Jerry Bloxom

Jerry Bloxom, 63, of Galveston, Texas, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at UTMB Hospital.
Jerry was born July 1, 1939, in Lockney, Texas, to Albert and Allie Bloxom. He was retired after serving 30 years as a federal court reporter. Jerry served under two federal judges, the Honorable Chief Judge Joseph Fisher and the Honorable Chief Judge Robert Parker. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Galveston, Texas.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Ray and Allie Lee Bloxom, and his brother, Terry Lee Bloxom.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Bloxom of Galveston, Texas; daughters, Tammy Bloxom Kirby of Pearland, Texas, and Tiffany Monique Bloxom of College Station, Texas; a son, Stern Thomas Hatcher and wife, Patricia of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Billy R. Bloxom and wife Barbara of Sante Fe, N.M., and Thomas G. Bloxom and wife, Glenda of Alma, Ark.; sister-in-law, Sharon Bloxom Stapleton of Grove, Okla.
Graveside services for Jerry Bloxom were held Thursday, June 19, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson, Mo.
Visitation was held Thursday, June 19, 2003, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo., where the family received friends.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Zion Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
Franklin J. Griffin
April 30, 1920 - May 4, 2003
Our beloved husband and father, Franklin J. Griffin, 83, of Helena, Mont., went to be with the Lord May 4, 2003.
His family and friends will greatly miss him. He was a very loving and caring person, helping many people throughout the years. His family was always the most important thing in his life.
Frank was born April 30, 1920, in Pineville, Mo., the son of Tilmon and Lydia Griffin. After graduating high school, he went to California to join his brother, John. He later joined the Army and served his country during World War II. He married Patricia on March 10, 1950, and they had four children.
He had many occupations throughout his life, including working on the Hungry Horse Dam, owning his own real estate business, and he was involved in mining.
He was an avid gardener and grew the best strawberries around. He loved hunting and fishing. His favorite pastime was playing crib, pinochle and backgammon. He always kept active working in the garage and helping out neighbors.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; his daughter, Patsy Christiansen of Helena, Mont.; his son, Jerry (Nancy) Griffin of Thornton, Colo.; his son, Wayne (Karen) Griffin of Eaton, Colo.; his daughter, Barb (Ron) Williams of East Helena; his sisters, Gertrude Haggard of Richland, Wash., and Mary Coiner of Ft. Smith, Ark.; numerous grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his very close friends, Vivian and Byron Baker.
Visitation was held May 7, 2003, at Hagler-Anderson Mortuary in Helena. Services were held May 8, 2003. Burial was at Fort Harrison Veterans Administration Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Griffin, Wayne Griffin, Ron Williams, Dylan Dickson, Ron Peaslee and Larry Baker.

Fabian Aly Walters Millan, stillborn son of Erasmo Araujo Millan and Amie Lee Walters, was born June 9, 2003, in Gravette, Ark., at the Gravette Medical Center.
He is survived by his parents, Erasmo A. Millan and Amie L. Walters of Goodman, Mo.; maternal grandparents, Tom and Cindy Wentz of Goodman, Mo., and Jim and Amanda Walters of Anderson, Mo.; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Margarita Moran of Villa Grerero Establo, Mexico; maternal great-grandparents, Gerald and Gloria Gibson of Southwest City, Mo., and Helen Humphrey of Tiff City, Mo.; Garland and Joyce Walters of Anderson, Mo.; paternal great-grandparents, Maria and Leoando Millan Garcia and Erasmo and Julia Millan Garcia of Mexico; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside service was held at the Anderson City Cemetery in Anderson, Mo., on June 1, 2003. Pastor Bob Cartwright officiated.

