope Company, Kansas City, Mo., after 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy
veteran of World War II and a member of Lamar VFW Post No. 3691.
His first wife, Elsie Hemme, died March 21, 1975. His second wife,
Thelma Dunn, died Feb. 2, 1996.
Survivors include a brother, Norbert Schelp, Biloxi, Miss., and a
sister, Wilma Schelp Brady, Pearl River, La.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home,
Lamar, with the Rev. Morris Meseke officiating.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Marshall.

Lillian Von Sander
MOUNT VERNON, Mo. — Lillian Von Sander, 80, Springfield, formerly of
Mount Vernon, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, in a Springfield nursing
center where she had been a patient for a year.
Mrs. Von Sander was born Nov. 30, 1917, in Dade County. She was a
graduate of Greenfield High School.
She married Raymond Von Sander on Feb. 27, 1953. They lived in the
state of Illinois until her husband retired and moving to rural
Miller. After his death on May 30, 1988, Mrs. Von Sander moved to
Mount Vernon.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Freistatt.
Surviving are four sisters, Ruby Scroggs, South Greenfield, Madeline
Fouser, Webb City, Barbara A. Russell, Baxter Springs, Kan., and Nancy
Roy, Dadeville; two brothers, Bernard Casada, Springfield, and Richard
W. Casada, Memphis, Tenn.; three stepsons, Loren Sanders, San
Clemente, Calif., Robert T. Sanders, Falls Church, Va., and Ray Von
Sander, Rockville, Md. She is preceded in death by a stepdaughter.
Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood
Chapel, Springfield. The Rev. Paul Weber officiated. Burial was in
Greenfield Cemetery.
Ethel Weinstein
JASPER, Mo. — Ethel Irene Weinstein, 76, 410 E. Grand, died at 6:44
p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, at McCune-Brooks Hospital, Carthage, after
a long illness.
Mrs. Weinstein was born Dec. 17, 1921, at Jerico Springs. She lived in
Tarsey Lake until moving to Jasper 21 years ago. She was a homemaker
and a member of Greenwood (Mo.) Christian Church and Tarsey Lake
Garden Club.
She married Claudie L. Weinstein on Sept. 11, 1940, in Lamar. He died
Aug. 22, 1979.
Survivors include four sons, Bill Weinstein, Bates City, Larry
Weinstein, Jasper, Garry Weinstein, Ridgedale, and Marvin Weinstein,
Highlands Ranch, Colo.; a brother, Jim White, Lake Tapawingo; 12
grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper.
Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery, south of Jasper.

Lucille Wilson
SENECA, Mo. — Martha Lucille Wilson, 85, Seneca, died Monday, Feb. 23,
1998, at Freeman Neosho Hospital after an illness.
Mrs. Wilson was born March 3, 1912, in Newton County and was a
lifetime area resident. She was a homemaker and a member of Seneca
Church of Christ.
She married William Nowlin "Jack" Wilson on April 13, 1935. He died
Dec. 14, 1993.
Survivors include a son, Stanley Wilson, rural Seneca; four brothers,
Lyndall Mailes, Miami, Okla., Lawrence Mailes and Leonard Mailes, both
of Seneca, and Loren Mailes, state of Oregon; four sisters, Laveta
Higginbotham and Leora Garman, both of Seneca, Letha Daggley, Joplin,
and Lorena Hoover, Miami, Okla.; four grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Seneca Church of Christ with
Bob Hampton, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Swars Prairie
Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Pete Peterson, Terry Walker, Howard Wilson, Jerry
Hilburn, John Hoffman and Delbert Ehrhart.

Willard Clark
BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. — Willard Woodrow Clark, 79, Baxter Springs, died
at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, at St. John's Regional Medical
Center, Joplin, Mo., after a long illness.
Mr. Clark was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Sunnyside community of Ottawa
County, Okla. He was a member of a pioneer Northeast Oklahoma family.
He had lived in Baxter Springs for 55 years. He graduated from Quapaw
(Okla.) High School in 1934. He studied cartoon art with the Chicago
Art Institute and studied landscape painting with Charles Rush. A
number of his cartoons were published in national trucking magazines.
He worked for Yellow Freight, Inc., until his retirement in 1980.
While employed there, he received several awards.
He was a member of Quapaw Indian tribe and served as a volunteer at
Quapaw Tribal Center. He served four terms as president of the board
of directors of Johnston Public Library, Baxter Springs, and was
chairman of the board of directors of Baxter Springs Historical
Society. He was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church, Joplin.
He married Ellen Marie Killion on June 11, 1939, at Columbus. She survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ellen Clark, Parsons;
two sons, Mark Wayne Clark, Tulsa, Okla., and Willard Thomas Clark,
Issaquah, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at St. Philip's Episcopal Church,
Joplin, with the Rev. Daniel Erdman officiating. Burial will be in
Lowell Cemetery, east of Baxter Springs.
Pallbearers will be George Clark, Ken Blaudway, Stanley Wyczynski,
Charles Andrle, Don Hefley and Tom Spurgeon.

GROVE, Okla. — Verna Lucas Clem, 97, Grove, died Monday, Feb. 23,
1998, at a Grove nursing home after an illness.
Mrs. Clem was born March 18, 1900, at Olathe, Kan.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church, Grove.
She married William Clem on March 18, 1915, at Bartlesville. He died
on Oct. 21, 1951.
Survivors include three sons, Clarence H. "Penrod" Clem, Pawhuska,
Vern Clem, Grove, and James Clem, Tulsa; 12 grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
A son preceded her in death.

ZENA, Okla. — Andrew "A.D.'' Jackson, 78, Zena, died Sunday, Feb. 22,
1998, at Grove (Okla.) General Hospital, after a sudden illness.
Mr. Jackson was born Oct. 17, 1919, near Turkey Ford. He worked 28
years as superintendent of Honey Creek State Park for Oklahoma State
Park Dept., retiring in 1981.
He was a member of Free Holiness faith.
He married Rachel Messimore on Dec. 7, 1941, at Jay. She survives.
Surviving are six sons, David Jackson and Alvin Jackson, both of Zena,
Jodie Jackson, Grove, Mike Jackson, Jay, Andrew Jackson, Cookville,
Texas, and Bruce Jackson, Omaha, Texas; three daughters, Vi Pettegrew,

four brothers, Charles Jackson, James C. Jackson and Ray Jackson, all
of Zena, and Gene Jackson, Napa Valley, Calif.; three sisters, Liz

years with an area trucking company.
