VIRGINIA NELLE PULLEY McCONCHIE
Virginia Nelle Pulley McConchie of Lee’s Summit died Sunday, May 28, at her home.
Visitation was 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 30 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1400 Sheley Road, Independence, Mo.
Memorial services followed at 5 p.m. at the church.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Parkinsons Association of Greater Kansas City, 7808 Foster, Overland Park, KS 66204; or the church.
Virginia was administrative assistant to the director of Remington Arms Corp., Lake City, Mo., until her retirement in 1968.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Dr. James E. McConchie; step-children, James W. and Kathy McConchie, Independence; Robert W. and Carolyn McConchie, Blue Springs, Roger C. and Blythe McConchie, Bellingham, Wash., Zo Ann McConchie, Kansas City, and Ruthe E. and Gregory Gallo, Colonia, N.J.; step-grandchildren, Karen Grace and Chelbi Marie Walk; a brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence R. and Marie Pulley, Belton, Mo.; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane Pulley and Bill Smith, Sun City, Ariz.; nieces and nephews, Robert J. Pulley, Patricia Pulley Lindsey, L. Roger Pulley, Penny Pully Hashbarger, Elaine Pulley Van Compernolle, Paula Knight Balisteri, Kathleen Jones Steele and Glenn E. Knight; and 18 grand-nieces and nephews.
Virginia will be deeply missed by her many friends.
WILLIAM E. “BILL” MITCHELL
William E. “Bill” Mitchell, 67, of Greenwood passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Lee’s Summit Hospital.
Memorial services were 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Langsford Funeral Home with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Cremation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lee’s Summit Hospital Cardiac Cath Laboratory.
He was born Dec. 2, 1932, in Kansas City, Mo.
He was baptized at the First Baptist Church, Buckner, Mo., at age 10.
Bill was a hoisting engineer for more than 30 years with the Local 101.
He and his wife, JoAnn, were married 45 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; three brothers; and a sister.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Mitchell, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Dennis May, Greenwood; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Gladys Boydston, Kansas City, Mo., and Freda and John Kowalski, Mt. View, Calif.; two brothers, Michael Mitchell and James Mitchell, both of Kansas City, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

BARBARA R. SEARCY
Barbara R. Searcy, 60, of Lee’s Summit died Friday, May 26, 2000, at John Knox Village Care Center.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Langsford Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Friends called from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Langsford Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Barbara was born Feb. 27, 1940, outside of Berlin, Germany.
Barbara managed the Barcelona Apartments for 20 years.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Kansas City, Mo.
She will be missed by all.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Searcy, Jr., of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Helen Brewer, Raytown, Mo.; a step-son, David Searcy, Independence; two grandchildren, John and Katelyn Brewer; three step-granddaughters, Jenny, Lisa and Lauren Brunk; and a sister, Leanne Maupin.

BARBARA L. SMITH
Barbara L. Smith, 73, of Raymore, Mo., passed away Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Research Medical Center.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Mt. Moriah and Freeman Chapel, I-435 at Holmes Road, with burial in Lee’s Summit Cemetery.
Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 29, at the chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
Barbara was born May 13, 1927, in Knoxville, Tenn.
Barbara worked at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry as a clinical supervisor, retiring in 1978.
She was active in the American Business Woman’s Association, former president of the South Suburban Girls Softball Association and other community activities.
One of the most enjoyable activities that Barbara and Lincoln enjoyed was traveling in their motor home throughout the United States.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Billie Williams, in 1992.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lincoln, of the home; children, Linda and John Franco, Toni and Paul Parker, Michael and Mary Smith, and Tammy and Alan Cox; a son-in-law, Bill Traywick; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
You will always be missed, we love you.

DAVID J. WHITE
David J. White, 72, of Raymore, Mo., died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at Research Belton Hospital.
Services were 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Langsford Funeral Home with burial in Floral Hills Cemetery.
Friends called from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
David was born Aug. 26, 1927, at Moberly, Mo., to Russell and Mary (Pleyer) White.
His first 20 years were spent in Chariton County, where he attended Salisbury High School.
The colleges he attended were at Lincoln, Neb.; Fayette, Mo.; and Kirksville, Mo.
After two years in the U.S. Marine Corps, he resided in the Lee’s Summit and Greenwood areas.
He married in 1958, to Dolores Keeley.
She died in 1984.
His second wife, Allene Porter Switzer, also preceded him in death in 1988.
David retired after 30 years of dedicated service with the U.S Postal Service in Kansas City, Mo.
David was active in the American Legion Honor Guard in Lee’s Summit until a stroke in 1997.
He was a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church.
He is survived by four children, James and Steve, Missouri, Joe, South Dakota, and Darlene, Maine; a sister and brother-in-law, Adeline and Robert Clark, Raymore; a brother-in-law, Robert Keeley, Lee’s Summit; four nieces; and many friends and relatives.