A.H. Potts, Jr., 78, of Jane, Mo., died Monday, June 16, 2003, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville, Ark.
He was born Feb. 22, 1925, to Albion Henry Potts, Sr., and Mattie Sue (Yoes) Potts.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He moved to Pineville, Mo., 30 years ago from Chandler, Okla. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., and N.R.A. for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary “Sally” Potts of Jane, Mo.; two daughters, Jacqueline Bridge of Chandler, Okla., and Sherrie Snow of Joplin, Mo.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Thursday, June 19, 2003, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel in Bella Vista, Ark. Pastor Jim Day and Pastor Jamey Cope officiated. Burial was in Jane Cemetery in Jane, Mo.
Visitation was held Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home, where the family received friends.
Pallbearers were Larry Slinkard, Leon Russell, Bill Anderson, Harold Lawyer, Rick Archer and Dale Coberly.
Aldora Scroggins

Aldora Scroggins, 82, of Exeter, Mo., passed away at 9:45 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2003, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
Aldora was born May 24, 1921, to Harry and Ethel (Miller) Bonner in Bettsville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, four sisters and one grandchild.
Aldora married Joe A. Scroggins Sept. 17, 1939, in Berryville, Ark. He survives. They had two children, a son, Gordon Wayne Scroggins and his wife, Ginger, of Ft. Smith, Ark., and a daughter, Jo Lynn Fields and her husband, Arlin, of Cassville, Mo.; four living grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was a resident of the area the majority of her life and worked as a bookkeeper for Empire Gas Company and also the Bank of Exeter. She was a member of the Eureka Springs Church of God and a member of the Rebecca Lodges in Eureka Springs, Ark., and then of Washburn, Mo.
Services were held Thursday, June 19, 2003, at the Wheaton Funeral Home. Visitation was held Wednesday, and burial was at Muncie Chapel Cemetery in Wheaton. The Rev. Darry Heupel officiated.
Pallbearers were Dustin and Todd Scroggins, Steven and Jacob Fields, and Thurman and Sherman Wiles.
Services were under the direction of Wheaton Funeral Home.
Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
Gene C. Anderson

Gene Anderson, 81, formerly of Rocky Comfort, Mo., passed away Friday, June 13, 2003, at Freeman Neosho Hospital.
Mr. Anderson was born Nov. 4, 1921, in Rocky Comfort, Mo., to Noah and Susan (Foster) Anderson. He had three brothers, Allen Anderson, Ray Anderson and Jay Anderson, along with two sisters, Jessie Pogue and Jewell Field, all of whom precede him in death.
Mr. Anderson married Ruth Brattin March 19, 1944. Ruth passed away Nov. 6, 1995. Through this marriage they had three sons, Jerry Anderson of Joplin, Mo., John Anderson of Blue Springs, Mo., and Randy Anderson, who is deceased.
Mr. Anderson’s second marriage was to Virginia Cole. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; sons, Jerry and John; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and seven step-grandchildren.
Mr. Anderson had been a postal carrier and postmaster for the Rocky Comfort Post Office for over 20 years prior to his retirement. He had graduated in 1940 from the Rocky Comfort High School. He was a deacon and past treasurer of Prosperity Southern Baptist Church in Rocky Comfort prior to the passing of his first wife, Ruth. He enjoyed bowling and was active in bowling leagues. He was also active in working with the Joplin Senior Olympics and several other organizations. Mr. Anderson was a sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II.
Services were held Monday, June 16, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the Wheaton Funeral Home. Visitation was held Sunday. Burial was at the Rocky Comfort Cemetery. Richard Anderson officiated.
Rex Armstrong
March 9, 1917 - June 11, 2003
Rex Armstrong, 86, of Wichita, Kan., died Wednesday, June 11, 2003.
Rex Armstrong was born March 9, 1917, in Powell, Mo., to the late Jasper and Ella (Spurlock) Armstrong. He moved to Wichita, Kan., in 1971 from Pineville, Mo. He was in the Anderson National Guard for six years, Mr. Armstrong worked for Boeing Aircraft for 35 years as a line supervisor. He retired in 1982. He was a Mason in Wichita, Kan., Lodge #99.
Mr. Armstrong married Annis Jean Johnson May 28, 1938, in Neosho, Mo. She survives. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce D. Armstrong.
Survivors include a son, Gary R. Armstrong of Lindsborg, Kan.; three granddaughters, Audrey Riggs of Houston, Texas, Marie L. Armstrong of Dallas, Texas, and Ashley Hale of Cunningham, Texas; two great-granddaughters; one niece, Judy Vattilan of Wichita, Kan.; and two nephews, Tom Planchon of Enterprise, Ala., and Peter Planchon of Mooresville, N.C.
Funeral services for Rex Armstrong will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the Baptist Church in Pineville, Mo. The Rev. Frank Crosby will officiate. Burial will be in the Anderson Cemetery in Anderson, Mo.
Pallbearers will be Jim Armstrong, Mark Armstrong, Steve Armstrong, John Jones, Lewis Skelton and Joe Vansandt. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Dennis and Morris Tinsley.
Visitation was held Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Downing and Lahey Mortuary East in Wichita, Kan., where the family received friends.
A memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202.
Velma Ada Dilday

Velma Ada Dilday, 93, of Anderson, Mo., died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at 11:35 p.m. at McDonald County Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Anderson, Mo., after an illness.
Velma Dilday was born Sept. 12, 1909, in Arkansas to the late Charles and Mary Beaver. She lived in Anderson, Mo., since 1964, coming from Grass Valley, Calif. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dolph Dilday and a son, Phil Dilday.
She is survived by a son, Max Dilday of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Daphne Taylor of Gentry, Ark.; numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Velma Dilday will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at the Burnt School House Cemetery in Norfolk, Ark.

Ruth Louise Tompkins

Ruth Louise Tompkins, 77, of Noel, Mo., died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at the Osborne Nursing Center in Miami, Okla., after an illness.
Ruth Tompkins was born April 15, 1925, in Southwest City, Mo., to the late Byron E. and Virgie L. (Ames) Tucker. She lived in Noel most of her adult life. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Noel, Mo. Never missing a day of work in her life, she was employed in the Noel area for more than 40 years. She worked for the Gravette Hospital for Dr. Hall for 25 years. She was the design seamstress at Sweet and Sassy in Gravette, Ark., and retired from Hudson Foods in Noel, Mo., at the age of 70. She loved to cook, dance and sing, and she was a tremendous homemade bow maker at Christmas time and always had a green Christmas will all red bulbs. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
She married George S. Tompkins Dec. 23, 1945. He preceded her in death July 11, 1974.
She is survived by a son, Dennis Tompkins, and wife Patty, of Gravette, Ark.; two daughters, Brenda Westfall and husband Mike of Miami, Okla., and Margarette Miller of Joplin, Mo.; a brother, J.D. Tucker of Eureka, Calif.; two sisters, Norma McCannon of Windville, Kan., and Jean Hovelond of Dalton, Minn.; three grandchildren, Jeanie Gann and husband Kevin of Noel, Mo., Nick Tompkins and wife Jennifer of Fayettevillle, Ark., and Chris Davis of Columbus, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and lots and lots of close friends. She will be deeply missed by all.
Funeral services for Ruth Tompkins will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Noel, Mo. The Rev. Jim Wallis will officiate. Burial will be in the Noel Cemetery in Noel, Mo.
Pallbearers will be Nick Tompkins, Kevin Gann, Chris Davis, Joseph Cullipher, Paul Lacey and G.W. Tompkins.

Melva Saunders

Melva Florence Saunders, 95, of Noel, Mo., died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., after an illness.
Melva Saunders was born Nov. 13, 1907, in Tonkawa, Okla., to the late Edwin Homer and Bessie Florence (Johnson) Stalnaker. She lived in Noel since 1949, coming from Webb City, Mo. She had attended the United Methodist Church in Noel, Mo. She worked for the McDonald County Press for 32 years.
She married Mason Beal Saunders May 5, 1939, at St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death Nov. 18, 1993.
She is survived by two sons, William Edwin Saunders and wife, Carolyn, of Miami, Okla., and Ronald Mason Saunders and wife, Byrl, of Noel, Mo.; four grandchildren, Mike Saunders, Randy Saunders, Becky Cotner and Teri Saunders; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Melva Saunders will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2003, at the Noel Cemetery in Noel, Mo. The Rev. Bob Ewens will officiate.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Saunders, Randy Saunders, Steve Cotner and Jon Paul Reynolds.