Dorothy U. Yoakum, 87, of Lee’s Summit died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at John Knox Village Care Center, Lee’s Summit.

Dorothy was born March 13, 1913, in Bolivar, Mo.
She was an licensed practical nurse at Truman Medical Center East for more than 20 years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lee’s Summit.
She was a lover of gardening and had many flowers.
Dorothy was a longtime native of Lee’s Summit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rolland Willard Yoakum.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald R. Yoakum, Lee’s Summit, and Willard R. Yoakum, Belton; two daughters, JoAnn Yoakum Harris, Raytown, and Glenda Jean Sharp, Lee’s Summit; two brothers; two sisters; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Richard W. Daugherty, 65, of Lee’s Summit died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at Research Medical Center.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Friday, June 2, at Langsford Funeral Home, with burial in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Mo. Friends called from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at the funeral home.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to Cancer Action, Inc., or to the American Cancer Society.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Daugherty, of the home; two children, a daughter, Elizabeth Diana, Raytown, Mo., and a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Doris Daugherty, Germany; three grandchildren and spouse, Matt and Christina Nevels, Dan Nevels, and Hans Daugherty; one great-granddaughter, Brenna Nevels; and a sister, Francis Kirk.

A. Kelly Williams, 83, of Lee’s Summit died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at John Knox Village Care Center, Lee’s Summit.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, June 5, at Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church, Lee’s Summit, with burial in Lee’s Summit Cemetery.
Friends called for the hour prior to the service.

Kelly was born Aug. 2, 1916, in Appleton City, Mo.
He was a graduate of Appleton City, Missouri, High School in 1933.
He attended Central Methodist College, Fayette, Mo., from 1933 to 1935.
He also attended Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
On April 3, 1937, he married Mary Sue Robinson, and married for 63 years.
Kelly was a member of the Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church.
Kelly had a long career with the Missouri Public Service Company and other organizations, Kaw Council, Boy Scouts of America, Emporia, Kansas Field Executive.
His work history included several positions with the Missouri Public Service Company including bookkeeper, 1947 to 1949; chief clerk, 1950 to 1952; general auditor, 1952 to 1962; assistant secretary, 1962 to 1965; vice-president - accounting and secretary, 1965 to 1971; and vice president-finance and secretary, 1971 to 1981. Kelly retired June 1, 1981, after 34 years of service.
He was a member of the Lee’s Summit Optimist, past distinguished president and past zone governor; the Missouri State Chamber of Commerce and Kansas City, Raytown and Lee’s Summit Chambers of Commerce; the Missouri Valley Electric Association; Executive Committee; Accounting Division of Edison Electric Institute; former member of the Lee’s Summit Police Board; Tax Executives Institute; the Risk and Insurance Management Society; the Lee’s Summit City Council for eight years; the Board of Directors Community Mental Health Center-South; the Board of Directors-Jackson County United Way; the John Knox Board; and the UMB Bank Board.
His career also included civilian records supervisor, U.S. Air Force, counselor and assistant superintendent for the Missouri Training School for Boys, Boonville.
Kelly was a resident of Lee’s Summit for 44 years.
Kelly’s wife, Sue, was a former Lee’s Summit High School and Warrensburg High School teacher.
His daughter, Toni Horne, is assistant principal at Lee’s Summit North High School.
Kelly’s hobbies included golfing and fishing.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary A. Williams, Sept. 26, 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Williams, Lee’s Summit; a daughter and son-in-law, Toni Sue and Jerry Horne, Lee’s Summit; a daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Donna and Paul Trame; six grandchildren and spouse, Todd and Ruth Anne Decker, Overland Park, Kan., Kellee Sue Horne, Brittany Horne, both of Lee’s Summit, Patricia Williams, Edwardsville, Ill., Nichole Williams and Sean Williams, both of Highland, Ill.