Calvin Joe Sturgis, 20, of Joplin, Mo., died July 21, 2003 at 12:05 p.m. at his home after a long illness.
Calvin Joe Sturgis was born on July 17, 1983 in Granbury, Texas. He had lived most of his life in Joplin. He attended Joplin High School.
Calvin Joe Sturgis is survived by his mother, Linda Thomas and her companion Dan “Dapper” Dudley of the home; three uncles Jerry Wiley of Neosho, Mo., Frank Raines and Leroy Raines, both of Goodman, Mo.; three aunts Carolyn Jordan of Neosho, Mo., Joyce Hartsook of Branson, Mo. and JoAnn Raines of West Mineral, Kans. and many cousins.
Graveside services for Calvin Joe Sturgis were held Friday, July 25, 2003 at 2:00 PM. at the Howard Cemetery in Goodman, Mo. Brother Larry Stites officiated.
Visitation was held Thursday, July 24, 2003, from 12 noon until 5 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Goodman.

Patricia Ann Garner, 58, of Noel, Mo., died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at 4:17 a.m. at Gravette Medical Center in Gravette, Ark. after an illness.
She was born on May 19, 1945, in Bakersfield, Calif., to the late Jack and Norma (Corneilson) Benson of Little Rock, Ark. She was also preceded in death by her three grandchildren James Christopher garner II, Krisinda Mae Garner and April Lemac Garner of Stella, Mo.
Patricia Ann Garner is survived by three sons, Kenneth Wayne Garner, address unknown, Robert William Garner and Ernest Garner, both of Noel, Mo.; one brother; four sisters; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles, cousins; great nephews and great nieces.
The funeral service for Patricia Ann Garner was held Thursday, July 24, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. The Reverend jerry Crider officiated. Burial was in the Union Cemetery at Stella, Mo. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
Visitation was held Thursday, July 24, 2003, from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home..
Jack D. Sharp

Jack D. Sharp, 61, of Stella, Mo., died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003 at 2:24 a.m. at his home after an illness.
Jack was born on May 28, 1942, in Neosho, Mo., to the late Strawder and Roasey (Burris) Sharp. He had lived in McDonald County since 1952. He drove a school bus for McDonald County for seven years. He had to quit in October of 2002. He was a John Deere Tractor mechanic and restorer.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mae Sharp, of Stella, Mo.; a son, Jackie Sharp of Goodman, Mo.; two daughters, Debbie Galbraith of Joplin, Mo., and Regina Chavez of Neosho, Mo.; a brother, Clifford Sharp of Madill, Okla.; a sister, Rosie Langrehr of Neosho, Mo.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and a sister.
Graveside services for Jack Sharp were 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at the Union Cemetery in Stella, Mo.
Pallbearers were his nephews: Roy Roark, Jerry Roark, Ricky Roark, Monty Sharp, David Sharp and Tim Sharp.
Visitation was held Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo., from noon until 8 p.m. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m.

Norma F. Adams

Norma F. Adams, 66, of Anderson, Mo. died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at 2:09 a.m. at her home after an illness.
Norma F. Adams was born on March 27, 1937, at Tiff City, Mo., to the late Albert Edward and Margaret Louise (Arnett) Ledford. She lived most of her life in McDonald County, Mo. She retired last year after working at Sunbeam in Neosho for six years. She was a member of the Noel County Club, where she enjoyed golfing.
She is survived by two sons Robert Adams of Norfolk, Va., Lewis Adams of Anderson, Mo.; three daughters Peggy Childress and Susan Mullin, both of Fayetteville, Tenn., Sally Fields of Seneca, Mo.; two brothers Lewis Ledford and Johnny Ledford, both of the state of Calif.; four sisters Ruth Fletcher of Anderson, Mo., Bertha Dohle of the state of Ark., Louise Doherty and Barbara Sutton, both of the state of Calif.; seven grandchildren and a special friend Mr. Wilton “Bill” Baker.
Cremation will be done by the Bella Vista Crematory in Bella Vista, Ark. A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. Pastor Melvin Anders officiated.

Evelynn M. Gow

Evelynn M. “Honey” Gow, 75, of Kansas City, Mo., died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at the Newmark Care Center in Kansas City, Mo., after an illness.
Evelynn was born on Dec. 1, 1927, the daughter of Harvey and Hazel Fessler, in Kansas City, Kans., and was a lifelong area resident. She had been a Chief Operator and Manager of Southwestern Bell for 30 years, retiring in 1981 and was a co-owner of G&G Ceramics. She was a member of Bristol Hills United Methodist Church and a volunteer for Cancer Action, Inc.
She married Harry C. Gow on March 18, 1954. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2002. Also preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
She is survived by sons and their wives, Harvey “Bud” and Dianna Gow of Noel, Mo., and Scott and Therasa Gow of Kansas City, Mo.; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jennifer Brown and children, Kristen and Heather of Noel, Mo.; Charles Harr and his children, Leanne, Shawn and Ryan. Charles is serving in the Army and has been stationed in Bagdad for eight months, currently stationed in Germany; Matthew Gow of Noel, Mo.; Sarah and Tony Torres and their children, Amanda and Miranda of Anderson, Mo.; Katrina and Zack Lane and their children, Haley and Tendon of Noel, Mo.; Joshua, Sarah, and Kassie Gow of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers Lawrence Fessler of Emporia, Kans., and Harold Fessler of Phillipsburg, Kans.; a sister, Mabel Gibbs of Kansas City, Mo.
Graveside services for Evelynn M. “Honey” Gow were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at the Noel Cemetery in Noel, Mo. The Rev. Charles Chrisman officiated.

Bessie Bigo Shumate

Bessie Shumate was born on Dec. 25, 1916, Globe, Ariz. She passed away peacefully in her home in Anderson at 6:45 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2003.
Bess was raised in Los Angeles, Calif., graduating from Beverly Hills High School in 1934. She married Baylous Calvin Shumate of Elkins, Ark., in 1937, who survives. They have seven children, daughters, Janelle Norene of the home, Jodelle and husband Ken Bacher of Verona, Mo., and Elaine and husband Joe Reut of Anderson, Mo., and sons Gary Calvin of the home, Rodney and wife Terrie, formerly of Washington State, and John and wife Michelle of Anderson, Mo., and David and wife Peggy, of Jane, Mo. They have six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Isaac and Elizabeth Shumate, Jacob, Katharine and Judah Reut, Josh Bowers and his son Brett; one sister Zorka Thompson of San Francisco, Calif.
Bess and Baylous moved to Anderson, Mo., in 1962 after Baylous retired from the Navy. They spent the first 25 years of their marriage moving all over the U.S. finally settling down in the Ozarks, which they both loved.
Bess was very dedicated to her husband and children. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1959. She loved talking to people about her faith, and the wonderful promises the Bible holds out for the future. She made her home welcome to all. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial services were 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Anderson, Mo. Ken Johannesen of Springdale, Ark., officiating.
The family requests, instead of flowers, that donations are made to the Kingdom Hall in Anderson.
Arrangements were under the direction of Ozark Funeral Home, Anderson, MO.
Carolyn Gregory

Mary Carolyn Gregory, 67, of Jane, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at 9:30 a.m. at her home after an illness.
Carolyn was born Feb. 7, 1936 in Monteagle, Tenn., to the late Harry E. and Wilma Francis (Farmer) Metcalfe. She had lived in Jane, Mo, for the past five years coming from Springdale, Ark. She worked as a nurse’s aide for over 30 years, working at both nursing homes and hospitals. She attended the White Rock Church of Christ in Jane, Mo.
She is survived by her two sons, Tony Gregory of Cleveland, Tenn., and Philip Gregory of Pineville, Mo. Two daughters Wanda Coberley and husband David, of Jane, Mo., and Amy Forrest and husband Michael of Rogers, Ark. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
The graveside service for Carolyn Gregory was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at the Jane Cemetery in Jane, Mo. Minister Delmer Andrews officiated.
Patrick Pierce

Patrick Gene Pierce, 49, of Anderson, Mo., died Saturday, September 27, 2003, at 3:39 p.m. at Freeman-Neosho Hospital ER in Neosho, Mo., after an illness.
Patrick Pierce was born on March 25, 1954, in Austin, Texas, to the late Harold Leroy Pierce and Jean (Floyd) Pierce. He had lived in Anderson for 30 years, coming from Ft. Worth, Texas. He was a member of the River Oaks Methodist Church in Ft.. Worth, Texas. He was disabled but had previously worked in construction and for B&M Tire and Muffler in Anderson, Mo.
He married Becky Kay Coffelt on March 24, 1984, at Centerton, Ark. She survives of the home in Anderson, Mo. also, surviving is one daughter Emma Pierce of the home; his mother Jean Pierce of Anderson, Mo.; one brother Leory Pierce and his wife Kay of Anderson, Mo.; two sisters Linda Brown and her husband and Peggy White and her husband Glenn, all of Ft. Worth, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services for Patrick Pierce was 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003 at the Anderson First baptist Church in Anderson, Mo. Pastor Pat Jeffers officiated. Burial was in the Cummings Cemetery in Tiff City, Mo.
Pallbearers were Bill Martin, Nick Martin, Dewey Pierce, Jerry Mann, Mack Kauffman and Blake Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Thompson, Randy Thompson, David Thompson, Jerry Thompson and Delton Bush.
Visitation was Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo., from noon until 8 p.m. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bob Sellers

Robert Earl “Bob” Sellers, 70, of Jane, Mo., died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at 4:45 p.m. at his home after an illness.
Bob Sellers was born Oct. 18, 1932 in Iowa to the late Melvin Harrison and Letha Marie (Harvey) Sellers. He had lived in Jane, Mo., since 1983, coming from What Cheer, Iowa. He retired from Maytag Manufacturing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters Mildred Dannels and Viola Fowler.
He is survived by three sons Kevin Sellers of Abbeville, SC, Troy Sellers of St. Mary’s , GA, and Terry Sellers of Nahunta, Ga; six brothers Donald Sellers of Manchester, Iowa, Chester Sellers of Glenwood, Iowa, Rayond Sellers of Delta, Iowa, Jimmie Sellers of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Marvin Sellers of Jane, Mo. and Larry Sellers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters Dorothy Pugh of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Ann Dale of Wever, Iowa; five grandchildren and a special friends Lois Sperry.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Ozark Funeral Home in Pineville, Mo. Cremation was done by the Bella Vista Crematory in Bella Vista, Ark. Bob Sellers cremains will be buried in the Springfield Cemetery in Delta, Iowa, at a later date.
Donna Mae Haddock

Donna Mae Haddock, 55, of Stella, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at 8:51 a.m. at her home in Stella, Mo.
Donna was born on March 22, 1948, in Stella, Mo., to Gilbert and Violet (McDonald) Beaver. She had lived all of her life in Stella, Mo. She was a homemaker and attended the Union Chapel Church in Stella, Mo.
She married Jerry Haddock on July 12, 1967, at Neosho, Mo. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include her mother, Violet Beaver of Stella, Mo.; two daughters, Cynthia Deanna Haddock of Springfield, Mo., and Mindy Leann Ferdig of Anderson, Mo.; and a granddaughter, Katelyn Makenna Ferdig.
Funeral services for Donna Mae Haddock were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. The Rev. Frank Arnall officiated. Burial was in the Union Cemetery in Stella, Mo. There was no visitation and the casket was closed.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Compassion Ministries in Little Rock, Ark., in care of the funeral home.
Oval May Meadors Kelley

Oval May Meadors was born Feb. 1, 1912, to Andrew Jackson Meadors and Mary Susan Meadows Meadors in Wetumpka, Okla. She died at 5:09 p.m. Nov. 14, 2003, at a local health care center after a long illness.
She married John C. Kelley, Jr. in Pineville, Mo., on Dec. 25, 1937. They had three children: James, Mary and Carole. The family lived in Pineville until 1946 when they bought the Cyclone grocery store which they operated until moving to Joplin in 1955. She also served as the Postmistress at Cyclone.
Oval spent her working career at Newberry’s, then Pacific Mercury in Joplin until she retired. She came out of retirement and opened Pop’s Café on Broadway which she and John operated for five years until his death in 1970.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 14, 1970, and a son, James Arnold Kelley, of Rogers, Ark., in 1992 and also James’ wife, Beatrice.
Oval is survived by her daughters Mary DeLand and her husband Dick of Tucson, Ariz., Carole Powell and her husband John of Joplin, Mo., eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at Pineville Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Simon officiating under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
Gerry R. Mount

Gerry R. Mount, 64, of Southwest City, Okla., died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at 7:48 p.m. at Freeman Neosho Hospital in Neosho, Mo., after an illness.
Gerry was born on Dec. 28, 1938, in Grove, Okla., to the late Raford and Alta Nell (North) Mount. He was raised in the Southwest City area until the age of thirteen. He returned to the area in 1972 coming from Los Angeles, Calif. He owned and operated various businesses. He was very active for 29 years with the friends of Bill W.
He married Karla Sue Lay on Oct. 24, 1957, at Bell Gardens, Calif. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Kerri Johnson of Bentonville, Ark., and Kelly Elley of Picton Ontario, Canada; a twin brother, Jerry Mount of Diamond Bar, Calif.; a sister, Nancy Maurine Harrison of Rosebud, Ark.; five grandchildren. BreAnna, Micah, Cameron, Amelia and James. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many, many friends whose lives he has touched so deeply.
Funeral services for Gerry Mount were held Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Southwest City, Mo. The Rev. Mark Elley officiated. Burial was in the Southwest City Cemetery at Southwest City, Mo.
Visitation was Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Southwest City, Mo., from 4 until 8 p.m. The family received friends at that time at the funeral home.
Gary W. Hansbrough

Gary W. Hansbrough, 52, Seneca died at 7:14 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at his home after an illness.
Gary was born Feb. 13, 1951, the son of Wayne and Betty Hansbrough in Maywood, Calif. He was a Viet Nam Army veteran. He worked as a pressman for a copping company.
Gary married Cindy Fortner April 20, 2002, in Miami, Okla., and she survives.
Additional survivors include one son, Brian Hansbrough, Noel, Mo.; two daughters, Angie Reed, state of Kansas and Heather Hansbrough, Winterset, Iowa; two step-daughters, Callie Hillburn and Chanae Fortner; his father and mother, Wayne and Caroline, Dallas, Texas; three brothers, Larry Hansbrough and Dennis Hansbrough both of Des Moines, Iowa, and Wayne Hansbrough of Houston of Texas; one sister, Cyndi Hinson, Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Noah Reed, Brittany Reed, Starley Reed, Adam Huffman and Zachary Hansbrough.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home Chapel, Seneca, with Bro. Gordon Thorn officiating. Burial was in the Seneca Cemetery with Fred Comfort, Jim Fellows, Randy Fortner, Chris Fortner, Terry Finch and Jerry Taylor serving as pallbearers.
The family received friends after 5 p.m. at the family home, 1303 Wyandotte St., Seneca, Sunday.

Shirley Jean Ethridge, 57, of Anderson, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2003, at 7:55 p.m. at Freeman-West Hospital in Joplin, Mo., after an illness.
Shirley Jean Ethridge was born July 27, 1946, in Noel, Mo., to the late James A. Garfield and Susie (Anderson) Mathews. She was a lifelong resident of McDonald County, Mo.
She married Glen Ethridge on April 12, 1974, in Miami, Okla. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include one daughter, Tammy Mills of Pineville, Mo.; five grandchildren, Timothy Mills, Tyler Mills, Tara Mills, Travis Crowder and Tessa Crowder; two brothers, Sherman Mathews of Carterville, Mo., and Henry Mathews of the state of Idaho; two sisters, Hazel Leach of Anderson, Mo., and Dixie Pogue of Sulphur Springs, Ark.
Funeral services for Shirley Ethridge were 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. The Rev. Doris Schlessman officiated. Burial was in the Butler Creek Cemetery in Sulphur Springs, Ark.
Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, from noon until 6 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. The family received friends at the funeral home from 2 until 3 p.m.
